Loving Natasha was hard. Not particularly because she was a tough person to love, it'd been so incredibly easy to love her. It just never fully clicked in your head that you did, that you were capable of feeling it. You never sought love, because you didn’t know you were capable of it. You liked and cared for things of course, but loved no. When people spoke of love they spoke of this grand feeling that you felt to your very core. You were honestly starting to think people were lying. That was until Natasha. The last year of married life had done something to the both of you. Things became second nature, were there still rough patches? Of course! But that’s how you realized, the rough patches when things got hard for the both of you. When the seemingly infinite rounds of IVF weren’t working, she stayed and held you through the disappointment. And you helped her with her doubts. You stayed when everyone expected you to leave. Sometimes you’d wonder why she’d go. You had to trust she would come back. When she did come back you smiled. “Missed me?” You’d ask every single time. And every single time her eyes would widen before nodding softly.
The physicality of your relationship had never been a problem. Natasha was gorgeous. It was other kinds of intimacy that you both struggled with. Your first year of dating was getting over the hurdle of physical touch. You got by with holding hands, and direct eye contact. The thought made you laugh, all that seemed so far away. “Why are you laughing?” Natasha asked. You smiled. “You really hated holding my hand.” You said chuckling. She scoffed, moving to sit closer to you on the couch. “I did not hate holding your hand!” Your gaze softened meeting hers. “No?” She shook her head. “I just didn’t know how to ask for it. I quite liked holding your hand… We didn’t do it enough.” She settled. You agreed. You sat up and placed your hand between the both of you, she placed hers on top of yours and you smiled. That was the moment you knew. People hadn’t been lying to you. How had it taken you this long to realize? And now here you were dying, and here she was confessing her love for you; you couldn’t even keep your eyes open long enough to look her in the eyes one last time.
Days had passed and you still weren't waking up. Your daughter was looking more and more like you as time went by. It hurt to look at her. Was she going to be her living reminder of you? What if she was the only thing of you she had left? Natasha needed you to wake up and  soon, you wanted no extraordinary measures past a week. She remembered asking you. She regretted not speaking to you about it. One week wasn’t nearly enough, not when it came to you. How could she watch you die? How could she let you slip from her hands? She wasn’t sleeping, and her mind would drift. “One week, and that’s pushing it Tasha…” Your words ran through her mind. “I don’t want to be bound to a bed or a wheelchair. I’m not cut out for it.” Your words seemed hernest. “I will not be a burden to you… or anyone for that matter.” She only nodded pushing aside the eerie feeling your words left her with. “If we're ever in that position, move on with your life. Find someone else and don’t look back.” She decided that she didn’t like hearing you speak like that. She contemplated in silence.
“I don’t think I like that…” She tried to picture a life without you in it in any capacity. You six feet under, she shuddered at the thought. “No?” You said taking a sip from your morning coffee. “I think you’re it for me.” Your face morphed an amused look on your face. “What if I die and you find the love of your life?” Again she shook her head immediately denying the idea. “I’m not looking for love.” You nodded. “What if I die huh? What would you do?” You chuckled at her question. “Would you run off with the love of your life?” The words left a bitter taste in her mouth. “The very next day.” You said very seriously. Natasha's mouth hung open. "I'm joking!!!” You exclaimed as she looked angered. “You’re stuck with me.” You said with a lazy smile on your face. She nodded. “Let's get married.” The words left her mouth before she could think them through. You didn’t react poorly, you weren’t even phased. Only a curious tilt to your head, your eyes trained on her. “Would you like that?” It wasn’t a condescending question at all, just a question. Her shoulders untensed. “I think I would.” She nodded. You walked away before he could get another word out. Moments later you came back, a small box in your hands.
You chuckled. “I knew this would come in handy.” You opened the box. It contained a tasteful ring inside. “My mothers.” You revealed seeing her confused look. “We can get a different one if you don’t like it.” You said taking it out of the box and placing it on the counter before her. She took it in her hands, she shook her head. “This should do…” Slipping it on her finger was kismet, the ring sat perfectly on her finger. “Natasha Romanoff, my wife…” You said out loud testing it out. “I like that.” You settled quickly. You sat in front of her proudly, your eyes on the ring now on her finger. The conversation had been pushed to the very depth of her mind. “You seem proud.” She teased. “I am very much so, I just bagged a hottie.” You said wiggling your eyebrows.
She scoffed playfully. “And what do I get out of all of this?” She questioned. “I happen to bring a lot to the table.” You said. “Like?” Natasha asked truly curious as to how you would answer the question. “Well… Look at me! I’m funny, let’s see I can cook. Uhmmm, a huge trust fund? ” You settled. “I bring a lot to the table actually.” She laughed boisterously. “You are funny.” She said in between laughs. “I am a catch!” You exclaimed a smile on your face. “My catch.” She agreed. You nodded, grumbling. “How big of a trust?” She questioned after a moment. Your brows furrowed. “Big enough to buy you anything your heart pleases.” She scoffed. “RIght…” She said incredulously.
It all seemed so far away. Now looking back was painful, because she’d been blind to her one feeling for so long. How didn’t she realize that she was in love, she’d been in love for a long long time. Long before she even began questioning it. She sighed looking at you. You were still eerily pale. She couldn’t even take solace in your state. It was off putting seeing you in such a state. “You need to wake up.” She said from across the room, willing you to hear her. She sighed, it was worth a try. Then she saw it, you hand twitched. Then everything spun around her. The machine that had been helping you breathed beeped. Doctors rushed in again, and she was ushered out. She couldn’t hear anything else. She was sure people were speaking at her, she had no idea what was being said. This couldn’t be it, could it? No more extensive measures could be taken, you were going to die. She rushed back into the room, she almost fell to her knees at the sight.
Tubes were being pulled out of you. Then she saw, your eyes were open. She cried. “Y/n?” She asked softly. Your eyes found her tears were already building in your eyes. The doctors cleared quickly, they were speaking to her again, she didn’t care to listen to them. Her eyes had found you again, and she was never taking them off you again. She felt like she’d finally regained a missing limb. She felt whole again. She was at your side as soon as the last doctors left. She didn’t know whether to cry, or yell, or just fall to her knees and thank whatever god it was that you’d woken up. You held your hand out to her. She took it before it could fall. “I’m here, I’m here.” She whispered into your hand over and over again. Then she didn’t know how long it had been since she heard your voice. She heard the crackle in your throat and winced. “I’m here.” You managed through gritted teeth. Natasha didn’t waste a moment nodding and moving to bring you water. “Here.” She mumbled softly. You hummed when you’d had enough.
Then as is she would explode if she didn’t let it out. “I love you.” Natasha’s words left her sobbing at your side , her head bowed and pressed against your hand on the bed. Tears ran down your cheeks, your other hand came down on her head, grounding yourself. You couldn’t  bring yourself to repeat the words. Not when you knew what it’d mean. Now suddenly all of the reasons you had to never seek love... They were staring at you both.
Your parents had ingrained in you a truth, one they’d tried so hard to uphold. They failed… it was the only way you could see it. And now you were being tested in a similar way. You would not fail, where they did. It had been a car wreck. Slippery roads was all it took. When you’d woken your mother was at your side. She looked so tired. She’d barely reacted to your startled gasp, when you regained consciousness. The days had passed slowly. “Where’s father?” You’d finally found the courage to ask. Your mother's eyes locked onto you. She’d looked away as if your sight burned her. “He’s asleep…” then after a moment having thought better of her words. “He’s in a coma.” She’d then explained to you what that had meant. You were silent. “He’ll wake up right?” You asked, still reeling from the news. “I don’t know.” Her voice wavered, you’d never heard her voice do it.
You saw the disaster it brought, in the months that came. How’d she’d refused to lose hope, how she’d forgone herself and even you. She was extremely busy, caring for what was left of your father. You came to resent the being that had moved into the guest room in your house. You saw that for what it was. She's fallen in love, she didn’t want to let go and even still in your teens you understood that. “He’s not coming back…” You said one day into the room.  They were the words that had been on the tip of your tongue for years. The courage to speak them building as time went by. You didn’t know what reaction to expect from your mother. It certainly wasn’t blinding rage. “I don’t want to see your face.” She screamed. She’d shipped you off soon after that. You’d received a letter two long years later informing you of your fathers death. You didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
And just like that your things were back in boxes. Moving halfway across the country, like some sort of overpriced furniture. “How was your trip?” Your mother questioned. You would have scoffed, were there any real malice or intention behind the question. But there was nothing, not even mild curiosity. She was a shell. Her eyes dull and sunken in, she’d lost her sharp edge. She looked slightly disheveled. This was not your mother. She was someone else entirely. “I’m tired.” You said, not bothering to make conversation. “Let's head home then.” She didn’t wait for an answer before starting her stride.
The funeral had been arranged perfectly. Well you supposed; you didn’t really get to know your father, not enough to know if he’d like it. Your mothers eyes were dry. There weren’t any more tears to cry, not after years waiting for this moment. The murmurs around you confirmed as much. As for you, you didn’t know what to feel. You hadn’t seen him in years, not truly. You waited, not leaving the seat beside your mother. Not till after the mass, not till everyone left. When it was just you and your mother still lingering. You didn’t know what to expect, but it wasn’t the sight that greeted you. To your own great annoyance, tears burned in your eyes. It wasn’t like he’d actually just died, he’d been gone much longer. A hand landed on your shoulder. For a moment you saw her. The woman you knew, strong a light in the tower leading you. Then her eyes shifted, and she was gone… lost at the sight of him.
You wiped your eyes and led her away.

She was at a crossroads, there was nothing that she could do to stop you from leaving. She hadn’t stopped pacing the room since you left. That's when she saw it… Her saving grace. Maybe if she did this one thing she could at least open the door if not maybe just unlock it, something. At this point that was definitely better than nothing. Your passport and what looked like important papers were left sitting on the kitchen counter. You had left in a furious haze, something was meant to be left behind. You just didn’t think it would be your passport and work visa. That was the one thing that you thought you had in lock, the one thing that you couldn't forget… And you forgot it. Truthfully you knew that something was missing the moment that you stepped into the car with Kate, but you chalked it up to the stress that Wanda had caused.
There was a time that anything that remotely felt like a fight was a no go. You never wanted to fight with Wanda, nothing about arguing with her seemed pleasant. In the beginning it was obvious she was scared and all of it was new. You danced around obvious issues the two of you had. One issue was a rather big one being Vision. It was strange their connection. It was something you knew would have easily gone the other way had you not been in the picture. They understood each other; you felt like the odd man out in your own relationship with her. It wasn’t until you exploded one day that the issue was addressed. Thinking back Wanda should have seen this coming. It almost ended the relationship before it really even began. She was tempted to call you, she really was. But she’d just crossed a very big boundary. Instead she texted Kate.
Her text was read almost immediately the text bubble kept appearing but nothing was sent. Wanda instead sent another message. ‘I’ll meet you at the gate, lose Y/n for a minute and I’ll give you her passport.’ She only received a thumbs up and she was on her way. It was high time Wanda started taking action. She wasn’t going to fail you now.
You were lying. You had no idea where you got the confidence from but it was a complete lie. You loved her so much it hurt. She didn’t read your mind that time and it hurt that she believed you. Tears welled in your eyes, this day wasn’t supposed to go like this. You were supposed to leave peacefully, and now you had no idea what you were doing. She shook you. Wanda came into your life and turned it upside down and now she’s done it again. It was rough. Kate had been fidgety for the past twenty minutes. “Are you okay?” You managed to get the words out. She stilled wide eyed. “Uhm shouldn’t I be asking you that?” You hummed. “Probably… I’m just tired of the same thing over and over again.” You sighed. “There are so many things that I wanted to say. But she was right in front of me and the words disappeared.” Kate nodded, her eyes still fixed on the road.
“Do you think… that uhm you’ll get back together?” She asked the obvious question. It only made your shoulders deflate more. Not because she asked, “It’s not up to me.” but because of how pitiful the answer was. And it was entirely up to her. You hadn't even been able to bring yourself to draft the papers. The fear that she’d actually sign them still managed to keep you up at night. What if she did, what then? “My heart… it aches constantly. Like something was ripped from me.” Kate cleared her throat. “You’re leaving Y/n… You're going abroad for god knows how long.” You nodded. “How else can I show her what she’s doing to me? Years Kate I’ve put up with it for years.” Kate nodded. “I did not suffer in silence, I let her know at every turn how she was compromising us.” Your words were laced with anger and conviction. And so quickly the sadness gave way to raw anger.
