Last night I wrote a 1000 word paper I’d been procrastinating for over a week. Today I have to do a whole report on how the Franco-Prussian war influenced art at the time. I am shit at this school stuff

Sometimes we fall out of good habits. Including reading. But never let yourself fully quit. If you loved the library as a kid, return. Even if you don’t check anything out. If you can’t motivate yourself to read 500-page books in one sitting like you used to, try smaller books. 100-200 pages. Short stories. Magazines. Find something you’re passionate about and consume media of it. Not just social media, but artistic media.

I used to love reading more than anything. I fell out of the habit. Now I’m motivating myself with magazines. Vogue. Architectural Digest. The Economist when I come across it. Read the stories and interviews, don’t merely look at the pictures. I just received a book about Diana’s fashion evolution. You’d better believe I will be reading that front to back.

Slowly, with effort, we can find our way back to our childhoods through things that bring us joy. Then and now. They may not look the same, but the joy will be.

i lost my little smudge bear keychain and i’m so sad about it i literally cried like he was so little and i took him off my bag cause it was raining and I didn’t want him to get wet but then i put him in my pocket and he FELL OUT and i didn’t notice till it was too late and i went back to find him but he was GONE so either he got swept down into the like sewers or someone picked him up and i don’t think my uni has a lost n found but even if we do what are the chances they took him there im gonna cry again he was SO LITTLE

- i got hungry. reheated chow mein from lunch (panda express)

- my mom texted me a picture of me holding our dog when she was a puppy (she was so little 🥹)

- my boyfriend texted me about his baby niece

- i want to journal. except i already did today & don’t actually have more to say

i genuinely believe that the ability to pursue academia is the pinnacle of human evolution.

unfortunately, in order to get there, we must eliminate need—the need to work to feed ourselves, to keep the lights running, to pay taxes.

that means that only the very privileged can pursue academia; only the very privileged can reach the pinnacle of human evolution.

but privilege does not translate to intelligence, nor does it translate to an interest in pursuing knowledge. some of the wealthiest people in the world have proven themselves, time and time again, to be complete idiots.

so in order for any of us to reach the pinnacle of human evolution, we must all be able to reach it. we must eliminate the system that binds us.
