Wow! We’re finally at fifty episodes! Can you believe it? It’s time to finally announce the tiers and rewards of our Patreon. Located in Bear Creek, NC, this circle patch of land is completely barren. It's the subject of many local legends and lore, for good reasons. It's definitely at least kind of haunted, right? Stephanie follows up educating listenerz about the 27 Club. Many celebrities (primarily musicians) have mysteriously died suddenly at the age of 27. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse are some of its more famous members. The phenomenon has fascinated and inspired many bewildered fans.

Ooh, girl! Ripped from the headlines! Stephanie’s story is first and it’s already been made into an HBO Documentary and a mini series by Hulu! The murder of Dee Dee Blanchard rocked her small town in Missouri. No one could figure out who could kill this sweet single mother caring for her only child, Gypsy Rose, who had special needs. The answer was shocking. The motive was even more so. Sarah follows up with a good old fashioned ghost story! The Joshua Ward House is in Salem, Massachusetts has a history pre-dating the witch trials. Torture and torment have plagued the house for over a century. Noises in the night and apparitions still haunt the patrons of what is now the Merchant Hotel. Hear some of the sorted past on this week’s episode.

Did you know that in 2003 Avril Lavigne was replaced by a lookalike named Melissa? Sarah starts off this week’s episode by telling us all about this popular conspiracy theory that began in 2005. There is crucial evidence to substantiate the claim. For example, Avril liked pants, but Melissa likes dresses. What?! I know. Stephanie follows up with a pretty heavy story and the second part of her ode to Wondery with the story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch aka Dr. Death. Duntsch was a practicing neurosurgeon in the Dallas, TX area from 2010-2013. In that time two patients died, four were left paralyzed, and many more were left maimed. The unbelievable true story exposed flaws in both the medical system and the ways we seek justice around it. Don’t miss it.

The body is capable of some amazing, disgusting, horrible things. Thanks to the “Poop Facts” daily calendar Mariangela got Sarah for Christmas, she bring some of the worst information you’ve never wanted to know about getting backed up.

Stephanie tells us about the notorious Ted Bundy and his prolific crimes in the northwestern United States. Bundy brutalized women in Seattle and the surrounding area, but bounced across state lines. He used his knowledge of the legal system to evade capture for over a decade. The legacy of his crimes is still felt in today’s culture.

Sarah’s story is actually the part one of our first ever two part story! Calling this segment “Unhappy Storiez from the Happiest Place on Earth,” Sarah tells us about the multiple unfortunate deaths that have occurred at Disneyland and Disney World parks. While Disney is revered for its beautiful parks, the name has been besmirched by some horrible deaths. Most of these can be attributed to rider error, but the results are tragic all the same. Many regulations and changes have made in the park industry in the time since, but the spirits of those that died there may still remain.

Sarah starts the show with a story from one of our listenerz. Jo grew up in a haunted house. While she has many memories of eerie things happening to her in and around the home, she will never forget the first time a ghost actually touched her. After the email, Sarah brings us the varying stories of the Lady in Black of Arkansas. There are many legends with different origins, each grizzlier than the last.

Stephanie follows with one of the most notorious American serial killers of all time, Jeffrey Dahmer. While there is a wealth of information on his crimes, Stephanie also adds the story of having seen Josh Hitchens’s one man show, The Confessions of Jeffrey Dahmer. (You may remember him as our first guest in October 2018 in E21: Guestoberfest: Haunted People.) Dahmer raped, murdered, and cannibalized many young men of color in Milwaukee from 1978 to 1991. Josh’s show brought the murderer to life in way that even hearing about can bring you chills.

Anyway, Stephanie starts us off by telling us a bit about Blackbeard, the notorious pirate who spent much of his time off the coast of North Carolina. Teach’s Hole is his final resting place, but his ghost is far from restful. Sarah follows it up by telling us about the Demon of Brownsville Road in Pittsburg, PA. Republican County Commissioner Bob Cranmer was one of he residents haunted by the demon when his family moved into a home on Brownsville in December of 1988. After multiple exorcisms and more occurrences in the house, Cranmer released a book about their experiences in 2014.

A Russian academic and linguist, Moskvin was arrested in 2011 when it was discovered that he had mummified and collected the corpses of twenty-six young girls. His motives and methods will leave you even more shook. Stephanie follows with Aokigahara Forest in Japan. It’s the world’s second most popular suicide destination, hence its nickname, “Suicide Forest.” It’s geography and history make it no surprise. You’ll learn a lot and maybe wish you didn’t.

Two women named Mary Morris were murdered within days of each other in Houston, TX. Other than their first and last names, and a somewhat similar appearance, the two women were in no way connected. Sarah tells us about Hotel Cecil. Recently rebranded as the Stay on Main, this hotel has a long and sorted past with murders, suicide, hauntings, and the death of a famous blogger, Elisa Lam in 2013.
