I love learning. I know. I'm such a nerd 🤓 right now I'm teaching myself American sign language. Earlier this year it was the Hebrew alphabet. For no other reason other than I wanted to learn something new and not of the norm.

langblr ask! #8, 16, and 24 :)
8. Favorite word in your target language
hmmm hard one!! greek: κοκκινομάλλα (kokkinomala - readhead) I just think it's funky! te reo: there are so many good ones!!! I'm a fan of ira which I was taught means essence of/becoming. as in tangata ira tane (person+ essence of + man) , or irawhiti (essence of + change/cross over). hebrew: oz! idk the alefbet version, but it means strength/courage and I love it! I want it to be a part of my hebrew name.
16. Vocab word you are struggling with right now
I really struggle with the Greek word for go?? it just doesnt stick in my head easily! πηγαίνω my beloathed. don't really have one for te reo and hebrew!
24. Why are you studying your target language?
Greek because I'm half Greek, and I want to speak to my grandparents who don't enjoy speaking English very much! Hebrew, as I'm converting and it's very useful to have an understanding beyond the required alefbet! Te Reo Māori, as it's my heritage language and the language of my ancestors, and I feel a responsibility to do my part to help the revitalization efforts!
thank you, ngā mihi, ευχαριστώ!

Jewish Divination: Casting Lots
Tumblr media
Hello everyone! This has been a project in the making, but I have finally finished my research project on Jewish divination and casting lots, including how one can do it yourself. This took me a lot of time looking and different resources but I am really happy how this turned out! I have decided to put it up for purchase for $5.00 as I am currently without a job due to COVID-19. I hope you choose to support my work and get access to a great guide! “This is a short history and guide to the Jewish divination of casting lots. Cleromancy is an ancient technique of divination found in many cultures, and one practiced by Jews even until today. This book offers meanings and attributes to each letter as defined by sources like Sefer Yetzirah and Hassidut, while also suggesting ways to use them as connection with Divinity.”

The alefbet
There’s a silver lining to all this misery. Up until the Babylonian Captivity, the books of the Hebrew Bible had been memorized and recited orally. But when the Jews found themselves far from home and their Temple, in danger of losing everything that made Jews who they are, afraid that future generations would forget G-d and His covenant with His chosen people—they started writing the Bible. They…
