The mysterious case of ‘Dear David’
A few days ago, I came across a twitter account belonging to a guy named ‘Adam Ellis’ Adam is an illustrator and an author who claims a ghost child named David is haunting his home in New York. This story has captivated hundreds of twitter users, all trying to figure out the imposible. One thing is for certian, this story will send shivers down your spine.
This story begins with a tweet reading, ‘So, my apartment is currently being haunted by the ghost of a dead child and he’s trying to kill me. What happens onwards is both interesting and chilling.
So, according to Adam, he is being haunted by a ghost child. Adam drew an picture of what appears to be a young boy with a mishapen head with a dent in one side. He saw this young boy in a dream he had, but thinks he may have crossed over into the real world. He states in a tweet that the first time he saw the boy was when he experienced sleep paralysis, and saw him sitting in a green rocking chair at the end of his bed. The boy stared at Adam for a period of time, and got up from the chair and started to move towards the bed. Being paralyzed, Adam was unable to move. He states that he suffers with sleepp paralsis often. Right before the mysterious child reaches the bed, Adam woke up, screaming.
Following this incident, Adam had another dream a few night later where he found himself in a libary. He explains that a girl went up to him and asks him if has seen David. Adam was unsure who Davis is, so asked the girl. To which she replies “Dead David. You saw him.” The girl went on to say, “He’s dead. He only appears at midnight, and you can ask him two questions if you said ‘Dear David’ first.” She later added, “But never try to ask him a third question, or he’ll kill you.” Adam says he was quite shaken up over it, as having two dreams about the same thing is rather weird.
In later tweets, he goes on to say that a couple of weeks had passed with no incidents. Then, the young boy whom he now knows as ‘David’ appeared in another dream, sitting in the rocking chair, staring at him. In Adams dream, he asked, “Dear David, how did you die?” David mumbles an answer of “An accident in a store.” Adam continues with “Dear David, what happened in the store?” David groans, “A shelf was pushed on my head.” Adam explains that in his dream, he was frozen with fear and asked David, “Who pushed the shelf?” David doesn’t give him an answer. Adam realized he’d asked David a third question, which he was not supposed to do. At that point, Adam says he woke up, absolutely terrified.
In the days following the conversation with David, Adam says he googled deaths in and around his city involving a kid named David, dying in a store, but says he found nothing. He expalins that he tried different names, but still found nothing. He goes on to say that weeks passed by without incident. In his later tweets, he exlains that he moved into an empty flat with more space above his, and adds that months had passed, and he’d pretty much forgotten about David. Another tweet added to the thread reads, ‘But lately, something strange is happening.’
For four nights in a row, Adams cats had gathered at his front door at midnight on the dot, and just stared at it as if something was on the otherside. Adam, being unerved by this decided to have a look through the peephole on the door, and is convinced he saw movement. However, when he opened the door, and turned the light on, there was nothing there, but his cats seems scared, they had bushy tails, etc. In another tweet, Adam says, ‘And that’s where I am right now. Dear David found me, I think. I don’t know what to do. I’ll keep you updated.’
Six nights had gone by with his cats sitting and staring at the door at midnight. He says he took a photograph through the peephole as his was too scared to open the door, and he feels like he saw something. He built up the courage to open the door. Again nothing was there, but on the photo, it appears that something is hiding on the stairs. He took another photo through the peephole just to be sure. He goes on to say that he deadbolted the door, and got into bed as he didn’t know what else to do. He also adds that he could still hear his cats meowing at the door.
He says it’s routine for his cats to go to his door and start meowing at this point. He tweets a photo of salt around his door with the caption, ‘I don’t even know if this is the right kind of salt.’ Adam states he used a sound app to record his appartment. He explains it makes a recording each time it hears something. He says there were 33 recordings, but only a few he was interested in. The first involved a snapping sound, and what seems like a step, despite him not leaving bed all night. The second is one that has a weird electronic sound all the way through, and says that he finds it strange, as out of all 33 recordings, that is the only one with that sound. The third is of another snap, and him groaning in his sleep.
