Me when I was 14: ugh. I hate people. I hate kids. I hate my family. I hate everything and everyone. The world is poison and love isn’t real. I wish I was dead.

Me now: I love humanity and its innate goodness, even if it’s hard to read neurotypical people sometimes. I love kids and how they’re just learning to be people and they’re sticky and loud and it’s beautiful. I love the parts of my family that stuck around when I transitioned and have grown with me through the years. I love life and all the big and medium and small things that make it worth living. I love flowers and snow and rain and sunshine and cooking and crafts and painting and video games and my job and the library and writing and doctors who don’t brush off my problems and my meme blog and my readers. I love my in-person friends and my online friends and how they make my days brighter and think I’m funny and kind and always remember my birthday. I love that *they’re* so funny and kind, too. I love being there for my loved ones and I love that they’re here for me. I love my big, fat cat and I love my siblings’ cats and I love book clubs and music and my mentor and shopping for groceries. I love reading and I love wearing clothes that make me feel good and I love being queer. I love so many things and know love is real and life, while difficult, is worth every second. I’m so glad I stuck around.

I’m so excited for Zora May! I plan on posting 10 ficlets (two a week) instead of my usual one big fic the first Sunday of the month. So far I’ve written seven of the ficlets, for the prompts ‘festival’, ‘rainfall’, ‘mythology’, ‘music’, ‘crabby’, ‘message in a bottle,’ and ‘companion’. I’m thinking I’ll make ‘companion’ a two-parter to give it more emotional depth. I plan on also doing ‘river Zora’, but I’m not sure what the last one will be.

All this to say, I’m very excited!
