Update

Hi everyone!

I hope all of you are doing well. I know I've been MIA for a few months and that has worried readers. I just want to let everyone know that I'm not abandoning anything! The thing is that I got a job within my career field, but at the same time I'm working two jobs, so my free time is limited to just getting home to eat and sleep. I am hoping to be a little free in August to write! Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know what was happening and to alleviate worries. I have missed hearing from you! 🥲

HIIIIIIIII!! long time no see. I just read your newest KP fic! Falling ashes like starlight? How do you do it? How do you manage to floor us every time with your writing? I am more VP than KP. I rarely ever read KP but oh my god! Your KP pairing??? Chef's kiss. And your VP always makes me want more and more. Like I always want to know what happens next? In my head now that Vegas knows the code to the flat, Pete in this au, often finds this raven of a Theerapanyakun nesting around in his flat. Sometimes lounging decked in his expensive silk shirts, sometimes drenched in blood. I think Macau comes around too. A safe space when the world seems a bit too big and disorienting. And oh!! I desperately want to see Vegas feeding Pete ( after finding out one too many times the leftovers rotting away in the fridge).

Anyway your writing made me realise something. Both Kinn and Vegas are possessive. But Kinn comes in and says: you are mine, no matter what you say, you are mine. He comes in like a wrecking ball, beating against the walls till all of it vibrates to his frequency chanting yours yours yours. He would burn down the world for what is his.

Vegas on the other hand, drips down like water. Drenching every part of you, and says of course you are mine, how can you not be when I see everything that you are and I will never turn away? He is like, let me fill your lungs with water, let me show you how much better I am than any air that you can breathe. He will choke and drown the world in blood for what is his.

I am sorry I sound unhinged but I absolutely loved loved loved your fic!

Duolingo Sucks, Now What?: A Guide

Now that the quality of Duolingo has fallen (even more) due to AI and people are more willing to make the jump here are just some alternative apps and what languages they have:

"I just want an identical experience to DL"

Busuu (Languages: Spanish, Japanese, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Korean)

"I want a good audio-based app"

Language Transfer (Languages: French, Swahili, Italian, Greek, German, Turkish, Arabic, Spanish, English for Spanish Speakers)

"I want a good audio-based app and money's no object"

Pimsleur (Literally so many languages)

Glossika (Also a lot of languages, but minority languages are free)

*anecdote: I borrowed my brother's Japanese Pimsleur CD as a kid and I still remember how to say the weather is nice over a decade later. You can find the CDs at libraries and "other" places I'm sure.

Mango (Languages: So many and the endangered/Indigenous courses are free even if you don't have a library that has a partnership with Mango)

Transparent Language: (Languages: THE MOST! Also the one that has the widest variety of African languages! Perhaps the most diverse in ESL and learning a foreign language not in English)

AnkiDroid: (Theoretically all languages, pre-made decks can be found easily)

"I want SRS flashcards and I have an iphone"

AnkiApp: It's almost as good as AnkiDroid and free compared to the official Anki app for iphone

"I don't mind ads and just want to learn Korean"
