Quick sketched of how I might want to draw Toriel for future fan art.
I made her a soft yellow instead of white to tie back to flowey, I also faded the purple of her tunic to show age and further soften her appearance. I gave her double horns because of that one goat kind that has absolutely ridiculous horns (they're awesome!!)
I draped her slaves for a more religious? look that I feel matches someone taking care of and running ancient ruins (which are often either cities, royal homes or religious places. They seem too small and without many inlets for residing for a city, and I doubt Toriel would be wanting to associate her home with the home she just left so weather it is or isn't she could treat it as a holy site or as just a historical one? Idk). I also gave her an old styling of hip bag (usually worn under a dress but for the looks I put in on the out) and a scent pouch I drew in a way to make her silhouette more goat like.
The symbol in game to me kinda looked like an angel as well so to push that forward I moved the pieces slightly to make a more obvious angel shape. Honestly for such quick sketches I'm very pleased with the amount of thought I put in and also with how well it came out!

Also here's this several days ago, she's like a moon spirit thing that eats the power of werewolves. She's an over powered dc oc that I made to be a villain. Still can't decide who I want her to be the main enemy of but I'm leaning heavily twords superman bc of the sun and moon themes in their powers and I like the idea of a paranormal entity being completely uninterested in the people who normally would deal with them, like Constantine or other magically intertwine individuals I can't think of at the moment. She just wants to drain superman of his powers after turning him into a werewolf ya know.

In my head I can't imagine Underfell Papyrus having the same eyes as Undertale Pap.
I also can't decide how I want to draw his clothes so I took the opportunity to show off the bone tint I think all papyrus' would have. I imagine that because a lot of human trash winds up in the underground they have some human medicines as well. There are some human meds that will tint your bones different colors, like blacks or dark blues, and maybe the different Papyrus' where given some when they got sick as kids and no one knew it would effect skeletons like that in the underground. You can see patches where the tint has raised over time and a part of his skull that still has that bruised look bc of the tint. I put it on his range as well but it looks very similar to the shading so I'll try harder next time. Maybe.
Idk I thought it would be a cool idea to play around with and it lets me continue to draw his bones when he wears his various outfits! I don't know why I like drawing bones so much, I'm going to blame playing this game in middle school. Its also why my sense of humor is the way it is.
I also drew his soul with red in it bc I like to imagine it that way, its still supposed to be mostly white but to when I added the glow it turned more pink than anything.
Also now that I've typed all this out I want to draw a slightly younger Paps with his bones, skull included, fully tinted from the medicine. It would look so cool! Plus with Fell Paps soul being the way it is it might even look a little bad ass!

Undertale is helping me out out my funk. Idk, I feel a little happier drawing, I haven't gotten any better but I feel happier.
I like to imagine that Papyrus' battle body is part actual monster armour for skeletons and part textile waste from the surface that he cleaned up and sewed to fit himself. I also wanted to play with the folds of Sans' clothes. They're not realistic but they were fun! I also have him a little heart badge that Pap sewed for him and I removed his socks from his design because of he refuses to pick any of them up off the floor then he certainly doesn't have the energy to clean any others.
Combined these took about three hours, I had to redo some bone studies before I drew them because I wanted them to look nice.
Tumblr media
I think I simplified the structure pretty ok like, wound up having to cover some of my favorite parts to draw tho... Oh well!

Thoughts on Severus’s first year as a Professor:
Severus taught 7th years who were 17/18 at 21 or 22. Pretty sure he was a child prodigy. Graduated only 4 years earlier. You know he had to grow a thick skin to gain respect. My high school classmates gave our student teachers in their twenties hell to the point of tears and rage. I try to imagine what it must have been like for Severus to teach students who would have been his peers in his last year, perhaps having witnessed or even joined in the bullying of him as a teen. It must have taken a tremendous amount of self control and dignity to deal with that level of pressure and potential ridicule (is this where the punishments for cheeky disrespect originated?).
At the time he started teaching (21 or 22 for a reminder) he had already rewritten the school textbook and was likely writing his own recipes instead of the books brewing instructions. He had invented spells himself on numerous occasions and yet he was in a position of teaching high school level. He must have felt highly unstimulated.
Severus was made Head of House when he was between the ages of 21 and 24, in charge of students only 4 years younger whom he had to gain the respect and confidence of. This is an enormous task to ask of someone so young but he pulled it off without a hitch.
Slytherin started its House Cup winning streak when Severus was only 24. That is an outstanding achievement for a man who only started teaching 3 years ago. Not only that but they won it for seven consecutive years, an even more amazing feat when you consider that he never awards points to his own house. Slytherin succeeds on their own merits despite 3/4 of the school hating them enough to cheer when they lose.
Might go unnoticed (I haven’t seen this mentioned before correct me if I’m wrong), but I’ve just realized in full force that Severus taught for the first time and took on all that responsibility on the same year of the worst day of his life. Lily died in October and he presumably started teaching that following September. That means he had less than a year to grieve if that before taking on responsibilities that would shudder most young adults without all that pressure of depression. Getting out of bed must have been a monumental struggle.
Students openly mock Severus for his appearance and clothing and personality on a regular basis. Since the Marauders bullied him till the end of his school years and students taunted him as a teacher you could almost argue that the torment over his appearance never really ended for him. Sad.
Severus carries himself with such dignity and poise that he did not possess as a teen. What brought about this change in him to command an entire class? Did McGonagall teach him? Did he practice it in himself? We’ll never know but it fascinates me.

“DON’T–” screamed Snape, and his face was suddenly demented, inhuman, as though he was in as much pain as the yelping, howling dog stuck in the burning house behind them–“CALL ME COWARD!”

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion, but more people should read incomplete/unfinished/in-progress fanfics.
I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.
The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.
Anyways, support your favorite fanfic writers by engaging with their WIPs.
