I should prolly start going back to fanart, but I had a .. dream.. that I’d like to share. I’d call it scary but I’m probably not a good enough writer for that.
Sally Daniels was going on a weekend trip, two towns over because they had an actual mall. One with enough stores for her to find what she wanted, and to get some nice boots for her boyfriend.
She was driving back Sunday evening, just as the sky starter to darken, but something… happened. She pulled over to see what is wrong, but she saw a woman. Having been a woman who was told to “get the fuck out of the car” by her ex on a road like this (actually how she met her boyfriend - he saved her), she decided it was best to stay wait for the woman to approach and rolled down her window.
“Who are you? Are you okay?” Sally asked.
“I am you” The person replied. She did look like Sally.
“What do you mean”
“I am you.”
This was getting kind of creepy, logically Sally could say that this person was probably just in need of some mental help, nothing seemed wrong with her, but after hearing one too many ghost stories, though she felt a little stupid, she decided to slowly open her glove department.
“You’re sad and you hate yourself don’t you?”
It felt like that statement lasted for eternity. The statement knew her, it shook her to her very core. It really shouldn’t’ve. A stranger telling Sally she was depressed shouldn’t mean much; she already knew it. But something about the reflection in the eyes.. that was her, she was -…
What happened next was an adrenaline-filled haze for Sally. She stepped on it, leaving the woman behind, and ended up in the town between the mall’s and her own. It was only an hour further, but she didn’t want to keep driving home. Shaking, feeling unable to breath, she parked next to the general store. As she tried to step out of the car, she collapsed. A middle aged lady, seeing the girl, ran over.
“Sweetheart, are you ok” the lady asked.
“No, I-“ Sally started to explain the encounter she had on the road, but she could barely hear herself.
The lady interrupted halfway through “Oh you poor baby, that must’ve been rough, let’s go over to my place, and I can fix you some warm cocoa, and some blankets and we can discuss further.”
The lady drove Sally’s car over— her place was still in town— and the lady turned out to be a psychic. The kind that collects crystals and charms and wears dangly earrings. While there were ghost stories anywhere, the way the thing tried to reach out to Sally seemed less like the local ones, and more like a hallucination of part of her soul reaching out to herself. Nothing to fear. Which was quite comforting to hear.
After talking for a bit, Sally realized she probably should let Jack know what’s going on. “Oh, do you have a phone so I can call my boyfriend? He’s probably worried about me.” The psychic lady obviously gave a go-for-it.
He picked up. “Hey Jack, it’s me, Sally, I’m calling from [town] and I met a nice lady with to stay the night here-“
“Where the fuck is your phone?” Jacks voice gave.
“What do you mean? Anyhow I had this experience on the road, it was really scary-“
He was yelling now, “You fucking bastard the fuck did you do, I’ve been trying to call-you son of a bitch you aren’t allowed in my goddamn house, how could you-“
“Ja-“ the phone hung up.
The psychic looked concerned, “Does your boyfriend normally treat you like that, are you ok sweetheart?”
Seeing the psychic’s concern, Sally started crying, “He-he has his moments where he’s just completely delusional and paranoid, but he’s a good person. I mean it.. I’m worried though, he didn’t want me to come back. What if when he sees me something bad happens?”
“Oh baby” the psychic said, “why don’t I drive behind you home, and we go talk to him together? That way if he’s still delusional, we can face him together. Are you sure he doesn’t hurt you or anything though?”
“N-no, he just, gets like this.”
They talked for a while longer, the psychic wanted to make sure Sally would be safe; she was such a sweet girl. But eventually they slept and it was time to drive Sally back home.
No problems occurred on the road, and once they got to Jack’s house, where Sally was currently living, it was almost afternoon. Sally knocked out the door, and no one responded, so she took out her key, but she couldn’t get in. Goddamnit, did Jack really lock her out in whatever sort of craze he was in? With the psychic behind her, she decided to go around and try the back door, one of those sliding patio doors that are windows, though the curtain was drawn. That still didn’t work, so she knocked again.
“Jack?”
Footsteps approached.
“Jack, can you let me in?”
“I told you you weren’t allowed in.” Jack replied.
The psychic gave Sally a glance, but Sally needed to get Jack to open up, “Jack, I know you’re having a mood, but it’s me, your girlfriend-“
Sally seemed hysterical at not being recognized by her boyfriend, but given the night she had the psychic thought this was fair. She kneeled and was clawing at the glass where the curtain left maybe an inch and she could see the bottom of Jack’s boots.
“You’re not my girlfriend.” Jack said through the door.
“Jack, what do you mean? It’s me, Sally, we’ve been dating for so long, we moved in together-“
“No. You aren’t Sally. You’re that-that thing! What the fuck did you do to her?”
The psychic decided to step in, “Young man, how dare you treat your sweet girlfriend this way? What are you even talking about? Paranoia doesn’t excuse this sort of behavior!”
After a pause, Sally spoke gently, “I don’t know what you mean, babe, I know I said I had a scary encounter but it was just a hallucination, Jack, baby-“
“You shot Sally.”
At this point Sally was sobbing, which the psychic pitied her for, her boyfriend was being so cruel. “I didn’t; I didn’t! I shot the thing, that monster that came up to me! I’m Sally!”
Oh she shot the thing. That was a normal response to see someone claiming to be you on the roa- in a car.
“You goddamn liar! I know you killed her to try to reach me!” Jack said and then took a pause, so the only sound was the scratching. “You aren’t allowed in, but I’m going to open the door.” He sounded more reasonable now.
“O-okay” Sally said, getting herself up, and ready.