Wanda felt she should have thought this entire situation out more. Here she was in her car on her way to the airport, filled with hundreds if not thousands of people. And the most daunting part being that you’re unaware. Her mind was already starting to hold her hostage. She made the treck mostly on autopilot. Then there was the whole getting through security, nothing her powers couldn’t handle. Only she somehow couldn’t. She had not felt this lack of control since ultron, she was tripping where she had learned repeatedly not to. It was overwhelming navigating through the masses of people trying to get to their flights, homes, families. Everyone's thoughts traversed constantly. Eventually and not without struggle she had found Kate, near a coffee shop.
“Finally! I thought you’d make this hard for me.” Kate’s words washed right through her. The only thing she could hear now was an angry ring, mocking her. She shook her head softly trying to dissipate the sound. Then she stilled, she could sense it. Her powers out of pure reflex sought you out. And another pang of sadness ran through her. She’d never been able to sense your anger. A slap in the face a testament as to how unwelcome she truly was. A tug at her arm brought her back. She was clutching your passport in her hand. The folder already in Kate’s possession. Kate sighed. “Are you okay?” She relented and finally asked the question. That seemed to snap her out of whatever trance she was in. She let go of the Passaport like it burned her. Kate noticed her distress and asked again. “My powers… are acting up, I'll be fine.” Kate nodded, not fully convinced.
Kate had decided she’d throw Wanda a life line. She did not think someone could make a change so drastically in a matter of hours. This Wanda that was standing in front of her was not the same one she witnessed yell indignantly at you. This Wanda looked defeated, vulnerable. “She’s still waiting for you…” Kate said. Taking the woman in, and for a moment she wasn’t sure Wanda had heard her. Then tears started rolling down her face. “I don’t think she is…” the words came out tersely and clipped. “She's angry, she has every right to be. That doesn’t change the fact that she’s waiting… so give her time.” Kate sighed, taking a step back. “Fight for her…” She turned on her heel and walked away. Wanda seconds later managed to do the same. Her resolve slowly cemented.
Kate made her way back just as you started looking for her. She looks slightly flushed. Two coffees in hand, a folder tucked in between her arm and torso. Your eyes widened at the sight. “I didn’t even realize I was missing that!” You exclaimed. Taking a cup out of her hand, and the folder at the same time. “Kate, you're a lifesaver.” She nodded, taking a long sip of her drink. Then silence followed, you could have sworn you felt something. It made your heart race. You remembered the familiar feeling. A slight fuzz just out of reach in your mind. You couldn’t help but look around. Could it be, or was it just her lingering in your mind. Then once again Kate brought you back into the present. “Here your boarding group is about to be called.” Kate pulled you up from your seat making toward the line now forming.
Right as your ticket was scanned. She pulled you to the side slightly. “Promise you’re coming back.” You managed a small smile. “I will, I don’t think your mother will keep me away forever.” You joked. Keeping an eye on the people boarding. Kate nodded trying to reassure herself. “You forgot your passport… she brought them here. That's why I was gone for a minute.” Your heart started racing. “I didn’t want to keep it from you.” Then before you could even respond an airline worker was ushering through into the boarding tunnel. The last thing Kate managed to say was for you to call her when you landed.
A/n: Please leave a like if you liked it!!! Late because I completely forgot to schedule. :(

Wanda was at her wits end. She had no idea how you were, and it was driving her crazy. It had been almost three weeks since she walked out. Every day Natasha’s words kept rounding her mind. What would’ve happened if she hadn’t walked out, if she for once truly fought for you. That and you avoiding Natasha wasn’t helping her. Kate had been a lost cause she was your friend not hers. She felt like everything was going wrong and her teammates’ lingering looks didn’t help. She was living in the compound full time once again. She’d stare at your contact in her phone fighting herself on whether or not to text or call it all seemed so trivial. “You need to stop doing that.” Natasha has been her constant shadow since she unofficially moved back in. “I can’t help it. I-i need to know whether or not she’s okay…” Natasha shook her head. “It’s too late to ask yourself that question, you can’t ask her now that she’s not available to tell you.” Natasha tried not being too harsh but there was still reality. “If anything truly goes awry, Kate would let us know.”

Going back to California the following semester was harder than you imagined. You’d grown accustomed to being near your parents and Tony again. It was a big adjustment leaving them once more, and somehow it felt bigger than last year. Then again you were actually excited to leave at that point. “Come on Y/n!!! Your flight leaves in a couple of hours. You can’t miss it again.” You groaned and nodded. You’ve been ready for the past five hours. You were just waiting to leave. “I get it mom. I’m not missing this flight.” Your mother and father had been very accommodating the last couple of months. “You will feel better once you get back into your routine.” She encouraged. You smiled. “I know... I’m just going to miss you guys.” You said softly. “We miss you around here too but you’ve got your whole life ahead of you.” You nodded. Your mother knew everything now and she was grateful that you’d finally found the way to speak to her. “You don’t have to see her if you’re not ready.” She said this time with confidence. She didn’t dislike Natasha, but you were her daughter, and anyone who made you cry was immediately on her shortlist. “I don’t want to get into it right now…” You said finally gathering your things from your room.
Natasha had returned to California sooner than she had expected, she couldn’t handle the pitiful looks her family would give her any time they crossed paths. Given they currently all slept under the same roof it happened often. When she finally exploded and managed to ask her family what was wrong with them, you’d come up. “We just... we just don’t know what to say to you.” She sighed. “And you haven’t said anything, we’ve heard the Maximoff boy passed, and you haven’t said anything.” Alexi said exasperated. Clearly, he was troubled, and as much as Melina tried to keep a straight face Natasha could tell it was eating at her too. Yelena on the other hand had an annoyed look on her face. “She’s screwed up somehow…” She said it like it was obvious. Natasha glared at the younger girl. “Come on!!! Y/n’s friend died and even now y/n can’t even look at her.” The words hurt to hear, but ultimately her sister was right. “Those kinds of things bring people together…” She mumbled going back to picking at her food. Natasha managed to swallow the lump in her throat and nodded. “She’s angry at me right now. Things weren’t going well, and then everything with Pietro happened… and I made a mistake.” She sighed, her feelings finally catching up with her. “A big mistake, one that I can’t take back.”
She flew to California two weeks before she had to go...
Being back now, things felt very different this time around. Your excessive partying was under control, no more drinking on random Tuesday nights, and more focusing on your school work. Your visits back home were more and more frequent, and you liked it. It was peaceful back home and spending time with Tony and Peter was always a good time. Yelena would hang out every once in a while things were awkward, as you still weren’t on speaking terms with her sister, but she didn’t push it so you were grateful. There were still moments of grief, your mind still couldn’t wrap around how he could be gone. It still managed to keep you up on long nights. But overall you’d actually managed to make more friends which you honestly thought was a miracle. Who would’ve thought that having a healthy social life could lead to that? Your sorority sisters were also not half bad; they were lovely girls who were very relatable. Things were good, you weren’t going to lie. That was until you managed to find yourself at a soccer sporting event your college was hosting. You thought things would be fine, nothing could go wrong. That was until you realized who was actually playing in this game. A friendly game between Berkeley and Stanford.
There’s a lot of people you thought, no way she spots you. Wrong, you were incredibly wrong. Your friends had snagged the closest seats to the pitch that they could. “Y/n you alright? Is something wrong?” You’d heard your new friend Kate ask from beside you. You swallowed lightly and nodded. “My ex, or ex-friend is on the other team.” You managed to explain. Kate immediately jumped into action. “Y/n we can leave right now, If I’d known I wouldn’t have suggested coming.” She was stumbling over her words and the things she’s started gathering at this point you chuckled lightly. “It’s fine, and no we aren’t leaving. Our outing does not have to be ruined. I’m sure everything will be fine.”
Everything was not fine.
Twenty minutes into the game you’d already heard Natasha’s name more than you cared to. Kate noticed the grimace every time so she took it into her hands quite literally. You were startled as you felt her arm wrap around you. Then suddenly all sounds were muffled. You smiled at the girl's attempt to make the situation better. “You don’t have to do that.” You chuckled. “Nonsense I shall remedy the situation.” You laughed, you could still hear everything but it was the thought that counts. You hadn’t really realized the implications of seeing Natasha and her team. As they scored goals you managed to catch their celebrations and some interactions. You weren’t proud of the feeling but you were jealous. You couldn’t help but hope the players would trip the other girl. Your eyes were plastered on the bold letters on the back of her shirt “HILL” Suddenly you weren’t jealous, just angry. A blinding rage, conveniently the taunting chants had started to pick up in the stands and your shouts were very much welcomed and even expected.
Kate was flabbergasted. Your mood had miraculously picked up, but still, she felt somewhat relieved. That was until one corner kick where an all too familiar redhead was now walking towards. A clear view of you and Kate with her arm still around you. The look sent her way was not one she’d normally receive, she picked up on the context embarrassingly late. Too late to just remove her arm. She was the Ex. Unconsciously her arm squeezed you. “Please don’t tell me that is her.” The girl said leaning into your ear. You simply nodded. After that interaction, the mood was detrimentally brought down. So much so that the both of you walked out mid-game not speaking a word. Once you were both out you sighed. “I’m sorry I shouldn’t have made you stay.” You shook your head. “You didn’t know. Plus I had fun for a while back there.” Kate sighed. “I just you’ve been through a lot these past couple of months. I wanted to distract you for a little while.” She explained her hands moved as she spoke. “And somehow I managed to drag you right back in the middle of it.” You laughed. “Somethings just can’t be avoided.”
You both walked off to a bench near the stadium. “What happened with her?” She asked curiously. You sighed. It was complicated… you’d tried to justify it in any way you really could. “She cheated when everything with Pietro was happening.” Kate couldn’t hide the shock. You nodded letting her take it in. “I wanted to come back and fix things with her and I found her In bed with someone else that happens to be her team captain.” Kate nodded. “Let's go back to your place and you can tell me everything.” You smiled. “Only if you buy pizza!” She smiled and quickly nodded.
You find yourself sprawled on your couch and telling Kate everything that has happened since senior year. Re-living the hardest moments Kate hugged you. “It must have been a hard loss. I’m sorry you went through it alone.” Her words hit you. And tears start rolling down your cheeks. “It just all happened so fast it was like a dream.” You sighed. “Then I was at a funeral holding my ex-best friend's hand through it all.” You wiped your tears. “And then she didn’t need me anymore, sent me on my way…” Sadness was an emotion you’d become well acquainted with. “Then I came back here, and the girl I was currently seeing…”
You took another slice of pizza. “I am sad.” You settled. Sobs started raking through you before you could stop them. Kate’s arm settled around you softly pulling you in. “And I’m so, so, so unbelievably angry.” The slice was now forgotten. “At Natasha, and Wanda, and most of all Pietro.” You sobbed. “No one was there for you?” You shook your head. Of course, they were, Tony and Pepper were more than happy to speak with you. Your parents had tried to help you to the best of their ability. “Everything was just so fresh, and then life kept going and I kept rolling with it.” Kate hummed, rubbing your arm. “And now I just feel empty all the time.” You sighed pulling away. “I wake up and it's the same thing as the day before, and everything just still doesn’t feel real.” Kate nodded, moving to wipe your tears away. “I wish I had the right words for you.” She sounded conflicted. “But I can offer my support, and whenever you need me I’ll be here.”
A loud knock resonated in your apartment. You sighed. “It’s probably my neighbor.” You spoke softly. As soon as you opened the door it was pushed in. “What the…” The sight before you was ethereal. There she was still in her uniform, her braids disheveled. Sweat clinging to her skin. That was as far as you got when she noticed your tear-stained face. Your puffy eyes. You saw when her eyes landed on Kate. You saw the fire in her eyes, the determination as she charged Kate. You were almost too shocked to move… almost. “What did you do to her!” She pointed an accusing finger, at the girl. Who to her detriment only opened and closed her mouth like a fish out of water. Guilty written all over her face. It almost happened too fast, Kate however did have a survival instinct it seemed. Managing to place herself behind you. “Y/n please explain…” She mumbled into your ear. Natasha’s eyes were locked on Kate faltering at the closeness with you. “What are you doing here Natasha?” You asked, not sure if you wanted to hear the answer.
