I recently had an epiphany that I wanted to pursue Art after enduring my first job after university. I'm not the best Artist out there (by far) and I'm hoping to share the common frustrations that many Artists share as they strive to improve in their craft...

It’s interesting, over the last year as I’ve been working on myself and developing my art skills, I’ve finally reached a level where I don’t necessarily think the worst of my art or at least it’s a less frequent thought.
It’s such a natural thought to think that for artists. Derogatory toxic thoughts. However maybe it’s because my self esteem has increased or maybe it’s because I see great growth in my skills but I certainly feel more comfortable with where I am at.
This doesn’t mean I am the best or I don’t see my flaws, but I respect my abilities more.
For anyone that reads this, I hope they know that there will come a time where they will reach this mental state too, and artniust becomes more fun. That’s why most of us got into it anyway right?
Let’s keep drawing.

[You’re Free]
This was inspired when I was given some news in my life and instead of feeling sad, I felt alleviated and freed. I wanted to get the contrast between an opulent room with the clear skies that symbolised “no matter how much we surround ourselves with the greatest distractions, it means nothing to the freedom we can gain once we leave that self contained world” Since the conception of this painting I’ve suffered the loss of 3 family members. This has also become a metaphor for them as they no longer suffer.
FYI 4 point perspective is a horrid little gremlin to paint XD

[Fear]
Painted this piece last year and ironically I ended up getting very conscious about the level of my art, I wasn’t sure if people would want to see what I had to paint or say but after a few months to mull it over, decided to post this :D
Fear can be such a crippling emotion, paralyses you from the inside out and that really sucks!
Never let it get to the level where it stops you from living your life and pursuing your goals!

[10/10] - Marvel Cinematic Studios Style.
hot damn I had a look back at my Tumblr and realised I never uploaded my 10th Self Portrait? :O Well, here it is :) This was definitely a style I was not used to, there’s so many realistic aspects to think about and for me I know I struggled with being outside my comfort zone.
It’s all good though, my senior colleague helped me a lot with learning Photobashing and I do believe “Growth starts at the edge of your comfort zone”. Whether I’ll do this challenge again - I don’t know...it was pretty exhausting haha.
I’m still happy I completed it though! Also Personally am awareI saved the hardest till last!
