Ladyhawke!! Favorite movie of all time, hands down. It is my comfort movie, I have watched it multiple times, it is love for me. It has given me unrealistic standards for love and romance, which is amazing because the romance in this movie is like 75% a guy making heart eyes at a bird.

I got back into writing fanfic because I was reading a story that I found interesting, but whose execution drove me crazy. But, that story still has more view and kudos than mine, so maybe my perspective is the shit one.

A friend once asked me if I felt bad for my characters when bad things happened to them. I then had to explain to said friend that it actually made me laugh, as I am in fact evil and enjoy putting my characters through Hell.

There was a place to download episodes from the seasons 2-4, though I'm sure that website is gone now that the whole series have been released. But yeah, seeing it spread to so many other fandoms is so very trippy.

I find it wild that Sentinel AU’s are so common in fanfiction. Only like coffee shop and Hogwarts beats them. EVERY fandom I’ve ever been in has had a dozen Sentinel AU fics, even today I see Witcher ones and Teen Wolf ones pop up, and this show hasn’t been on in like 25 years or something. It’s unavailable to stream ANYWHERE, it wasn’t even a great show yet here we are, still vibing with our Sentinel AU’s. A legend. Iconic.

... I really need this kind of thing to be canon again. I hate the idea that being Bruce's kid is contingent on being Robin. Which I hope is getting dissected in the current Batman and Robin run with Damien's whole declaration being made.

Then again Bruce's insecurity regarding family ties is interesting to explore...

Nawww, I really want this softer side to be canon and the way things are done. It would actually be cool to have him adopt a kid who decided not to be a vigilante... Though I think he has enough adoptees at this point.

Pre-Crisis — Batman #360

I’m reading all the Robin!Jason comics in order! This one comes right after Jason’s become Bruce’s ward.

Summary: An ex-cop with his face burned off who was fired for excessive force (the final incident being him shooting an innocent Black teenager) goes around stabbing cops.

Jason’s Personality/Morals: Jason is cheerful and excited about working with Batman. He initially seems to have moved on oddly quickly from his parents’ deaths, but when he starts mentioning them, he becomes sad and closed-off.

Bruce’s Parenting: Great! He comforts Jason by putting a hand on his shoulder and being emotionally available. He trains with Jason on the trapeze and is hesitant about letting a kid fight crime, so this isn’t Robin training—he’s doing trapeze with Jason because that’s what Jason enjoys doing.

Unlike in post-crisis, being Batman’s partner and Bruce Wayne’s ward are completely separate—there is no indication whatsoever that the latter is contingent on the former. While post-crisis Jason could have easily thought (at least initially) that Bruce adopted him to have another Robin and that he had to be Robin to get a safe home, pre-crisis Jason definitely did not. His drive to fight alongside Batman was purely his own.

Bruce, meanwhile, has concluded (as further discussed in a later panel) that he shouldn’t have let Dick be Robin. He’s worried about making the same mistakes and exposing Jason to that danger. Notably, this is pre-crisis, so Bruce never fired Dick, and in fact he and Dick are still on good terms. Bruce’s conclusion is not reactionary—he has thought it out, and is concerned about letting a 12-year-old fight crime.

I sometimes forget how beautifully shot this series was. I rewatched a clip of it the other day, and the cinematography was on point.

Or is it a last ditch effort to get someone you love to understand the severity of the situation? I like where this person's mind is at, I like the angles this can bounce off of, and the way Alfred, despite loving Bruce, fed into a pattern of screwed up, distant, and avoidant communication. What even is love in this dynamic but something to be lost…

Look its about how sometimes alfred will threaten to/talk about resigning from his job and wondering about the dynamic of how alfred would have raised bruce as an employee instead of a parent and the skewed power dynamic and how threatening to resign might have been one of the ways alfred was able to actually get bruce to listen to him and how it would have been so effective because bruce was a child who lost his parents violently and would not want to lose another and its about how this relationship shapes the way the Batman and Robin dynamic works. Does love make the most sense when its a job. Is firing robin a test to see if they love him when they dont have to or is it him proving to them he loves then when it isnt a job. I dont know what im talking about but do you see where my mind is at

Ideas/Prompts I am working through

This is linked to my AO3 content, but I won't say my handle because where is the fun in that. I updates one fic, and have another I've started with an unstable update schedule. Time to bite off more than is chewable by picking a third project to obsess over.

Half-Baked Ideas

A cross over featuring Booster Gold, Batman, and Red Hood. I've actually have this one story-boarded, but have hesitated to start it because I am not confident in my portrayal of Jason. But I do like the story... it's fun, cause I don't actually want someone else to write it, I just want someone to hold my hand as I write it.

I have two Cobra Kai fic ideas I bounce between. One features Johnny, Chozen, and Barnes. It takes place from Chozen's perspective, as the three of them sneak onto Terry's property to rescue/recover Daniel, who has been buried (possibly) alive on the property. There is a lot uncertainty as to what the situation actually is, with Johnny certain Daniel is still alive, and Barnes certain he is dead. The other fic idea was to take most of Cobra Kai and turn it into a Dungeons and Dragons campaign, with Johnny and Miguel starting the game and people joining as time goes on. Trauma is worked through, and drama ensues.

Tiger and Bunny post-anime finale fic where Kotetsu is kidnapped be nefarious people. Because I really wanna see that guy kidnapped for reasons I cannot and will not attempt to explain.

I find this take very interesting, cause I think it is applicable to Bruce's whole mentality around death. Even people who should probably die Bruce tries to save, and I like to think that is because Bruce has an obsession with not witnessing death again, and so some of his saving people activities are more a compulsion than anything else. For example, he doesn't save Joker's life because he actually wants to save Joker and views him as redeemable, but because he can absolutely not see someone die again.

In support of this, I have heard that PTSD can present with OCD traits. So I think that it can be said that Bruce has PTSD with OCD tendencies. Which I think explains a lot of his tendencies.

personally i believe that the whole "if bruce kills once he'll never stop" thing is what bruce believes but this is not true. this is simply due to his ocd. in this essay i will—

My to-do list is boring. I have to fight a bunch of people, clean my house, send out one work email, write that chapter I promised to write, probably eat food, go dancing, and at some point stretch.

My anti-to-do list is so fun though. It has the fighting still, but also finger weaving, playing a musical instrument, reading Poirot, reading the death book, texting 30 people, completing any of the sewing projects I have going on, researching which JoAnn's have clearance sales in my area, working out, finding slow cooker recipes, reading a ton of fanfiction, drinking/convincing myself not to go out drinking, writing a chapter in everything but the promised story, doing additional work things, and every other task I've either delayed or provides me a sliver of dopamine...

I think I am a well-adjusted person who is not procrastinating too much.

I have a high key love of ghost stories. I search for them, when I'm feeling down I will listen to them. As an incredibly morbid person who fears oblivion, ghost stories make me hopeful.
