It has definitely been too long since I have been on here. Well, I haven’t been lazy! I have a new album out today! As with every album before, this one has taken longer than all the others to make. I am immensely proud of this work, and I believe it to be the best collection of sounds that I have ever made. I hope you can enjoy it!

My new album is now out! It’s called Ties and is a deep dive into some of the . most personal relationships in my life. I really hope it conveys the love and complexities that these relationships contain. Enjoy! -C

New music is coming March 6th. It is the most personal thing I’ve ever put out and that makes me nervous. I really hope that people will like it and be able to find their own meanings to these personal pieces of music.

I wanna start this off by saying that, as an artist, you should always strive to do your best work and grow.

However, yesterday I came to a bit of a realization that it isn’t necessarily the artist’s job to be their own critic in the way a professional critic would be. I’ve been crippled by the drive to make something “better” and to make something that would impress people. This is the wrong reason to create, at least it is for me. I can’t create if my only drive is to out do myself. This concept has been hard for me to fight with since I am a competitive guy in all other aspects of my life. But, art isn’t like all other aspects of my life. Art is something very different and very special.

I came to this realization when I was in the theater. I saw the trailer for the newest Wes Anderson film, Isle of Dogs. Wes Anderson has been making movies for over 20 years, but when I was watching the trailer for Isle it didn’t give me the feeling of someone trying to out do their previous work, instead it gave me the feeling of someone who was making something special and different. Not only does this movie look like fun, but it looks like the creator was having fun making something new and not just something that only had the purpose of out shining what had come before. 

I hope people can understand that this entire concept scares me. Looking at art through this lens means that I may release something, that, in the eyes of others, is a lesser piece than something I’ve done in the past. But a far scarier idea is the one of me crippled by that same fear. I have always been a firm believer that art should be made by the artist for the artist’s own reasons, and it’s time I actually start creating underneath that same belief.