Her fists were clenched at her side, and her breaths were shallow. “I wanted to speak to you.” She said matter of factly. “So you barge into my apartment, and threaten my friend?” Your words came out more cutting than you thought they would. “I think you should leave.” You feel Kate grasp your hand keeping you from moving. You didn’t take another step. The hurt that flashed on Natasha’s face made your heart clench. She slowly nodded, moving towards the door. She managed to walk out. “Wait here.” You ordered Kate as you quickly ran out. She was still in the hallway, her head leaning on the wall banging softly against it. The soft click of the door pulled her out of her thoughts. Then for the first time in months, you stood in front of the girl. Nobody and nothing in between the two of you. You almost felt relief, there was still a silent comfort in the girl's presence. She inhaled slowly. “I can’t…” She started, her emotions were catching up to her. “I can’t… Keep going on like this.” She wiped the tears that were beginning to roll down her cheeks.
“I can’t not have you in my life Y/n.” You closed your eyes at her words. “I didn’t come all the way back from Russia to not be in your life.” She said her exasperation shining through. She stepped closer to you, her lips ghosting yours. “I know I made a mistake.” You let out a shaky breath at the proximity. It took everything in you not to give in to push it further. “We were about to break up…” You murmured softly. “You were about to break up with me…” You let your words hang in the silence. “We weren't working.” You settled, and finally took a step back. The tears that had subsided earlier came back with a vengeance. “And then… you left me alone. To go through one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to endure.” You sighed. “If it were me in your position… that wouldn’t have happened.” You settled finally letting the words you wanted to say out. She closed her eyes knowing your words held true, you’d done as much for Wanda. Even after months of not speaking to her. She didn’t even have to ask. “You threw it in my face, Natasha…” She nodded. You cleared your throat. “I’m not the one who slept with someone else.” You shuffled further away from her. “We were basically broken up.” You rubbed your temples. “Still…” You mumbled hurt flashing in your eyes.
She flinched at the words coming out of your mouth. “It was a mistake.” She was completely aware of how pathetic her words sounded. “One, and now…” She looked to the door behind you. “Please, we were friends before we were anything else.” You sighed. “My friend would have showed up when Pietro died.” Your tears were blurring your vision, and you harshly wiped them away. “Those were your choices, Natasha.” You sighed. “I am trying my hardest to forgive you, not for sleeping with someone else, but for leaving me alone.” You scoffed. “I’m trying to be here for you now.” She looked genuine, and you nodded. “Too late.” Your tears stopped, and you were left with only an empty feeling. You looked at her, her shoulders were slumped. Her eyes were downcast, defeated. You relented. “Next time don’t bang on my door, don’t threaten my friends, don’t barge into my home… you have no right to.” You weren’t looking at her. You didn’t let her speak either. “We’re not talking about it, about him… nothing will happen between you and me.” You took a deep breath in. You turned slowly back to the door and walked in. You sighed when the door clicked behind you.
Kate immediately rushed you. “Are you okay?” She was inspecting you. “Did she hurt you? What did she say? I can take her!” You chuckled at the thought. “I’m sure you’d try.” You assured her. “No, she didn’t hurt me… I’m sorry she charged you.” You apologized to the girl. “No, no It’s okay I’m glad I was here. I feel better because you aren’t alone.” She squeezed your shoulder. “What did you tell her?” She asked after a beat. You sighed deflating, and leaned into her hold on you. “I told her I’d give her a chance as friends… nothing more.” You mumbled into her chest. She chuckled. “You’re holding out on her?” She questioned. “Noo, yes… I don’t know. She looked so hot…” You confessed, and Kate laughed, fully and unabashedly. “I agree, It was hot when she yelled at me like she did.” You huffed out a breath. “I know.” She hummed fully pulling you into her arms. “Want to get drunk and forget about your problems?” You nodded softly.
The night was spent like that. Drinking the cheap alcohol you had still lying around your apartment. Which looking back was a horrible idea. You confirmed as much when you woke up naked next to the girl, still snoring softly beside you. Then immediately after the pounding in your head wanted to be noticed you groaned. “Jesus.” You all but yelled. “Be quiet please.” Kate shuffled beside you. “You’re up?” You questioned, you kept your eyes closed, you weren’t sure why but you did. “I’ve been up, my head hurts when I move. We drank too much.” She settled. “I’d say so.” You could barely remember ending up in bed with her. The more you tried the more the memories flashed in your head. “Last night?” You asked and she hummed. “No strings…” She said after a beat. “Good.” You sighed somewhat relieved. “Don’t sound too relieved, I’m a catch.” She almost sounded offended. You chuckled. “I’m sorry, I mean… Darnnn it.” You let her chuckle. “We’re still friends, right? It’s not going to be awkward?” She moved her hand to hold yours. “I’m a big girl, you are too. I’m sure we can handle casual sex.” You nodded.
You could not handle casual sex with Kate. It’d been a week and you were still avoiding the girl. It was harder than you originally thought, more so when you realized you ran in the same circles. You could not go a single evening without hearing the girl's name. Then you’d run into the other single person you didn’t feel ready to see. “Nat?” You questioned as you were walking out of your class. She looked hopeful when her eyes landed on you. You missed her eyes. You shook your head softly pushing the thought aside. “What are you doing here?” She cleared her throat softly. “I was calling… uhm but you weren’t picking up.” You then hit yourself on the head. “I’m sorry… I got a...” You were going to lie but you decided against it. “Nope, sorry I forgot I blocked you.” She raised her brow. “Well, I came to look for you. I didn’t know your classes, and since you said not to barge into your apartment. I figured I'd find you if I lingered here long enough.” You were about to reply when you heard the voice of a girl behind you.
“Are you done avoiding me?” Kate asked, her hand reaching out to turn you to face her. “I’ve been busy Kate, I’m not avoiding you.” You winced. Your eyes widened, motioning to the girl now behind you. She shifted slightly to get a better look at her. She quickly moved back to face you, nodding along with you. “Well, you know me, can’t go more than a day without hearing from you.” She shrugged and you put your head on your hand. Natasha cleared her throat behind you. You turned to face her again. “Natasha this is Kate, Kate this is Natasha.” You introduced them both. “Good to finally properly meet you.” Kate extended her hand. Natasha’s jaw clenched but she still nodded along, extending her hand to greet the girl. “Likewise.” She forced a smile for the girl. “Ok, well I’ll leave you to it.” She said, stepping away. She then looked at you, her eyes pleading. “Call me, please.” You nodded softly. “I will.”
“That’s new…” Natasha murmured as you both watched Kate walk away, stumbling through everyone on her path. You sighed. “I told you not to harass my friends.” You said not looking at her. “Your friend… right.” You scoffed. “Natasha… We are not doing this.” You left no room for discussion. She sobered at your tone and sighed letting out a soft breath. “I’m sorry.” You nodded. “Why are you here?” You asked after a beat of silence. “Well, I uhm… I wanted to invite you to lunch.” You hummed. “I’m free.” You said walking ahead of her. She scrambled to catch up to you. The walk was rather silent. The small cafe you walked to had grown on you after many visits. “Y/n!” The barista greeted you after you walked in. “Hey!” You waved enthusiastically, soon after looking for a suitable table. “Do you come here often?” You heard Natasha ask. You nodded. “I like that it’s empty most of the time.” You explained. “How have you been?” You watched as the question slipped out of her mouth. You watched as she braced. “Hello, what can I get for you both today?”
You’d never been more grateful for an interruption. You smiled at the girl you’d come to know over the past months. “Claire Hi, Uhm I’d like my usual no coffee today though juice will do.” She nodded, jotting it down. She then turned to Natasha whose eyes were already trained on the woman. “I’ll have what she’s having.” She said with a deadpan look on her face. Claire nodded looking between the two of you, she looked back at you. You gave her a tight smile. “I’ll see you at the rally later?” She decided to ask after a beat. “Yes.” You answered swiftly. Then again as she was about to walk away she stopped in her tracks. “Kate’s been asking for you.” She probed again. You grimaced, nodding along. “Yes, I just spoke to her.” Claire nodded. “Good.” She said simply this time, thankfully actually walking away. “Where were we?” You turned back to Natasha, who now sported an annoyed look on her face.
“I asked how you were.” She stated again this time with no hesitation in her question. You, equally as annoyed, answered her question. “The brunt of it has passed Natasha. I am fine.” She flinched at your words. “I-I didn’t mean it like that.” You hummed. “I did.” You said looking down at your hands. “If you are worried, you shouldn't be.” When your food was delivered there was another stretch of silence. Claire this time seemed to notice the tension and cleared away quickly. “I do worry.” She said softly. “Natasha, it’s too late for you to worry.” You settled. “I needed you when the pain was so unbearable it hurt to breathe. Even after everything, when I came back… Had you come home, come to me?” You held your fork tightly in your hand. “I needed my best friend, not my girlfriend.” Natasha took your blunt words in stride. “You worrying now does nothing for me.” You settled. Natasha nodded. “How have you been?” You asked after a beat, it only seemed fair. “Be honest.” You added after you watched her hesitate. “Lonely.” She settled after a minute.
You nodded. “Still studying 24/7 I see?” You asked, attempting to lighten the mood even if only slightly. She hummed. “That and practice.” You nodded your mind flashing to Maria. You swallowed down the feeling. “You still partying?” She asked casually, still picking at her food. You shook your head. “It’s not really a sustainable practice.” You said chuckling. “I’ve made a lot of good friends, now that I’m sober at sorority events.” You said. Natasha actually laughed at that. “Who would’ve thought?” She asked rhetorically. “Not me, that's for sure.” You sighed. “Did you win the game last weekend?” She nodded softly. “I scored twice.” She said pulling out two fingers. You smiled… She’d won the game and right after went looking for you. “Why are you lonely then?” You asked after a beat, not understanding. “I just haven’t really been able to make friends.” You nodded. “You should come to my birthday party.”
Famous last words.
“I would love to!”

“Why’d you do it then?” The question hung in the air. It was a tough subject. There was too much hanging on that answer. But she didn’t seem to falter. She’d thought about that moment as much as you had apparently. “Because you wouldn’t have done it. So I told you to leave, you were building something real. And it took me a while to realize, but so was I.” Wanda’s words were well thought out and you hated to admit it, but she was right. “You built an amazing family Wanda, your boy’s are beautiful.” The twins brought something out in her, it was amazing to watch the pure love and adoration in her eyes as she watched them. “Thank you, they are amazing aren't they?” You nodded a small smile already forming on your face. “I wouldn’t have left.” You admitted. “Thank you for that.” You said, a bittersweet feeling passing through you both.
New years was just another day for you, your mother and father had made plans abroad already, and it was too late for you to prepare for such a trip. You spent that new year alone, well not really but, It felt like it. Tony’s New years party was packed this year full with rowdy college kids who also looked as dorky and entitled as Tony. He however had Pepper at his side. You were relieved when Tony mentioned that Natasha had declined his invitation so you had one thing off your mind. Well not really it was all you could think of it plagued you, and having her there would only positively make it worse. “Why are you such a Debbie downer?” Tony was now very drunk and he was slurring lightly. “No reason really, it’s just my whole world being upside down.” He scoffs in your face. “You’r girlfriend broke up with you Boo fucking hooo. There are worse things that can happen to you.” The jab was direct and right on the money. “Fuck you too Tony. It’s not just that and you know it.” He shook his head. “I don’t you both refuse to talk about it, and you both think that you are the wronged party in the situation so I actually don't know.”
You sighed in relief when you saw Pepper walking towards the both of you. “And you won't find out today.” Him and made quick work of the exchange. You handed Tony off to Pepper and she gave you a grateful look before you left towards the door. You saw the last person you wanted to see in that very moment, Natasha’s car was pulling into her driveway. You would have closed the door and walked back into the house if you weren’t positive she’d made eye contact with you. You toughed it out and made the short walk to your house watching as Natasha not so subtly stole glances in your direction. You’d made it to your steps when you heard her call out. “Happy New year Y/n.” You wanted to cry, your eyes already burned and your throat felt tight. You nodded. “Happy New year…” Your voice came out clipped and you saw her face falter. You turned and made your way inside when you felt the burning in your eyes intensify. Was this what you were reduced to? Pleasantries that aren’t genuine. Before you could shut the door properly the door was stopped.
