I think it's funnier if Alastor initially hated the idea of being a radio host.

Like he starts out his career as a writer or maybe a janitor and learns how to speak like a host through mocking them. Then after one joke too many, one of the hosts doesn't show up and the place is short handed so his boss in desperation asks for anybody who knows how to do a radio accent and his coworker outs him.

Alastor: Respectfully, I'd rather eat a basket of razor blades than speak on the radio.

His boss: I'll give you a dollar if you do.

Alastor, suddenly in his radio accent: Sold to the man in yellow!

Then he proceeds to absolutely muck things up, but people seem to like it! He's different and unafraid to express his opinion, even if that opinion is detrimental to his own career. He starts out trying to get people to hate him so the manager will stop asking him to be in the air and goes on to finally starting to enjoy the job itself.
