I made mint ice cream last night. My mom tried it and said it was good but very minty. I went to bed without trying it.

I tried the ice cream this morning and couldn't taste the mint at all. I had mint candy just yesterday so I know my tastebuds work. What on earth could possibly have happened? Did the mint extract somehow all settle down to the bottom? Does mint extract have its flavor compounds destroyed if left in too cold a freezer? Should I just have let the ice cream thaw?

Hmm...maybe you could try cutting up a bunch of old pairs of jeans, sewing them together somehow, and dying it (them?) black. I tried sewing a short skirt out of old jeans once though I didn't really know what I was doing and it didn't turn out well. I just added fabric panels between the legs with a pit of pleating and they came out looking like messed up puffy shorts. You'll probably want to use an already fitting pair for the waist, and cut it as high over the bottom of the crotch as you can get away with without damaging the pockets or zipper. Cut the bottom to be a straight line, and then sew on the denim (taken from the cut legs of other pairs) in a gather. That gather could be really tough fabric to sew so use a heavy duty needle and, if hand sewing, thimble(s). (I've learned firsthand that hand-stitching denim can hurt your fingers) You'll also want to hem any exposed edges to stop the fabric from unraveling.

Dying it should be relatively easy. Buy some black dye and more importantly dye fixative (sometimes sold in grocery stores rather than just craft ones) and follow the instructions on the bottle or box. However, since you'd be using different pairs of jeans you might have issues with some of them turning out as different colors.

The other big tips are to have an iron to help you keep bits of fabric straight, measure twice cut once, and to use fabric scissors because others kinds may struggle to cut the fabric cleanly, if at all.

Scientifically, you probably just experienced a hypnagogic hallucination. It's normal to have minor hallucinations when you're falling asleep or waking up. If you start hearing loud stuff that bothers you, it's called exploding head syndrome.
