"Human" - a poem about beauty (rough draft)
As I stare,
at the starry expanse,
That paints your,
Skin,
And your swirling,
Iris,
Like a distant planet,
Revolving around,
A distant sun,
And the blemishes,
On your,
Face,
Like the bumpy,
Rock,
Creating the earth,
Supporting all the life,
You could think of,
And the stretch marks,
On your thighs,
And stomach,
Like lighting bolts,
Striking from the sky,
And the music,
That spills from your lips,
Every time you speak,
Like a birdsong,
Only meant,
For me,
To hear,
I know that you,
Are undeniably,
Human.
A perfect representation,
Of all the beauty,
You could think of,
Without even trying.

June of Doom (Day 32/Extra 2)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “I can’t stand seeing you like this.” | Straitjacket | “Somebody had to do it.”
Enjoy! I was really excited about this one!!
TW // mention of betrayal, forced imprisonment/isolation
—-
“Somebody had to do it, Whumpee.”
“No, you didn’t!” yelled Whumpee. They were sitting in the corner of the white, padded room. Their body was shaking with the force of their anger. Their arms were bound to the sides of their body, their mouth and nose contained in a muzzle.
“I didn’t do anything,” they growled, glaring at Whumper. Whumper just stared back at them, arms crossed, stance wide, uniform still on. His silver badge shimmered menacingly under the fluorescent lights, making him look that much more intimidating.
Whumper tilted his head back slightly, and sighed, “Whumpee, you betrayed your friend.”
Whumpee’s head drooped slightly at the statement, but their glare burned brighter.
“And for what?” Whumper’s face hardened as he took a step toward Whumpee. He threw his arm up, gesturing vaguely at the surrounding area, “For Caretaker?”
“Caretaker,” Whumpee hissed, “took care of me! He showed me what you’re doing!”
“He ‘showed you what we’re doing!?’ Whumpee, are you even listening to yourself?”
Whumper pinched his brow, sighing heavily. When he finally looked up, Whumpee didn’t see anger anymore, they saw pity.
“I can’t stand seeing you like this,” mumbled Whumper, shaking his head. He turned away from Whumpee, and walked to the door.
“Wha-”
Whumper cut them off, “I hope you realize what you did.”
Whumper paused, as if waiting for a reply. Then, without turning back, “Goodbye, Whumpee.”
He walked out of the room, and shut the door, leaving Whumpee alone, and in silence.

June of Doom (Day 31/Extra 1)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “It didn’t have to be this way.” | Nails | Succumb
Enjoy! For this one, I chose three of the alternate prompts and put them together :)
TW // abuse, choking someone into unconciousness
—-
“Aw, Whumpee,” cooed Whumper, dragging a sharp, pink nail across their cheek, “It didn't have to be this way.”
“It still doesn’t! I-”
Whumper cut them off with a growl, gripping their neck with one hand, while pressing her nail into their cheek with the other. Whumpee hissed as a small bead of blood rose to the surface of their skin, and rolled down their face.
“Poor, poor, Whumpee,” mocked Whumper, gripping Whumpee’s neck tighter, causing them to gasp, “It does have to be this way.”
Whumpee clawed at her hand, black spots oozing into his vision.
“You betrayed me, and now,” – Whumper growled – “you have to face the consequences.”
Whumpee nearly whimpered, as they gasped, barely getting any air into their lungs.
“Just give up!” yelled Whumper, “Just give in, you’re fighting too hard.”
Whumpee gave a few more, weak, half-assed struggles, their throat and lungs burning. Their eyes watered, and threatened to roll back in their head. Their vision swam and darkened. Then, their limbs finally gave up, falling limp at their sides. They succumbed to Whumper’s will, and fell unconscious in her arms.

June of Doom (Day 30)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “Are you scared yet?” | Buried Alive | Failed Escape | Denial
Enjoy! This is the last one of the official days! I am going to do all the extras though, just for fun :)
TW // Being buried alive, abuse/torture, implied murder, implied character death
—-
Whumper dragged Whumpee by their wrist, his grip harsh and bruising. He pulled them through the woods behind Whumper’s cabin – the cabin Whumpee had just fled from – occasionally cursing at their slow pace, and tugging them towards him.
Then, Whumper tugged Whumpee in front of him, grabbing their chin from behind to force them to look at what was in front of them. An open casket – clear, mind you – in a hole, with a pile of dirt beside it.
“As you can see,” Whumper said, teeth clenched, “I’ve had this planned for a while.” Whumper shrugged as best he could, “Sadly, I guess I’ll have to do this sooner rather than later.”
Whumpee cried out as Whumper dragged them closer to the hole, and this time, they protested as much they could. They pulled and tugged at their wrist, clawing at Whumper’s hand with the other. Tears ran down their cheeks and muddied the dirt below. Whumper cursed, throwing them into the casket, and slamming the lid shut.
“Are you scared yet?” asked Whumper, wearing a smile that could make the devil cry.
Whumpee shook, then yelped when Whumper threw on the first bit of dirt. Slowly, the hole began filling, the casket being buried. The more covered the casket became, the more panicked Whumpee’s begging became.
They kept mumbling and yelling almost incoherently, saying things like ‘no. no, no, no,’ and ‘wake up, please! this is not happening, please!’ All very amusing, in Whumper’s opinion.
Then, when the duty was done, the casket was covered, and the new grass seeds were planted, Whumper went back to his cabin in the woods, having forgotten Whumpee along the way.

