Image 1: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind . Image 2: 'Eternal Sunshines of the Spotless mind' eagerly and critically reviewing the photographer's ( @krishna666 ) work . This was during the 65th National School Games Mallkhamb Championship held at Miraj, Maharashtra in January 2020 which my friend Krishna ( @krishna666) and myself had covered . (More on that later) . The protagonists in the picture are the young students of the Adarsh Shikshan Mandir school, a small school in a small city of India. They played part audience and part eager models (always self volunteered) during the event. At times when not paid attention to, were persistently pestering enough to distract the photographer's focus 😁😁😁. . It was great and hectic fun to be there, interacting and bantering with these young 'uns. They are so full of life, energy and curiosity. Companionship and smiles comes so easy to them. A pose here, a look there, accompanied by endless and instructions ( can't forget that 😁) to the hapless photographer on how to the picture should turn out. . And during this, through these crystal clear souls, we were reminded.. Equidistancing... . . . Flamingos and other water birds forage and connect. This was at first light in the wetlands at Mankhurd, Mumbai. . They seemed to form social bonds and yet they did maintain and respect personal space. I did not notice any overt aggression or shows of dominance. Peaceful coexistence reigned supreme. Then and there, the world seemed just fine. Everything was quiet yet profound. . Hmmm.. that can't be it. The world is spinning crazy. Maybe it is not all what I am making of it. This must be just plain sleep deprivation doing my thinking. These thoughts are too damn buoyant. Way too nice. Naah, Real life ain't that drippin' sweet... . And yet that cheesy thought. It, it feels right. The strong kind of feeling right. That realisation makes me happy. That's its then... Peaceful coexistence is the only right way to live our lives. . Er, why are we not doing more of that? The answer must be social conditioning. It has to be. From time immemorial, we love and glorify aggression. This has seeped into our genetic make-up. It is encoded in us. Aggression is, at many a time, our first response. Aggression is the key to being Big Daddy. . Hmm..But it's not all hopeless, right. The opposite could also work. if we conditon ourselves back to refrain from aggression (Impossible task alert!!!) as the first step, then over generations, we could correct that error in our code. The one which seeks Perpetual War. That could also be possible. Yes. Buddda, Gandhi et al. say so too. And then just like that an overzealous slogan shouted itself out in my head "Long live Equality, Liberty and Fraternity..' Hmm...That just weirded out that moment beyond repair. I should find coffee.. Worship the Idyll... . A small flock of geese around an ancient holy worship stand at the Banganga tank, Walkeshwar temple complex, Mumbai. . The story of Banganga dates back to the time of epic Ramayana. Legend states that during his pursuit of the demon king Ravana who had abducted his wife Sita, Lord Rama visited this very place to seek blessings from Lord Shiva. During his time here, in the absence of a fresh water source, to quench Lord Ram's thirst, his brother Lakshman shot an arrow (Ban in Hindi) into the ground that brought the holy river Ganga here. Thus the name BanGanga which literally means the Ganga created by the Ban (arrow). . The original tank and temple complex was first constructed by a minister in the court of the Silhara dynasty around 1127 C.E. Over the centuries,the complex has fallen into disrepair or been destroyed many times only to be rebuilt and rise again. It's last cycle of destruction and rebirth was during the 16th century, when it was destroyed by the Portuguese who ruled Mumbai at that time. True to its character, it rose again when it was rebuilt around 1715. . The Banganga tank and the Walkeshwar temple complex continue to serve the spiritual needs of the people of Mumbai. Something it has always done since antiquity, acting as a conduit to the Supreme to rejuvenate the spirits and the souls of us, dreary mortals . Wither the Spider.. . An Orchard Spider on a withering flower at Aarey. One thing I have been pleasantly surprised and amazed at Aarey is with the wide spectrum of insect species observed (Er, We humans have mostly wiped out the bigger species so that explains that). Maybe it is because I am a detached urban dweller cutoff from real nature but i haven't observed this level of bio diversity at reclaimed spaces or garbage dumps now capped off as Nature parks.. And they were debating if Aarey was a forest...
