Years ago, when I studied abroad, I didn't take many photos. What I did was capture my interpretations through journaling and sketching. Reading back through this old buddy, it's soul soothing to read my honest account of the raw, often simple moments I experienced. From cobblestone streets making me pay attention to every step I took, to the understanding between humans through non-verbal communication, this little book tells the story. Travel with a journal folks. I think you'll be thankful for the stories you can re-play, the ones you may not realize have shaped you. This concludes my PBS special.

Hey friends, I need your help with our kickstarter, Brain Food! With enough money raised, kids will be given opportunities to use their imagination, make art, and be happier.

What is Brain Food? Brain Food is a collaboration between AIGA Portland, the Right Brain Initiative, and 10 illustrators, who all want to see more opportunities for kids to experience the life changing effects of art. Brain Food is a deck of 50 cards, each illustrating and directing a different activity for kids to use their creativity. With enough funding, the decks will be donated to classrooms around the Portland metro. Due to a lack of funding, art programs have been cut from many Portland schools, leaving a sad gap in fruitful, creative teachings for kids, (the future of tomorrow). What does this mean for kids, for you, and for me? Designing and illustrating for a good cause, especially when it benefits children, is a dream project for me. And if this project is funded, I could have the opportunity to do more work like this. Everyone wins. You help Brain Food-->you help kids-->you see kids change the world-->you help me make more influential work-->and you feel awesome.   There are only 3 DAYS left to fund this project, and they are only halfway there. So if you can spare anything this week, a latte, a scarf, a new cat collar for your buddy, whatever it is, any bit helps the kids!

The Water--Johnny Flynn and Laura Marling

This is like a lullaby today; fitting while the weather shifts me towards a constant desire to be cozy. I'm feeling the gentle sway of their words, as if each verse is being sung from a swooping ancient ship and their soft harmonies tumble like the water their words paint. The depth of the content can churn my imagination in conflicting directions, but for now I'll let it take me into that peaceful lull.

Back in the day I met Becky at Iowa State and ever since I saw her creative work I've been a big fan. It's been fun to watch her grow and evolve and make me laugh all the while.

4. Encouraging humor wins

The beauty of having two jobs is that while one can make you feel like a speck, the other can make you feel deeply loved and appreciated. 2013 Title Nine Managers Meeting

I was commissioned by Title Nine, a womens athletic and casual clothing company, (famous for their amazing sports bras ya'll), to design and illustrate an invitation booklet for their annual Managers Meeting in the San Francisco bay area.

I'll bet every one of you is probably some sort of super hero to someone. This is for Title Nine's 23 store managers: heroes for holding up stores, supporting people, and putting up with the shenanigans of a crazy land called retail.