June of Doom (Day 29)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “It’s really not that big of a deal.” | Bruises | Secret | Acceptance
Enjoy! I'm going to try to do Day 30 tonight, and then the extras tomorrow and Tuesday :)
TW // Implied abuse
—-
“Caretaker,” started Whumpee, giving them a wobbly smile, “It’s really not that big of a deal.”
“Not a big deal?” Caretaker yelled, spluttering, “Whumpee, you’re covered in bruises!”
Whumpee wanted to disagree – to protest – but Caretaker was right. Their torso was splattered in purple and green bruises, like paints thrown on a canvas. They didn’t mind that much, though – at least that’s what they told themself. What happens, happens. They weren’t going to be able to change it.
Caretaker pinched the bridge of their nose, “How long were you going to keep this a secret?”
Whumpee’s eyes dropped to the ground, and they hugged their stomach. They shrugged.

June of Doom (Day 28)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “You’ll get used to it.” | Knife | Hostage | Surrender
I’m almost done with June of Doom! :( (I’ll have to do the extras after lmao) enjoy!
TW // Civilian is taken hostage, stabbing/stab wound
—-
“Please,” Hero started gently, “let them go.”
Villain tilted their chin up, pressing the knife just a little bit harder into Civilian’s neck. Civilian’s breath hitched at the action, a tear dripping down their cheek. Their hands, which were raised in the air, shook ever so slightly.
“Surrender, and I’ll let them go,” said Villain, a wolfish grin adorning their face.
Hero looked between Civilian and Villain. Finally, his shoulders slumped.
He walked towards Villain, looking at them guiltily – almost fearfully. Villain grinned, releasing Civilian and shoving them to the ground.
They then grabbed Hero’s arm, pulled him to them, and stabbed him in the stomach. Hero gasped, his legs shaking.
“Don’t worry,” smirked Villain, “You’ll get used to it.”

June of Doom (Day 27)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “I’m so sorry.” | Sacrifice | Obsession | Display
I might write a full-length thing for this one, but I tried to keep it short for this one. Please note that this one is extremely dark and disturbing, so read the TWs carefully! I have added a “keep reading” line so if you skip, you won’t accidentally see anything! Enjoy!
TW // descriptive human sacrifice/murder, cultish behavior/worshiping gods to the point of human sacrifice, implied abuse/torture, begging to not die, descriptive character death
—-
“I’m sorry!” cried Whumpee, “I’m so sorry!”
Whumpee sobbed, their breath hitching and shuddering. They screamed and cried and begged for help. For Whumper to just let them go, that they ‘would do anything,’ and that they were ‘so so sorry.’
“Please!” Whumpee clawed at their hair, which was safely gripped in Whumper’s hands. “I’ll be good! Whumper, I’ll be good! I promise, please!”
Whumper growled at them, pulling them up to eye level. He grinned at Whumpee, yet it didn’t reach his eyes. It was a smile that caused Whumpee’s breath to hitch, their throat to tighten.
“Oh Whumpee,” Whumper sang, “You are but the next phase in my plan, the next piece of my puzzle!”
He smiled at Whumpee, wrapping his free hand around their throat, “You are a fragment of what’s to come, and for you to reach your full potential, you must submit to the will of The Gods.”
His smile dropped, just as he dropped Whumpee to the ground. They cried out as their lower half slammed painfully into the concrete, and as their upper half was caught by Whumper’s hand in their hair.
Despite Whumper’s speech, Whumpee still struggled as they were dragged to the center of the room, still fought for the life they could have had. Whumper swung them around until they were kneeling infront of Whumper’s display, his tribute to The Gods. The three statues towered over them, as if carefully watching what would happen next. As if this was just a scene in their favorite TV show.
Whumpee continued to sob as Whumper pulled their head up, exposing their neck, and forcing what will be their last sight, to be filled with the crumbling statues of The Gods. Tears dripped down their face as Whumper began to pray, but their own cries muffled his voice.
Whumper pressed a knife to Whumpee’s exposed throat.
“May you hear my prayers,” finished Whumper, “and bathe in the blood of my sacrifice.”
Whumper grinned down at Whumpee, and dragged the knife across their throat.
Whumpee let out a gasp, that turned into a gargle as their mouth filled with blood. It spilled out of their lips and nose. Whumper let go of their hair, letting their helpless body fall to the floor. They choked and spassamed as black spots rushed into their vision. Whumper watched as they slowly stopped struggling, as their body stilled. As their blood began to slow, as their body started to cool and pale.
The floor was painted in their blood, their – now useless – clothes soaked. The tips of Whumper’s shoes were splattered with red.
“May you use Whumpee well.”

