— responses to "i don't deserve you" ✧˚ ༘ ⋆。˚
just a lil angst woohoo, enjoy
"what makes you think that?"
"please don't say that"
"that's not true"
"what can i do to change that idea"
"if you think i am going to validate your pessimistic thoughts, then you're wrong"
"you are more than deserving of me"
"why are you underestimating your worth to me?"
"could you elaborate on what made you say that?"
"i'm the only one who gets to decide if someone deserves me, and i can confidently say you are that someone who does"
"then i don't deserve you either"
"don't ever utter those words again, i'm begging you"
"i won't allow you to use self-sabotage as a mean to end our relationship"
"don't go down that path"
"i hope you do find someone that you deserve then"
"is this how it ends?"
"you're right, i do deserve better"

— studying with a lover prompt •°. *࿐
happy finals season, enjoy!
planning to be extremely productive, only for it to backfire because your partner is so beautiful to not stare at
“love, if you keep distracting me like this i fear i won’t get anything done” “but all i did was just look at you?”
listening to music together out of the same wired earbud
aimlessly doodling in your lover’s notebook
trying to do the pomodoro technique just for both of you to take longer breaks than you're supposed to
“if we both focus up, the quicker we can cuddle each other back home” "all of a sudden im very focused"
giving each other small, gentle pecks as a reward after completing a question
"quick coffee break?"
fighting the urge to make-out with them right then and there in the library
stroking their hand with your thumb as a mean of comforting them
"i don't think i can handle this anymore" "come, let's hug our stress out for a bit"
embracing the sound of typing or pencil writing filling the silence as both of you finally concentrate
them finishing their studies earlier than you, so they try to take a nap on your lap whilst you’re internally screaming about how cute they are
"let's just go home i can finish this on another day"
"that was fun, let's do that again" "we have to be more productive to pass my classes though..."

@promptsh20 brings you:
“This…might be love at first sight for me.” A strangers to lovers prompt list.
Unintentionally locking eyes at an event so much that it’s almost comical, if not embarrassing.
Both of them meeting somewhere once, than continuously running into each other after.
“Listen, how about you give me your number? I really want to keep talking, It’s just…I ran three blocks to catch you and I’m gonna be late for work.”
Holding each other’s hands longer than necessary during an introductory handshake, categorizing it as being polite and not deeply enamoured.
“It’s you again!” “It’s me.”
The weirdest feeling that they can tell each other anything after finding out the other existed moments ago.
One asking the other for directions somewhere only to find out that they both are going to the same place.
“Hi, has anyone told you I’ve been looking for you?” “No…you were looking for me?” “Yeah, your not easy to find by the way.”
When one finds the other at a low point or at their worst upon first meeting and just, wants to help them. It’s not something that could ever be explained reasonably, just a sudden sense of this person needs me.
One going to a new place and seeing the other then returning filled with the anticipation to see them again, while the other awaits their return.
“Do you feel what I’m feeling? Or am I crazy?” “No, your not crazy.”
Passing each other on the street then sharing awkward smiles over the shoulder after having done an absolutely shameless double take on each other.
One buying the other their exact drink order at a café and having it sent to their seat, enjoying the way other’s eyes search for them in the shop.
“It’s good to see you again.”
After meeting each other, they frequently find the topic of soulmates crossing their minds.
Both of them touching hands after reaching for the same book in a bookshop, locking eyes instead, before dropping hands.
“Let’s exchange contact info okay? I can’t lose you again.”
One moving or guiding the other out of the way of something then apologizing, unable to explain the way it felt so natural them.
Hesitant with their true first impressions of each other in respect of the possible partners or relationships the other may have or be in.
“So, do you always hang out here?” “Nah, I was just hoping I’d see you again.”
A minuscule glimpse of the colour they last saw the other in causing their heart to thunder inside their chest. Suddenly their shirt choice and hair state is vital, if it’s them, they want to be recognizable, like the first time.
“I want you to know me.”
Finally accepting that they might never see each other again despite hitting it off immediately, only for both of them to be unknowingly involved in something together the next day leaving both pleasantly surprised.
Being so caught up in each other that they exchange numbers and only realizing later they hadn’t even shared names.
“How about this, you come by my work later. We’ll talk a little bit and you’ll brighten up my day. Sounds like a win win hm?”
One returning to the spot they’d first met the other daily in hopes that they’ll be lucky and the other will show up in their life again.
When exchanging names feels like completing a part of a puzzle, because it’s not what they imagined for the other but better, it fits them perfectly.
“I didn’t think I’d get a chance to talk with you again with how we met.” “I know, I don’t plan on wasting it this time.”
Both of them asking everyone about the other at an event. The contents of the questions mainly concerning if the other is single or seeing anyone.
“I feel like I’ve known you forever and we just met today.”
Wishing that they could both fit everything they need to know about each other in the few minutes that they have together.
Other again despite hitting it off immediately, only for both of them to be unknowingly involved in something together the next day leaving both pleasantly surprised.

A Spark Through Snowfall ❄️🎄
Kakashi x Reader - Fluff
{Drabble from holiday prompts}
------------------------------------------------------
Standing in front of a dark tree in the center of the village while the woman beside him shivered didn't seem like the best start to the outing. A few moments later he felt someone move his arm from behind to wrap around her. Based on the rushed walk of a certain shiny-haired shinobi, Kakashi could guess who.
It ended up being for the best though, as she leaned against his arm for warmth and he didn't find himself pulling away.
"Are you okay?" He asked after some time. Even with his mask on, the cold was rather bitter.
"Mmhm." She said between chattered teeth.
"Maybe we should go inside." He offered and began to pull away but she quickly clung onto him with a fervent shake of her head.
"We need to see them light the tree." She said, her eyes staring straight at the dark silloute.
The tree was lit every year, but Kakashi couldn't say he ever bothered to see when it happened. Usually it was just something that wasn't there until it was. He wasn't sure what all the fuss was about but... that look in her eyes said that this was important to her.
"Alright. We'll stay." He said, his voice calm and smooth.
Soon music began to play. Soft and almost nostalgic. The countdown began, and he could feel her begin to jump a bit from the excitement. He held her closer as he kept his eyes on her.
A moment later... the light encompassed the darkness in a brilliance of colors and sparkles. Kakashi first saw the tree through the reflection of her eyes and somehow... it felt so much more beautiful that way.
She was staring at the stunning display in awe for a while before she realized that Kakashi was looking at her instead. She chuckled softly. "You're not going to look at the tree?"
He gazed into her eyes. "I am." He said, confusing yet delighting her the moment he took off his mask and gave her a kiss just as the snow began to fall.
