yall so harry potter conspiracy (i dont like it but like i have theories that i wanna express) but i was just thinking and like i always assumed that they only allowed fourth years and up to go to the yule ball bc harry was chosen but they had dress robes on the list at the start of the year which means that fourth years were always gonna be the youngest year allowed at the yule ball. thats really strange to me like that's such a random year like third years get to go to hogsmeade but they can't go to the yule ball? so anyway all this to say that they either suspected that harry would somehow be involved bc historically it's always fucking harry OR if we wanna be darker dumbledore was expecting and preparing for some sort of plot against harry that might involve him being entered into the tournament which would also explain why he was so calm (in the books) when asking harry if he put his name into the goblet of fire
