On Purpose

It was supposed to be a simple night out—dinner, drinks, a little dancing. Mickey glared over the glass of whiskey. Watching Ian dance with the rando who had approached when Mickey stepped away to use the bathroom. 

Ian caught Mickey’s glare as they locked eyes across the room. Mickey slammed his glass on the table and started swaggering towards his husband. The crowd parting like the red sea, their eyes locked, meeting in the middle, Ian smirking at him. ‘Got him riled up.’

Their lips locked half a second later, Mickey realizes in that moment, ‘Asshole did that on purpose.’

Ian yawns and rolls his neck as he pours himself a much-needed cup of coffee. Mickey stumbles from their bedroom, rubbing sleep from his eyes.

"Morning," Mickey mumbles as he plucks the coffee cup from Ian's hands and takes a sip.

"Morning, Mick."

Ian takes a second coffee cup from the cabinet and fills it to brim, resolving to let Mickey have the first one. For the first time that morning, he notices Mickey's chosen wardrobe.

"Is that my shirt?"

Mickey glances down. Specks of coffee litter the front. "Mine now. I guess."

Ian smiles and catches his eye. "Ours."