With a gasp, she carefully wrapped her arms around his neck, cupping the back of his head with her palm as they embraced. Once they pulled away, there was snow on her hair, and she giggled as she realized she couldn't even see the snow on his white hair. It all blended in.
Her cheeks were warm despite the cold, blushing with pink lips. "My first kiss on my first date? I feel so lucky." She smiled.
He raised his eyebrows slightly, pulling up his mask. Mostly from shyness. "Mm. Date?"
She laughed. "You didn't know?"
"Not... really." He admitted, putting his hands in his pockets, but she put her hands in his pockets too, keeping close.
"That's okay. Now you know." She winked, then kissed his cheek over his mask. "We should get you warm."
"Me warm?" He said with playful snark.
"Yes, you. Come on. I'll make you hot coco." She said, moving her hands out of his pockets so she could loop one of her arms through his and lead him away.
"Make it... where?"
"At my house."
"We're going to your house?"
"Mmhm. If you want."
"Who... else is going to be there?"
"Just you and me." She said, and he swore he heard a hint of a flirt in her tone. "That okay?"
He was quiet for a while, seeing the other couples all cuddled up and realizing for once that... he was now one of them. A part of a couple. It was strange... but in a good way.
"I'd like that." He said simply, his voice warm and content.
It had always been just another season, another day... but now, for the first time, it truly felt like more than that. Finally... Kakashi understood what all the fuss was about.

The Season of Giving 🎁
Holiday Prompt - Fluff
Kakashi x Reader
(Drabble)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You know you didn't have to get me anything." Kakashi said. Before him, was the sight of a very beautiful woman backlight by the warm lighting of a fireplace in a cabin in the mountains.
It was a yearly retreat for many shinobi who often didn't have families to go to for the holidays.
"I know." She said with a soft smile as she held the gift covered in shiny red paper that matched her dress. "I just thought it'd be nice. Especially since you've been so kind to me."
"But I... uh..." Kakashi looked around at the others exchanging presents. "I didn't... get you anything."
She tilted her head. "And that matters because...?"
His already usual blasé expression deadpanned. "_____."
"Yeah yeah." She waved off the issue and pushed the present towards him.
He was now staring at the shiny silver bow like it was tempting him to open the pretty box.
"Alright, well... thank you." He said politely and took the gift, unwrapping it somewhat methodically until... "This.... this isn't-"
"Mmhm! A pre-release copy of the new Icha Icha book." She said proudly.
"Wow, this is..." His eye glimmered, containing the excitement practically vibrating off of him. He cleared his throat to calm down. "Great."
"You know what?"
"Hm?" He was already reading the back.
"I think a good gift would be if you let me read it with you." She said with a sly smile.
He chuckled nervously. "Uh... read it with me? You... know what kind of book this is, right?"
"We're both adults. I think we can handle it." She winked then smiled. "I'm glad you like it."
He moved his gaze from the book to her instead and wrapped his arms around her in a rare hug from the man. "Thank you."
"You're more than worth it." She said with a gentle squeeze as she held him back.
Nothing made her happier than seeing that glimmer in his eye. Even that alone was more than enough of a gift for her.
Kakashi The Bride Thief:
Part 5
Warnings ⚠️: Suggestive themes and situations
Read part 1 here:
Notes: Sorry for the wait! Thanks to all who've read, liked or commented. ♡
Within that next week there wasn't a day that went by that didn't have Kakashi's brain wracking with anxiety. Wondering if he should go out of his way to talk to her or not. Frequently he decided on the latter. But why? He'd shared a kiss with her hadn't he?
It was just a one time thing. A slip up on his part, letting his emotions control him. If he didn't allow himself to be alone with her that couldn't happen again.
However, one day he saw her and it was practically guaranteed that she would see him.
_____ noticed him even mid-conversation with someone else. With a twirl of her hair she turned with a gasp and a wave. "Kakashi!"
The silver-haired shinobi kept his eyes forward, free of distractions, hands in pockets as he walked up, then past her. Not sparing her even a glance.
That didn't mean he hadn't seen the repercussions in his peripheral vision though. The way his rejection changed her expression hit him like a punch in the gut, seeing her face slowly drop, her posture sinking along with it.
He was convinced this was for the best. If he didn't disappoint her now, he'd do so later, or worse.
Then, a few hours later, as he walked in the dimming light of the shinobi village, as the shadows fell and succumbed to darkness he heard the light kick of dust from her shoes walking closer to him.
The village was quiet at the outskirts.
Kakashi glanced over to her with a hum as if he'd just noticed her existence. "Hm? Did you need something?"
She didn't respond, she didn't look at him. The kunoichi just kept on her path.
Oh. That's right... he'd been rude.
"I'm sorry about before. I'm not really good at this."
She still didn't respond, she simply kept walking.
The weight of her silence crushed him motionless. _____ never ignored him. Even at his worst, she'd acknowledge him. It was enough for him to stare down at the floor, hair flopping forward. Pondering all of his life's failures in one moment.
It hurt so much more to have her ignore him, yet he'd ignored or overlooked her for years. Why did he ever think he deserved to kiss her?
She stopped and she turned, face defiant and betrayed. "Who's that woman you were talking to yesterday?"
He looked up at her. Had he spoken to a woman recently? He honestly couldn't recall. "I'm... not sure what you mean."
"Just forget it okay?"
She turned halfway.
"Are you jealous?" He asked, probably more amused than he should have dared.
That kept her from leaving.
"Don't feel embarrassed." He said without hesitation, surprising her. "After all, I'm an offender myself."
"You? Jealous? O-Of what?"
He stepped closer. "Of any man who can talk to you without their hands shaking."
A glimmer of a smile to her lips. "Your hands don't shake."
"I don't let them."
Again, that tension pulled, twisted between them, steps taken forward and eyes locked together. "Why didn't you say hi to me?" _____ asked.
The tips of his fingers drifted towards hers. "We shouldn't be together, _____. And I don't want..." He sighed, head flopping down in defeat again before he mumbled. "I don't want anyone to know that I like you."
"Kashi..." She said softly, protected by the silence of the village in the growing evening. "You like me?"
He threw his head back, hair flipping up in a fluff, hands in pockets nonchalantly. "Don't make me explain."
"Answer my previous question then, Hatake."
"Hm?" He was lost in her eyes.
"That woman you were talking to?" Her hand sat on her hip.
"I honestly don't remember. Do you know what she looked like?"
"You're kidding!"
"I'm not."
"Blonde woman at the market. She was flirting with you." She said.
"Me?"
"Yes. She put her hand on your shoulder." She kept her resolve... but not good enough, her voice wavered at the end.
"And did you see what happened after that?" Kakashi asked gently, having remembered what she was talking about.
