Metallic Shine!
The makeup, the hair, the clothes, they were all so delightfully out of the box for this shoot in the best way possible!!! I initially had a very limited knowledge of this was all going to come together, but thankfully I was with a team that really knew how to bring the metallic theme while keeping the fashion element!
Photographer: Adrian Teng Makeup Artist: Tessa Mitz Hair Stylist: Heather Diaz Wardrobe Stylist: Angie Mack
We all gathered at Adrian’s home studio very early in the morning to start makeup and hair last Saturday. This was my third time working with Adrian and my second time working with Angie. Heather and Tessa I haven’t worked with before this shoot, so I was excited to see how this will go!
We immediately started on hair right away, so that my hair will be tucked back and Tessa could work on my makeup without having my hair in the way of her brushes. Adrian was as hospitable as ever and offered us some breakfast and some cookies :)). By the time hair was finished, Angie arrived and started showing us what she’d brought for the wardrobe that day. Angie then discussed the colour palettes with Tessa, so that everyone knew which outfit was to be shot first along with what colour of makeup.
The makeup process was planned so that Tessa could build on each look simply by adding makeup onto it. Either that or even removing part of one makeup look and adding something different instead. It was built and built until the last look where I was completely covered in metallic paint, which was the most interesting look I’ve ever donned! Heather changed around the hair in a similar pattern, where she’d slowly let it lose or change it slightly. She also discussed with Angie to make sure the hair wasn’t covering a detail that Angie needed to show in her wardrobe
Angie’s wardrobe selection was so much fun in this one! Once again she’d gone over and beyond for a shoot, and I could tell that she had really worked hard to make this happen the way she envisioned it. She’d brought pieces from all sorts of designers and brands. My favorite was the silver shoes (shown above) that light up when you press a hidden button, and apparently can be charged with a USB cord!
I was quite tired by the time we took the final “that’s a wrap” group picture, mostly because I had two giant mosquito bites that had swollen up massively on my legs (I’m allergic to mosquito bites). But I had fun anyway, and everyone really tried to help me to make this shoot go easier on me, which was extremely sweet of them! Oh! And that’s Tessa’s cute dog in the picture that I’m trying to kiss. Her name’s Honey <3 She was our mascot for the day :D

Elegant Gowns & Amazing Team FTW!
A long overdue blog! After taking some time off away from internet, being busy with other shoots, I finally found time to catch up on blogging about my latest shoots! This shoot took place on July 26th, with these amazing people....
Photographer: Lillian Liu Makeup Artist: Alecia Repp Hair Stylist: Kimiko Stella Wardrobe Stylist: Erin Harder
There was quite a bit of planning for this one, around a month prior it’s been planned, and was initially going to take place outside on UBC grounds. However, Raincouver had different plans for us. Thankfully, Lillian was very quick in finding a studio for us in the last minute! Ronald Lee, a Vancouver photographer, was very kind to allow us to use his studio for the day and stayed with us until the shoot was over (thank you Ronald!!).
The energy was high that morning, and everyone was stoked that this was finally happening! Lillian first played around with the lights with Ronald’s help. They had Erin standing in for lighting test after she set out the wardrobe in the other room. Kimiko started on my hair right away because there was a lot of small voluminous curls involved, so a lot of time had to be dedicated into it. She had roughly 5 different sized/shaped irons ready to go, so I knew this was gonna look amazing!! I always love having giant hair in shoots, so needless to say I loved my hair for this shoot, regardless of the time it took to make it so.
After my hair was all finished, Alecia proceeded with my makeup! She first consulted with Erin to know what colours were involved in the dress and discussed with Kimiko and Lillian as well to make sure everyone was on the same page. This was the creative process for all 6 looks and I really loved the team dynamics for this one! Everyone had such good ideas and knew exactly what will pull together the entire look with each element. One of my favorite makeup looks in the entire shoot was the berry red-purple lips Alecia put on me for the first two dresses! It gave such a nice shape to my already full lips <3
This shoot was my first time working with Erin, so I was very excited about the wardrobe already. I was blown away by her selections, and each piece fit me perfectly. I was so happy about that, because every shoot I’m always worried about not fitting something a stylist brings in. Erin laughed and told me she’s had very good luck with sizes lately and told me not to worry. She also brought an assortment of jewellery, some she even customized to make it even more unique and to go with the dresses a lot better. This out of the box thinking really paid off for all the looks, giving the entire wardrobe an artistic touch.