When you turned to check what it was, it was a very familiar boot. “Can we not?” You asked, your voice sounding urged. “Why are you acting like this? I- Did I really mean that little?” Your anger burned. “I came back and you were gone!” You stated. “Did I mean anything to you then?” Your pain was raw and she could feel that. “You left Y/n, you left first, you left for her.” You nodded. “I did! And I would do it again Natasha. If you don’t know that about me by now then you don’t know me.” It was starting to dawn on Natasha that she might not be on the right side of this argument. But she's never been the one to back down so instead she doubled down. “I know that you were a love sick puppy following her around even if it hurt you.” You were yelling at each other by now. “She was family before she was anything else.” Your words were clear and concise, anger seeping through every syllable. “My friend, my brother died! And when I came back the one person I wanted to see was gone.” Natasha’s anger was now replaced by guilt. She was now trying to back track but she couldn’t. “And where were you?” You asked, looking right through her.
Your voice cracked and your tears were hot on your cheeks. Her presence was burning your skin, her voice was making your head pound. You couldn’t hold it back anymore. “That’s right! You were letting someone else fuck you.” You cried even more tears reliving the memory. You’d rushed to Natasha's apartment, hoping to work things out hoping to just hear her voice even if she kicked you out, and slammed the door in your face. You knocked out of courtesy but when you didn’t get a response you’d use your key, she'd given them to you after all. The sight that greeted you was not pleasant. Clothes were thrown haphazardly around the apartment, the general destination being Natasha’s bedroom. The sounds coming from the room were all the confirmation you needed. “So you tell me, how much did I mean to you then?” Her words were gone. Her anger was gone. But you were just getting started. Or so she thought,
“Leave…” You said through tears and the anger still bubbling in your chest. Natasha panicked and said the only thing that came to mind. “No.” It was not that she realized that your eyes were on the ground. “I can’t even look at you…” Your words were pained.
Pietro had passed not long after you’d gotten to the hospital. Your main job was to hold Wanda's broken pieces together. She’d crumbled when the Doctors gave her the news. You saw a piece of her die that very moment. Your embrace was grounding her, you still remember how she clawed at your arms, the very ground she was standing on was taken out from under her and you were her only life line, keeping her from disappearing into the nothingness. You remember the shock that ran through her in waves. You remember her parents walking into the hospital barely holding themselves together for their daughter. Everything was really a blur after they got there. You remember being in a car next to Wanda who’s hand lived in your shaky grip. “I'm here…” You whispered when she moved to hold you.
It was a mistake, something that Natasha shouldn't have let happen. It was a mistake, one that you’d never find out about. She cared for you not Maria, she loved you. But you were nowhere to be found. Your apartment remained untouched, and every night that passed since she has regretted her words. It was driving her crazy, not hearing from you. Her mind would race with thoughts, fueled by her own guilty conscience. What if this was it for you, what if this was what made you realize that your place wasn’t with her but with Wanda. What if this was the sign that you were waiting for. She did hear about Pietro’s passing from Yelena who seemed worried. “She’s here, Why aren’t you?” Yelena was good at reading situations, but this time she was utterly stumped. Natasha didn’t answer her question. It was a long two months that had passed by and still not a single word from you. She’d called and texted, she’d even emailed but nothing seemed to get through. Maybe you had thought better about it, maybe it was for the best.
“Y/n/…” Her whisper was just about enough to get you crying again. “I came back to you.” Your words sounded cold. “You were supposed to be different.” You said. “And now I can't look at you without remembering the worst moments of my life. I can’t.” You sounded defeated. “You can’t feel that way forever…” Natasha whispered, trying to catch your eyes. You shook your head. “I won’t, but I am right now and I can't help it. Who was it, did I know them?” Your question left her stunned for another moment, her throat suddenly dry. “Maria…” She knew that wasn’t going to fair well but she figured being honest about it would make it easier to get it out of the way now. Because even now in this moment she knew this wasn’t going to be the end of it. You’d heard her name before and you had seen her on occasion when you’d attend Natasha’s games, you knew her.
“Leave…” It came out harsher than you expected but it was the only thing you could do. But Natasha she just had to know, she needed to know. “Did… Did you and Wanda…” The words were quiet, too quiet. The look on your face said it all, she shouldn’t have asked. “Would it be easier for you if I had… It would, wouldn't it? It would make you feel so much better.” You shook your head. Finally managing to get her though the door you closed the door and this time she let you.
You cried that night, you cried a lot thinking about everything that happened and how you would deal with it. You couldn't, you didn’t know where to start. This was no longer about just you, it was about everything. You’d just lost Pietro, and Natasha too. And Wanda didn’t want you near her at least not anymore. You could still hear her words echo through you. “You need to leave.” She’d said it a couple of days after Pietro's funeral. You’d spent the two weeks leading up to it practically glued to her side. “Excuse me…” You were making her some tea. She hadn’t been up to the task of sleeping, so you were making tea. “I think it’s time that you go.” She said again looking at her hands. When her eyes met yours she could see the surprise in them. “It’s no problem Wanda. I squared everything away with my professors, they understand.”  She cut you off again when you tried to explain further. “No, Y/n it’s time for you to go.” This time her words were harsher.
That’s when it clicked… She didn’t want you there anymore. She didn’t need you there anymore. You nodded. “I’m always a phone call away…” You said quietly. When you started making your way around the counter her hand reached out to yours. Her eyes were watering. “Leave tomorrow…” You swallowed the lump in your throat and nodded. She’d hugged you so tightly that night, but you didn’t mention it. As awful as it sounded, you wanted your last moments together to be just that. Neither of you slept that night, when the sun began to shine through her blinds her hold on you loosened. The exchange was quiet, it was now you that was gripping her close to you. “It’s time.” She whispered. You nodded, holding her a moment longer. “Goodbye Wands.” You’d let her go then. The nickname caught her off guard. By the time she came back you were already walking out and closing her bedroom door.

What happened to routine? Are you gonna finish it?
Heyyy anon
Routine has been a work in progress mostly because I don't know how it should end, well more so how to get there. Most of my works end up being longer than expected and this one is not the exception. To answer your question yes, it is going to be finished; when I don't know.
Hope you're well, have s great day!!!
(I'll try to get an update out by the end of the month. Posting this to hold myself accountable.)

Kate Bishop x Fem! Reader
Word Count: 3133 aprox
A/n: Hello everyone!!! This is a little story I've been toying with for a while. I think I've finally gotten it to a place where its not complete trash. I hope you guys enjoy it! If you did please let me know leave a like!
Tumblr media
Bishop security was big, there was no denying it. Both Eleanor and Kate had good things going for them. The younger bishop however had no interest in her mother’s achievements. She loved her mother, but if she was at any event that had anything to do with bishop security,  it was because of pure obligation. She hadn’t yet succumbed to the weight of the legacy her mother was building for her. “Oh come on y/n” And there it was, her and her incessant complaining. “Let’s just leave, no one will notice.” You laughed at her statement. “No one will miss you!” You said chuckling. She gasped feigning offense. “What it’s true! You’ve never stuck around, so people don’t expect you to.” She nodded smugly trying to prove her point. “Unlike you people expect me to show up.” She grumbled. “I know what I need to do to fulfill my role, Kate. I’ll have to step up sooner or later.” She sighs loudly. “You sound just like my mother.” It made you laugh. “Well, maybe you should listen to her from time to time.” She didn’t laugh.
“You know that I’ll never be that.” She picked at her fingers. “I’m never going to be that.” It was your turn to bite your tongue. “Clint and I just barely started making progress, real progress!” you flinched at the mention of the name. You sympathized with Kate she was your best friend how could you not? But sometimes that’s what it meant to be a good friend—keeping your friends from the wrong paths. All she was doing was denying her reality. “I get all of that but all you’ve really been doing is putting yourself in danger.” She huffed already knowing where you were going. “You’re going to get yourself killed in some obscure and tragic way! And I’ll never be able to get over it.”
This wasn’t the first time you and Kate had this conversation and you can already see the irritation building in her. “Can’t you just be happy that I’m doing what I love? That I’d die doing what I love!” How she said it irked you, and her insinuation made that annoyance triple. She’d realized her mistake as soon as the words came out of her mouth and saw your features falter. “Do you even realize how that sounds? You sound like some privileged adrenaline junkie that has nothing better to do with their life.” As much as your words had stung Kate realized she’d pushed you over the edge and took the brunt of the jab. Taking a deep breath, she collected her thoughts. “Look I didn’t mean it, not…” You cut her off, a peeved expression still on your face. “Don’t bother we both know you meant what you said.”
“I’m sure it’ll bring your mom so much comfort knowing you died, well at least she died doing what she loved!” You scoffed. You both knew loss you both knew grief, so it didn’t make sense how she could be so careless about her life! “Whatever, you should leave I’m not stopping you.” You left Kate fumbling for words. And moved to your designated seat the gala was barely getting started and you had many people to greet and talk to. You shook your head when you managed to catch Eleanor’s eye. You watch as she pursed her lips and nodded dismissively. She walked towards you pulling you into a quick hug. “Thank you for giving her a fight but, you don’t have to. I know it’s hard on you.” She said sympathetically. You nodded and gave her a small smile, Kate lingered in your mind for the rest of your night.
Days had passed and you hadn’t reached out to Kate. You wish it could be that easy, but when it came down to Kate it was always so hard to put down the the pride. She knew it as well as you did. Hence why she hadn’t done it either. Eleanor however had other plans it seemed she called late for a very early impromptu meeting. You agreed somewhat apprehensively. You were surprised when you didn’t see Kate in the waiting room the surprise didn’t last long. You were called into her office rather quickly. You watched as Eleanor stood from her desk ready to greet you. “Y/n, so happy you could make it!” You moved to greet her and returned the hug she offered. “Me too… uhm” you couldn’t hide the confusion. “I just thought Kate was going to be here. She nods smiling. “She did mention a disagreement… fight.” She corrected. “Unfortunately Kate is obsessed with that man and the Avengers.” You nodded. “I’ve tried Mrs.Bishop I just can’t dissuade her.” Another smile spreads on her face.
“I know Y/n, you won’t have to worry about that much longer.” Her words confuse you, she can tell. “I only mean that everything will fall into place.” She rephrased. You nodded. “Well now on to why you’re here.” You nod. There’s a knock at the door. “Your ten o’clock is here would you like me to tell her to wait?” Eleanor shook her head. “Send her in.” You move to leave her office but her hand stops you in your tracks. “This is why I called.” A small oh leave your mouth and you sit back down. “Y/n this is Yelena, she’s the daughter of a board member she is in town for the holidays, and needs someone to show her around.” You smile and greet the girl. “I told them Kate would show her around but seeing as my daughter… well I thought who better than y/n.” You smile at her consideration. She turns to Yelena. “Y/n she’s like my second daughter. You couldn’t be in better hands.” Yelena smiles. “I can believe it.” Her subtle accent makes you smile.
Eleanor moves back to her desk. “Well, girls I’ll let you go, have fun.” You smile and wave goodbye. Before you completely manage to walk out the door you hear her call out. “Y/n I’ll handle Kate, don’t hold it against her.” You falter at her words, but you still nod. As soon as you’re out you look at the girl next to you and smile. “So what would you like to see first?” She laughs. “That’s why I’m here, for you to show me around!” You laugh. “Okay, okay I know exactly where to take you.” She smiles and nods. “Please, lead the way.”
It had been three days since, and Kate still hadn’t reached out and you weren't necessarily itching to do it. “I ordered pizza, hope you don’t mind.” Yelena interrupted your inner thoughts. You chuckled shaking your head. “It’s perfect I was getting hungry.” She smiled and plopped down next to you. You and Yelena had hit it off and had been inseparable the last couple of days. You were laughing at the TV when you were interrupted by a knock on the door. Yelena jumped to open the door exited the pizza had finally gotten there. It’s only when she doesn’t immediately close the door that you move to see what the hold-up was. “So you’re not the pizza delivery?” You hear Yelena’s confused voice. “What are you doing here Kate?” She shuffles a little before answering your question. “Well we didn’t really leave on good terms last time we saw each other, and I was coming to talk things out.” Then her eyes shift to Yelena in front of you. “But uhm… I can see that you’re busy, and we can talk about this later.” Her eyes are still on Yelena. Before you could even put the words together Yelena beat you to it. “Yes, that's probably for the best.” She said glancing back at you. “Here’s the money for the pizza thanks.” She took the pizza and walked into the apartment leaving you at the door.
