any advice for beginner writers that struggle to start?

hihi!!

a lot of the time, the struggle to start writing comes from putting too much pressure on yourself to do things a ceratin way, which demotivates you because it makes writing a chore. this might apply to you!

what id advise is to just do something simple, write a scene youre really excited to write, no pressure, no expectations, but theres always that one scene you really wanna write, so write it! after you do, youll be motivated to start your story, and when you reach the time for the scene in the story you can just rewrite it, or use the one youve already written if youre satisfied with it!

reading a good story can also help bring back your motivation, so whether its a classic like the scarlet letter, or a fanfic on ao3 that you really love, do that:3

I've seen a lot of ff writers apologize for their fic being "self-indulgent" which baffles me cause like is that not the entire concept of fanfiction?????