Just like our last shoot together, Lillian was a very quick behind the camera. So much so that one look took less than 10 minutes to shoot. And it didn't feel stressful at all, it just went by quickly. This shoot’s concept was Lillian’s idea to begin with, so she knew exactly which vision to follow as we shot, and had a good artistic eye for it. My favorite was when she added a see through silk sheet into my look and had me hold it in different ways. We even had me fully under the sheet for dramatic effect, it looks so elegant and mysterious!
Definitely a fun shoot that flew by quickly, very artistic and out of the box. Since I’m blogging about this a little later, I’ve already seen the edits at this point. Although I can’t quite share them now, I am very much looking forward to the day that I can. Because the edits all look like an artistic painting almost, and not at all like me in real life. Which is always fun to see in photos!
Can’t wait to share!! thank you Lillian, Alecia, Kimiko, Erin and Ronald for making this shoot so magical <3

extra shot that I really liked from the Empire editorial published in Tinsel Tokyo Issue 31! this pose was inspired from @cocorocha 's #studyofpose and although it doesn't look exactly like the way she did it, I like it better that way. posing isn't about trying to be exactly like others, it's about doing your own thing that works for you and feeling great about it ;) Photographer: @adrianteng83 Makeup Artist: @elizabethmmakeup Hair Stylist: @ameliaaceleste Wardrobe Stylist: @laurenbluez #model #modeling #modellife #charlesstuartmodels #charlesstuartinternational #csi #csimodels #vancouvermodel #makeup #photoshoot #shoot #photographer #makeupartist #mua #hair #hairstylist #style #fashion #wardrobe #stylist #shot #action #pose

Handprints! - Part 2/2 of shoots on Friday
After shooting since 9am for another shoot, I rushed over to this shoot all tired-eyed and hungry. Luckily, I had some coffee and half a sandwich to get me going!
Photographer: Adrian Teng Hair and Makeup Artist: Elizabeth McLeod
As much as my current focus is shooting for magazine submission, this one was for Elizabeth’s school project, so I really wanted to make sure I could help her! This project was towards a brief set by Vivienne Westwood and Val Garland. So it was a good opportunity for all of us involved, and was glad Elizabeth picked me to do this :)
As soon as Elizabeth and I got to Adrian’s home studio he kindly gave us some pizza and we got straight to work. This one was less makeup heavy compared to my first shoot of the day, which my skin was thankful for! Elizabeth barely put any makeup on me for this one with the exception of a little bit of concealer. The inspiration behind this was Vivienne Westwood’s runway model looks, which are also bare-faced with just a bit of concealer if needed. I will admit that I felt a little self conscious because I was so used to being caked with makeup when being photographed, and I was already pretty tired-eyed. But not letting it show was the key for this one!
The main focus was the brush strokes and hand prints on my face for this shoot! This was meant to represent politicians taking the people’s voices by using the power of oil as a political weapon. Adrian was very prompt with the edits so I am able to share the edits right away. And because of that vision that we are representing, I was told to look wide-eyed, blank-faced and even hurt for these shots!
Adrian played around with the lights alot to get the results Elizabeth was envisioning, and I’d get a brush stroke or two added in whenever Adrian played around with the lighting set up. And at the end of the shoot, Adrian transferred the pictures to his laptop and let us pick out the shots we needed. Since this was Elizabeth’s vision for her projet, I didn’t really mind which ones she picked. We even stuck around a little after so that Elizabeth can oversee the editing for the first image to give Adrian an idea of how much editing she needed! Turns out she needed minimal editing, with even the dark circles under my eyes to be kept as is!
At the end of it all I came home around midnight feeling very tired and sore but very proud to have had such a busy day doing what I love... :)  Check out Part 1 of this Friday blog (aka, blog on the shoot before this one!): http://jkitsjoni.tumblr.com/post/124555537377/looking-posh-in-long-skirts-and-gowns-part-1-2-of

Looking Posh in Long Skirts and Gowns! - Part 1/2 of shoots on Friday
This past Friday was quite the day! I landed myself not just one, but two photoshoots in that one day! The two were very different so I’m going to be splitting it into two different blogs!