She shook her head.
Kakashi stepped closer, then bent forward a bit to be nearly nose to nose with her. "I left."
She smiled with a hum. "Did you?"
"Of course, I'm not interested in a relationship with anyone." He leaned back once more.
Her breath stuttered. Oh no. Her eyes brimmed with tears. Her cute bottom lip pouted ever so slightly and just before her tears fell he panicked and did the first thing he could think of. He lifted her up and carried her over his shoulder.
She squeaked as he quickly dashed off to his apartment, soon enough setting her down inside and closing the door.
He looked at her face again, dewy eyes but otherwise alright. Kakashi breathed a shaky sigh of relief. "Please don't ever cry again."
"I-I wasn't!" She defended.
"Yes, you were." He stated, a hint of warmth despite his factuality. "Listen, _____. It's not safe for you to be pursuing a Shinobi as a husband. As your friend I'd advise you against it."
"So... we're friends?" She asked, eyes locked onto his own as she stepped forward with grace. "And who said I was looking to marry this uh 'shinobi man' right away hm?"
Kakashi looked down at her as she wrapped her arms around him, a gruff sound escaping his lips as she pressed close.
"Or are you referring to Jiro?" She asked.
"No." He said simply.
"Then you?"
Kakashi was silent looking to the side with some mix of annoyance and pouting. His silver hair flipped to the side with him in protest.
"We don't have to get married, Kakashi." She said with a soft smile, gently guiding him to look at her. "You don't even have to tell me you love me. I'll know if you do by how you are with me." _____ held his hands and brought them to rest on her hips. "There's no rules on relationships, you know?"
"Mm..." He hummed. "But is that what you want?"
"Yes."
Even he couldn't doubt the certainty in her eyes, the care in her smile. He'd known for a while but ignored it for so long, exactly what that look she gave him meant.
She was in love with him.
"I don't deserve you, _____." They were the words he'd thought each time he saw her.
Her fingers carded through his silver locks, soon caressing his face. "Don't say such things. I... I want to be with you."
Kakashi shook his head. "A life with me wouldn't truly be one." His fingers moved across to caress her jaw.
"But Kakashi I-"
"But..." He cooed, his voice more soothing yet sure. "If you'd like me to be your first, to be the man you have in between finding your true lover... I could be that." He ran the pad of his thumb across her bottom lip. "Only if you'd agree of course." After a few moments of silent tension between them he asked, "Do you want me, _____?"
She whimpered softly, her lips parted and she felt his thumb, a bit of the glove running on the inside pink of her lips. Silently she nodded, so pliable that it clouded his judgment, knowing how he could bend her however he wanted.
Kakashi picked her up in one fluid motion and set her on the counter, soon pushing his thumb into her mouth and watching as she instinctively sucked on it, spreading her legs. His free hand went down to her thighs, pressing firm and possessive. "Unless... I wouldn't be your first?"
_____ shook her head and moaned softly as she suckled harder, taking his thumb deeper into his mouth, making him groan from the thought of her being so fervent with something else of his. She released his finger with a pop, cherry lips a bit glossy. "You'd be my first everything. You were already my first kiss."
His hands roamed her plush thighs, squeezing and caressing them like the treasure they were to him.
"W-Will I be your first?" She asked.
Kakashi hadn't expected that and he sighed, looking away. "Well, yes, and no."
"Oh." She hopped down off the counter and he should have seen that as the cue to explain but instead he was tongue tied for too long.
Eventually the silence overtook the mood and she fixed her dress. "I um... I should get going."
Finally, he snapped to his senses, but it was too late. "_____-"
She left...
She left, and he didn't follow.
Boots weighted to the floor like magnets.
He was being selfish anyway.
A woman like her... deserved so much better.
Kakashi The Bride Thief: Part 4
Rating: M - Mature ⚠️ 18+ Only Interact! ⚠️
Paring: Female Reader Insert x Kakashi Hatake (Third person pov)
Warnings: Sexual themes/descriptions
Notes: Thank you for requesting part 4! Read part 1 here!
On the dawn of the last day before her journey, Kakashi went for a walk. There he found her sitting atop a cliff beside a waterfall he usually liked to read by.
"Up early?" He said, his voice far too steady considering his true emotions.
"Mmhm." She shrugged. "Couldn't sleep."
"Thinking, I imagine." He mused. "Do you... wanna talk about it?"
She looked up at him with a funny smile. "That's sweet of you but... I'm afraid not."
"Well." He squat down to her level. "I'd like to talk, if that's alright."
She nodded in agreement yet her expression was still melancholy.
"Growing up... I guess I always saw you around without really thinking about it. I saw you watch me during my exams, I saw you try and fail repeatedly to walk up a tree after seeing me do it, and I frequently ended up in your care during my days in ANBU." His voice was even, with a hint of warmth to it.
Her cheeks were pink and she stayed quiet as the breeze swept through them both. Kakashi sat down beside her now, both of their legs dangling off the edge. "I know you went out of your way to be there for me, even when... I didn't want you to. Sneaking me lunches without notes, working nights when I was injured so I wouldn't be alone." He sighed softly and ran his fingers through his hair. "I guess what I'm trying to say is... that I appreciate you. Being there. Being here."
She looked at him then, her eyes welling up with tears, happiness in each glisten, as if she'd been aching to hear those words from him all her life. "Thank you. For telling me that. It... really means a lot."
He acknowledged her feelings with a nod and together they sat in the comfortable silence and beautiful scenery before she spoke up once more.
"If you felt... okay to be selfish for one thing. Just one. What would it be right now?" She asked.
And without more than a breath he answered. "I'd want you to stay. Here." He spoke his truth despite the guilt and shame in his gut.
"Well." _____ stood up and put her hands on her hips as she looked out at the horizon, the rising sun. "Then I'll stay."
Frozen in time, he barely processed her words. "What? Wait, I-" He stood up to face her but she'd backed away with a smile, hands behind her back.
"You're doing me a favor Kakashi. I didn't really want to go anyway. I just... was hoping someone would give me a reason." Her eyes glimmered and she felt satisfied once his posture relaxed and his eye looked less tense.
"Dinner. Tomorrow. My place. Okay?" She said, leaning towards him much like he did to her not too long ago. "Six. And don't be late." She teased.
He wanted to protest but finally, for once... he found himself unable to deny her. "You have my word."
~~~
Kakashi was on time for the first time in who knows how long. Although, he still kept his routine of speaking to his fallen comrades and this time he had something different to say than usual.
I've convinced _____ to stay in the village. You remember her, right? Well... she invited me to dinner. I just hope that I haven't... made a mistake.