Jack slid open the door, and as he did, shot a bullet straight through Sally’s heart before she could even move. What hit the ground was definitely not Sally, though. Long inhuman limbs, too-pale skin, the teeth-
Jack looked tired. “This is my fault; should’ve never dated her”. Oh goodness he was crying. The psychic lady felt like her head was fuzzy. What a weird Halloween prop on the floor, she was sure it wasn’t time for Halloween though. Where was she? She should probably head home. Jack didn’t spare her a second glance, it wasn’t needed, as he walked outside to set up the fire pit further into the property.

Another bnha rant!
I sometimes see ppl say that the reason there’s so much fanfiction for stories like bnha is because they’re just ok but have a lot of potential that’s being wasted so fan-creators step in. This is definitely the case for some fandoms, but for BNHA, I just don’t see it. Everyone has their opinions on how it could be better for them as a story, but I think everything is really well executed. This may just be because I like a lot of the stylistic devices used and the character arcs/development. For example, I’ve seen opinions on the first few chs. in regards to Deku receiving OfA. ‘Wouldn’t it be a better message if he could make it on his own despite everything?’ I disagree, that’s a very typical moral of the story. I think it’s more interesting to show that to succeed, help is needed. Also the way that each Todoroki child reacts to Endeavor’s abuse differently. Or the use of humor to purposefully tone down the seriousness of an action, making us readers react to something like Bakugo being chained up to the podium during the sports festival the same way all the bystanders did. Plus, there’s so many little details everywhere….. I can go on so many rants.
Anyways, I think BNHA is a masterpiece. The reason people want to create so much fanworks for it is because it has a lot of potential that would be impossible to tap into while still maintaining the pacing of the story. There are just too many characters, all of which are so well-written, to fit every detail into the plot. Horikoshi actually does a pretty impressive job in regards to how you can see character development in the background, in changes overtime with body language, who a character is standing next to… all of it. But that still doesn’t tell the whole story. So it’s really fun to make up stories based on these little points we can see, and there’s so many for us to grasp. Additionally. We are at the point in the manga where characters keep getting hurt with no comfort yet, so a lot of people like to read/write their characters being ok or having a life that wouldn’t bring them this much pain. Also, the characters are just cool, so people will want to see how they’d work in different AUs etc.

I have so many BNHA theories that I’ve yet to discuss… generally I don’t share these bc they’ve prolly already been said and also I don’t really interact with others past posting art and liking things so I’m nervous to try something new… but it’s almost 4am and 4am is the chaos hour so I must. Here are three that are on my mind. (All Might’s Muscular form, Todoroki isn’t a conspiracy theorist, does Izuku actually have green hair??)
All Might’s muscular form: Ok, so I’ve def seen ppl joke it’s his secret quirk that he didn’t know about, but he’s definitely quirkless before… plus, the form is a newer thing/ since the organ-yeeting fight, Teen Might is shown to constantly be muscular. So Small Might must be his real physical form. He explained it like sucking his gut in, and that worked to subdue me for a while, bc, you know, suspension of disbelief and it has comedic effect, but at this point in the manga, I can say that everything this seems purposeful and narrators are unreliable. So how does he transform?? It’s none of the past user’s quirks. I have reached the conclusion that void reality bending was in effect in outside-the-void. Firsty, and least obviously: he emits smoke when deflating, which is kinda similar to the smoke in void covering Izuku, and Vestige Might, this is a stretch. Secondly, and most obviously: the void let’s ppl return to their past forms. Izuku turns into his kid-self in the void and then back to teen-self. So does Tenko/Tomura. It’s also connected to emotions- it would make sense for All Might to gain his heroic form when trying to be heroic in void logic. I can’t explain why the void logic would effect reality, or the time limit; this one comes with the stipulation that if the time limit was consistent before he passed on the quirk and only started decreasing then, then it still would make sense, it just wouldn’t if it was decreasing before he passed OFA.
Todoroki isn’t a conspiracy theorist: A lot of ppl do crack headcannons of Shoto being a conspiracy theorist for assuming Izuku was All Might’s love child. I honestly enjoy this headcannon, but even outside of it, I see ppl dismissing the scene as a joke due to the absurdity, which it’s supposed to be seen as. But it was a completely logical assumption on Todoroki’s side. He was watching Midoriya early on and the way he talked about All Might and the way they consistently interacted, and shared similar quirks. He saw the pressure Midoriya put on himself because of All Might. What Shoto really was asking Midoriya when he asked if he was All Might’s love child was if Midoriya was in the same situation as him (a child forced to carry their parent’s legacy). The fact that he saw himself and Endeavor in Izuku and All Might is… I’m not sure. Anyhow, I find this accusation to be pretty dark, not just the joke it’s presented as.
Does Midoriya actually have green hair??: lighthearted after the last one lol. he’s consistently described as plain with freckles. Curly green hair is not plain at all. Black hair is. Anyhow, lots of shows have characters with black hair have their hair colored blue for contrast or smthn. Additionally, it’s only the highlights, so it could just be a trick of the light. Does anyone remember horikoshi actually confirming his hair to be green? My final piece of evidence is that horikoshi colors izuku’s hair inconsistently. Sometimes it’s highlights are green, others cyan/turquoise, I’ve even seen green and yellow. Clearly, he wasn’t quirkless but his quirk slowly changes color over time. Of course, in the anime it’s green; but they’ve already gotten Touya’s hair wrong once, and again— maybe it’s just for contrast or smthn but is meant to be read as black…. I don’t really believe this one but also it’s funny so should be cannon