June of Doom (Day 26)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “I made a mistake.” | Ambulance | Hopelessness | Numb
This one is pretty short, but enjoy! :) (btw Whumpee uses ze/hir/hirs in this one!)
TW // implied character injury
—-
“I made a mistake,” whispered Whumpee, a tear dripping down hir cheek, and landing on Caretaker’s chest.
Ze gripped onto Caretaker’s hand, sobbing over her unmoving body. They were in the back of an ambulance, currently rushing Caretaker to the hospital. Whumpee barely even knew what happened.
“I’m sorry,” ze sobbed, “I don’t know what to do.”
Ze stared blankly at Caretaker’s body when the nurses and doctors took her out of the ambulance. And ze sat there, numb, as a nurse wrapped hir in a blanket, and led hir to sit in the waiting room, and wait for Caretaker.

June of Doom (Day 25)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “Don’t move!” | Natural Disaster | Stranded | Drowning
This has been one of my favorites so far, so enjoy!! :)
TW // non-descriptive character death/suicide, implied drowning, being stranded, flood (world wide)
—-
“Don’t move!” growled Character, “I’ll be back!”
Whumpee nodded, eyes wide. There had been a flood. It started slowly at first. He had heard news of lower areas of the country being flooded, but it was supposed to go away within the year. Then came reports of houses in the valley being flooded. Then, his basement had flooded, his garage, the main floor of his house.
Him and his friend, Character, had left the area, got to higher ground. They traveled around for a year, but still, the water level was predicted to go down. And, yeah, of course he had heard of people being trapped on hills or stranded on the rooves of buildings, but he never thought it would be him. He never thought Character would leave him.
Character and Whumpee had gotten stuck on the roof of a house when they went to lower ground, which was a risky move on their part. Character had seen a hill on the other side, higher than the one they were on. They had been jumping from roof-to-roof and decided to stop for the night. The water rose slower these days, so they thought they’d be okay. When they awoke, it was just barely creeping onto the roof, but the gap between the houses had gotten too big, and they weren’t able to travel anymore. They sat around for a while, trying to find a solution, when a small scouting boat had appeared.
Whumpee had watched as Character got on the boat – that could only hold one more person – and left, promising they would be back for him.
Whumpee looked down at his feet, the water barely brushing the tips of his shoes, now. He waited for Character. For three days. By then he had given up. Even at the highest point of the house, the water nearly reached his knees. And Whumpee stood there, cold and shivering, for six more hours, before he wasn’t able to stand anymore. His legs had gone numb, and with night approaching, he would die either way.
He made up his mind. He kissed his pendant, a gift from Character, and, with it still clutched in his hand, fell into the freezing cold water, and let his mind go blank.

June of Doom (Day 24)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “I think I’m going to be sick.” | Bleeding Out | Illness | Cold sweat
Enjoy! My goal is to finish the rest today, but I know that’s not going to happen :(
TW // Throwing up
—-
Whumpee shivers, sweat dripping down their brow. They look down at their hands, which were shaking and trembling just like the rest of them. They bury their hands into the pockets of their hoodie, trying to hide them from Caretaker’s view.
Even then, Caretaker manages to see past Whumpee’s facade.
“Whumpee…” Caretaker starts gently, as if speaking too harshly would make Whumpee faint. “Are you alright? You’re pale.”
Whumpee feels their stomach lurch, “I think I’m going to be sick,” they mumble, quickly bringing up their hand to cover their mouth.
Caretaker curses, shooting up, and running to grab a garbage can. He quickly returns, handing it to Whumpee, who immediately throws up into it. Whumpee coughs, holding back a whimper. Caretaker places the back of his hand on Whumpee’s forehead, then their cheeks.
“You’re burning up,” mumbles Caretaker. Then, more harshly, “Take off your shirt.”
Whumpee sputters, “What?”
“You need to cool down.”
They wouldn’t be able to get out of this one. Whumpee sighs, before peeling off their hoodie, wincing as it brushes over their side. Caretaker looks at them, at the blood on their white t-shirt, and back at Whumpee.
“Whumpee,” Caretaker nearly growls, “What happened?”
“I don’t wanna talk about it,” Whumpee whispers, making Caretaker sigh.
“Fine,” hissed Caretaker, pulling off Whumpee’s shirt to look at the wound. “Stay here.”
Whumpee’s head was so fuzzy by the time Caretaker had returned, they didn’t even know he left. Before they knew it, Caretaker had cleaned and bandaged Whumpee’s wound, as well as giving them water and painkillers. Caretaker ushered them to bed, and sat beside them, playing with their hair, until they were asleep.