You can see the questions in Kate's eyes and you just shake your head. “We should talk soon, tomorrow?” Kate nodded and walked off. You closed the door softly and sighed. It was for the best that you didn’t talk to Kate right at that moment you didn’t even know what to say. You walked towards the kitchen and sat in front of Yelena at the table. “Now that was more interesting than everything you showed me.” She teased, and it made you laugh. “By far 10/10 would recommend it again, I mean the tension… off the charts!” You scoffed. “We went to all the places you wanted to see! I took you to all the stupid tourist places!” She laughed at that “I have to say you were an amazing tour guide.” She cheesed. “I’m guessing that’s Kate?” You nod taking a bite of your pizza, humming at the taste. “She doesn’t look like a walking death wish… I actually don’t know what I expected.” And just like that Yelena moved on. “Movies?” You smiled grateful for her tact.
Kate's mind was reeling, who was that woman, and why did she look so comfortable in your apartment? She was too distracted by the idea that she failed to notice her mother waiting at her door. “Kate I’ve been waiting for you!” She said cheerfully. Her eyes sparkled. Kate tried to match her mother’s smile but failed. “I’m sorry I swung by y/n’s place like you said. You know to talk things over… She had company.” Her mother tapped her forehead. “I forgot I had y/n and Yelena meet up! I’m glad that they hit it off!” Kate was flabbergasted. “You set y/n up, why?” Her mother shook her head in denial. “I did not set her up! I just had a feeling that they would hit it off.” Kate could not believe the words coming from her mother’s mouth. Anger started to creep in. “And what feeling was that exactly?” Her mother paid no mind to her thinly veiled anger. “That they would get along y/n is a good girl and someone like Yelena would be good for her.” She reasoned. Kate swore she saw red.
“So you did set her up!” Her tone was now raised and clipped. “Kate I didn’t tell her to sleep with the girl if that’s what you’re asking!” Kate felt a pang in her chest. “Now my question is why you’re so upset about it?” Kate scoffed. “Now that is something I’m very interested in.” She ignored Kate’s indignation. “I’m not!” She said defensively. “I just think it is odd that you are meddling in her love life.” It wasn’t just about that. Everything about you being with that woman felt wrong, fundamentally. “Well, it shouldn’t she is practically my daughter, one who by the way listens and actually uses my advice!” Kate scoffed. “We both know why that is.” Kate spat. She regretted the words as soon as she said them. She had a habit of not thinking things through. Her mother winced her eye twitching not giving in to the obvious provocation. “I know you, you will hurt her…” Kate’s eyes widened. Her throat suddenly dry she sputtered trying to find the words. “Y/n and I… we- we haven’t…”
“No, you haven’t, and it should stay that way.” Kate was again left speechless. Her mother continued. “Y/n holds a very important position in our board of investors, I’d rather keep things clean and uncomplicated.” She punctuated. “To keep her on my side.” Her tone was clinical. Kate scoffed. “It is clear that she won’t make you choose. So I will.” Then suddenly the air was pulled out of her chest. “You’ll lose her either way! Do you truly believe y/n will stick around to watch you throw your life away!” Her mother spoke, Kate had never seen her mother like this. “You have no right to do this! This is my life!” Her mother shook her head. “That’s where you’re wrong the moment you decided to put your life in danger, was the moment that as your mother I decided to step in! I have every right…” Kate was pacing at this point. Her fingers were on her temples. “So you’re making me choose?” Eleanor nodded. Kate scoffed calling her mother’s bluff. “You don’t have that kind of power, not over me not over y/n .” Her mother sighed. “Maybe I do, maybe I don’t. Why don’t we find out?” With that, the older woman walked away from her. Her words left Kate cold. She shook the thought away you wouldn’t play into her mother’s hand, would you?
The thought continued to eat at Kate the following days. It had been three days now that you had pushed your meet up. Three days that felt like weeks to her. Her mother was using you against her in the worst way possible. She knew, how she felt and still felt comfortable putting her in that position. She was not going to let it slide any longer. She was at your door again her fist raised to knock on your door. Only this time she didn’t have to, it opened before her hand could touch the wood. “Oh, Kate!” Your tone surprised. “Are- were you going somewhere?” Kate stuttered. “To find you actually…” you said a small smile playing on your lips. Kate’s heart fluttered in her chest, nodding as you let her walk in and get settled. “Can we talk?” Kate’s tone was soft but serious. You nodded softly. Kate sighed relieved. Just as she was about to speak you beat her to it. “I’m sorry.” Kate froze. What? “I’ve realized I can’t force you to stop doing things, even if I really want to I just can’t.” Your words were sincere. Kate was at a loss for words. She wasn’t going to mention it but she was ready to have it out with you again. She had prepared for it even, she was slightly disappointed about that. “Yelena pointed out to me that I was being a shitty friend, and she was right.” You just had to keep speaking… Just like that, she was annoyed again. “Who- who even is she?” Kate asked probing your response. “Uhm your mom didn’t tell you?” You questioned. Kate shook her head. “Your mom introduced us, she’s also going to be a part of the board.”
It was only then that she reasoned her mother was not bluffing. This made too much sense. Having you and Yelena in her pocket would work out for her mother. She hated to say it but it was a smart move. Kate managed a small “cool” as she ruminated on the thought. “You two have gotten very close.” She wasn’t asking you realized. You nodded. “She’s a good person.” Kate almost scoffed. “One could argue I’m a better person! I could save the world one day.” She said smugly. “That’s if you don’t get yourself killed before then, sure.” The reply was waiting to come out she realized, and she grimaced. Kate backtracked. “How about a movie?” She reasoned and you couldn’t deny her, you did miss her. “I have time for one.” You said glancing at your watch. She smiled and got comfortable on your couch laying her head on your lap. She sighed all was right again. Truth be told Kate paid no mind to the movie once your fingers started running through her hair she knew there was no point in trying to keep up. Then you had to open your pretty mouth. “Kate I have to go.” The credits were now rolling on the screen. “Kate come on I really do… you can come with if you’d like?” She was eager to. “Where to?” She questioned. “Yelena wanted to volunteer at a soup kitchen… she saw it in a movie and wanted to do it.”
There was a look of what you could only say was pure dissatisfaction. Your answer was not something she liked in the least bit. You’re both interrupted by Kate’s ringing phone. “Clint” you hear her mutter getting up from your lap and walking a short distance away. When she turns back your shoes are on and keys in your hand ready to leave. An expectant look on your face. “I- uhm duty calls.” She said uncertainly pointing to her phone. “Figured…” a displeased look on your face, which did not go unnoticed. Before she could address it you were halfway to the door. “Let yourself out, I’m going to be late! Lock up…” She could only watch as you did. You stopped suddenly at the now open door. “Be careful.” She couldn’t even reply you stepped out and closed the door behind you. You were gone again.
The following days were rough on Kate. Dealing with the ever-growing problem with Clint, fighting, and training. On top of that dealing with her mother, she was having a hard time compensating. Most grueling of all you were giving her the cold shoulder. Her mother had been directly working against her on that front, so she wasn’t too surprised. She however should’ve known her mother was willing to take it further. You were too nice to completely blow off Kate. So here you both were having family dinner with her mother. “You know y/n Yelena has spoken very highly of you, her father was very pleased to hear it!” You smiled softly your cheeks dusting a shade of pink. All of which didn’t go unnoticed. “She’s fun to hang out with, she gets me… shares my work ethic. She’s ambitious like few are these days.” Eleanor’s eyes shift to Kate a brow raised knowingly. “That is so good to hear y/n!”
The following words made Kate seethe internally cursing her mother. “You know y/n now that I think about it… Your parents met at around your age.” She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. “Mom…” Kate cut in. “I think you are right,” you said ignoring Kate’s interruption. Eleanor chuckles taking a small sip from her wine turning her attention back to her daughter. “They would make a cute couple, don’t you think Kate?” Her mother was not holding back, she was not willing to play into her hand. Still, she replied. “Y/n would make a cute couple with literally anyone… Put her next to the ugliest person on earth and she’d cancel out the ugly.” You chuckled at her thought. “Thanks, Kate.” Kate froze for a second you’d acknowledged her. She shook her head. “But Y/n barely knows this girl. She should take her time.” And somehow you were still smiling. “I am… taking my time.” Your eyes were far away. Perhaps your thoughts as well.
A/n: Surprise shawty!!! Happy New Year. This has been sitting in the drafts for a hot minute, please let me know If y’all liked and would like to see a second installment. Abstract Love ii
Part 1 Master List Natasha Romanoff x Fem! Shiled Agent Reader Word Count: 1693 aprrox A/N: Hello! I know this is not one of my bigger series update but this one was the one I was most exited to continue. I am currently working on the third part for this one as well. It should be done soon hopefully. (If I can keep the motivation.)
Tumblr media
When you started seeing Natasha you realized something very quickly…She was a runner. It was sometimes harsh, but you married her at the end of the day. It became your thing early on, she would run, and you would let her. It was happening again, but there was something very different about this time. Marriage hadn’t kept you on the same side of the accords. “You’re leaving.” It wasn’t a question, just a statement. “Would it even make a difference?” Things had been turbulent and living under the same roof as her had become difficult. She let the question hang in the air. Her mind wondered if this was how you felt every time she left. Helpless and scared. “You know it would, I care for you.” Her voice was soft, but determined. You nodded. As much as you didn’t want to your emotions were starting to get the best of you. So you took a deep breath. “I’ve let you go…” (So many times) Natasha was reading between the lines. She gulped. “I’m asking you to do the same… I’ll be fine.” You said finally meeting her gaze. “You will be too…”
Natasha couldn’t believe she’d put you in this position more times than she was willing to admit. You closed the duffle and moved to leave the room. “Please… Just wait.” She moved out of your way but her words stopped you. You waited a beat then two. “Are you coming back… to me?” Her voice trembled. She had no right to ask, you never had. You trusted she would, but she needed to hear it. And it killed her that she never did tell you she would come back. “If you let me leave…” She had unconsciously moved to stand between you and the door. Natasha's head tilted in frustration. That wasn’t the answer she was looking for. “Yes.” Your eyes met hers fully and she felt your determination. She stepped away from the door. As you were walking out the door she spoke up one last time. “Just remember I’ve always got your back.” She shut the door softly behind you. Tears had started rolling down her cheeks and she couldn’t let you see her like that.
It had been three months. Three months in which everything had gone to hell with the team and with you. You weren’t present at the fight in Germany, her eyes searched for you when the showdown happened. Steve was the first to notice her questioning look. He just shook his head. That fight had been so grueling, not physically but mentally. Watching her closest friends fight pitted against each other by outside forces. It was only when she watched Tony close in on Steve and Bucky, that she realized you were right. It wasn’t worth the fight with each other. She let them escape and shortly after made her escape. She was finally going after you, it was embarrassing how she didn’t realize before. She had barely spent time in your shared home since you’d left if she had she’d have found you much, much sooner. It took her another month to find, the pregnancy test. You’d fallen off the radar leaving a small trail of breadcrumbs just for her to follow.
It only gave her hope, you were waiting for her. You knew it was her the moment you heard the sequence being knocked on the door. The relief you felt was indescribable, it felt like breathing fresh air for the first time, after being underwater for so long. You couldn’t help but smile. You took your time to answer the door. “Why didn’t you tell me?” You didn’t answer the question. Instead, you let her in your new apartment, She couldn’t help but take the place in, the air it smelt like you, like home. “It took you long enough to find me, to come here.” You gestured and sat on a kitchen stool. Her eyes finally took you in. When her eyes landed on your bump she didn’t move them. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Her eyes bore into yours now. You sighed, taking her in as well. You looked down ashamed fidgeting with your hands, you managed to look back at her.  Like you didn’t just see at her, you saw her. You tilted your head. “Because you would’ve run…” You sighed softly taking a deep breath.
