So, I know that this is the five thousand and fifteenth Superman post about his costume, and I have some ideas that I would looove to see somewhere for Big Blue's first actual costume.
First, absolutely keep the trunks, and absolutely keep the "thanks, my mom made it for me" line. This is how I would like Martha Kent to come up with the idea:
She sees Clark saving people in jeans and a t-shirt or something, and Ma Kent doesn't like that, she remembers something from when Clark was little. The circus came to Smallville one day (you can make it Haley circus if you want something to connect to other heroes' stories), and a little Clark sees what becomes his favorite act: the Strongman. A man dressed in a striped unitard that's doing incredible feats of strength. Little six year old or so Clark is talking Jonathan and Martha's ears off about how cool it was that there are people that are strong like he is. Back to the present day, Martha takes the cloth from Clark's ship and fashions the iconic suit, trunks and all, all because she remembered how her son loved the circus when he was little.

So, I'm going to share something that bothers me about when people discuss ancient gods, especially so of the Greek deities.
The common thing that I see is people trashing on the gods for their cruelty in myth. It certainly happens in a lot of myths, especially those written down by Ovid (I'm looking at you, the myth of Medusa in the temple). And, in a lot of circumstances, these can be seen as valid critiques. What I have an issue with is when I see these myths and tend to paint the entirety of the ancients' views on these gods as viewing them as cruel, petty, and vindictive beings with no morality or positive aspect. Which makes no sense!
Think about it, even though the rituals and amount of deities (in the western world at large, anyhow) has changed since ancient times, one thing hasn't: we wouldn't worship a being that we don't see as moral to some degree!
A great example is Zeus. Often, we see him as a great sexual predator and not much else. However, we can tell by surviving sources that the thoughts towards Zeus weren't solely or even partially focused on that. Part of this is because ancient Greece as a whole was a pretty sexist society who saw consent in a very different (and very gross) way than we do now. This being said, people sang his praises and worshipped him for aspects that we find respectable! Zeus, as the king of the gods and cosmos, was seen as the ultimate authority on hospitality, to the point where when Tantalus broke sacred rules of hospitality by murdering his son and trying to trick the gods into eating him the first reaction was to cast him into Tartarus for that incredible misdeed. In fact, there are at least two other myths that deal with Zeus punishing people for breaking the rules of hospitality, and it was likely seen as just action!
Now, this being said, not all worship at that time was in order to foster favor. There was worship done out of fear for the gods' abilities as well, such as the fact thar people setting sail would pray to gods to ask them to let them sail in peace.
I guess I'm just tired of people slandering gods from a culture we no longer have direct access to instead of trying to examine why people of that time period would worship those gods.
P.S. Before anyone comes after me, I know that there are branches of modern day paganism that focus on the Greek gods, but that would've been a whole other rant.

You know, the best thing is, I could see the classic Jimmy Olsen stumbling into this kinda thing too. Hell, in the silver age, Jimmy always gets himself into wacky situations, sometimes leading to him getting superpowers, so yeah, super accurate!

So, I just binged the live action One Piece and well..... It was pretty good. There are things they ended up cutting that are a bit disappointing, like
Also, before I go on SPOILERS AHEAD
Anyways, some things they cut that I kinda wish they didn't was the character of Hachi, but they ended up keeping Gin, though they cut the fight at the baratie. Another part they cut out that I kinda find disappointing was finding Gaimon. I get that one though, since his stuff doesn't have a long lasting effect on the series.
I like what they did with Buggy, despite him getting a little annoying at times. And the straw hats were almost spot on, though I feel Luffy was a tad Lawful Good, but still felt like Luffy, Iñaki did am excellent job!
And back to the only other major gripe I had with the series: Gary. Most of the time he didn't feel like Garp, and when he did seemed a little under played. Though his relationship with Koby was pretty cool.
Another part that I think I should mention is the Mihawk fight. As disappointing as it was that Sanji wasn't there to flesh out that development, the part where Zoro vows never to lose again was spot on.
Overall, 7/10. I'd certainly watch it again, but it'll be a while.

So, I'm re-reading the beginning of One Piece before the live action comes out. And I almost forgot what an absolute MENACE Luffy can be. And how much I'm sort of absolutely inspired I am by those moments. That's definitely a part of why he's my favorite.

The way he challenges Nami with his grin here is the absolute BEST.

I think that this logic all hinges on what you consider heroic qualities. While at one point Percy would definitely be considered an antihero, I never thought of him that way. For me, his methods and his motivation in about 95 percent of circumstances are simply heroic.
Trying to save loved ones? Very heroic.
Only killing things that explicitly don't permanently die but have a respawn timer, and even then, in self defense? A little messed up, maybe. But not unheroic methods.
Percy is the only pure anti hero in the whole Percy Jackson series. Hear me out. I know you will say Nico is an anti hero but Nico actually has a classic hero streak inside if you think about it. Just because he was blinded by revenge for a while does not mean his sole motivation in the books was that. Afterwise, he actually thrived to be a hero and did things to save the world, to be a hero. Remember the last book in PJO.
There is not one single action Percy did in the entire saga that was done because he wanted to be a hero rather than to protect his loved ones. He did not question if what he is doing is right before doing it but questioned whether it helped his loved ones. He did not have the want to be accepted by his parent like others.
That is one of the reasons I love Percy.

I just want to preface this with stating that my personal headcanon is that Luffy is Aro/Ace.
But at the same time, Luffy is a stupid, stupid boi and I love him for it. If anyone were to call him ace he'd probably say something like: "What're you talking about? I'm Luffy, not Ace. That's my brother, dummy."

So, I just watched episode 4 of My Adventures with Superman. And I've got hopes for the rest of the season.
First, I don't want to see Lois and Clark get into a huge, melodramatic fight over the whole secret identity thing
Second, I would like for Clark to admit to the secret when Lois explains how she got to know it.
Thirdly, I think it would be nice if Lois agreed to keep his secret and even help him out with being Superman.
Thank you for listening to my completely acceptable and reasonable demands.

I'm SOOOO excited for the live action One Piece. It looks like they put a lot of love into it. One thing I've gotta hope for is that if they're introducing the Arlong crew during Baratie like it looks. I wouldn't mind if instead of having Gin, they had Hachi being the one starving and getting served the free rice.

You know, I've heard a few complaints about Jimmy in the new My Adventures with Superman series, and... What else do they want Jimmy to be like? This feels like a good adaptation of the classic Jimmy Olsen. Sorta goofy and grounding.
