I think it’s terribly dangerous for an artist to fulfil other people’s expectations. If you feel safe in the area that you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth, and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.

Disney CRP

Woah, I need to get better at this / not open every post with "it's been a long, long time".

Where to begin though...

My last post was from way back when I had just begun my Disney CRP program in 2015, so I'll just go ahead and follow on from that (where I can).

The Florida heat was something that, although testing at times, is something I'm massively missing now I'm back in the UK. I do hope, in good time, to write a few separate posts based on my travels at the end of my year away, and from mini-trips throughout my time spent in the US.

Disney CRP was everything I could have wanted for, and more. Grasping every opportunity that became available, meeting some fantastic people that I hope to keep in touch with for years to come, accruing some fantastic professional experiences through the company and visiting some amazing new places on the weekends; the year left me with memories that will stay with me forever.

In summary - I would wholly recommend this experience to anybody interested in taking some time off to work in the Florida sun, for WDW for a year. Who isn't ey?

BACHEY’S BACK

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks to say the least. 

I touched down in Orlando on Sunday 19th July and I’m finally starting to feel settled; firstly though, I feel the need to backtrack and shed some light on my last month in the UK.

I ended up finishing work at the REP on Saturday 11th after working a huge event which proved hugely successful- a sad farewell to my great REP family there though. The week involving July 2nd, 3rd and 4th saw me hosting an extended leaving bash, namely BACHEWOOD, which went down a treat. The sun shone brightly on 30+ friends and family who turned up for, what was to be, a fantastic couple of days catching up with the nearest and dearest, whilst engaging in some good ol’ party fun. My dad also generously built up a shelter at the bottom of the garden, of which we jointly decked the garden out in true campfire style- reminiscent of my 21st Psychedelic bash! 

The following two weeks were filled with meet-ups that consisted of eating like a king in the various eateries around Bridgnorth. Tapas, world buffet, Chinese, Indian food, you name it...

Amongst all this eating I also managed to squeeze in some time to see the Amy Winehouse documentary, labelled ‘Amy’. It was truly emotive and fantastic to see her remarkable talent rightfully exhibited in the mainstream once more. The cinema (The Everyman cinema in Birmingham) also proved to be equally impressive. A hidden gem hidden in the Mailbox, Birmingham where we had food delivered to our seats and comfy sofa’s with ample leg room to go with it- yes, more please. 

So away I go to Stansted airport, boarding a rather uncomfortable and delayed flight for Orlando- see you on the flipside!
