It gets better.
If someone told me ten years ago, I’d be who I am now, I wouldn’t believe them.
I have a wonderful husband who loves me even when I don’t love myself. I have a beautiful little boy who makes my world go around. The best friends I could hope for, family who still laughs at my puns and who are there for me. I have so many people who care about me. If only I could have seen that ten years ago.
Ten years ago when I was 16 I tried to take my own life. Thanks to a dear friend and my family, I was not successful. I put the people I love through hell, because I couldn’t see how loved I was. If I had known when I was sixteen, the person I would become, and the life that was possible for me, I don’t think I would have made that choice. The moral of the story here is, IT GETS BETTER!
You are loved, you are not alone, and always keep fighting my friends!!!

Definition of q*****: strange/odd. Using q***** to be the umbrella for LGBT+ goes against everything that the gay rights movement has been working towards for decades, normalization. Queer is a slur that’s been used to ostracize LBGT+ people for so long and I don’t understand why you have to use a word so many of us have been traumatized by. Like. Just do the whole LBGT+ or LBGTQA+ or whatever. Please. I hate having to see that word on your blog which I love so much for it’s inclusive attitude.
Queer has since been reclaimed and I use it because its inclusive and because it means a lot to me
Again, if it bothers you that badly, feel free to unfollow

The Future of the Criminal Justice System in America
I am currently enrolled in my local community colleges Criminal Justice Program. I take online classes because I work full time. I am in my very last semester before I graduate (fucking finally).
Anywho, the point of this post is to vent basically. If any of you don’t know much about the Criminal Justice system in America let me break down some stuff for you.
-It’s not just police:
The Criminal Justice system encompasses local, county, state and federal law enforcement but it also includes Corrections, Probation, Parole, Sentencing, dips into community outreach programs, drug rehabilitation, and juvenile justice has its own set of probation, sentencing etc.
-the most important thing to know about ANY career in CRJ is PAPERWORK. Everyon has to fill out forms about everything to keep everyone accountable and maintain records for court, etc.
-my juvenile justice class instructor had huge posts about this specific thing. How we have to learn to write and learn to do it well. How we often have to edit, revise and rewrite and do spelling and grammar checks.
-so she tells us to type up our answers in a word document and check for spelling and grammar with Words tools before copying and pasting it into the discussion forum.
-y’all.... so many of these college kids, 18/20 in my class, started their discussion responses with a lowercase letter...
-I wish I was shitting you.
-Typos, run on sentences, no punctuation, it’s rampant.
-SHE SPECIFICALLY SAID TO CHECK YOUR SHIT.
-I hope they do not pass this class.
-I do not say that because I am petty, nor do I say it because I’m a stickler for grammar & punctuation or shit like that.
-This isn’t just a pet peeve.
-This shows an insane lack of following directions, or perhaps a lack of reading directions at all.
-This is NOT what the Criminal Justice System needs right now, or ever.
-We need competent, educated individuals who can follow fucking directions.
-So when they don’t have to arrest, they don’t.
-So when they don’t have to throw your probationed/paroled ass back in jail, they don’t.
-So they DO throw your probationed/paroled ass back in the slammer if you’re a threat.
-SO WHEN THEY DONT NEED TO SHOOT FOR GOD SAKES THEY DONT SHOOT!
-Idk about y’all but I want competent, near experts in their fields, dealing with the delicacies of crime, deterrence, incarceration, probation, parole and release. Don’t you?

So I have a finished fic with a Deaf main character. I worked months in advance to study up just so I had my info correct. Consulted lots of Deaf and HoH people. It took some time. And even while posting, I had to fix things here and there because I was advised to. Simple. It’s my 2nd most popular fic ever and people loved it which made me happy.
Someone, who is not D/deaf or HoH, just tried to tell me that I better change every Hard of Hearing to Hearing Impaired because Deaf individuals apparently don’t like HoH since it ‘tiptoes’ around the subject and people who are Hearing Impaired don’t really count as Deaf.
They missed the Author Note where I said if you aren’t a part of that community, your criticism on writing a Deaf character will be ignored because what would you really know about it? Basically, I don’t have autism so I can’t possibly tell someone they are writing an autistic character wrong. So if someone is not part of the Deaf Community in any fashion, they cannot tell me I’m doing it wrong. I will take criticism from my Deaf and HoH readers because they can tell me what I’ve done wrong.

I’m HoH and believe me I prefer that over hearing impaired. I haven’t been hoh my whole life, it just happened a year and a half ago, but when I researched up on my fellow people, it made sense and resonated with me that it kinda... idk stings? Maybe is the word. Idk. Anyway I appreciate your research! Where can I read your fic???

I am hard of hearing and I say, “I didn’t catch that, dude.” So Damn often. And not in a mean way just letting you know I did not pick up what you just put down.
My friends and family usually turn to look at me in the face if they weren’t previously and make sure to enunciate and not mumble if they were.
It’s really like not even a big deal to be like yo, say it again for the ears that slack!
A Question In Fanfiction
So, in whatever fic I decide to do next (it’s looking like Apartments, but we’ll see) I really want to write a Hard of Hearing Jughead because that’s a concept I’m very much in love with ever since the script release about it. Now I have some knowledge about it because my ex-girlfriend and her mother were both HOH, but I also want to do it right, without stereotypes and what not, so I’m wondering if anyone has any advice for me on this?

I feel like i already commented on this thread somewhere but I have a shit memory from a brain surgery so here we go again!
My town has this cafe. It’s called Jen’s Joe and they have a BIG pride flag hanging out their window on one of the busiest streets in Carbondale. Makes my day a little brighter when I see it. I went there once, coffee was amazing and they had little chocolate covered coffee bean things to try and I had one and the lady behind the counter said my son could have one if it was okay with me.
Spoiler: it was.
Then I let him run it out in the mall.
But the moral of the story is, everyone in there was so comfortable with themselves and the two gay ladies who own it. A dude in a business suit was in there with his dog and a business lady was in there laughing with the lady behind the counter.
Next time I go I will give another update.
Reasons LGBT cafes should exist
Non-sexualized spaces
Inclusive so u don’t have to out urself
No alcohol so younger ppl have full access
I fukkin love chai lattes
No pressure to find hook-ups, lookin at you my aro/ace pals
No need to socialize u can literally sit at a table and be gay all by ur self
Please make these a thing
