#oceanosmaslimpios #unidoslohacemos #nocomatiburoncomapezleon #lionfish #pezleon #panama #oceano #world #below #sea #Olympus #shot #colon #animal #animales #marine #ecosystem #wild #dive #calm #colors #ocean #mar #scuba #marinebiology #biology #nature #america #snorkel 💙💙💙 (at Isla Masargandup) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHoX4EyhqVI/?igshid=1c0rgd6n0lde4

🐙Commemorating the international octopus day!!🐙 . 🐙Pulpo de Roca del Atlántico🐙 🦑Common Octopus🦑 🤓Octopus vulgaris🤓 . You can find it at tropical, subtropical, and temperate waters between the surface and a depth of 100 to 150 meters. Lives in coastal waters and the upper part of the continental shelf. 🌎🌍🌏 . Octopus vulgaris are active predators that feed primarily on gastropods and bivalves. Small hatchlings typically spend several weeks as active predators in the plankton before they settle down to the benthic mode of life at a size of about 0.2 grams.🐚🐙🦑 . Octopuses can learn. They can make discriminations based on visual, tactile, and chemical cues. Octopus vulgaris keeps its home hidden. The females find a hole, crevice, or a sheltered place ad they often protect their homes with shells, stones, and other solid objects they gather. . The duration of embryonic development is related to temperature, as it is in all cephalopods, and it also depends on the size of the egg. Octopus vulgaris has individuals of both sexes. . There is the potential for the overfishing of these animals, which threatens their proliferation. However, at this time, they are not at any specific risk. 🤿🤿🤿 . ➡️Reference: https://animaldiversity.org/accounts/Octopus_vulgaris/ . . . #pulpo #cefalopodos #panama #ocean #coralreef #below #sea #olympus #shot #colon #animal #animales #marine #ecosystem #wild #dive #calm #colors #coral #oceano #mar #marinebiology #biology #onlynature #nature #wander #snorkel #olympustg6 #arrecife #reef 💙💙💙 (at Portobelo, Colon, Panama) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGJnp7ohsHB/?igshid=d1968tshzhmi

Uniéndome a la iniciativa, yo informo sobre la flora y fauna increíble y diferente que tiene nuestro país #pornuestrosoceanos 🌅🌌 . The slate pencil urchin can be found on both sides of the Atlantic, and throughout the Caribbean. On the western side of the Atlantic, the slate pencil urchin has been found as far north as Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and as far south as Rio de Janeiro. In the Gulf of Mexico, populations have been reported at Alacran Reef, Campeche Bank. On the eastern side of the Atlantic, a closely related sub-species, Eucidaris tribuloides var. africana, has been reported at Cape Verde Islands, in the Gulf of Guinea, and at the Azores and Ascension Islands.🌍🌎🌊🗺 . Is a sluggish echinoid that leads a nocturnal, benthic existence. During daylight hours, the slate pencil urchin uses its large primary spines to anchor itself under or atop rocks or to lodge itself in crevices. Individuals rarely stray far from their locality. At night, they will feed primarily on corals and sponges, among other things.🌚🍽😋🤰🏻 . ➡️Reference: https://www.atlantisgozo.com/eucidaris-tribuloides-slate-pencil-urchin/ . . . #seaurchin #animals #panama #ocean #world #below #sea #gopro #shot #colon #dive #deep #marine #ecosystem #wild #diver #calm #colors #oceano #mar #coast #marinebiology #biology #onlynature #nature #wanderlust #america #Caribbean #blue 💙💙💙 (at Portobelo, Colon, Panama) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFmv1_uBykx/?igshid=1thgeicpgaxk5

