First in person retreat since 2019! 🙌🏽🤗 Last Friday, I had the opportunity to facilitate a StrengthQuest team retreat for folx in the Office of Residential Life and Housing at State University of New York College at Cortland with my colleagues Christine Barkley I really loved having the opportunity to lead this team in uncovering their individual strengths while helping them learn and understand each others. The program guided them to start developing trust, reflection, empathy, vulnerability, and community building as a team. They worked collaboratively to build a stronger relationship with each other while using their themes to help them understanding each others identities, working styles, and behaviors. 60 Job Applications, 20 Interviews, 4 Job Offers! The job search journey is never easy, but it doesn't have to be hard! 2021 was definitely the year for recalculating (that was an intentional pun @lindseypollak ) and I have been very lucky to have a huge support system of people by my side to get through it. I was very strategic about how I spent my time researching companies and positions, while also recognizing my value, non-negotiables, and worth. I became more self-aware in what I wanted from my employer and the type of work I wanted to do. I have worked in Higher Education for 12 years! 8 of them for The State University of New York and 4 years at Syracuse University. Pivoting out of higher ed and career development was something I never thought I would do or even say out loud. BUT the more time I spent searching and applying to different schools and companies, I realized it was time to make a change. I knew that I didn't want to leave the education industry completely and my career has always been dedicated to career development, DEI and leadership. Three things that were part of my values and very important to me. In my job search, I fell in love with one company in particular. I already had a working relationship as a customer with this company, but it wasn't until talking with my Relationship Manager at the time Scott Millslagle that it became clearer I was meant to work with @joinhandshake I am very excited to share that I have accepted a position at Handshake as a Relationship Manager on the Education Success team! I am beyond thrilled to be joining the amazing people at Handshake and look forward to starting a bright new chapter in my career. Although my time at @sunypolytechnic is coming to an end, it is NOT the end of my time in higher ed. I will be serving as one of the instructors for the SUNY Center of Professional Development in the Career Readiness Champion Program. I will also be continuing to lead and facilitate StrengthsQuest training as a Gallup Strengths Coach. 🎈🎉🥳 100 EPISODES OF COACHING FOR MILLENNIALS 🎈🎉🥳 I've neglected to make a post on this for a week now, but I wanted to make sure I share this major milestone with you all! 🤗💖   WE DID IT!! 100 episodes of the podcast, "Coaching For Millennials: Career | Life | LinkedIn." This is a huge milestone and accomplishment. I always say life is meant to be celebrated, big or small. Take the time to appreciate and reflect on what you've accomplished. It's so important to see and recognize your growth and success. Every win is one worth celebrating.    Reflecting on the last 100 episodes, I really wasn't sure what the show was going to become and where it was going. I only knew that it was something I wanted to do and needed to do for my own sanity. I was in a really shitty place mentally and emotionally and the podcast became comforting. No one was around except me, my microphone and my two goldendoodles. The more I learned about podcasts, creating content, sharing it with the world and seeing what it could become, I knew I was doing the right thing.  The point is that if you have a dream or desire that you want to achieve, DO IT! Stop making excuses or telling yourself that you can't because it just is NOT TRUE!! We all have gifts and talents just waiting to be uncovered. Our dreams are fueled by what we see, hear, and learn. You just need a little extra push to believe in yourself and do it messy. Because guess what, no one is going to know or care that you're not an expert and that you screwed something up.