Adam has invested in a polaroid camera, saying he wanted one as they are fun and dorky. He deided to take a few snaps of his appartment. He went to the hallway, and took a photo. It came out completly black. He opened a fresh pack or polaroids to see if it was just undeveloped, but they all start out white. Adam says he thought he may have covered the lense accidently while taking a photo, so took another photo, with him purposely covering the lense. The photo turned out differently than the one of his hallway.  He states that it could be nothing, but he isn’t sure what to make of it. He posts a few videos of him taking photos. The second photo of the hallway turned out the same black as the first. He states it could still be nothing. A follower tweeted him suggesting he take photos futher away, so he takes on with his phone, and one with the polaroid again. The photo with the phone turned out normal, whereas the polaroid again turned out pitch black.
He continues to update twitter with the strange happenings of his home. He posts a picture with sage in his hand, as some of his followers had urged him to use sage. In a tweet he says, ‘Saging the hall, and definitely saging the hell out of this rocking chair.’ In a following tweet he says he doesn’t seem to think that sage would help, but he is open to anything, and also adds that he had barely slept. Following this, he says he kept waking up as he had a feeling something was wrong.
He says sage did not work, and in a tweet explains that he had not had a dream about David in months, but he showed up the previous night. Explaining the dream, Adam says his bedroom was filled with hazy smoke, but he could make out and see David sitting in the chair across the room. He describes David, saying he was smaller, almost shrunken, and that he didn’t do anything or say anything apart from look at him. His tweets finish with, ‘Anyway, it feels like a bad omen.’
Twitter users have noticed strange faces in a few of Adams photos. One of the most interesting one’s being a selfie on Adam. Far in the background, it seems there is a face, which is a striking lookalike of Adams drawing of David. Adam says make of it what you will.
Quite a few twitter users have called it out as fake. With the paranormal, you either believe it, or you don’t. However, fake or not, you can not deny this is creepy as hell!

One of the most embarassing highschool moments in my life
You can imagine what it’s like for a child to start a brand new school. Especially transitioning from Primary school to High School, or secondary school. For a child of 10/11 years, it will be stressful and quite nerve-racking. Even more so when you embarrass yourself on a next level. I have many embarrassing moments during my 5 years at high school, but I’m going to tell you about two that happened on my first day. It was my first week of starting high school, and it was a huge change for me. I’d gone from a small school, being in one classroom all day every day, to being in a huge building, having 5 lessons a day, with 5 different teachers. It was scary to say the least. The corridors were buzzing with life, and I wasn’t quite sure where to go, or where to start. I took a breather and, headed to the toilet. This is where it begun to go downhill. I entered the toilets, and was honestly confused about why there were boys in the girl restrooms. A few minutes had passed and, the lads in the girls' restroom were staring at me in disbelief. A teacher popped her hand around the corner and pulled me out, yelling at me in the process. I remember being confused about why she was telling me off. As if turns out, I’d actually entered the boys' restroom instead of the girls' restroom. I didn’t realise mostly because both doors of the girls and boys restrooms were wide open, covering the signs up. That and, the corridor was overly loud so I couldn’t think straight. I awkwardly laughed at the teacher and, scurried away to the correct restroom. What happened next was equally on par to the restroom incident. I remember looking at my shiny daily diary, and flicking to the page where my year-long time-table was. If I was going off my time-table, I had a science lesson next. I was excited as I liked science, and spent a big chunk of my summer holidays researching the curriculum so I’d have a head start. I found the stairs to the science department, and felt a tap on my shoulder. It was an older student on the school. It was easily distinguishable due to the different coloured tie. She seemed nice, and got close enough to whisper to me. She told me that she’d seen my leave the restroom, but couldn’t get to me quick enough to tell me that my skirt was tucked into my underwear. I went bright red with embarrassment. She nervously laughed at me, and offered to cover me whilst I pulled it back out. Me, still being bright red. These incidents may not seem embarrassing to you, but to an 11-year-old child who’s just started high school, it’s quite literally the end of the world. This was just the start of my embarrassing and gruelling high school life, but I’ll leave the rest to another day!