The words hit her like a ton of bricks. When she did find it in her to put together the words you cut her off again. “And I would’ve…” The tears in your eyes were building. You shook your head putting together the words. “I don’t think… No, I wouldn’t find it in me to forgive you.” She hated how coherent your argument was. And, How grateful she was that you’d given her a fighting chance, that you knew her like you did. Tears started rolling down her cheeks. Her eyes gravitating to your bump her whole body itching to touch you. “It’s a healthy baby, It’s our healthy baby.”She smiled her hands finally reaching for your bump.
Things had drastically shifted after that. Every following moment and every interaction after felt more precious. You seemed to share the sentiment you’d rarely spend time without her, you wanted her around you at all times. Even when she’d inevitably get on your last nerve you still wanted her next to you. She was enjoying the new dynamic, she wasn’t exactly a fan of being away from you. She’d come to realize that the hard way. She’d enjoy the clinging however long she got it, the pregnancy hormones were so far working in her favor. “I’m going to shower if you want to join or sit in.” She called out from the hallway. You stood up as quickly as your body would allow. “I already showered…” You said as you finally managed to stand. “I’ll keep you company.” Natasha smiled. It wasn’t just a partnership anymore. You wanted her company. Natasha loved it, she loves you. She took two more steps faltering at the third. She loves you? “Why’d you stop?” She heard you close the distance between the two of you. A big smile on her face when she turned to see you. “I was waiting for you.” She said simply. Your cheeks flushed a small smile gracing your face. “Cool…”
And now as she stands here, she can’t help the thought. She should’ve told you earlier. She should've told you the moment she realized. Now everything was moving so quickly, a flurry of people rushing you out the door. She couldn’t help but scoff at the irony, she was arguably one of the most adept people in and out of combat, but now in this moment, she was completely lost… Helpless. She could only watch the door you were just rushed out of. “They’re doing everything that they can. She’s in good hands.” Steve's voice brought her out of her thoughts. She watched as he walked into the now-empty room. (Empty because you weren’t there.) Natasha managed to get everyone together despite the tension everyone came together. And she can’t help but laugh at the irony, you’d told her before things when to complete shit.
“Natasha we can’t keep having this argument!” You sighed tired of her jabs. “I’m not arguing with you, I’m right you’re wrong.” (She was arguing with you) “You’re impossible! This is not what I signed up for.” The sincerity of your words stopped her in her tracks. “You can’t walk away because of this!” Natasha piped up. “You don’t see me giving you shit because you signed the accords without talking to me, on national fucking television. Where you almost fucking died too.” She sighed. “I didn’t think you’d oppose.” She said truthfully. “Well, I do… Oppose.” She groaned. “Well, what would you have had me do?” You moved to stand in front of her. “Stay out of it. Now there's no coming back from that signature.” She was silent. “You just betrayed half of our closest friend’s people we consider family.” Natasha knew what she had done, she knew what that signature meant. She also knew your loyalties started and ended with Steve, his righteous moral compass similar to yours.
“I know what you're thinking. This has nothing to do with Steve not how you think it does.” Natasha would be surprised but she knew you, and you knew her. “They’ve all got their heads so far up their asses, that they can't see that this won't end well. They won't realize until one of them… Until it's too late.” You sighed. “They’re only going to realize until someone ends up dead.” Your words weighed on Natasha. The thought honestly was the furthest thing from her mind, but by the second becoming more plausible. “I’m not singing… You won't change my mind, I’m not sorry.” As much as she wanted to say she saw reason she couldn’t if anything it only further spurred her. You left a week after that conversation.
“I’m scared.” She let out softly. What would happen if she lost you forever this time? Tony rushed into the room. “I’ve made sure Y/n’s got the best of the best in there with her.” What would she do with your daughter, You were the best thing she could give her. Natasha Romanoff was not a good mother, you were. “Don’t lose hope…” Tony said looking at Natasha's unresponsive state. Six hours, it had been six hours and they were still working on you. Natasha could swear her heart stopped when she saw the doctors walking out the swinging door. Everyone rushed to stand Natasha being the first one. Her ears were deaf to the lengthy explanations the doctors were giving. Too caught up with the fact they didn’t come out and say ‘Sorry for your loss we did everything we could.’ What she did manage to hear was the last part before they dispersed leaving only one doctor behind. “She’s out of danger for the time being.”
The words flew out of her mouth interrupting the doctor. “Can I see her?”

Abstract Love
Mini Series
Natasha Romanoff x Fem! Shield Agent Reader
Word Count: 1378
A/N: An angsty Nat piece, sorry. (Not really) This one will have a second installment, so watch out for that. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy! See you soon!
Tumblr media
Your Parents always set an example… Maybe it wasn’t always the right one. But nonetheless they set an example. You realized early on that something was off about your parents the way that they interacted with each other. Affection was always scarce in your home, you saw how your peers’ relationships blossomed into something more. Relationships that mirrored those they grew up with. Once you were old enough to understand, or what they deemed old enough they broke your bubble. “Y/n a marriage like ours isn’t founded on love. Love is not the goal, love is obsolete if you don’t respect each other. Love can blind you as to who is really standing there in front of you.” It had been ingrained in you, and soon you grew to agree. You revolve your entire existence around that piece of advice that your parents left you with. Eventually all of your relationships fell through and no one seemed to share your ideologies. Which was honestly baffling. You worked at S.H.I.E.L.D for god’s sake.

I hope you're liking the story so far. let me know in the comments I'd appreciate it.
Tumblr media

Reader ;) (High school Au ) No Powers Word count: 1904 A/n: Things are starting to get serious. I am trusting the process, everything will fall into place, hopefully. I hope you peeps enjoy the story so far I appreciated you all. Some love to the annon that sent me a message. (U know who you are <3)
Tumblr media
Your first year of college was rather uneventful. Well that's what you liked to tell people, but in all honesty it was absolutely horrible. You and Natasha had entered this new chapter of your lives together and on the same page. You couldn't help but feel that by the end of the first semester you guys were reading two completely different books. Natasha was a go-getter she was impeccably amazing at everything she decided to put her mind to. She had chosen a very demanding Law major and on top of that she would give her all to train and practice to be the best. You didn't choose the easiest major, but it was lax compared to Natasha's 3 hours worth of reading each night. Business management was something that you felt somewhat passionate about. Your father had a somewhat large company that he built from the ground up. And you were fond of the idea of picking up the mantle when your time came. But you also had fun, a lot of fun.
Once your mother found out you would be attending UCLA she made sure that you got everything in order to pledge to her old sorority. You'd never been the type to think that you would try out let alone fit in and thoroughly enjoy being a part of. You only pledged to your mothers old sorority and once the fact that you were a legacy came up you were welcomed with relatively open arms. "How's pledge week going, please tell me you're not being hazed by some weak blonde bimbo." Natasha said as you walked into your apartment. "No... I'm being hazed by a hot blond bimbo." You joked, chuckling at Natasha's disgruntled look. "Not cool.." She huffed "People don't do that anymore, but I think that I really like it there." She smiled. "I'm glad that we’re both finding our place." She said walking towards you and engulfing you in a tight hug and giving you a chaste kiss on the lips.
That would be one of the last moments you had with her that didn't end up with the both of you fighting. You absolutely hated having arguments with her but the universe just seemed to want to pull you apart. Freshman year was a year of discovery, you learn a lot about yourself and your limits unfortunately sometimes you can get caught up in all that freedom to grow and and honestly lack of adult supervision. You'd become an avid party goer and maybe a tad bit of an alcoholic. Natasha was busy most days, her schedule was packed and you couldn't complain all the contrary you admired her dedication. But the lack of seeing each other was creating friction because when she could see and spend time with you, you were at a party or hungover, or busy yourself trying to catch up with school work. "We can't keep going like this Y/n what's happening to us?" Your tears were muted, you felt her sadness and yours. This was only going one place and you both knew it.
Natasha was having a hard time. It took a long while for her to adjust to not being near her family, then it took her even longer to adjust to being with you in this new phase of her life. School was stress inducing to say the least of course she had things under control but that didn't mean she didn't stress all the contrary she only had it under control because she stressed. Soccer was as good as it could get. She only really pushed herself so hard because it relieved some of the stress she was feeling. All of her teammates were likable and trust worthy. There was one teammate in particular though that she could really see as a good friend and that would be Maria Hill, team captain. She had taken Natasha under her wing and taught her the ropes. There was something more there and she could feel it. A small wince or a clench of the jaw every time she mentioned you. There was something there and it was driving Natasha crazy. She'd promised Wanda and herself she wouldn't hurt you, and here she was considering it.
It always came down to Wanda didn't it.
"I-i Natasha, maybe we should..." Your phone rang in your pocket with the last number you'd think would call you. It was Pietro, you were shocked to say the least. "I think that I should take this..." You motioned to the phone in your hand. Natasha nodded, wiping a tear from her eye too busy trying to compose herself to notice who was calling. "Is this Y/n's number? " The voice on the other end sounded unfamiliar. "Yes, I'm sorry but who is this and why are you calling from my friend's phone?" The person on the other end sighed. "Um, Y/n It's me Vision. Listen, you might want to take a seat or something." Your heart rate picked up and your shoulders tensed. Natasha noticed and she herself began to brace. "Pietro he um, he's been in an accident Y/n." Your heart ached, your hand moved to your chest, tears immediately welling in your eyes. "It's not looking good." His voice was heavy with sorrow. "She told me to call you..." Your heart broke at that, Wanda. "I'll get the next flight out, I'll be there as soon as I can. Please keep me updated." You urged. "I will just please come."
The line dropped and your eyes finally met Natasha's. "Pietro's had a- He's been in an accident." You barely managed to get out. Natasha tried to step forward with her arms reaching for you. You moved back, your mind still reeling with what was about to come out of your mouth before you answered that phone, and the phone call itself. "I need to call Tony, He'll get me there in no time." Natasha's surprise was thinly veiled. "Y/n you're in the middle of the most important part of the semester, finals are around the corner, you can't just up and leave." Your eyes pierced hers. "I can, and I will. My friend could very well be dead right now." Calling him that felt wrong, he was more than a friend, sure things were rocky after Wanda. But you still cared immensely for him. You left her standing there in the tense silence you'd created. You dialed Tony he answered on the first ring. "Finally, my jet's waiting for you and Nat." You winced at her mention. "Just me, I'll be on the plane within the hour." Natasha drove you to the hangar, the drive was silent. It was uncomfortable, but you appreciated her being somewhat reasonable and not bringing up your conversation right now.
"I'll let you know what happens when I land." You said when you'd finally pulled up to the plane. "I think maybe you shouldn't." She said quietly, her eyes on the ground in front of you. You scoffed out a laugh, wiping the tears in your eyes. You nodded. "Noted, Goodbye" You didn't give her a chance to reply boarding the plane as quickly as possible. That flight was the longest four hours of your life. You weren't mad at Natasha you'd seen this coming just not like this. Never like this. It hurt but It would've hurt more if you'd both waited until it was too late. Tony was there when you landed . He gave you a crushing hug, which you returned. "What happened?" You asked, your voice breaking slightly. "Pietro was hit by a drunk driver on his motorcycle." You winced. "He's still in surgery. They're trying to stop all the internal bleeding." You nodded already trying to steady and strengthen yourself. Either way it was going to be hard. "Wanda, how is she?" In any eventuality it would be a lot to deal with. "No one thought this would happen, you never think something like this is coming." You only nodded. The drive there again was incredibly silent.
Your eyes searched frantically for her, you definitely looked worse for wear no sleep and a prior maybe relationship break up was definitely taking a toll on you. When your eyes landed on her you knew she needed this... you. She looked pale, her eyes were dull, she was a ghost. You didn't look or feel any better but you knew she definitely was feeling it. Vision saw you first and quickly motioned you into the seat next to her.  He didn't bother stopping you for a greeting, he just let you be. Seating next to her was overwhelming to say the least, she still hadn't knocked out of her mind. Only thing you could think of doing was reaching for her hand. When you finally built the courage to, you reached out for her, her head barely turned to acknowledge you, but when she did it was almost an immediate her reaction. It was like the dam had finally broken and her breathing was erratic and her tears were overflowing. You pulled her up with you and into you. You put as much force as you could into the hug until she calmed down. You were just holding her. "It's not a dream..." She said into your chest.
