I am the only grad student in a class of undergraduates, a contemporary art class.

I made reference to an artwork - “oh, it’s like that piece thats three feet of air above a pedastal that contains a curse or a blessing from a witch.”

I sure baffled a bunch of students, right then.

tbh the real advice I’d give to anyone is, do shit alone. go to a museum & go at your own pace & leave the instant you’re done. go somewhere you’ve never been and just wander around, duck into & out of places as it pleases you. linger as long as you’d like.

If you want to dye a white object with bright colors, the result may be more pastel than intended, but it will usually take. 

If something is brightly colored, however, it may not be possible to bleach it white without damaging it…

So, AP and I were sitting on the porch about a year ago, laughing about Fly Boy, a completely incompetent (but well meaning) boy who is the only human that can fly and isn’t very good at it but wants to be a superhero and is even worse at that. Well, we finally made Fly Boy’s first issue, which was the original concept hidden in my phone’s notes until now.

I gently told myself I need to draw lighter and happier subjects for the next week, so here’s a little illustration about MURDER! At least one of these guys was a dad too, so happy early father’s day!

Soooooo I have messed up my teeth quite a bit after they had an unfortunate encounter with the pavement about a week ago. I need root canals ($500 per tooth) and crowns ($700 per tooth), and my insurance will pay for none of these things. My deductible is the same amount that it would cost to have this done for my bottom teeth at the clinic I’ve already priced, $2500. There are also bills from the ER and eventually I’ll need my upper teeth fixed too, but the root canals are the most pressing issue. If you can throw a few dollars at this, every bit helps and I will be eternally grateful. My paypal is holmesel@grinnell.edu if you’d rather do it that way (bc platform fees and whatnot).
