I just finished this book last night. It took my two days to read. 

SPOILERS!

I was calculating the distance from Hemingford Home and McCook, Nebraska. While Hemingford Home is a fictional town in Nebraska, it is understood to be about 60 miles east of Lincoln. The calculated distance between the two is almost 5 hours. The reason why I went through that trouble of calculating the distance is because the main characters live in Hemingford Home, yet she also gets her hair done in McCook. Now in 1922, that would be quite a drive one way to get your hair done. 

Anyone else read the book?

While it wasn’t a bad read, it was a short read too. I don’t mind reading his short stories as they get to the point quick. 

What did everyone else think of the book?

I also have read that this book is now a movie on Netflix. I will have to add it to my list of things to watch. I probably should just include that list on this blog I have.

Rain

I could use some rain dances or rain vibes my way. 

The area I live in is so dry and is risking grass fires everyday. We need the rain! We are in a elevated risk for storms today, I don’t want the tornadoes, just the rain. A good downpour would do it some good and help for a day or two. 

Rain is cleansing for the soul and mind as well as the Earth. She is real thirsty in these parts and needs it!

What are some books or movies that have good storms in them? What are your favorite ones? 

The one I can think of is in Twilight, it is so damp and cool all the time. We get that here maybe for a week out of the year, if that. I would love to be able to smell rain often. The pacific northwest must be a beautiful place to live.

Weird Dreams

I dream a lot that I am the opposite sex. I am not sure why. I am more of a tomboy then super girly but I still consider myself a woman. 

Does anyone else have this happen? Does it weird you out or does it feel “right”?

Dream Jobs

I feel like this blog helps with my “wanting to be a writer” dream. It helps me stay focused on my dreams and realize how far away I am to achieving them.

I also would love to be an artist; have my own little studio, have a huge easel, listen to talk radio, and paint or draw to my heart’s content.

I am in my 30′s and still wandering around aimlessly trying to find my way in the world. I didn’t ever think I would be in this place in my life at this age.

I have a great motto in life, “just keep swimming”. Dory has inspired me to keep going in life and hope that at some point in time, it falls into place.

Anyone else feel lost in a world of successful people?

I have not finished that book yet! I am going to devote more time today to read it. I figure I am either half way done with it or very close.

Book Progress...

I am on page 283 of this book. I am trying to get through it and have devoted a lot of time today to read it. So hopefully it is done today and I can post a review of it tomorrow.

I just learned that over the 4th of July, my family has decided not to talk to each other (nor apologize) for their hurtful comments towards each other.

This is heartbreaking, I love my family! I don’t care if you are a Republican or Democrat, family shouldn’t treat each other like that.

There is so much stress on everyone right now and isn’t your family always supposed to be the ones that have your back, no matter what?!

I hope heads cool down and apologies are said from both sides of my family.

Anyone else have families with opposite beliefs?

Ugh....

When you have depression and anxiety, it is sometimes hard to just do basic things in life. Then there is a house to keep up, family to visit, friends to talk to, laundry to be done, children to raise, car to maintain, yard to mow...you get the idea. 

I have every intention of trying to get some stuff done besides the basics of just taking care of myself but some days it can be a real struggle. 

Anyone else struggle with these things?

Depression and Anxiety

Today is a struggle and yesterday was worse! I wish my brain would be different!

This is a struggle for me because it is hard to talk about.

An appointment is needed because what I am currently taking isn’t working anymore.

I just want everyone to know that you are not alone, I struggle too!

All Things Fall

My favorite time of the year seems so far away. I love fall and always will. It is truly beautiful! I feel more alive during that time of the year then any other time. I can feel the ground vibrating and it just feels like the Earth is transforming into something more beautiful and ominous at the same time. Fall is a time for warm drinks, cozy sweaters, walks in the woods, pumpkin patches, scary movies, and reading books on macabre. I feel it coming but it is so faint. In August, the smell of fall is stronger and you can faintly feel it in the breeze. Yes, I feel very “earthy” and wiccan in the fall. I can just feel the time of year all throughout my body. My body and soul is there but during this time of year, I am more alive!

Does anyone else feel this way? I would love to hear your thoughts on it!

I have noticed that some of the stories have very similar endings. It makes reading the book very repetitive and slightly boring. What is everyone else’s thoughts on this book? Anyone else ready to just have it be over with?

No More Student Loan Payments!

Is anyone else having a hard time getting into this book? I read it for an hour each night and it is a push to do that. I guess I was hoping these stories would be more gruesome.
