DIY 2- Gem stones hair pin

Instructions

1.Gather your supplies: a U-shaped hair pin, a main stone(pick whatever you want! you can also use a silk flower. I’ve used a hematite butterfly. Go creative!), some pre-drilled smaller stones(I got mine from a coral chip bracelet), some thread and a needle, double-sided foam tape, super glue and a small piece of fabric

2. Thread through your pre-drilled stones with a needle, knot the stones to the thread, leaving a bit of space in between the stones. Repeat until desired length is reached

3. Attach the ‘gem knotted thread’ to the back of the main stone with a few drops of super glue (just to make it extra secure) and double sided tape, covering the back, then peel off the tape’s backing

4. Add a bit of super glue to the u-shaped end of the hairpin, then lay it onto the double sided tape. Cut the same amount of double sided tape and add on top to sandwich the hairpin, then peel of the backing

5. Add a few drops of superglue to the top most layer of the double sided tape, then with the help of e.g. the tip of scissors*, carefully adhere the small fabric piece onto the tape

6. Resist the temptation to try your masterpiece on for 20 mins allowing drying time. Then go rock your classy new hair pin! You’ll be the prettiest in town

*if you’ve unfortunately gotten any superglue on your fingers, immediately add some dish soap on the affected area and rub it in. This little tip has saved my crafty fingers many many times and hopefully it will save yours on one of your rainy crafty days!

DIY 1- Gem Stone Sun Catcher

1.Gather your supplies: pick up a branch, some gem stones (preferably pre-drilled)- a main stone and some smaller stones, a needle and thread, jute string, some tape

2.Thread through your main piece of gem with a needle

3.Knot the threaded gem to the branch

4.For gems that are not pre-drilled, wrap the thread around tightly and secure with sellotape (sellotape works better on smaller stones)

5.After knotting all threaded stones to the branch, knot the two ends of the branch with a piece of jute string of desired length

6.Hang it by the window as a sun catcher or against a blank wall to bring in some style, then admire your masterpiece!