Just because it’s not physical doesn’t mean it’s not there
It todays society, when people mention domestic abuse, they almost instantaneously assume you mean domestic violence. Which is okay, but there is so much more to domestic abuse than the violence. People often overlook domestic abuse because it as being physical rather than psychological. When in reality, it can be either of the two, or even both. Domestic abuse doesn’t discriminate either. It can happen to absolutely anyone. Abuse in all shapes and forms can happen in heterosexual relationships, same-sex relationships. It can happen in any age bracket, and any ethnic, or economic background. Although women are more commonaly victimised, men can also be a victim of domestic abuse. Although this is overlook in todays society, due to society’s idea and misconceptions of it. It’s more common that men are verbally and emotionally abused. No matter who is involved, abuse is wrong, and unaceptabe, regardless.
I’ve recently got out of a relationship with my ex fiance. A lot of people around me have told me it’s for my own good, as I was in what they proclaim an abusive relationship. At first, I couldn’t see it, love clouded my judgment. All I wanted was him back in my life. Now I’m over the inital heartrbreak, I’ve been putting the pieces together, and having a think about what was so wrong about the way I’ve been treated.
My ex-partner would always check up on me while I was away from him. This seemed like a normal, loving thing for him to do, but I’ve realize it wasn’t. He’d constantly ask me who I was with, what I was doing, where I was. If I was drinking, if I was eating. When I’d reply to say I was with friends, or with a famliy member, he’d begin to get wound up.
Constantly accusing me of cheating on him, with friends of ours, may I add! He accused me almost daily of being unfaithful. Bringing my friendship with other males to attention, depsite the fact I had no interest in them. I was interested in him, and only him. We were engaged, I didn’t want anyone else.
Isolating me from friends and family - to an extent. He would say I spend too much time away from the house, and too much time with my friends. I wasn’t spending enough time with him, he sadid. Despite me spending almost 24/7 with him. I’d try to invite him out, but he’d decline. However, when the tables turned, and he was spending 4/5 nights a week staying out, I had to be okay with that. I was okay with it.
Constantly comparing me to past relationships, and to other people. Hitting me with the guilttrips such as ‘My ex didn’t let me do that’, ‘that’s exactly how my ex treated me’, ‘you’re getting like me ex you’. Despite me trying my absolute hardest and more to make him feel loved and wanted, I didn’t want him to feel like his ex before me had made him feel.
Constantly blaming me during arguments, turning things around on myself. I had to apologize for every argument, and every disagreement because it was entirely my fault everytime. It was my attitude that caused them, as he said. He was trying to change me as a person saying my tone of voice was horrible, he didn’t like it. He accused me of trying to change him, despite me having his best interests in heart.
He’d always throw the ‘if you love me you’ll do it’ card at me, and the ‘we are getting married, and you’re treating me like this’, or my personal favourite ‘do it or i’ll break the wedding off’. He’d use things like this to twist me around his finger and do things I didn’t really want to do.
There were a number of timed where he’d balled his fist up, and raised his hand to me during arguments and small disagreements. Although he never hit me, the intent was still there. I’d hate to imaging what would have happened if we would have lived alone. There was this incident one time where I was messing about with him, being silly, and I grabbed his face, and licked it. He grabbed my shoulder and bit it, very hard. Despite me telling him it hurt, he wouldn’t let go. He said it was a repercussion.
When we split up, he used a completly fake and false excuse. However, he did mention that I blew my last chance, I had ruined the relationship. I was a liar, and a cheat, and he couldn’t trust me any longer. He made me feel completly worthless, and I still feel worthless. He had made me feel like no one else will want to be with me, I’m damaged goods. I gave this boy absolutely everything and more, but it just wasn’t enough, so how will it ever be enough for someone else? I still feel guilty about it all, but that’s what abusers do, they shift the blame from themselves so they don’t have to feel this pain and guilt.
Absolutely nobody deserves to be in a abusive relationship where they don’t feel safe with their partner, or they don’t feel happy with their realtionship. Nobody deserves to be in a relationship where they feel like they’re being drained of life by their partner. It is okay to feel like you deserve better, because you do! It’s scary to think that you’ll be on your own, without this person, but you deserve so much better that your abuser has led you to believe. I can’t stress enough that you are not on your own, there are other people just like you, people in your position, and people who’ve survived the abuse. People like these will always be there every step of the way for you.
If you think you’re in an abusive relationship, whether it’s physical, or not physical, PLEASE TALK TO SOMEONE. Whether it be a friend, family, a professional, a stranger, etc. Just do it. In the long run, you will not regret it. There is support, and options out there for you. You will survive. Do not settle for abuse, it’s wrong. If your gut instinct tells you something is wrong, then act on it, because for the most part, it most part something most likely isn’t right.

