Happy Anti-Valentine’s Day
Do you know the origin of Valentine’s Day?
The history of Valentine’s Day dates back to 6th century B.C. Rome. What we now call “Valentine’s Day” is an offshoot of an ancient pagan holiday known as Lupercalia; celebrated on February 15th. Lupercalia was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.
The festivities began with an animal sacrifice, the the ritualistic slapping of young women with strips of the animal’s skin and blood to bestow fertility for the coming year.
Lupercalia survived the initial rise of Christianity but was outlawed—as it was deemed “un-Christian”–at the end of the 5th century.
There are several legends surrounding the life of Saint Valentine. The most common is that on one February 14 during the 3rd century A.D., a man named Valentine was executed by the Roman Emperor Claudius II after being imprisoned for assisting persecuted Christians and secretly marrying Christian couples in love. These couples would visit his cell, passing roses and notes through the bars as a symbol of gratitude. During his time in the cell, Saint Valentine fell in love with his jailer's daughter. On the Day of his execution, it is said he passed the young girl a note signed...
“From Your Valentine”
Despite the ambiguity surrounding Valentine and his life, the Catholic Church declared him a saint and listed him in Roman Martyrology as being martyred on February 14. Thanks to Saint Valentine’s reputation as a “patron of lovers,” he became synonymous with romance. In the late 5th century A.D., Pope Gelasius I eliminated the pagan celebration of Lupercalia and declared February 14 a day to celebrate the martyrdom of Saint Valentine instead, although it’s highly unlikely he intended the day to commemorate love and passion. In fact, some modern biblical scholars warn Christians not to celebrate Valentine’s Day at all since it’s thought to be based on pagan rituals.
It’s true Valentine’s Day uses some of Lupercalia’s symbols, intentionally or not, such as the color red which represented a blood sacrifice during Lupercalia and the color white which signified the milk used to wipe the blood clean and represents new life and procreation.

I was doing good.
I was getting caught up on my bills, since I wasn't making much at my last job.
I was planning on getting a new phone, since my last one quit working months ago.
I was planning on buying some new bras, since I only had 3, and 2 of them were too small.
I was just starting to fix up my little apartment. I had just bought a new showerhead so I could take a shower at my house instead of walking over to mother's. I had began to look for furniture, since my sister took my furniture (along with other things) and I lost some in the move.
I had just got to were I could buy my own groceries to keep at my house.
I had just got to where I could pay the light bill on time.
I had just got to where I could buy my own medication.
I had just got to where I wanted to take my medication.
I had just gotten to where I didn't want to harm myself. (Btw thanks carly for telling me to kill myself multiple times, me and my psychiatrist look down upon you.)
I had just gotten to where things were looking up but then y'all bitches had to come along and start shit with your lies. Lisa, you may raise your children to think that this is okay, but it's not. Sharing your opinion is one thing. Knocking others down so that you feel good about yourself is another. I don't want to be like your daughter, living off the government & a man, poppin out infants. I was working hard for what little it may seem like I had. Then you came along with your lies and took all that away. Do you feel good about yourself? Karma's bitch and it's gonna bite you right on the ass one day. I just hope you get what you deserve.
So Thanks Lisa and Carly.

Opinions & Society
In today’s world there is absolutely nothing you can say that will not offend someone.
It really pisses me off... In America we have the freedom of expressing our opinions in the form of speech (The First Amendment); yet are criticized and harassed severely when done so. It makes no sense. Today’s society does not comprehend how to accept someones opinions if the opinions do not coincide with that what society wants. Society will outcast you for being different and attack you until you are nothing; or at least you’ll feel like it. Today it is rare to find a person who will accept you for who you are.
This is why I believe society is fucked. We need to teach the generations that are to come acceptance of others; no matter their opinions, gender, age, race, religion, background etc.. Why can we not just along? What is the problem with this theory?
Even religious text talks about acceptance and being non-judgmental.

An original poem. 2014.
Before anyone knew. Before I knew, or even understood that I needed help. My subconscious was screaming, warning me of what was to come.
I won first place in my high school writing fair; too bad not a soul cared enough to pay attention. Just a second glance was all that was needed.