The awesome people involved in this shoot! Photographer: Inga Avedyan  Hair and Makeup Artist: Qianwen (Kiki) Xiang Wardrobe Stylist: Jason Pillay Lighting Assistant: Steven Noble
We started makeup at 9am at Inga’s studio just outside the gastown area! Kiki had alot of work to do for this one because she had to do both hair and makeup! While Kiki was working on me, Inga and Steve set up the backdrop for the shoot! They set up the lighting and a round platform for me to stand and pose on. They even set up a fan to wind either my hair or any of the garments I was wearing, but we mostly just used it to escape the heat! :D
Inga shot the pictures so quickly, we actually finished shooting 6 different outfits in 2.5 hours or so, including makeup time! She made sure we explored all sorts of angles with each outfit, and gave me lots of opportunity to pose differently each time! And after a while, she’d look through the photos we captured, and re do some of the poses she liked for good measure :) She worked with Steven throughout the whole thing to play around with lighting, and to see what lighting works better with the colour of the dress or the makeup.
Kiki had to work together with Inga and Jason to make sure the colour palettes and the right features our brought out for the next look. Over the course of the shoot, I transformed from a smokey-eyed bronzed beauty to this white eye-browed alien creature, all in the 2.5 hours we had! While I was in the makeup chair, Jason walked back and fourth between the makeup table and the wardrobe table to see if an earring or necklace went with what I was wearing or my makeup. Everyone was busying themselves so much that I was sitting there thinking, ‘should I help someone? can I help...? no? ok...’ hahahaha!
The one thing I know I found to be a challenge at this shoot was the angling while posing on a raised platform. I’ve never posed on an actual platform like that, so I didn’t think about it initially, so here and there I would need to tweak my poses accordingly. Especially when I tilt my head up, I had to do it just so slightly so that on photo my face will still be captured and not just my neck and chin! :D so I definitely learned more about posing for this one!
After shooting all six outfits I literally rushed off to get to my next shoot! I was already quite tired from this first shoot so I wondered how I was going to manage that second one. But I did manage! Go check out what went on for that second shoot here! http://jkitsjoni.tumblr.com/post/124559143267/handprints-part-2-2-of-shoots-on-friday-after

In-Store shoot! - Alfie Italia!
I had the pleasure of modeling some of the womenswear for Alfie Italia last Sunday and I’m finally getting some down-time to blog about it!
I initially had no connection to Alfie Italia, despite the fact that I had passed by the store a handful of times on my way to different shoots in the same area! I was actually recommended by a photographer, Edward Lai, whom I haven’t worked with just yet. He introduced me to the marketing-smith and photographer for this shoot, Orianna Lacey!
After the introduction, Orianna had me come to her office to tell me a little bit about the shoot. Telling me that Alfie Italia is a local brand with designers based in Italy. She then explained to me what the brand stands for and what will be expected of me at the shoot. This meeting was 3 days before the actual shoot took place, so I will admit that I was a little intimidated and really wanted to do well in this shoot!
We initially planned for minimal/basic makeup for this shoot, but since I had no makeup skills what so ever, I was lucky to have Lily CT as our makeup artist that day! Even though the makeup was relatively basic (red eyeliner at the bottom of the eye, fair amount of contouring), this makeup artist-pharmacist-extraordinaire gave it her very best! It was so inspiring to see someone who is so intelligent but is also passionate in the arts! :)
On the day of the shoot, we actually shot at the store itself, with the backdrop white screen set up right in front of the store window for good natural light if we needed it. The beginning of the shoot I’ll admit I was still a bit nervous. Luckily I wasn’t the only model scheduled to shoot that day! Julianne Keu also came in to model some of the womenswear with me that day. She and I rotated on and off the backdrop screen, so that when I’m changing into the next piece(s), Julianne is shooting her outfit and vise versa. She made everything look so good on her!! So much so that every time I was rushing back to get changed into the next outfit, I’d see her and go: WOW... *jaw drop*. The owner of the store, Grace Chumfong, was present to give us instructions and to pick out which of her pieces she wanted photographed. She also knew right away which of the outfits would look best on which girl, so it turned out well for both models! I personally loved every single outfit Grace put on me, which ranged from long elegant gowns to giant tutus!
Orianna captured all the outfits very quickly, and was very fun to work with! She gave simple instructions, enough that I could catch on to what she probably wanted from me next. And even though we only needed plain shots of the clothes that day, she even let me free-style some poses here and there just to keep things fun! I roughly went through 6 different outfits, rotating on and off with Julianne, and we still managed to finish in 2 hours!