Your eyes watered. "It's not, but everything is going to be alright. Pietro is strong, he'll pull through." She nodded. "He has to be okay, You're here. He has to be okay." You could only hold her tighter.
Something had changed when you went back to California. Your apartment felt empty, it didn’t feel the same. It was hard to pinpoint at first but then you noticed it. Her things that were always somehow splayed in your apartment were gone. Even the most mundane things that she’d leave there were gone. Her drawer and closet space were empty. That’s when the dread came back. She'd left…
Christmas was as bleak as it could be, it felt wrong to feel happy. You kept your word and celebrated with your parents. There wasn’t much to do, you and Tony spent a lot of time together during the month you had off of school. Surprisingly you survived and passed the semester. Things were grim, and Tony respected your space and left it alone as much as he could. Which meant that you third wheeled Tony and Pepper for the better part of a month. You avoided any and all contact with the Romanoff’s and they seemed to understand. Well all but one. “I told you not to fuck up.” You sighed. You were currently trying to open your front door. “I didn’t.” It angered you that she was letting this narrative run. You turned to look at her. “I came back, and she was gone.” You were about to continue when you heard the steps coming up behind Yelena. “I told you not to bother her.” Her voice washed over you like a bucket of cold water.
Yelena was about to argue with her but quickly shut up when she met Natasha’s gaze. You didn’t bother shifting your gaze from your keys. Instead, you choose to turn and finish opening your door. You could hear Yelena talking from behind you. “You’re just going to let her walk away like that?” You closed the door before Natasha could answer, but you still managed to hear what she said. “Yes…”

Remember a Time X
Series:  (Pt.1), (P.t 2), (P.t 3), (P.t 4), (P.t 5), (P.t 6), (P.t 7), (P.t 8), (P.t 9) Wanda Maximoff x Fem! Reader, Natasha Romanoff x Fem! One should be up next week I mean it this time It's done just needs editing. Anyways hope you enjoy I'm really trying to get past this writers block, thanks for being patient <3
Tumblr media
There was officially only two months left till you moved to California, and time felt like it was flying. Both you and Natasha had been apartment hunting, unfortunately you couldn't find a suitable apparent for the two of you, so you both opted to search for apartments individually. You were bummed at the beginning but soon realized that it would facilitate things for the both of you. More so your dad knocked some well needed sense into your head. As much as he liked Natasha things could end badly and then you'd both be stuck in a bad situation. It was for the best you had decided. "You know, I'm basically going to be living with you on the weekends and when I don't have class. We survived being a continent away. We'll survive a couple of miles." You nodded confidently, agreeing with her. "I'll survive. Not sure you will, with your horrible cooking skills." You jabbed.
She laughed, but then the reality set in. She wouldn't have her mothers cooking, and now she wouldn't have yours which paled in comparison to Melina's. But yours was still better than hers. "That's actually so unsettling. What am I going to do? I can't cook I'll actually somehow poison myself." You chuckled lightly. "I'll just have to teach you the basics, you know nothing compared to Melina's cooking but you know the basics." She smiled somewhat relieved at the prospect of you teaching her to cook. Melina had tried many times throughout her daughter's life, but she simply gave up. Her patience wore out and Natasha couldn’t blame her for that. "I would actually really appreciate that." You nodded. "Well in that case, every day till we move at the end of the day we'll practice." You shook on it. Other preparations had to be made, but mostly everything that you could handle was done. Your parents had actually already gone out ahead of time to set up your apartment with all the things you'd need to live comfortably. Your parents only really wanted you to focus on the academics of it all and for you to enjoy yourself in the process.
"Natasha we're two weeks into this!" You exclaimed when you looked into the pan only to see the 'scrambled eggs'. "What's wrong with them this time?" She asked, frustrated. "They're going to be really crunchy nat." You said, you could visibly see pieces of shell sticking out. "That's just personal preference, I happen to like my eggs crunchy." You laughed. "You didn't burn them this time so we're making progress. I'm proud." You started looking at her sweetly. "Do I get rewarded for this 'progress'?" She asked teasingly, tilting her head a small smirk on her face. You pretended to think about it. You rushed and kissed her, and before she could really think about it you started peppering her face with small kisses. With one final peck of the lips you smiled softly. "If this is what I get for progress, I'll start practicing all the time." She joked clearly, still flustered. "You'll get a nice surprise when you serve me a thoroughly cooked piece of chicken." You wiggled your eyebrows suggestively. At that Natasha did manage to laugh.
Although you wanted to, you couldn't spend every waking moment with Natasha. So you and Tony would be found making future plans and arrangements. "We have to do Christmas again like last year." He said fondly. You smiled and nodded. "Let's do New Year's. I kinda actually want to spend this Christmas with our families." You were thinking and planning for your future self. "I think I'm really going to miss my folks when I'm gone." You said. "Not me, I couldn't get away from them any faster." He teased, and you laughed, Tony always had a good poker face. But, you know deep down he's going to miss his [arents too although he would be seeing his more often than you would.. "But your choice if you want to do a family Christmas this year that's what we'll do." You almost laughed at the change of tone. "You know I think Pietro is doing a thing later today If you want to go with." You only shook your head. "Come on Y/n piet's been bugging me. He just wants to spend some time with you. He misses you." Before you could say anything again he interrupted you. "It'll only be you and him. If you want me to, I'll stick around. Just, he's your friend too." You sighed. "You're right. I can't just run away from it because it's complicated." Tony nodded. "As much as I don't like his sister right now, he's not a bad guy." The thought escaped Tony's mouth before he could think it through. “You know you really like to meddle in my life.” He laughed. “Well someone has to, if I don't do it who will?”
The mere possibility that you’d have to face Wanda again almost had you drive away from the house you’d become very familiar with. You didn't know what to feel anymore. Wanda was not objectively horrible you knew that, but you also knew that you would very likely end up hating her if you stayed by her side. You’re knocked out of your thoughts when the passenger door of your car pops open. "You didn't tell her right?" The words flew out of your mouth before you could even think to stop them. "She's not here, you don't have to worry." He said simply. "Where do you want to go?" You asked. He thought about it for a while. "We can just drive. I don't really want to do this with a bunch of people around."  You nodded and managed to drive a decent while before he spoke again. “You and Wanda have put me in an impossible position. It’s hard for me because I see the two of you and it makes me sad. How things managed to get so out of hand I don’t know.” You listened and managed to articulate the words. “I will never make you choose…” He nodded. “I know, but I need you to understand that I couldn’t if you asked, even if Wanda asked.”
You smiled slightly. “I care for you both, and I sympathize with you. So please don’t write me off. You’re my sister too.” You felt lighter by the time you dropped him off, a full tank of gas later. "I think we should do this more often." He said before he stepped out of the car. You laughed nodding along with him. "I'm sure we can find the time before we leave..." Behind you, you saw headlights pull up. Both you and Pietro tensed slightly, before breaking out into laughter. You felt like you'd been caught with your hand in the cookie jar. You could tell it was Vision's car, but you couldn't really be bothered, you'd had a good time with Pietro and It was all that mattered. "You better step out before either of them start walking up to my car." You threatened playfully. "What? You aren't going to walk me to the door and kiss me goodnight?" He pouted referencing when you’d play house as kids. You laughed. "You'd like that wouldn't you!" You settled and placed a small peck on his cheek. "There, that should hold you over for the time being." He nodded. "I'll see you around y/n?" You nodded. And with that he stepped out and you stepped on the gas.
Not that you had to, Wanda had already exited Vision's car, She was now expectantly waiting for her brother to walk through the door. As soon as the door knob turned she was on her brother. “Why didn’t you tell me Y/n was coming over?” He sighed. “Because she doesn’t want to see you, If I’d told you, you would’ve stuck around.” He tried moving past his sister but she stopped him again. “How is she? Is she okay, what did you guys do?” She asked the questions one after the next. “Good, yes, and we talked.” He listed off. “I told her I wasn’t going to choose sides or anything of the sort.” Wanda was about to rebute but he managed to cut her off before she did. “I don’t get you Wanda, I know you.” He said. “I know you love her, I know it! And you somehow got us here.” His words caught her off guard. “She loved you, and you loved her. Why are we here?” She sighed. “I didn’t know, I-i didn’t realize. I freaked when Tony said what he said at the party.” He nodded. “There's no turning back now.” He squeezed her shoulder pulling her in. “Give her time, it will work out. I know it will.” Wanda nodded, the weight of it settling on her shoulders. She released a shaky breath. “She’s with Natasha… Natasha loves her.” Her eyes met her brothers. He nodded. “You’re with Vision, things will fall into place. The universe works in mysterious ways haven't you heard?” He said, pulling his sister into a warm hug.
When you got home that night you weren’t expecting what was waiting for you when you crossed the door. It was almost as if the universe was showing you what was for you. There were roses lining the hallway, and an amazing smell coming from your kitchen. Where she was wearing a beautiful apron, and a rather large bouquet or roses on the dinner table that was already set and ready to go. It had been only a couple of weeks since Natasha had made the world's crunchiest eggs. And here she was, full on dinner made by her you were assuming. “I was waiting for you.” She said taking a kitchen towel to wipe her hands. “Not too long I hope… Did you do all this.” You asked somewhat awestruck. She nodded. “I’ve submitted myself to my mothers cooking school again, because I wanted to do this for you, I wanted to make you proud.” You couldn’t help but smile. “What did you make?” That’s when you saw her smile turn to a smirk. “Roasted chicken, and some potatoes which, if I do say so, are amazing.” You almost choked on air.
Everything about that night was perfect. She was perfect and she made you feel perfect. Dinner was all you could hope for, and afterwards a promise was a promise. “Are you sure you want to do this?” She’s asked for the umpteenth time. “Undoubtedly sure.” You spent that night in her arms, kissing her and it was perfect. It was everything you imagined, she was everything you imagined. Waking up next to her this time made you feel like you should wake up next to her forever. So you said it, quietly but surely. “I want to wake up next to you forever.” Natasha was asleep. At least that’s what you thought, she didn’t make any sudden movement and her breath was steady enough, you were sure she was asleep. That was until she spoke. “I think I would like that…” She brought your hand to her mouth and placed a small kiss on it. “No, I would love it.” She amended. You wanted to cry at how good she was, how good she was with you. Everything was good there in your bubble.

Wanda Maximoff x Fem! Reader, Natasha Romanoff x Fem! Reader ;)
(High school Au ) No Powers
Word count: 2218
A/N: Here is another installment I hope you guys like it. I’m slowly getting back into writing. I’ll see you next time hopefully with an update for Misunderstanding the Assignment!
Tumblr media
“What do you see when you look at me?” It was a simple yet loaded question. There was so much to see… Wanda had always been more than what the eye could see. There was too much context lost trying to explain it all in words. The good, the bad. The white, the black, the gray. You couldn’t look at her… that's why she asked. You settled for a simple answer. “Everything.” Time has passed and put your promise to the test. You showed up, but neither of you were the same. Maybe too much time had passed, but life as cruel as it was found a way to bring you both back into each other's life. “You’ve always known me better than everyone, even myself.” She was stating a fact that you weren’t sure was true anymore. “Stop looking away…” You couldn’t look at her because if you did start looking at her you weren’t sure you could stop. But she was Wanda… It wasn’t long before your eyes met hers. The first time in 10 years you let yourself fall into Her green eyes.
Wanda had this time obliged your request and from there on time started flying by. Prom came and soon enough you were sitting next to Natasha, her head on your shoulder. “This has been a very fun night.” You nodded. You didn't expect prom to go the way that it did. You'd envisioned things a little differently. But you couldn't complain Natasha was next to you all night and dancing with her was amazing. Wanda was there but she made herself scarce, You were thankful. You saw very little of her that night. Natasha knew that something had happened between the two of you, you didn’t tell her anything. Weirdly enough it didn’t feel right telling her. Natasha was swaying and tripping on herself so you took her to sit at a table. “I think you had enough of that punch” you chuckled. You saw Tony then Pietro spike the punch. “How about I take you home…” She was contemplating your offer. “Did she change your mind?” It wasn’t a reproach, just a question asked in a drunken stupor. “No…” There was no need to lie if anything what had happened steeled your resolve. “Then yes, you may take me home.” As easy-going that answer was, you saw that relief flood her body. You hated that you made her feel like that but all you could do was reassure her. You didn’t speak after that, you just made your way back home in silence. Natasha was out and in bed before you could even say goodbye.
