I was at a career fair and I was talking to one of the recruiters. She offhandedly mentioned that she was deaf in her right ear. I went “Omg, me too except in my left ear!”. When she went to respond I turned my right ear towards her to be able to hear what she said and she started laughing because she does the exact same thing with her good ear.

Just watched ep 1 of Dead Boy Detectives and why are the subtitles (English CC) so bad? They left out SO MANY WORDS.

Happy disability pride month to those who use ASL as their primary language, and those who don't know ASL at all. Happy disability pride month to those with equal hearing loss in both ears, and to those with uneven hearing loss or hearing loss that only effects one ear. Happy disability pride month to those who were born with their hearing loss, and happy disability pride month to those who acquired their hearing loss over their lifetime. if you want to learn sign language of any kind your one and only reason for it should be proper person to person communication. not because it's "so beautiful", not so you can talk shit and nothing else, not so you can say swear words without other people knowing.

if you're learning sign language your one and only reason should be to communicate with people who use sign language. learning sign language means learning about an entire complicated, extremely important culture and the people who are a part of that culture.

you can not learn sign language without learning about d/Deaf culture in depth. it also means learning to stay in your lane on d/Deaf issues. learning sign language and learning about d/Deaf culture does not mean you get to speak on d/Deaf issues, and a lot of hearing people don't realize that.

The way the Echo show portrays communication is phenomenal. For a deaf/hoh person, sign language is the prominent form of communication. Every person that truly cares for Maya incorporates sign into conversation. Which further proves the point that Fisk doesn’t care. He starts with interpreter. A completely separate person to communicate for him. Then creates a piece of technology that does the same thing. But he never learns sign. He never actually puts in the effort to actually communicate with her.

I was inspired by a certain movie scene to draw this a year ago. Twilight is in my opinion the heart of the group. Should another of his kin be suffering, he does anything he can to help. Emotional support wolf included.