After this shoot, I secretly just wanted to go back to the store and just go shopping for all the clothes XD! Thank you Alfie Italia and Orianna for having me!!! :D Quick notes! > Go check out Orianna’s company on Facebook, TheMarketingSmith  https://www.facebook.com/themarketingsmith > Go check out Alfie Italia’s website!  http://www.alfieitalia.com/

Inspiration Explosion! - With some 20′s music <3
Yesterday I had the pleasure of work with Kiki Qianwen Xiang (Makeup Artist) again to create her magic on me. And this time we had Anthony Mak as our Photographer, who is also Kiki’s husband. Anthony has accompanied Kiki to our shoots before, and he was actually the one to take some of the behind the scenes pictures 2 shoots ago! We’ve all been talking about trying to organize a shoot together for a while, and it finally happened yesterday! :D
By the time I got to the duo’s home studio, Kiki already had 4 looks for hair and makeup all planned out on her tablet! All very different, and inspired from all sorts of magazines! I could really tell that she had put alot of thought into all this. She worked tirelessly for hours! We started around 11:30am and she worked hard till the end which was around 8:45pm! She did hair first then the makeup, then I’d go shoot the look, in which she’d do touchups for my hair and makeup almost the entire time! One thing I noticed about how calculated she was with this was that she has worked with me enough times to know which side of my face I use more. So she knew which side to put that one side pony tail, or that glitter on my face.
Anthony once again took some behind the scenes photos while Kiki was hard at work on me. He and Kiki worked together to see what works and what doesn’t. Anthony was very good with quick instruction. He would literally have one or two words to describe what he wanted from me for each look, and there was no way of me misunderstanding it. For one look he’d tell me, “innocent, wide-eyed,” and other he’d say, “black-swan.” Those instructions made sense to me. On top of that, he showed me some example images of other models making the expressions that he liked the vibe of, and even showed me the facial expressions himself! I laughed every time!
Despite the long hours, the overall vibe of the shoot was just so much fun! It was just so fun to work with the two such talented and super nice people. They made sure they took care of me by offering me water and food throughout, and put on some SICK music!! I loved the couple’s taste in music! It was very classy, 1920s, 30s and 40s sounding! I absolutely loved it! They also played a classy sounding version of Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, so I was loving it! The music definitely kept the entire thing up beat and I even sang along and did a silly dance in between takes ;) Anthony actually captured a bit of that on video so keep an eye out! ;) Quick Note:  To see what was going on two shoots ago with Kiki and Anthony (with a bunch of others on board) check out my blog on it down here! http://jkitsjoni.tumblr.com/post/121734267352/dont-need-sparkles-to-let-your-personality-shine

Shakira-Lorde Hair Time For the WIN!!
Thank goodness I got wifi connection on my laptop back! This shoot was literally 5 days ago, and it’s about time I blog about it’s fabulousness!!!
Photographer: Sabrina Liu* Makeup Artist: Elizabeth McLeod Hair: Alecia Repp *she also took all the behind the scenes photos shown here, excluding the 2 selfies (taken by me) and the collage which was taken and made by Alecia!
I once again had the chance to go back to Sabrina’s studio and do a fun shoot! Although with a different hair stylist and makeup from the last time, this shoot was just as magical! With a bit more sass this time I’d say!! We did 4 makeup and hair looks in total, and went in 2 different directions! The first two looks that we did, we went in a more street-edgy direction. Whilst, the last two looks were more stylized, more towards glamorous than street.
Elizabeth majorly played with the shades and strokes that goes on my eyes and lips! I could really tell that this had to be very precise because Elizabeth and Alecia discussed their plans for the next look each time to make sure that both of their work will compliment each other! My favorite makeup look was the one with the burgundy red lips, mostly because it’s a look that I personally put on myself in every day life. There’s just something about that shade that makes me feel confident and edgy, so I really appreciated that :) Another familiar territory was the blue lips, which I’ve done in another shoot, and really loved. It’s just one of those things where it’s not commonly done because most imagine it to look bad (or too out there), but it actually looks super cool! :D
Alecia had the most tedious task of all that really paid off at the end: Braiding ALL of my hair in small sections! The original plan was to put my hair in braids, flat ironing it and letting it out to create those wavy curls. But we decided to keep the braids for at least one look because it turned out to look really cool! And when the braids were out after, I was given Shakira-Lorde hair!! I loved how it looked SO MUCH that I really just wanted to do this to my hair EVERYDAY! Alecia definitely had alot of tricks up her sleeves for this one! she managed to use those same curls and change it slightly for the next 2 different looks after that! :D
While Alecia and Elizabeth were working their magic on me, Sabrina busied herself with lighting tests, setting up the backdrop, and taking these behind the scenes photos! I was so impressed to see her move around her strobes and lighting gear to take these behind the scenes photos. I just felt that it showed precision in her work, trying to make sure all of us look good on and off the camera! :D She also took the time to show me the edits from the shoot that we did before, and I was literally squealing! I can’t wait to share it with the world!!!
