One of my first embroideries I completed. I drew my comic character onto some cotton muslin and embroidered it on my way to uni back in 2008. Back to then I used to take the tram so there was plenty of time to embroider whilst commuting. I used DMC cotton floss and standard cotton muslin for this little project. "Whale Savior" is a sculptural representation of a story that Mum, a boat generation refugee, used to tell me when I was a little kid. It was about how her boat was saved from a whirlpool by a whale. Her entire family survived those 2 weeks at sea and made it to Malaysia's Bidong Bay refugee camp.
