Since my latest coulson posts are becoming unexpectedly popular (compared to what I expected which is like 15 notes) I thought I'd bring this back

Headcanons about Coulson's middle name:

-Daisy hears rumors it's some weird name like Jeremiah or Juddson

-Fury, Hill & May know his real name but they encourage those rumors.

-May started the rumor to begin with.

-The Bus Kids definitely have a bet going about it. Bobbi joins it and guesses it right.

-Hunter tries to convince everyone the J stands for Jay. Phillip Jay Coulson. So basically they've been saying it right all along.

-If Tony Stark saw the 'J' in his name, he'd insist it's Jarvis. Phil has nightmares about that one for days.

-Fury tries to legally change it to Jesus cause y'know, he died and came back.

It really makes me emotional how Phil Coulson has always symbolized union, bringing people from different places and being the glue that holds them together. I love how this is codified into his Marvel appearances, from his roles in almost every Phase I movie, literally being the Superhero Wrangler, to his death leading to the Avengers coming together, to then creating a new team of people who would end up being as close as family. I love how AoS carries on this idea, how he continues to be the "guy who brings in strays", like people headcanon he did with Barton, like we saw he did with Daisy, and would do with others like Kara, how he's literally "the one who can bring all the pieces together". That's literally who he is. We (and him) joke about Dying being his superpower. But I think his real power is that he is the very personification of the ideal he inherited from Fury's "a man can accomplish anything once he realizes he's a part of something bigger". And people do come together for him. He's the one who makes possible the whole solution because he brings together the pieces that solve the puzzle. He is more than just Fury's right hand man, more than the Director, more than the dad of the group. He's literally the heart and soul of early MCU and AoS, the one that took the potential that so many extraordinary people, powered and otherwise, had, and managed to make them work like well-oiled machines, long after he was already gone.

Phil coulson's team would have solved 99% of mcu phase 2, 3 and 4 in 42mins instead of two-hour long movies

something i think is great about agents of shield is that coulson is like "tahiti was supposed to revive a dead avenger!" and fury is like "it did" and then over the next several seasons coulson and co. proceed to prove themselves to be just as valuable as the avengers vis a vis stopping apocalyptic events. its so funny. especially the fact that the reason we didn't get the avengers cleaning up after hydra was, on a meta level, because the main MCU writers shat the bed after TWS, but in-universe it's because they didn't have to because phil coulson is the only one in this damn group project doing the work. surprised he didn't find bucky before steve did but i guess he was too busy dealing with aliens

It'd been a few years since I had watched the anime, but I started again when Journeys released, and these last few championship episodes... Sweet sweet mother of Arceus. I don't remember ever being so excited about the anime like this. It made me feel like when I was a little kid throwing a tennis ball, pretending it was a pokeball. It made me want to pretend to throw poke balls now, and battle with my friends. I'm mindblown, my adrenaline is through the roof and happy hormones have taken over my entire body. That. Was. Epic.