By the end of it I looked very bronzed, and very much “Shakira-fi-ed”! I felt so glamorous walking to the bus stop from the studio on my way home, even though I was literally in sweats (as I was the entire time as you can see from the photos!). Was definitely an amazing time with an amazing group of ladies!
Quick Notes: > Check out the blog I wrote about my previous shoot with Sabrina! http://jkitsjoni.tumblr.com/post/119668221492/bright-colors-and-puzzles-all-for-one-dress > FUN FACT: this shoot was the first shoot I started to video the behind the scenes! So a video is coming! :D

Don’t Need Sparkles to Let Your Personality Shine! - But it Doesn’t Hurt!
This shoot was shot just yesterday, and to accommodate everyone’s schedules, we started hair and makeup in the evening! But despite everyone coming from their day to day routines, everyone worked tirelessly until the end!
Photographer: Ryan Dieselseven Makeup Artist: Qianwen (Kiki) Xiang Hair Stylist: Terra French Wardrobe Stylist: Sophie Coltellaro Behind the scenes photos taken by Anthony Mak!
I was in hair and makeup with Kiki and Terra worked on me, as Ryan set up the backdrop a few feet away from us. Putting the sparkles in the wardrobe into consideration as he adjusts the lighting. Sophie was helping out Ryan as she held out the sparkly material in the wardrobe around the spot where I’d be standing. I thought that was quite precise, as I never thought the clothes I’m wearing (and how sparkly they are) mattered!
Highlights?
Doggy Superstar! - Ryan has a very hyper (and very friendly!) 3 year old dog and the big guy joined us during the shoot! He walked around with his tail wagging the entire time, dropping by the makeup and hair station and quickly dropping by the backdrop Ryan was setting up, as if to make sure he won’t miss out on any of the excitement that was going on! He even dropped in on the few shots with me, it was so cute!! :D And when Ryan asked Sophie to stand in the backdrop for a lighting test by saying “can you stand over there for me?” The big guy just strolled over so naturally, as if Ryan had just asked him! He was definitely the superstar of the shoot! :D :D :D
Sparkles and Glitter! - Kiki has definitely prepared amply for this shoot! She had images upon images on her tablet to inspire her along the way for this shoot! Mostly images from Vogue or Pinterest it seems. I never thought that there’d be this many different ways to apply glitter to a person’s face, but here we are with 4 very different looks revolving around glitter! In the span of 5.5 hours of the shoot; I had glitter on my eye lids, under my eyes, on my lashes, all over my collarbone, my shoulders, my arms/wrists and right down to my fingers! It looked so pretty, and done very tastefully!
Quick and Sassy Hair! - Terra was very quick to work on the 4 different hair stylists! Sophie, Kiki and Terra all worked together to make sure the makeup, hair and wardrobe will all go together perfectly. I was so surprised how quickly the hair styles transitioned from one to the other. Usually it takes a bit of time to undo a look and start all over again. But Terra managed to create sassy hair styles in such a short amount of time! Which worked to everyone’s advantage, since it was getting late by the time we reached our 3rd look!
Sparkly Everything! - Sophie made sure there was at least one sparkly item in my outfit for every look! And although every outfit had sparkles, she made it so that I’d look like a different genre of people, and not just someone who likes to wear alot of sparkles. For example, one of the looks made me look a bit like a dancer, while the other had a gothic tone to it. My favorite was the pants completely covered in gold sparkles that had a high waist. Sophie matched those pants with a black top and a big gold necklace! An outfit after my own heart!
By the time we were done, it was getting awfully close to midnight! So I can say that I was very blessed with such committed people! :) I can’t wait till we get to see the edited photos! :D