Slight self reflection.
“Life is about becoming a better version of yourself” - Lucy Hale. I’ve distanced myself from people in the past few weeks, because I’ve needed time to figure out what I really want from life, and what the next steps are for me. It’s never a clear or easy path and it’s never set in stone like we’re lead to believe, and I’ve figured it out the hard way. But having a lot of time to reflect on myself, I’ve come to the following conclusions: A meaningful transformation is a choice.
None of us are perfect, and we don’t have to pretend to be, but it is necessary for us to be the best versions of ourselves if we want to succeed in life.
I have big plans for myself and I WILL strive and push myself everyday and further to become successful in my journey to gain these things and more. Things are bound to get tough along the way but that’s okay too.
I MUST NOT push away those who care about me. I have a small but loving circle of people around me who do everything possible everyday to make me smile, and I appreciate that.
“Three things cannot long be hidden. The sun, the moon, and the truth” (-Buddha) meaning the truth will always be found and be clear, I need to live in integrity.
I need to stop letting my mental illness(es) grasp a hold of my by the throat. I am not defined by my illness. I won’t let it win. Despite what I believe, I will be the same person without it. I need to continue with the road to recovery, though long and hard.
I need to believe in myself. Out of everybody I know, I deserve MY love the most. I need to start comparing myself to my past self rather than compare myself to other people, as that’s self-torture, and that is not healthy.
The best version of me needs to be in MY vision, and not someone else’s/what someone else perceives it to be.
Love myself, and embrace the imperfections. Own it. For example: My eyebrows have a habit of making my expression look like in a constant state of confusion, but I totally rock it.
Celebrate small wins. Rome wasn’t built in a day. To be successful, baby steps are helpful. Patience is the key. Remember: A jug fills drop by drop. (Again, another from Buddha) Patience is the key.
Big changes do not happen over night they take a lot of time. There are a lot more points I could discuss but I feel they all repeat themselves in a lot of ways. Basically, and in conclusion, the road to bettering yourself is a long and somewhat painful journey. It’s not meant to be easy. There will be twists, turns and obstacles, but no matter how long it takes, it’ll will be 150% worth the struggle. *I understand the layout of this may look sloppy, but please bear with me. It's 2:30am, and I failed to sleep.

Superdrug Pick N Mix Colour Semi Permenant Hair Dye
To thse who know me, it’s no secret that I am a avid user of hair dye. Being 21 years old, I’ve been dying my hair since the age of 13. I love and have used all types of hair dye in the past: Permenant, Semi-Permenant, Wash in wash out. All being different brands. Also, every colour inmaginable. You name a colour, I’ve probably been it at some point or another.
[OVERALL RATING] - 3/5.
[PACKAGING] - 4/5 - Easy to use bottle, could easily wash out dye and reuse for mixing other dyes, etc. Apealing labels.
[SMELL] - 5/5 - One of the best smelling dyes around. Smell doesn’t linger, plus it smells on the fruity side!
[COLOUR] - 2/5 - The colours themselves are lovely, they just don’t last as long as I’d imagine.
[BUY PRODUCT AGAIN?] - Probably not.
[WHERE TO BUY?] - Any Superdrug store local to you.
[DISCLAIMER] - All these are my thoughts, views, and opinions and should be treated as such. I bought the dyes with my own money, as was not paid to do such.
Click ‘keep reading’ to read a full indepth review.
You can imagine my excitment when I popped into Superdrugs and saw that they had begun to sell their own brand semi/non permenant hair dye, in a impresive but limited number of colours. At five pound a bottle - with a offer of buy one get one free, it was an absolute bargin. Very iresistable to refuse. I eagerly picked up a bottle of ‘Coral’, and a bottle of ‘Violet’, both being the most apealing colours to me.
Tumblr media
A few days later is where the magic started. I prepped my hair using a bleach bath mix, as it had been a few months since that last time I’d done my hair. I wanted it to be light as possible to get the best result from the colour dye. After the bleach had done it’s thing, I chose the colour I wanted to be. Very hard decision, but in the end, I went with coral! I uncapped the bottle and was instantlly impressed by the softness of the bottle. It was easy to squeze, and to get out of the bottle. The dye itself was easy to apply, wasn’t too thick, nor too runny. Just the right consistency. I waited half an hour (suggested by the instructions on the back of the bottle) for the dye to set. It was the longest half an hour of my life. The results were looking to be impresive as by the of my hair already, it was as bright as I hoped. Unfortnatly, we can’t rely on our eyes until after the washout process.
