The Heavy Weight of The Winter Count
SOLD. Just finished this hunky beast of a commission, "The Heavy Weight of The Winter Count", 2025. This painting, much like a true winter count, chronicles the last year or so of my life. It's been a wild ride, for better or worse.
Tumblr media
I'm not used to putting so much symbolism it personal meaning into my work, but here she is. Every detail was meticulously chosen. She is acrylic on canvas and stands 4x3 ft.

A few old Christmas cards and a few out takes. We do a funny or elaborate card every year, because why not?
Tumblr media
This one was while we were working in West Texas as Park Rangers, so seemed fit to do an underwater shoot at Balmorhea. Don't worry it was much colder in the air than in the water.
Tumblr media
This is my favorite outtake, for obvious reasons.
Tumblr media
This was atop Davis Mountains State Park, where the wind made this shoot challenging but fun.
Tumblr media
Can't lose that welches grape juice! I post our newest card on Christmas day each year.

paper flowers
These flowers are for a rehearsal dinner. I didn't know of this tradition before this, but the bouquet at the dinner is made from the tissue paper from the bridal shower and bachelorette parties.
Tumblr media
I ended up REALLY enjoying making these flowers and hope I get to do this again one day! The bachelorette party was Halloween themed, so we had a lot of black, white, and orange. The pink was mostly from the bridal shower.
Tumblr media
I played around and made all sorts of flowers using different methods, and since this was 2020, I honestly would have to learn them all over again if I ever get to do it again.
Tumblr media
xx
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I even made a mini-bouquet for the daughter of the family.
Tumblr media
Of course, I can't not credit the help I had:
Tumblr media
Ms. Nova basically made these paper bouquets.

Gold Dress
I handmade this golden dress for the Gaga x Vegas Jazz show a few years ago, as well as the headdress/wig combo. The gloves and shoes of course, were added.
Tumblr media
This is a collection of different golden items gathered over time and fit together on a nude, mesh base dress I made. The items were anything from spikes, chains, embroidery, beads, etc.
Tumblr media
the headdress is a felt base with synthetic hair cut and styled, as well as more golden items, both sourced and handmade.
Tumblr media
I am super in love with this dress, even though it's not super polished (especially if you see the inside!) and I'm thinking of turning it into a mannequin/lamp project in the future.

Tonight is the Night
A two-part acrylic and marker painting from 2007. Getting photos/scans of paintings was difficult back then. I could do it by camera and get the inconsistent coloring you see in these pictures, or could pay $50-80 bucks to get it professionally scanned, which tanked any profits I’d make selling paintings back then.

'Portraits of My Friend' is wood colored with acrylic paint and colored pencil, from 2023. It will probably always remain one of my favorite things I have ever created. Each side of the octagonal box has a different portrait.

The 3D effect is very thick layered white acrylic.

Shark Attack & Lost Cakes
I had forgotten about this one. I made this for someone a long time ago in high school. This was the first “real” cake I ever made. Shark Attack cake!
Tumblr media
A few years later, I made a friend a Lost themed cake.

Simple, terrible, amazing.

Hall-O-Ween sign
There was a big bachelorette party I threw a few years ago, all Halloween themed, for my best friend. I made so many different crafts for it, it’s about time I started showing a few of them!
First, this was an imitation park sign I made with the event name on it, ‘Hall-O-Ween’, (as the bride’s maiden name was Hall).
Tumblr media
This was made out of a piece of wood, drawn on, and dremmeled to an inch of its life.
Tumblr media
xx
Tumblr media
Then it was painted to match the typical brown and yellow of Texas Parks and Wildlife, USFS and some NPS sites. The bride loves Halloween and Parks both, so this was given to her after the event, of course.

Gaming Table
This customized gaming table was probably one of the more challenging things I've ever taken on; I had no experience doing anything similar and there was A LOT to learn during this process. It was made as my BFF's wedding gift.
Finished Product:
Tumblr media
It functions as a normal coffee table until you take the top off. Inside is a fully felt lined gaming table, complete with the tabletop becoming a giant chalkboard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First, this required thrifting a suitable table that met my needs. Here is the as-is table before any alterations:
Tumblr media
First, we had to take the top off. Wooooo, Spring Break!
Tumblr media
Next, and the worst and longest part, was sanding. Sanding, sanding, sanding. and more sanding.
Tumblr media
What's happening here? I have no idea. I apparently felt it was necessary to take 6 similar pictures posing like this though.
Tumblr media
You can see we have now built in the new bottom of the table, and added the sides. This took a lot of math that I have wiped from my memory.
Tumblr media
Of course, the paintjob was my jam. Emerald green and black are her favorite colors.
Tumblr media
The felt gaming surface was the last piece added, after a good protective coating. Now a shot of the finished table with the top off you saw earlier!