🇵🇦Gusanos árbol de navidad 🇬🇧Christmas tree worm 🤓Spirobranchus giganteus🤓 . Christmas tree worms, Spirobranchus giganteus, are found on coral reefs in tropical waters worldwide.🌲🌳🌱 . With a Christmas tree-shaped serpulid tube-dwelling worms with magnificent twin spirals of plumes used for feeding and respiration. 👃🏻👃🏻👃🏻 . These cone-shaped worms are one of the most widely recognized sedentary polychaete worms. They come in many colors including orange, yellow, blue, and white and, though they are small with an average 3.8 cm in span, they are easily spotted due to their shape, beauty, and color.🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣 . The colorful plumes, or tentacles, are used for passive feeding on suspended food particles and plankton in the water. The plumes are also used for respiration. Though the plumes are visible, most of these worms are anchored in their burrows that they bore into live calcareous coral.🦞🦐🦀 . Christmas tree worms are very sensitive to disturbances and will rapidly retract into their burrows at the slightest touch or passing shadow. They typically re-emerge a minute later, very slowly, to test the water before fully extending their plumes.🙈🙉🙊 . ➡️Reference: https://marinebio.org/species/christmas-tree-worms/spirobranchus-giganteus/ . . #gusano #polychaeta #panama #ocean #coralreef #below #sea #olympus #shot #colon #animal #animales #marine #ecosystem #wild #dive #calm #colors #coral #oceano #mar #marinebiology #biology #onlynature #nature #wander #snorkel #olympustg6 #arrecife #reef 💙💙💙 (at Portobelo, Colon, Panama) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFR1X2qBtJp/?igshid=uwa9k91m4hmc

🇵🇦Gusano de fuego 🇬🇧Beaded Fireworm 🤓Hermodice carunculata🤓 . The bearded fireworm lives throughout the tropical coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean. On the eastern side they are found from Algeria to Liberia, and on the western side from the southeast coast of the United States of America to Guyana, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. They are also found in the Mediterranean Sea especially around the Italian coasts.🌎🌍🌏 . Is a voracious predator that supplements its diet with plant material.🌱🌿☘️ . A slow creature, and is not considered a threat to humans unless touched by careless swimmers. The bristles, when flared, can penetrate human skin, injecting a powerful neurotoxin and producing intense irritation and a painful burning sensation around the area of contact. 🤿🏄🏻🏊🏾‍♂️ . The sting can also lead to nausea and dizziness. This sensation lasts up to a few hours, but a painful tingling can continue to be felt around the area of contact. In a case of accidental contact, application and removal of adhesive tape will help remove the spines; applying isopropanol to the area may help alleviate the pain.🏨👨🏽‍⚕️🧑🏼‍🔬 . ➡️Reference: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/49520-Hermodice-carunculata . . . #gusano #nematodes #panama #ocean #coralreef #below #sea #olympus #shot #colon #animal #animales #marine #ecosystem #wild #dive #calm #colors #coral #oceano #mar #marinebiology #biology #onlynature #nature #wander #snorkel #olympustg6 #arrecife #reef 💙 (at Portobelo, Colon, Panama) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEfTbEFhCcF/?igshid=fy59shuj1cid

🇵🇦Anémona gigante del Caribe 🇺🇸Giant Caribbean Anemone 🧐Condylactis gigantea🧐 . The Condylactis gigantea lives attached to hard objects in shallow water, which experiences full-strength seawater most of the time. It is common around reefs in both "forereef" and lagoon areas as well as in turtle grass beds. The shape of the Condylactis gigantea body is related to the habitat in which it lives.🏝🌅🌊 . Talking about behavior, when they grow near other anemones, the condy tends to exhibit aggressive behavior. By using their cnidocysts as weapons, the condy will fire upon narrow anemones to conserve its space on the ocean floor. The two individuals will fight, one advancing while the other withdraws, but both may suffer tissue damage. These animals avoid such confrontations using some spatial separation left between individuals this way, imaginary lines on the ocean floor are present from one group to the next.⚔️🤿👺 . Condylactis gigantea feeds upon fish, mussels, shrimp, or other similar organisms. It will not, however, go near any natural predators, such as Red Leg Hermits.🦞🦀🦐🐠 . ➡️Reference: https://animaldiversity.org/accounts/Condylactis_gigantea/ . . . #anemone #anemones #panama #ocean #coralreef #below #sea #olympus #shot #colon #animal #animales #marine #ecosystem #wild #dive #calm #colors #anemona #oceano #mar #marinebiology #biology #onlynature #nature #wander #snorkel #olympustg6 #arrecife #reef 💙 (at José Pobre, Colon, Panama) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDe3XD3BIAO/?igshid=9er5bl0jhe0r