I finally got my orthotics!! :D (shoe inserts)
Hopefully this fixes everything and I won't be in pain anymore! (crossing my fingers)
I know this probably won't fix it all (esp my elbow & wrist pain) but it's definitely a step in the right direction. :)

June of Doom (Day 23)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “How many fingers am I holding up?” | Poison | Rash | Double-Cross
Enjoy! Whumpee does have a stutter in this, which was kinda fun to write! Also my first day doing two in a row, yay! :)
TW // Poisoning, implied attempted murder
—-
“Shit,” cursed Caretaker, looking at Whumpee, “How many fingers am I holding up?”
Whumpee’s face was swollen and red, a large, bumpy rash flowing from their cheeks, down their neck and throat, around their torso, and spread across their stomach. They were taking heavy, ragged breaths, and their eyes were nearly swollen shut. They clutched at Caretaker’s arm, tears occasionally dripping off the sides of their face.
“S-Six?”
Caretaker cursed again, xe had only been holding up three.
“Close enough,” xe rushed, “What happened? Who did this to you, do you remember?”
Whumpee didn’t say anything for a while, making Caretaker wonder if they heard xem. That was, until Whumpee let out a quiet, pain-filled sob.
“Whumper. Sh-She did something to m-my drink.”
Caretaker’s eyes widened at that, Whumper had been a beloved member of the team, and was one of Caretaker’s – and Whumpee’s – closest friends. And yet, she had hurt Whumpee.
“Thank you for telling me, Whumpee,” whispered Caretaker, a tear dripping off xyr cheek. “Let’s get you fixed up.”

June of Doom (Day 22)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “I’m trying!” | Humiliation | Crutches | Rage
So the reason the antagonist is called JC is because in my notes he was called "Jerk Character." Enjoy! :)
TW // Humiliation/Teasing over injury
—-
Whumpee groaned in annoyance as they pulled themself up into a standing position. They tucked the padded end of the crutches under their arms and made their way out of the room.
Caretaker had temporarily moved them into one of the guest rooms on the bottom floor, as their original room was up a flight of stairs. They would have had a hard – if not impossible – time getting up and down them everyday.
As they made their way into the kitchen, one of their crutches caught on the bumb separating the flooring. They stumbled, nearly hitting their injured leg on the cabnet, but managed to catch themself on the wall. They grunted, swinging the crutch back into place.
Their head whipped around as a barely-held-back laugh sounded behind them. Whumpee would have crossed their arms if they could at the sight of JC snickering at their stumble. JC caught them watching, but just smirked at them.
“Awww,” mocked JC, “Poor, little Whumpee almost fell!”
Whumpee’s face burned as they glared at JC, “I’m trying!”
JC clicked his tongue, pouting at Whumpee. “I’m trying!” he copied, in a voice much higher (and much whinier) than Whumpee’s. JC laughed at his own joke, and even louder as Whumpee’s face reddened even more.
“Shut up,” growled Whumpee, hopping over toward JC, causing him to chuckle.
“You can’t even look intimidating!,” laughed JC, “You’re just hobbling over like a baby taking it’s first steps!”
“Shut up!” yelled Whumpee, grabbing a nearby glass and hurtling it at JC’s head. JC yelped as the glass shattered above his head, and quickly scurried into a different room. Whumpee sighed, going to find Caretaker to help them clean up the broken glass.

June of Doom (Day 21)
Prompt list [here] || Previous / Next
Prompt(s); “On three.” | Dehydration | Memory Loss | Choke
Sorry this is late, Enjoy!
TW // Implied previous abuse/assault
—-
“On three,” whispered Caretaker, motioning toward the door. The rest of the team nodded.
“One.”
The team looked toward Caretaker.
“Two.”
Caretaker readied himself.
“Three!”
Caretaker slammed his body against the door, causing it to burst open. Caretaker yelled vaguely at the team to get medical supplies and water ready.
“Caretaker…?”
Caretaker whipped his head around at the sound of his name, finding Whumpee curled up. Their neck was purple with bruises, and slightly swollen. They were pale, and their lips were cracked and dry.
“What happened? My head hurts,” mumbled Whumpee, cradling their head.
“I know, Whumpee,” said Caretaker, gazing at the hand-shaped bruises. “We’re gonna get you some water, okay?”
Whumpee nodded. Their eyes glossed over, almost as if they were looking through Caretaker, instead of at them.
“Do you remember what happened?”
Whumpee shook their head, “‘M tired…”
Caretaker smiled sadly at them, “I know.”
