Now is probably a good time to mention that I got my rights back from my publisher and am republishing The Stormwatch Diaries with explicit aromantic and asexual rep!

I’m not a fan of word of God rep myself, but when I published my first book Legend of the Storm Sneezer at 21, I did not know I was asexual or arospec. By the time I had come out, my second book was already written. Only then did I realize that my characters Rose and Marek were aroace, and I couldn’t go back and make it more explicit.

Soon I was writing my third book and wanted desperately to include aspec rep, but my publisher was NOT a good fit for explicitly queer characters. So I did my best to show Rose and Marek’s aromantic discovery journey without saying the actual words.

All of this to say, I am so happy to be doing what me and my partner call “The Frontal Lobe Remaster” since I’m remastering the stories after my frontal lobe has been fully developed. 🤣 There will be EXPLICIT asexual and aromantic rep this time around as well as autism rep and a much tighter reign on the “too much going on”…

But thank you, thank you, thank you for reading my stories as they were (and as I still love them) and sharing about them! It means so much to me, and this was such a cool surprise.

Aro book review: The Stormwatch Diaries by Kristiana Sfirlea (book 1: Legend of the Storm Sneezer)

MG fantasy series. There are 3 so far, more to come.

It's a very creative series, with a lot going on (maybe too much) but is basically about a group of legend hunters (focusing on one girl) and their adventures. There's angels, hell-hounds, and time travel.

Due to how many elements were incorporated and also how long I read them apart, I did get confused at times where there were things I'd forgotten.

While romance free, the aroace rep wasn't as prominent as I'd been led to believe - for books 1 and 2 it's only word of god, and while book three had good inclusion of some common aro sentiments (enough that I probably would have noticed without knowing beforehand), it wasn't totally spelled out that the MC and her best friend are aroace.

Yelena Belova is asexual, she is not a lesbian. Pointing out her canon sexuality isn't "lesbian erasure" if she was never a lesbian

Just a heads up.

“It’s a different universe” is not a valid reason to erase Yelena’s sexuality when discussing the MCU.

You would never stand for a lesbian or a gay character being made straight because “it’s a different universe”, so you don’t get to say it’s fine for an aroace character. (

It really feels like you don’t care about Yelena, you just care about your ship. 🤷🏼‍♀️
