Holly Barker is a Saskatchewan raised business graduate who turned her passion for business and fitness into a career. She owns 3, soon to be 4, Anytime Fitness Franchise locations with her husband. Holly is a sponsored athlete with Team Magnum Nutraceuticals and underwear model with Performance Panties.
She is a multi-published cover model and continues to contribute her writing monthly to multiple publications on a national and international medium. She is passionate about spreading the lifestyle of fitness everywhere she goes. This passion has inspired her to help others achieve their passions through sharing her knowledge and experience of health, fitness, and business and she has recently launched her online courses and mentorship at www.thefitnesspreneur.com.
HealthGreatness: You are an entrepreneur and opened up your own gym before you started your fitness journey, what made you start your fitness journey; fitness competing, modeling, etc? Holly: I was incredibly inspired to put myself to the ultimate fitness commitment and step on stage. I had followed fitness competitions for a long timeâŚflipping to the back of the magazines to see the latest inspirations that graced the figure/fitness stage. I had never really knew how to go about it, but the same year that we opened our first club, the new bikini division was announced. I was sure that this category was perfect for my adventure. I hired my first coach, signed up for my first show and have been obsessed with the industry since that day in many forms and outlets. I am blessed to create my life through the opportunities that continue to come my way still and am excited for what the future holds.
HealthGreatness: You are a successful entrepreneur, influential figure and fitness enthusiast; how much can you credit your success from living a healthy lifestyle and having a positive attitude? Holly:Â Everything comes back to health and fitness for me. It is what shaped me as a young impressionable teenager, it is what inspired me as a young adult, it is what continues to allow me to live life how I choose to create it every single day. I am blessed to be an entrepreneur through health and fitness and to have a business portfolio that includes helping others live longer, healthier, happier lives.
HealthGreatness: With all of your projects going on, what keeps you motivated to keep pushing your hardest every day and how do you stay focused? Holly: I try my best to think the impossible every dayâŚthis is what drives me. I have achieved more than I could have ever dreamed as a young self, but this is what inspires me to live forward, to try new adventures every day, to look at new risks as why not, instead of a risk averse why. I have not achieved half of what I am going to, but every day, if I am capable of impacting someone else positively to live a healthier, more free, non-judgmental, wildly successful, happy lifeâŚ.my purpose is realized 10 fold.
HealthGreatness: Iâm sure owning your own gym helps but what does your weekly workout schedule look like? Holly: I actually donât live close to any of the gyms I ownâŚ.making training at them near impossible unless I am visiting the locationâŚ.but that said, the gym is never missed and wherever I am, there is always an Anytime Fitness close to me. Anytime Fitness is the largest fitness in the world with over 3000 clubs worldwide and 100% reciprocity so I have a club near me that I visit and train at and can use any time of the dayâŚ.every day! Whoop!
My weekly training schedule changes dependant on where my prep phase is at and what event I have coming up. Currently, I am on a 5-day training split with 6 days of cardio. A typical week looks like this: Monday â Shoulders/Arms Tuesday â Hamstrings/Glutes/Abs Wednesday â Back/Abs Thursday â Shoulders/Arms Friday â Glutes/Quads/Abs Cardio â 6 days a week of steady state hike, spin, stepper or treadmill sprints.
HealthGreatness: What are your three most favorite exercises? Holly: Glute Bridge, Squats, Deadlifts â I love these because they are effective for a strong base towards any physique you want to build. I also love training back and shouldersâŚ.every exercise!!
HealthGreatness: What is your favorite cheat meal? Holly: Turkey crust pizza is one of my all time favorite meals to make at home as a treatâŚI love going out for sushi!! I also love anything sweetâŚso that opens the door to any treat.
HealthGreatness: Do you have any advice for someone who wants to turn their life around but doesnât know to start? Holly: My advice is to start with small stepsâŚminor changes to your existing routine. I believe where we fall when trying to make a change is the typicalâŚ.âIâll start on Mondayâ or the typical new year resolution. Change is hard. When people try to start a healthier lifestyle, many times they abandoned every habit they had and try this ânewâ way of living. This is too much change implemented at one time and will only be a matter of time before the diet/change is abandoned. When you take what you are doing now and implement small changes with realistic goal setsâŚsuddenly these changes become a part of your lifestyle and success is much more reachable.
Another suggestion I would make before making any changes towards a healthier lifestyle is to know what you are doing today. Measure what you currently eat, calculate your nutritional input as you are currently doing, calculate how much energy you are expending. The only way to make a change is to change things based upon your current situation. This is how we are all different and the reason that diets typically do not workâŚthey do not take into consideration your current situation.