Tumblr media
As always, I was so excited to wash the dye out and look at the result. I headed to the bathroom, and threw my head over the bath, turning the shower head on. I used the shower on a cold setting. A little ‘life hack’ I’ve learnt using semi permenant hair dye over the years. I wanted to make sure all the dye was out, so spent a good few minutes going over my hair with the shower head.
I looked in the mirror at my newly dyed hair, and was getting slightly disheartened by how much had ran out during the washout process. I put those thoughts to the back of my mind and put it down to my hair being wet. It was at this point, I decided to blow dry my hair. I used the hairdryer on the lower possible setting due to the useage of bleach earlier on. Overall, I was still disapointed with the results. I had a sutle pastel red colour in my hair. It wasn’t overly bright, but it looked okay. Decent. It took me a good 2-3 hours to decide whether or not I actually liked the result. In the end, I decided to sleep on it. I’d proably get used to it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I woke the next day, and went for a meal with some family members. A great way to show off my new hair colour! I got a few compliments, which made me feels tons better about how it turned out. On the way to meeting my family, I got caught in a heavy downpour of rain. Not once did the colour run from my hair, which was impresive as it was freshly dyed. Slowly, but surely, I was getting used to the colour it had turned. Which was alright as it’d be stuck in my hair for a good few weeks. I returned home in the evening, and decided to get a shower, due to the fact I’ve been caught in the rain earlier on in the day. Fast fowared to after my shower: I was towel drying my hair, and caught a glimpse in the mirror of what looked like blonde. This confused me, as earlier on, my hair was a lovely pastel shade of red. I chose to blow dry my hair, as I was too impatient to let my hair naturally dry overnight. I was shocked and partly devestated to realize that upon my first shower after dying my hair, all the colour had washed out and disapeared! I was so confused, as this had never happened to me before. The usual brand of semi permenant I usually use lasts for at least 3 weeks befoe fading, and even then, it doesn’t run out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was convinced that maybe it was a botched bottle, as mistake, so the day after I grabbed the violet colour I also had purchased and lathered it on to my hair, making sure I had been generous in coverage. I waited an extra 15 minutes ontop of the 30 to make sure the dye could propely set. I repeated the washout process, being slightly impressd with the lilac/silver colour left behind. Again, I blow dryed my hair as I was too impatient to wait on my hair naturally drying. The results weren’t entirely what I expected, but it made an improvment to the blonde mess left behind after the mishap with coral. It was upon blowdrying it that I noticed, my hair has a rather greasy coverage. Which, totally didn’t make sense, as I had literally just showered, didn’t use a great deal of shampoo, nor did I use conditioner.
Tumblr media
I’m not one for greast hair, I can’t deal with it, so decided to have a shower earlier the next morning. Fast fowared again to after my shower. I decided to let my hair naturally dry this time, to give it a break from all the blow drying I had done over the past few days. Slowly, but surely, to my disapointment, I noticed that my hair had turned a white/blonde colour agian. I came to the conclusion that it must be the hair dye I was using.
Tumblr media
Overall, I was not impressed with the Superdrug Pick N Mix hair dye. It just wasn’t for me. It wasn’t overly bad. The colours were spot on to what they’re advertised as, but they just don’t last as long as I’d like to expect. I understand that the bottle advertises 3-10 washes, but the colour didn’t even survive one wash - resulting in disapointment. I feel like this dye should be advertised as a ‘wash in wash out’ dye, rather than non permenant. There is a plus side to this brand though. It you want to dye your hair a certain colour but your school, work place, etc doesn’t allow you to, then you could easily get away with using it on the weekends, days off or school holidays, being reassured that it’ll be washed out by the time you return. Also, if you want to dye your hair, but not sure on the colour you’re going, you could pick a few bottles of Pick N Mix up as a try out. A try before you dye per se. It was fun to test this dye, but I don’t think I’ll be using it again, nor on a regular basis.