Kakashi was internally terrified that his involvement would somehow start a chain of events that led to her death or suffering but... he tried, for now, standing outside her door, to not think depressive thoughts.
Still, he did wonder where she was. He'd knocked several times with no answer. For a moment he thought maybe she stood him up but that was quickly tossed aside. One, the girl was far too sweet to do such a thing and two, this wasn't a date as far as he was aware. No pressure, right?
But then... what if that meant she was hurt somewhere?
And just before his mind could travel the dark path, she came running wearing her doctor's coat over her outfit. "I'm here! I'm here! I'm sorry!" She panted. Hurrying up the steps.
Kakashi leaned against the balcony as if he hadn't been about to scour all of Konoha for her. "Well. Look who's late."
"You're on time! How sweet." She said genuinely between breaths. "Come in!" As she led him inside, Kakashi took off his shoes then glanced around. It was a small apartment like his own except this one was above an empty building.
Inside were a myriad of plants and neatly placed books and various other crafting hobbies. When he looked at _____ again, his breath was stolen from him once again. She'd taken off her white coat and revealed that underneath she wore a short light blue sundress. The one he'd seen her wearing in the bookstore.
Oh... she was so cute.
Too cute, in fact.
She might just be the death of him.
Well, that wouldn’t be the worst death, actually.
"You had a mission before this?" She asked curiously, eyeing him in his usual Jonin gear.
"No I just... uh." He could see the anxiety plain on her face. What did he do wrong? Should he have worn something nice too?
Was this actually supposed to be a date?
"It's alright! Um, I'll just get the food started." She smiled, but the moment she turned around to the kitchen he caught a glimpse of her face, scrunched up like she was upset at herself for something.
Still, it wasn't like Kakashi to pry. She'd let him know if she wanted to. Truthfully, he was a little excited for this home cooked meal. Of course, he knew it would be good since he'd had _____'s cooking before but it had been a long time since he'd had dinner like this. Sure, sometimes kind people would invite him to their homes during his missions, and, sometimes he'd take them up on it if he saw no other way but this felt different than that. More special.
"How did your father and Jiro take the news?" Kakashi asked.
"Not well. As expected." She said with a half smile as she leaned against the counter while she waited for the food to cook.
The rest of the dinner was lovely, _____ enjoyed chatting with Kakashi about their shared love of romance books, well, of what he was willing to indulge. It was mostly her talking and him listening although he insisted that was his preference anyway.
Still, there was a very pressing question on her mind as Kakashi stretched, subtly announcing that he ought to go home now so as not to overstay his welcome.
"Um... Kakashi?"
"Hm?"
"Do you always wear your ninja gear on dates?" She asked, cheeks tinted pink.
His usually non-expressive eyes widened for a full second. "A... date?"
The sudden change of her sweet expression to cold deadpan eyes sent a shiver down his spine. Only relieved when she burst into disbelief. "Kakashi Hatake!"
"Now... just hold on a second-" His hands went up passively.
Suddenly she covered her face with her hands and shook her head, elbows on the table. "I'm such an idiot."
Kakashi felt like he was the real idiot here though. A beautiful, kind, and talented woman was interested in him and all he could do is sit there stupidly.
She moved her hands down, having made up her mind about something. "Just... forget I ever said anything. Okay? I have to go beg Jiro and my father to forgive me." She left to the bedroom and while Kakashi wanted to leap out the window, he found himself weighted to the floor.
_____ came back out wearing that same red dress that she had worn to Guy's birthday party. She was entirely too beautiful and entirely too close to him as she passed by the moment he stood up from his seat.
His eyes caught her every lovely curve and his nose caught her scent.
There it was again.
Thump thump thump.
Kakashi's heart was a drum in his chest.
He reacted without thinking. His palm met her wrist, stopping her from opening the door. "Why are you wearing that?" He asked.
"I'll be able to convince Jiro much easier in this dress, he liked it."
His palm ever so subtly tightened around her skin, fingers curling. "I like it." His voice lowered.
Her breath hitched. In the space between her response, they were panting in unison, desperately pretending they weren't. "Well. You aren't on a date with me." She motioned to leave, he covered her body with his own, her back to the door in a gentle thud.
The moment her body relaxed, she felt his hand drift up her arm, the palm of his glove grazing her skin as his fingers caressed every inch. Silently, they let each moment bleed into the next. He moved slow, waiting for any rejection as his other hand met her waist and he pushed his hips against hers, but was not met with the slightest resistance.
His face nuzzled into her neck, body pressed against her breasts, long fingers drifting down to tease at the soft skin of her thighs under the hem of her dress.
"Only wear this for me..." He murmured low into her ear, his mouth, covered by his mask, pressed against her. She could feel the shape of his lips, the warmth of his breath, and it only made her want to rip off that offending cloth keeping him away from her, but she didn’t. She was too kind to betray him.
His forehead softly tapped against her own.
It was then that _____ realized that Kakashi wasn't really a man of many words, but rather, a man of many actions. He lifted her leg up around his hip and pressed, a concoction of lust and sweetness, their foreheads touched tenderly, eyes locked, yet their heat proving that their was clear desire as well.
“So quiet.” He teased. “Do you not have an answer for me?” His voice was dangerously melodic, completely in control of the situation.
She found herself succumbing to his wishes, drunk on the intimate feeling of his hardened length rubbing against the heat between her thighs, covered by her panties. Unintentional payback for him keeping his mask on. It clouded her original stubbornness provoked by his lack of direct commitment.
"Only for you..."
He chuckled, low and pleased, perhaps even a bit sadistic, knowing he was stealing her away from another. “Good.”
~~~
That night, in the safety of his bedroom, Kakashi was confused and frustrated. Both sexually and emotionally.
The only time he ever felt anything remotely close to, well, the way an ordinary, healthy young man usually feels, was when reading Icha Icha at home alone. Even then, it was still rare.
He didn't know what came over him. It was a mixture of jealousy, possessiveness, lust, and... something else he didn't want to come close to thinking about. But... it felt good to be close to her. To say what he was really thinking.
He finally, for the first time in his entire life, felt comfortable enough to be physically intimate with someone in any sense. It wasn't just the intimacy though, he felt chemistry too. So lost in her scent, and just so easy to feel every curve under the thin fabric of that dress, that he lost his usual strict self control.
He was sure she felt his arousal against her, but she must have known he could feel her heat on his cock too.
I want her.
He'd felt his heart yearn for her but that was easier to ignore, now something else was yearning for her too.
His now bare hand palmed over the bulge in his sweats, hoping the ache would be soothed. He winced, not in pain, but annoyance.
Fuck it.
