Rocked the flying umbrella @sequimmarket last week. . . ☔️ Stoke-Highlights du jour 1)this setups waaay easier for my still-healing wrist injury. Plus, beautiful! 2) Ma girl came along to help setup, selling flower blossoms and a fair amount tea-go! 3) finally had a pie from @ulivopizza before they sold out 4)@riverrunfarm_sequim has turnips! One of my seasonal favorites, theirs are the best! tender, mild and delicious. Best enjoyed roasted, sautéed with garlic scapes or onions, and even raw. Oh my stars! Thimble berries starting to ripen. But they are even good now, in a fashion 🌿. Did you know that all bramble-Berry leaves can safely be brewed? Wild raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, thimbleberry, salmon berry all have therapeutic compounds in their leaves! Choose a clean (like not roadside or sprayed area) spot, harvest and pack into a large jar, then cover with hot water and let cool -that’s an infusion folks- Strain and (for fun summer style) ice and add a little lemon, mint or honey. It’s refreshing, nutritious, and free! This Saturday we are partnering with Lauren for Herbs, Dreams and Goodness Tea @sequimmarket. I’m out of town to help caretake for my pops who just got home from the hospital after a big scare. So glad to be here singing songs to champion his recovery and have Lauren’s skillful craft at home offing our teas and plants alongside her medicinal plant starts and rich knowledge base for medicine making. When I heard the news my dads heart stopped on the way to the hospital it’s like things stood still. I was in a bit of a daze finding people to take care of farm, family and tea orders amidst what seems like society falling apart (and also pulling together) to stand up for human rights. I am heartened by neighbors speaking up for eachother just as they are here for me. I have hope. 🕊 I see people rallying all over the world saying E N O U G H. Our global family needs us to keep speaking out for our elders, our neighbors and our children. . . . 🎶 when we got pops home, I played old timey songs on the ukulele and it spurred his memory. He loved my version of Tom Dooley, said I changed the words but it was still good. So grateful for his humor and humble delight to find himself confused, but capable and living on another day. Really happy to be preserving some of our fine fresh spring energy in these raw honey teas. I love how honeys capture the essence of these botanicals. 🌱 We have rose, lemonbalm, catnip and Douglas fir blends infusing rig now. Our process: 1) Handpick at tender perfection on our farm 2)rinse, dry and heat treat at 165 for 5 minutes for safety 3) cover with raw northwest honey and infuse at 95 degrees for 3 days in the dehydrator, flipping the jars every day (to keep the raw honey flowing) 4) store in the cool dark for 4 weeks, flipping every week 5) add a spoon to hot water for a taste of spring!