HealthGreatness: Do you have a motto you live by? Holly:Â Anything is possible. Because it is. If you can dream it, you can put a plan in place and action toward it. I donât believe in wishes. I believe in dreams and visions and goal sets towards making them a reality.
HealthGreatness: When you are not working out and running your businesses, what do you like to do for fun? Holly:Â I love traveling. I love to be outside. I love to create, to write. I love being amongst energy, trying new experiences, cooking and shopping. I love being inspired by the world around me.
HealthGreatness: You are going full force and doesnât look like youâre stopping anytime soon; what are you working on next? Holly: I have a few projects on the flyâŚ.I am continuing to build my FitnessPreneur stamp at http://www.thefitnesspreneur.com and sharing my experience and adventures with the world. I am building my mentorship plans â one on one coaching helping others live healthy, goal set and crush their fitness and business careers.

Hailing from Scottsdale, Arizona, 23-year-old Sierra Blair-Coyle has been competing professionally since the age of 14. Voted one of the Top 99 Most Outstanding Women of 2015 by AskMen, she has also been a World Cup Competitor (2010-2016), and was a two-time National Champion as a junior competitor. Sierra graduated in May 2016 from Arizona State University with a degree in marketing. She now enjoys traveling the world competing and doing what she loves full-time.
HealthGreatness:Â You started rock climbing when you were 14, thatâs definitely a different choice than your regular sports like soccer or lacrosse, how did you get into rock climbing? Sierra:Â actually started climbing when I was 8, I started climbing professionally when I was 14. I got into climbing at a local mall by my house. There was a small climbing wall there and I would beg my parents to take me back everyday to climb! I loved it so much that I told my parents I wanted to become a professional rock climber. At the time they didnât know that climbing was an organized sport. Luckily a few weeks later there was an article in the newspaper on a local climbing team. Once my mom saw that article she took me to the gym and I joined the team!
HealthGreatness: You are a beast at rock climbing and have been competing for years, what is your weekly training schedule like? Sierra:Â Usually I climb 3 days on, 1 day off, then repeat! On the first and third day of my climbing days I strength train in the morning, do a lajstice (itâs basically a ladder at a 35 degree angle that you climb up and down with your arms) workout midday, then climb at night. On the second day I just climb, which is a great break from the 3 workouts I do on the first and third day!
HealthGreatness: What are some of your favorite exercises for this sport? Sierra:Â I love doing burpee pull ups. Theyâre really fun and translate well to climbing. Other than that I like to do V ups, hollow body holds, step ups, off-set pull ups, and dips.
HealthGreatness:Â What is your diet like when you are competing? Sierra:Â My diet is mainly fruits, veggies, and lean meats. A typical pre competition meal for me would be some type of meat and sweet potatoes with coconut oil. I also eat a lot of salads and drink a lot of veggie juice to make sure I get enough greens.
HealthGreatness: You compete all over the world in the most beautiful scenic places, what is your favorite place to climb? Sierra:Â Honestly my favorite place to climb is Priest Draw in Flagstaff, Arizona. Itâs in my home state, but I have always loved it. I also loved climbing at Kalymnos in Greece, it was beautiful!
HealthGreatness: What are some tips you can give beginner climbers or someone who wants to get started in climbing? Sierra: The best way to get started in climbing is to literally just try it! If you go into your local climbing gym and get a day pass you will have an awesome time. Generally the staff and other climbers are incredibly helpful and are more than willing to point you in the right direction. After your first time climbing itâs important to remember that your skin, hands, and forearms wonât hurt that badly every time you climb :) Once youâre into climbing I think the best thing you can do is climb as much as possible so you gain a great knowledge of movements and build your technique and strength. As you progress your workouts narrow downâŚbut as a beginner the best thing you can do is climb!
HealthGreatness: You have been competing over 6 years, what are you goals for the next few years? Sierra:Â Now that I am out of University I am enjoying just focusing on climbing. I hope to continue to improve my climbing abilities and placements at the World Cupâs. I am really looking forward to pushing myself as much as possible!
HealthGreatness: When not competing, what do you like to do for fun? Sierra: Iâm definitely a big relaxerâŚI have binge watched many shows on Netflix! I also really love baking/cooking, reading, watching movies, and going on adventures (non-climbing related!).
HealthGreatness: Do you have a motto you live by? Sierra:Â I am definitely quote obsessed, but I have always liked âtrain hard, win easyâ. Another one of my favorite is âThe highest compliment you can pay me is to say that I work hard every day, that I never dog itâ -Wayne Gretzky.
HealthGreatness: We never interviewed a rock climber before and it seems like an under-rated sport, what do you want people to know about rock climbing? Sierra:Â Rock climbing is really fun and if you follow the proper safety precautions it is a very safe sport! There is always some risk, but I think many people view it as dangerous.