He sat on the edge of the bed and pushed down his pants, letting his erect member spring free. His fingers wrapped around his shaft for just an instant before he heard a knock on his apartment door.
He jolted, fixing himself at blazing speed, heart pounding like the kami himself was trying to punish him for even thinking of pleasuring himself to the thought of her. He cleared his throat. "One minute."
A second or two later he opened the door and saw _____ standing there in the night sky. She was still wearing that stunning red dress. Her eyes were staring up into his own. That subtle defiance in her expression was driving him mad. It wasn't the first time she'd given him such a face either. Like she was cross with him, but not really. He didn't know why he loved it so much.
"Why didn't you kiss me?" She said, and those words alone brought about more expression to his face than he'd had in years.
"W-What?"
"You heard me." She insisted, then stepped forward, forcing him to step back lest he bump into her. Now they were in the doorway.
"Well I... uh..." He rubbed the back of his head, eye averting her gaze.
She closed the door behind them. "I wanted to kiss you."
Her pretty pink lips were pouting, her eyes still staring up at him with that defiant little scrunch of her nose.
He smiled just a bit, though she could only tell with the slight lift of his expression. He gently caressed her face with the back of his fingers, tamed from a lioness to a kitten. "Then why didn't you?" His voice was low, a little gruff from the night air.
"I-I... well..."
He folded his arms with a smirk, the outline of it only visible due to the moonlight now no longer shrouded by clouds.
Perfect.
Kakashi could turn around any situation to his favor in the battle field and apparently, romance was no exception.
"Hm? I'm waiting." He purred, a gleam in his eyes.
"Y-You didn't have your mask off!" She defended weakly.
"Then kiss me with it on."
He was so lost in the euphoria and smugness of gaining the upper hand from her that he hadn't thought through what he'd said.
_____ didn't give him any time to rethink because in the next moment he felt her body pressed against him, arms wrapped around his neck and fingers fondling his hair. Instinctively his head tilted down to meet her. She pressed her lips against his then suddenly pulled away. He gently ran his hands down her arms.
"What's wrong?" He asked. "Frustrated?" In the next moment his sadism outweighed his senses and he curled his finger under his mask, teasing her with the corner of his handsome smirk before he let it snap back into place.
The whine out of her mouth sounded way too good.
"Kakashi... don't tempt me..." She whimpered.
"Hm? I believe you knocked on my door and demanded to know why I didn't kiss you." His voice was intoxicatingly confident and he knew it.
"T-That's different!" She squeaked.
His arm snaked around her waist. "Oh?"
"Mmhm." She mumbled. "I-I just wanted to know why you didn't kiss me when I felt you... against me."
Eyebrows raised, he leaned back a bit. "Sorry about that." He said, hands in pockets, casually leaned back. "I hadn't expected it either."
"You don't have to apologize. I... I liked it." Her cheeks were burning now.
He looked down and chuckled low, quiet at first then he couldn't stop and she wasn't sure if she should be embarrassed by his sadistic yet charming laugh or to be aroused by it.
Finally, his shoulders stopped shaking and he looked back up at her, pupil dilated. "You really do just say exactly how you feel don't you?"
_____ shook her head. "If I did, I'd have told you that I really wanted you to kiss me for a long time now..."
Kakashi looked at her, that sleepy expression softened with nostalgia he let himself feel for a moment. Just a moment. Of every time she'd managed to catch his attention for even a second.
He deftly pulled down his mask. "I think you just did."
His smirk was adorning his handsome face irresistibly and his bare face stole her very breath, his hair was adorably messy without his headband on to keep it back. His sharingan eye was closed yet his own eye couldn’t stop gazing at her.
He stepped forward, cupped her face with his bare palm, and kissed her. She let out a soft squeak in happy surprise leading to her feeling him chuckle against her mouth and it felt like heaven. All those years of denying themselves and now they were kissing like it would be their last. He felt her fingers in his hair again, gently tugging and playing as she kissed him back. Kakashi always did notice how she’d find reasons to help him with his headband, now she had full access to his fluffy hair like she’d always wanted.
God her lips were so soft, and she was thinking the same thing about him.
He moaned without even recognizing that he had and if her eyes weren’t closed they would have lulled back from the feeling. His large yet lithe hands roamed her body in the silky night dress she chose to wear to see him. His fingers brushed the plush of her breasts and the softness of her thighs.
"Kakashi..." There she was, whining his name again, this time between the breath they had to take from kissing so much. Only for him to close the gap and kiss her once more.
With a soft snap, he reluctantly pulled his mouth away from hers. Her chest rose from the sudden breath she took, a pout in her lips when he pulled his mask back up. But then... she caught a look in his eyes, a solemn one, like he'd been hit with a reality beyond her understanding. He caressed her cheek with the back of his hand. "Let me walk you home, _____."
Her eyes wavered back and forth, struggling to understand what had changed in those few seconds. "Please... don't pull away Kashi..."
"Kashi?" He chuckled, his sleepy eyes back to their neutral state. "And just who said you could call me that?" He asked, head tilted to the side.
"Um... me?" She said with an innocent look, hands behind her back.
He stepped forward, but she just stared at his chest, embarrassed. He placed his long digit under her chin and tilted her head to look up at him then looked into her eyes. "Not in public. Okay?"
She smiled, like she knew she was getting away with something she oughtn't. "Mmhm." She nodded.
He leaned in and pressed a mask-covered kiss on her forehead. It felt warm, and safe... and he lingered for as long as he allowed himself.
He pulled away, looking into her eyes. "Alright. Time to get you home, you can borrow one of my shirts, it’s cold out." He said with care.
_____ wanted to ask him what either of the kisses meant, but she felt like she already knew what it was. She knew him, she knew he must be scared of his feelings for her. Now, whether they were purely lust driven or love driven, she wasn't sure. But she decided not to push right now, after all, they'd both had a good night and they were happy.
Kakashi the Bride Thief - Part 3
Rating: T
Paring: Female Reader Insert x Kakashi Hatake (Third person pov)
Warnings: Gore/Violence
Notes: Read Part One Here! :)
Part 4 has been requested read here!
That night Kakashi was plagued with a nightmare. One he hadn't had since he was in ANBU. Except... it was different this time. He was the same age as he is now, wearing jonin gear instead of ANBU. He was running towards an enemy in the forest, chidori sparking on his palm near the earth. The familiar screech of the thousand bird jutsu pierced the air until it hit its target.
She was wearing that pretty red dress... made even more red by the blood spilling out of her chest. His hand had struck straight through her heart. Her eyes were blank, staring straight through him. "K-Kakashi..."
