So you know in scenes when you see a traumatised character singing a deeply relevant song to their situation whilst having a psychotic break? Well why can I see Maedhros whilst recovering from the aftermath of Thangorodrim absolutely breaking down singing "Tomorrow's (Just another Day)" By Madness? I mean the lyrics just resemble his situation so profoundly- "Trying hard I thought I'd done my best All my life I can't get no rest Some who've closed the door Say I can't carry on no more I hear them saying tomorrow's just another day" I envision Fingon and Maglor trying to help him heal but that and the trauma just push him over the edge and he belts this out.... might just be me, thoughts and opinions?

Some of the many thoughts I had whilst reading the Silmarillion:

"What the fuck?!", "you can't be serious", "DON'T DON'T!", "oh dear lord", "hear we go", "you absolute idiot", "Why? Just Why?", "Well I'm now depressed", "Oh I like him (dies) OH F*CKING COME ON", "(another character dies) another bites the dust", "does no one here have a brain cell?", "well maybe it can't get any wor- JESUS WEPT HOLY SH*T!!!"

Dear people of the Silmarillion fandom, I think I saw it in a post before (sorry I cannot find it nor remember the poster), however I shall reiterate. Whenever I read it, I see Melkor/Morgoth looking and sounding like Peter Steele from Type O Negative? Thoughts?

I tell you the pain of trying to explain to my friends, family or ANYONE for that matter of fact that the Silmarillion is basically the friggin Bible behind Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit...

How Middle Earth came to be, the Valar, Eru, how certain creatures came to exist, good versus evil, why an elf spontaneously combusted into flames, a guy who was cursed by basically Satan and then proceeded to have sex with his sister, kinslaying/ genocide, a bucket load of grief, tears and existential crisis for practically all characters involved, and finally, why fighting over three "infinity stones" (as my best friend puts it) caused about half of the above to occur. FOR GODS SAKE THIS IS JUST FROM THE TOP OF MY HEAD!!!

...and all this just to explain why a piece of jewellery needs to be thrown into some lava...

And Dionysus, Euphrosyne and Gelos will all convene

For us to celebrate like the days of yore

We’ll cheer and drink to our hearts content

In a never ending cycle of toasts, dances and giggling,

Without death, despair and devastation triggering.

…But that will only happen when they’ll see, and until then…

Burning of the Ships- Silmarillion

"What I have left behind I count now no loss; needless baggage on the road it has proved. Let those that cursed my name, curse me still, and whine their way back to the cages of the Valar! Let the ships burn!"

I personally am still in two minds about Feanor.

One the one hand, he sent his sons to their deaths (Maedhros deserved better!), as well as ripping them away from his wife, of whom I deeply feel sorry for, causing her immeasurable pain and suffering. That's just his own family and only a bit of it. Then there was the whole kinslaying with the Teleri Elves. All this over some gems.

However, I do not agree with some interpretations that Feanor was wholly a villain, as he the "spirit of fire" felt his emotions on a more deeper level and sometimes (a lot) had troubles putting them at bay and not acting upon them. He loved his father, his sons and his wife, and was not perfect. But does he really deserve as much hate as people give him.

I still do not know. Opinions?