Awake, he shot straight up in his bed, his forehead laced in sweat as he struggled to breathe yet he didn't want to take off his mask this time. He hated it when he'd breathe hard enough to wheeze a little. He felt so weak.
His hands balled into fists and his eyes closed, nose scrunched in distress.
"What's wrong with me?"
~~~
The next week he deliberately avoided her this time. It was easy for a ninja like him. Whatever the reason for the nightmare subsided after not seeing her for a few days so that's how he'd have to keep it.
Kakashi made his way to his favorite bookstore but the moment he opened the door he saw a glimpse of her behind a shelf and, like a school-boy, he hid behind a bookcase. She'd been wearing a pretty sundress.
His heart was pounding harder than it had on any stealth mission he'd ever faced. His body felt weak near her and it wasn't just her wind affinity.
"Thank you for everything!" She'd said cheerfully to the bookstore clerk then headed out without seeing Kakashi.
It felt like he was committing some kind of sin. Wanting her. Even though he wasn't. It was normal for a young man to desire companionship. It didn't feel normal to Kakashi though. It felt like... selfishness.
He'd thought he'd moved past his guilt and shame of the past, but really, it just took on a new form.
"You should talk to _____, Kakashi. She's been asking about you."
Guy? When did he get here?
When did he end up at a ramen joint?
Oh right... he walked out of the bookstore and Guy ushered him off to get lunch.
"I'm sure I'll come across her eventually." Kakashi shrugged, then flipped open his book.
Guy put a hand on the book to push it down. "Not if you keep avoiding her."
Kakashi's expression stayed the same as it always has, if a bit annoyed at Guy touching his book. He moved it back up and pretended to read. "I'm not avoiding her." He leaned against the wall.
"Riiiight." Guy shook his head. "This is the springtime of your youth!! You should be buying her flowers and singing her sonnets!"
Kakashi gave him a deadpanned look. "This isn't the first time you've tried to set me up with someone."
"True, but it's the first time that you like the girl." He pointed out with a shiny toothed grin and a thumbs up.
Kakashi rolled his eyes and left, feeling more agitated by his friend's antics than usual. As much as he internally appreciated the intent behind it, the truth was that he didn't want it right now.
That night he was hands in pockets, strolling along the street like usual when the sound of her voice caught his attention. It was coming from a restaurant.
Well... it couldn't hurt to peek right?
He casually walked by, only to see her next to Jiro again. A pang of jealousy curled his hands into fists in his pockets. He felt so immature for being envious over her betrothed, but it couldn't be helped all the same.
I want her...
She'll end up dead.
"Kakashi?"
She was right in front of him. How long had he been staring into space for?
"Hm?"
"Nightmares again?"
He blinked a few times.
How did she know?
She answered without him needing to ask. "You used to stay overnight at the hospital sometimes, remember? The next day you tended to be a little out of it when that happened."
"Oh... right."
"Do you... want to talk about it?"
"No. Thank you." He turned his head in shame.
"You know... your nightmares back then, they were a traumatic response."
"I know." He said. He wanted to leave, his body was wrought with shame, but he couldn't. Not when she was the one who soothed his nightmares back then, well... when he'd let her.
"But now... it might have to do with something else."
"Like?"
"Well... our nightmares can show us our anxieties throughout the day or potentially our greatest fears. In a way, it also reveals what we care about most."
"I see." He murmured. It was silent between them for a time before he spoke. "Do you train often, _____?"
"I do, though I doubt it's at the same level as you or Guy."
"Would you like to train with me tomorrow morning?"
She smiled. "That would be lovely."
"Lovely?" He tilted his head, arms folded. "Who said I'd go easy on you?"
Her eyes widened. "Ha ha... you're just kidding... right?"
Kakashi leaned forward, his hands behind his hips in a patronizing stance, shadows casting along the flop of his silver hair. "Nope. Is... that a problem for you?"
_____'s breath hitched. They were so close to each other now. His nose nearly touched her own. "N-Not at all."
He leaned back with a hint of a smirk. "Good. I'll see you at five then. Eastern forest." Hands back in pockets he walked off with her watching after him.
~~~
Wearing her jonin gear, a cropped green vest with a white tank top underneath and blue ninja sweats. Her headband held snug on her forehead.
"Hope I didn't keep you waiting." Kakashi said, seeming to appear out of thin air with a hand raised in greeting.
"Just a few minutes." She shrugged. "I knew you'd be late."
He raised his eyebrows slightly only to return to his natural state. "Let's start off with a simple test I give to genin." He said, then pulled out a pair of silver bells from his pocket. "Except. I do expect you to actually retrieve them. You are a jonin after all, aren't you?"
She watched as the bells jingled on the string between his fingers. "Right."
"Good." He hooked the bells onto his pants then took out a book and started reading.
She gasped. "Icha Icha?! I just bought that one!"
"Ah. Is that right?" Kakashi snickered lowly, sinister. "Well then, if you can't get the bells before lunch..." His eyes narrowed and his body leaned over her. "I will spoil the ending for you."
"Kakashi Hatake you wouldn't dare!" She exclaimed.
"Oh? Then you have nothing to worry about." His voice held that lilt of sadism underneath his masculine tone and it sent a shiver down her spine of a pleasant kind. Standing upright he continued reading.
After several clumsy attempts to retrieve the bells, _____ ended up on the floor with her arm pinned back and Kakashi sitting lightly on her lower back. "I'm disappointed. I thought you'd at least be better than my genin."
"Maybe I just wanted to see how it would feel to have you pin me."
It was the first time he heard her outright flirt with him. His heart seemed to stop and before he knew it the woman beneath him disappeared and the real _____ snatched the bells out from under him.
She looked so pleased with herself when he stood up to see his defeat.
"Couldn't win the honorable way hm?" Kakashi taunted, trying to play off how fast his heart was beating.
"Oh you're one to talk." She chuckled, then tossed him his bells back. "Although, I'll admit, I didn't think it would actually work as well as it did."
"Either way. With that kind of form you shouldn't be taking anything higher than C-Rank missions, jonin or not. You're rusty." He scolded.
"I don't always have the luxury of choosing what missions I take. And I spend most of my time working and studying medical-jutsu." She said, "Besides, I think you're underestimating my defensive capabilities. This wasn't a good test for that." She pointed out.
"Regardless. I could have killed you if I wanted and-"
"No you couldn't." Her eyes were steady. "I wouldn't let you."
Kakashi's hands balled into fists in his pockets and he looked away from her but she approached him all the same. "This was just a bit of fun, that's all. You weren't trying your very hardest and neither was I. Okay?"
"I'm fine."
"You don't seem fine. You seem worried." Her voice was softer now.
Kakashi still couldn't face her.
"Besides... in a few days I'll be going with Jiro to the Land of Waves to be wed. This won't be a concern of a Konoha ninja for much longer." Her voice was somber.
It was meant to comfort him... but it hadn't.
Kakashi The Bride Thief : Part 2
Rated: T
Warnings: Sexy Dress (?)
Pairing: Third Person Female Reader Insert
Notes: Part 1 found here!
Part 3 has been requested, read here!
The following morning was brought by a pounding at the door. When Kakashi opened it, his sleepy eyes were at its sleepiest. "Hm?"
A loud, gruff voice broke the peace. "Do you intend to marry my daughter?! Do you?! Because your meddling cost us everything!"
"What?"
_____ hurried to the door. "Papa calm down please!"
The man nearly had a heart attack at the sight of her before he directed his anger back to Kakashi. "You no good shinobi piece of shit! Sleeping with my daughter on the night of her marital passage!"
"He didn't do anything!" She tried to pacify but it helped little.
"Don't defend him! He's nothing but an arrogant bastard just like his father! He doesn't care about you or this village."
For Kakashi, time stopped. It... had been a long time since someone used his father as an insult against him and he felt his spirit suddenly drift back into that place of being five years old and seeing people spit curses to his father's grave. No one was there for him then, or... well, he didn't let anyone be.
Suddenly he came to at the sound of her heated voice.
"Do not speak ill about any Hatake and especially not in my presence!" Her eyes which had been sparkling last night were all flames now. "Forget my name until you apologize to him." She closed the door and tried to ignore the concerned look Kakashi was giving her.
He shook his head. "You shouldn't have done that. I'm used to-"
"Well I'm not. And I don't want to be."
His gaze softened ever so slightly. "Thank you."
~~~
It had been three days since Kakashi had ruined her "martial-passage" and he should have spoken to her at least after her father knelt on the floor to apologize to him, but he didn't. Kakashi didn't know why but he just felt himself naturally avoiding her whereas before, now that he thought of it, the opposite had been true.
Tonight though, he'd kinda forgotten it was Guy's birthday in all the madness but he was lucky that the man had the decency to exclaim it in one way or another throughout the day to remind him.
The party was held at Guy's favorite bar and Kakashi stepped inside, hoping to say "hi" and "bye" but that quickly became not the case the moment the burly man threw an arm around him. "Heeeeey rival."
Great. Guy had already started drinking. This was gonna be a while.
"Happy birthday Guy." Kakashi said.
"Ready for another challenge?" He grinned but Kakashi simply shrugged him off, literally. "Not tonight, thanks."
"What? Afraid I'll embarrass you in front of your girlfriend?" Guy grinned, wiggling his impossibly thick eyebrows.
Kakashi's usually stoic eye widened half a centimeter. Which was actually quite a lot for Kakashi. "Is _____ here?"
"Funny how you already know who I'm talking about." Guy said after downing another drink.
Kakashi turned around and saw _____ at the bar wearing a dangerously slinky dress. Her leg dangled out of the slit and out the side of the barstool, her back exposed down close to her butt. He couldn't even see her front yet and already he felt like he was going to have a heart attack.
What is wrong with me? Did I drink something bad?
Then he noticed the man next to her. Jiro.
"Yeah and that's when I realized that this whole tradition is so old fashioned. I mean, who needs it. Right baby?" Jiro said with a laugh. "Drink another shot for me will ya?" He said to her.
Seeing as she clearly didn't want to take the shot, Kakashi took the chance to casually order a drink at the bar and feign surprise when he noticed her. "Oh. Hi _____."
She blinked a few times like a flutter of butterflies before she smiled. "Kakashi! I haven't seen you in a bit. How are you?"
"Been fine, thanks." He said, then smoothly took the shot for her while Jiro was busy explaining his reasoning for the tenth time to someone else.
She giggled then leaned towards him, her body language absolutely directed all towards him. Her boobs were nicely squished together and her face was positively glowing.
Now that he saw how she looked from the front he suddenly felt like his own mask was suffocating him. He needed air. Now.
"I'll be right back." He said then walked out, leaving her with a tilted head of confusion.
Once outside away from any people he ripped his mask down so he could catch his breath. "Damn it. What's wrong with me?"
"Kakashi?"
Quick as a flash his mask was back on without a frame in-between for her to see him. The woman who took his breath away walked up to him. "Is everything alright?"
He kept ignoring that annoying drum of his heart. I want her. I want her as mine. Over and over again. But the shot he drank wasn't helping.
He hadn't responded for a while.
"You're breathing heavy." She said with concern then placed two fingers on his pulse on his neck. "And your heart's racing. Come on, let's go to my clinic and get you checked out." She tugged on his arm.
"No. I'm fine." He managed to say and he wanted to believe it himself. "Just leave me alone."
He didn't mean for it to come out so harsh but the words hit her all the same and he could see it on her face.
No. I'm better than who I was as a kid. Stop it.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that. It's just, I don't want you fussing over nothing."
Her smile came back and he felt a little swell of pride from that. "But that's kind of my job." She chuckled, stepping closer.
He stepped back.
"Kakashi!"
"It's nothing."
"Mmhm. You've said the same with three broken ribs. Come here." She stepped forward, he stepped back.
She huffed and folded her arms under her chest. His eye darted where it oughtn't and he quickly reigned himself in again before she could notice. "Well, if you're fine then why don't you come back to the party? Save me from Jiro." She winked.
"Isn't he your husband again or something?"
She shrugged. "Doesn't mean I like him."
"Is there anyone you do like?"
What am I saying?
"Um..." He seemed to have stumped her then but finally she answered. "Maybe."
"You're not sure?"
"Well. I am but I don't know if he likes me too."
"I see."
It was quiet for a few moments but just as Kakashi was about to speak she interrupted. "And don't ask who it is."
"I-I wasn't." He stuttered with a shy laugh while he nervously soothed the back of his neck.
Since when do I do that?
Her eyes were dilated again. Did he do something she liked? She moved forward with a subtle smile and looked up at him. "Don't leave me there all alone."
"All alone? What about everyone else?"
"They can't replace you."
Their fingertips touched and he felt himself getting lightheaded again. "Well. That's true." He said, using arrogance to hide how shaky his hands wanted to be if he'd let them. "Just give me a moment."
She nodded then slipped away back into the party. Once she was gone he ripped his mask back down and breathed in the fresh air. "What kind of jutsu is this?" He wondered under his breath. His senses kicked in before she could poke her head out to see if he was really coming. Thus, he was ready, mask on, and hands in his pockets casually walking back into the party.

Kakashi the Bride Thief
Chapter Rating: General Audiences
Chapter Warnings: None
Notes: This will be a oneshot for now unless people are interested in reading more. ^^  (Part 2 has been requested!)
Pairing: Kakashi/Reader (third person female reader insert)
In a blink, the power went out in Konoha. Luckily, it was so late that most villagers hadn't noticed. Kakashi, however, had been up late reading and quickly became annoyed when he was forced to read by candlelight. And, rather than be alone with his thoughts for two seconds (kami forbid) he decided to take a stroll around the village to make sure everything was alright.
A woman screamed for help in the night and on instinct Kakashi dashed off to the sound. His keen tracking led him to the forest where he found the screaming woman being carried off by a man. In the darkness he could just about make out their forms, but it wasn't the first time he'd had to fight in the dark.
Flying through the trees he swooped the woman up, out of the offenders arms and carried her into his own. The silver-haired shinobi perched up high in the treeline as he held her. The lady's eyes shined up at him, illuminated with the help of the moon.
"Kakashi?"
He stared at the lovely maiden in his arms. It was her. The medic he always went to when he was hurt. He never thought about why he did but he just... did. Like it was natural. "Are you alright?" He asked, his voice far from betraying the skip of his heartbeat.
"Y-Yes but um... you've put my husband in an awkward position." She admitted with a lopsided smile.
"Husband?" He looked down at the man who was now aimlessly looking around for his bride to be.
"Well, he was going to be." She explained. "You don't remember?"
Shit. Had she told him something important while he spaced-out like usual?
"Please remind me."
"Tonight was my husband's test. My clan finally negotiated an arrangement between myself and a man from a Waves village. He is to carry me off to our home without interruption or he'll be considered unfit, and... I'm afraid you've made it so he didn't make it past Konoha." She said with a soft laugh coated in some pity for the man.
Kakashi's usual sleepy face hadn't changed, yet internally he was processing everything she said. "Oh. I see."
"Is that all you have to say for yourself?" She chuckled, amusement in her eyes.
Well... was it? How could he forget? She just told him this morning. It didn't make sense.
"He should have ran faster." He said, earning a playful smack to his chest.
"That isn't funny Hatake." She played.
"Then don't smile when you look at me."
Properly put in her place, pink bloomed across her cheeks with a shy look hiding away from him.
The stout man shouted from down below. "There you are! Unhand my wife!"
Kakashi hopped down from the tree branch, his feet landing soft like a feather. "I thought the point was for you to take her."
"Tch. As if anyone expects me to out run the Copy Ninja."
Kakashi shrugged, desperately ignoring her pretty eyes looking up at him in pride. "Sounds like excuses to me. You're no better than my genin."
Why was he being so arrogant? To be fair, when was he not?
The young lady in the silver-haired ninja's arms spoke up. "It's your responsibility to prove yourself Jiro."
The groom-to-be groaned in annoyance then leaped at Kakashi only for him to easily side step him. His handsome face was relaxed and unbothered, bored. "Well. I guess I'll be taking her home now." He said, then easily walked up a tree while Jiro, (the hopeful groom) hopped to and fro to try to grab her, only to just miss each time.
"Now you're just teasing him." _____ chided.
"Hm?" Kakashi hummed, as if he hadn't noticed nor heard what she said. A moment later and he was dashing along the treetops back to Konoha with a stolen bride in his arms.
"How were they intending on testing him anyway?" Kakashi asked as he walked through the town, still holding her in his arms.
"Each family paid for mercenaries to attempt to take me back home at various spots in the journey which he would have to fight off." She explained.
"Really? So he probably wouldn't have gotten far anyway." Kakashi reasoned.
"Well... normally. But the mercenaries know about our tradition. They would have held back to genin level." She explained.
"So... it's more of a formality then?"
"Kind of- well... not usually. It's only because it's a very optimal marriage for both families."
"And what about for you?"
Kakashi... didn't know why he was asking her this. Probably to be kind. Yes.
"Mmm... well, it's not-" She shook her head then carefully squirmed out of his arms and he complied by setting her down. "It's my joy to be helping so many so easily and-"
She felt the tiniest brush of his fingertips against her own and suddenly she lost all train of thought.
"It's okay to think of yourself sometimes..." His uncovered eye looked directly into her own and despite the hidden emotion, she felt so close to him right now.
"I... I do. Don't worry." She smiled for him, but he knew her better than that. Sadly, he wasn't equipped with much to rectify it though.
"Mmhm." He hummed in disbelief. "If you're alright with it, I think you'd better come home with me. I don't want to worry about you getting kidnapped again." He started walking then, hands in pockets as she followed him.
"You'd worry about me?"
He paused a moment. "It's my duty to protect everyone in Konoha."
"But you already know that..." She drifted off, realizing that there'd be no reasoning with him at the moment.
Once at his apartment, Kakashi gave her one of his shirts to sleep in, however... he hadn't expected her to only wear his shirt.
The only tell of his emotional state was the subtle tensing of his hand once he saw her. He couldn't remember the last time his palms had gotten this sweaty.
Her pretty mouth had been moving but every word went in one ear and out the other.
She put her hands on her hips, head tilted. "Kakashi Hatake are you listening to me?" She sassed with a smirk.
"Mm?"
"I swear, that's what got us into this mess in the first place." She chuckled, then found a spot on the floor to sit down. "I'll sleep here."
"No." He said, that melodic condescension in full bloom as he stood beside her. "Bed. I'll sleep on the floor. I'm more used to it than you are."
"I'm a medic not a princess." She sassed. "I've been on plenty of field missions."
"I'm sure you have. It still doesn't change my decision. Bed. Now."
She looked up at him then and he couldn't help but notice that her pupils were dilated after he said that. Had he made her... no. He was probably reading into things.
"You can't boss me around. Either we both have the bed or we both have the floor." She said.
"The bed isn't even big enough for us both." He sighed.
"Just pretend we're on a mission." She shrugged then went to the bed and wiggled under the covers. "Or... I can just go back to my house."
"Fine." He said, and at first she wasn't sure to which option he agreed but then he lay next to her over the covers, as still as a plank of wood.
She looked him over but decided not to give him a tough time on it. "Kakashi?"
"Hm?"
"Why do you prefer me as your medic?"
"Wouldn't... anyone? You're one of our best." He said.
"Am I? Well, I guess that's true." She agreed. "But then... how come you never ask for me when you need a medic on your team?"
Suddenly he remembered all over again why he refused to date and why he didn't actively seek out new friendships either. It required talking far too much.
"No reason."
"None?"
He was silent.
She took that as her cue to back off for now. "I see. That's okay." She assured. "Well, goodnight Kakashi."
It took him a few moments to muster the simple words, unused to not sleeping alone. "Goodnight _____."