Yelena caught you on your way out. Well more so she was waiting for you cornering you if you will. “I may hate Natasha with every fiber of my being, but she is my sister.” She started not leaving any room for you to interrupt her. “Do you see what I’m getting at?” You nodded. “If you ever treat her wrong Y/n I will have no qualms in committing murder.” You were scared more so because she was being completely honest. “I like you Y/n, so I’m asking you not to mess up here.” You nodded. “I promise you to do good by Natasha.” She seemed pleased with your answer and started retreating. “And Yelena… I like you too.” She didn’t bother looking back. “Yeah of course you do what's not to like.” You chuckled and made your way back to your house. Tony was waiting for you sitting on your front door steps. “Can you believe that We made it?” You immediately recognized this not often seen side of Tony. You sit down next to him and lay your head on his shoulder. You sigh and interlock your arm around his.
“If I'm being completely honest, no I can’t.” He nods. “How’d we even get here?” You noticed the far away look in his eyes. He sighed and spoke his thoughts “It feels like a dream.” It was your turn to nod, there was no other way to explain what you were feeling. “I didn’t think we’d make it past fifth grade…” He was referring to your friendship. Tony was never a loner he always had friends, but fifth grade was a difficult year for him consequently for you too. “You were such a dick.” You conceded “You were forgetting about me…” He confessed quietly. You pulled away and saw the tears brimming his eyes. “That’s not even remotely true.” You assure him. “But, you were. I didn’t like how that felt so I made sure you didn’t.” You let him keep talking. “Wanda became so Important… And I want you to move on and be happy I do, but you leaving feels a lot like that.” You took a moment and turned to him. “I cannot physically forget you, you are my best friend. My brother from another mother.” He chuckled. “I promise that I will never forget you. And if you at any point feel that I am, please feel free to be a dick to me whenever you’d like.” He laughed this time. “We’ve come too far Tony, you and me for that to just go away.” You both sat there looking at the sky for a moment. “It will all workout.” You sighed and stood up. “Come on, I bought another lego set a couple of days ago. It should be in the garage.”
Everything was starting to move faster and faster leading up to graduation. It was getting out of hand but before you knew it you were in line waiting to walk across the stage. You were all sitting on the edge of your seat. You almost rolled your eyes when the principal announced the valedictorian speaker. Vision… His speech was formidable, and you found yourself genuinely clapping for him at the end of it. After that it moved rather quickly name after name being called, and loud cheering from the audience. It all felt unreal, it would officially all be over in the matter of minutes. You saw them all walk that stage. First was Pietro; he brought laughs and cheers from all over the auditorium, his backflip being the reason. Then consequently came Wanda, she looked happy, her eyes scanned the audience and her eyes met yours. Her eyes watered, but they stayed on you. You gave a small nod and a tight smile and that was that. A couple of minutes later Natasha was walking down the stage and you could not look away, you didn’t want to. Her eyes found yours immediately she smiled and waved at you. Then came Tony who had nonchalantly avoided shaking hands with anyone on the stage just taking his diploma and walking off stage.
As for you, you just took it all in. Took your diploma and smiled when your picture was taken. Then you saw Natasha and suddenly it wasn’t so overwhelming. It was something that you were truly looking forward to. It would be you and her for the time being starting this new chapter. If you were sure about anything it was that it would be worth it. The ceremony let out and you met with all of your family and your friends which at this point was only Tony and Natasha. Taking pictures to commemorate the day. You left with Natasha by your side. "You know that I never thought we'd get another chance to be friends." Natasha sighed. "I knew even back then that I'd most likely never see you in person again." You nodded listening to her talk. She had insisted on driving you somewhere special to show you a surprise. "Moving to Russia is not something a friendship usually survives. Especially not a childhood one." You nodded listening and hanging on to every last word. "I was scared..." She admitted softly. "That one day you'd stop caring for me, that you'd stop calling." You kept quiet knowing you didn't need to say anything. Listening would be enough. "And for the longest time it bothered me to no end."
"And then, it was me who stopped calling." You nodded remembering the first month that she skipped all your weekly calls. It still stung, you'd had a crush on her already. "You saw through it Nat, It would've only crashed and burned." You tried to soothe her. She shook her head. "Where would we be if i didn't do that... And, you... You still called on my Birthday. Even when I stopped calling on yours." You'd made it to a small orchid with beautiful trees. You parked on the side of the door.. She rushed and helped you out of her car, she held your hand and didn't let go. "Before I left mom brought me here. Thinking back she was probably very much aware..." She looked thoughtful but didn't elaborate. You accepted her silence, not really reading into it, your mind too enthralled with the fact that she was holding your hand. It was a beautiful day, you still had time to kill before all the graduation parties began.  "I think it's here..." She mumbled. You were curious to find out what it was.
Her hand squeezed yours when she saw what she was looking for. "Look." she ran her free hand along a tree her finger tracing the grooves. It was engraved. 'Nat + Y/n 4 ever' A nice heart encircled the two names. Natasha chuckles her mother definitely knew. "This... Wow." You were speechless. "When?" You managed to ask. "The week I found out we were leaving. It seemed fitting to do then." She smiled looking back at you. Your smile grew. "I'm only hoping it seems fitting now?" She asked suddenly, feeling self conscious. "We were totally in love with each other back then weren't we?" You say chuckling. She nods, but she doesn't say anything else, still waiting for you to answer. "I think this is very much fitting for us." She smiles lightly, biting her lip. "You think so?" You match her smile. "Yup" She moves quickly. Her hands grab your face as she pulls you towards her. When her lips meet yours it feels like the world stopped spinning, like the universe had been waiting for this to happen and it sighed in relief when it finally did. You didn't want to pull away. "You're telling me our parents knew we were gay?" She laughed in your arms.
It was a beautiful day worthy of this moment. She was ethereal the way her eyes lit up just captured your attention, there was no other place you'd rather be. "I was crushing on you for the longest time." You confessed. "Really? You never said anything." She wasn't exactly shocked by your revelation, but she was curious. "Well, I wasn't exactly sure how to address the fact that I had romantical feeling for my long distance best friend that I talked to maybe once a month." She chuckled. "That makes sense... Before Wanda?" Wanda was still a sore subject for Natasha. All you wanted was to reassure her. "Before... and after." She nodded. "There wasn't a choice Nat. I'd pick you, I promise you from this moment on." She smiled. "Well if it wasn't obvious I too have romantical feelings for you too." You laugh. "I'd say you do!" You say running your hand through the inscription on the tree. "I want you... us, to have the love story we deserve. So I'll make my intentions clear." Natasha was confident now and you loved it. "I want you to be my girlfriend, I want to be in your life as long as you want me in it." You smiled. "I want that too." You said softly. "Good... But I want to do this the right way. I don't want to rush us." You nod. "I can do that with you. As long as I get some kisses here and there, You know every once in a while." She pretends to think about it. "I think we can make that work." You nodded, extending your hand for her to shake. "Well that settles it then."
The night was still young, and you were very giddy. Tony was the one hosting the party everyone wanted to be at so your street was already crowded. “I’ll never get over the fact that Tony has this much influence over others.” Natasha mentions as she pulls into her driveway. “He’s a good guy, people wouldn’t follow him if he wasn’t. They follow him for the right reason.” You say. “I guess that's true.” You laugh. “Pepper will mellow his ego out, you’ll see. There’s no need to fear for the future.” You tease her. “Plus he’s made it very clear he’s not going to let us disappear from his life so, we’ll also humble him here and there.” She laughs. “We have a busy couple of months ahead of us so let’s enjoy this night.” You mention all the planning that needs to be made before you can actually begin this new chapter. “You’re right. I’ll get changed and meet you at yours in 20?” You nod. You practically skipped all the way home. It wasn't much distance but you skipped nonetheless.

Wanda was at her wits end. She had no idea how you were, and it was driving her crazy. It had been almost three weeks since she walked out. Every day Natasha's words kept rounding her mind. What would’ve happened if she hadn’t walked out, if she for once truly fought for you. That and you avoiding Natasha wasn’t helping her. Kate had been a lost cause she was your friend not hers. She felt like everything was going wrong and her teammates' lingering looks didn’t help.
Kate was still flabbergasted. The silence was deafening her wide eyes, the only sign that she had actually heard you. “You can’t do that.” She was already shaking her head and denying you. “You can’t just leave everyone just because Wanda is an asshole.” She was right, but this wasn’t about her, this was about you at least you think it is. “It’s not like that, I need space, I need to leave this environment. Just forget for a while, figure out who I am.” Kate was starting to come around you could tell so you continued. “I spent too much time thinking about how to accommodate how to change everything about me to best accommodate her.” This was more true than she could ever understand. You did it without even noticing. “I need this Kate truly, it might have been a hasty decision, but it’s not one I regret.” Kate finally nodded, she understood. “You’re leaving then?” She asked, still not sure if this was reality. A small nod was all the confirmation she needed. “How on earth am I supposed to keep this a secret? It won’t be long till Natasha starts asking questions, you know that.”
It was true, but Kate would just have to hold out long enough. “It’s only a couple more days till I have to leave.” Kate eventually conceded. “I’ll ask again then, do you need help moving?” You chuckled. “I actually do need help, thanks for asking” Overall it was a bittersweet night you and Kate spent, by the time it was done you both didn’t want it to be over. “I’ll drive you to the airport, and you have to promise to keep in contact, and to call at least once a week… And Y/n I can’t stress this enough you have to come back.” Kate was still processing this new reality. “You have to come back and visit.” This was a done deal Kate was sure of that, it wouldn’t take long for the rest of the team to notice. I would take them just enough time to notice and when they do it’ll be too late. “I wish you would make this easier on me.” Kate was talking about Wanda. “I’m sorry that I'm putting you in this position. It's unfair and I know it, but I just can’t deal with that.” She nodded and mentally prepared for the change.
Wanda had been stalking Kate for the past three days. Well maybe not stalking Kate was somewhat paranoid. Every time she walked into a room Wanda would already be there… So she ran. It wasn’t very mature, but it was what she had. Wanda HAD been stalking Kate for the past week. At first she couldn’t get to her because someone got to her before she did. Then it was Kate herself that would literally run away from her. Enough to say that Wanda wasn’t getting anywhere near Kate anytime soon. “Will you stop following that poor girl around!” Natasha was tired and also annoyed with your behavior, but she still understood so she let it be, “She’s hiding something from me.” Wanda was sure of that much. “What is it you want to hear from her, she’s dealing with Y/n and her emotions. You Wanda would be that last person Kate would want to talk about Y/n with.” As harsh as Natasha was being, Wanda had to concede. “It doesn’t feel right.” There was only one thing left to say. “Go look for her, try to fix things. This is killing you, fight for her.”
It had been a couple of days since she had that conversation with Natasha, and she finally made the choice to face you and make everything right. Wanda was fidgety all the way to what used to be your shared home. She didn’t really know what she was going to say let alone what she was going to find. She steeled her nerves and finally managed to knock on the door. You open almost immediately and you look stressed. You didn’t look at who was at the door, you just assumed it was Kate. “You’re early. I still have some last minute things to do but other than that I'm… All set.” You finally look back at who’s at the door and see Wanda. “I-i didn’t mean to startle you.” You shook your head. “I thought you were Kate, do you need something?” The question was genuine. Wanda took that as an invitation to step into the apartment. Everything looked the same, it didn’t feel the same but it looked it. Then she saw the suitcases that lined the entryway too many for it just to be a trip. Were you already leaving her behind? Was this easy for you?
There was a moment where Wanda debated raking your mind to find everything to understand where it all went wrong. All she wanted was to understand. “Umm, I was just checking in on the place…” There was an unsaid you at the end of that sentence. She saw your shoulders slump and she mentally cursed herself. You merely nodded, just as you were about to say something Kate burst through the still open door. “I know I'm early, but I brought breakfast so you don’t have to eat gross airport food.” Wanda watched you as Kate walked in. You didn’t want her to know. “Wanda, you’re here.” Kate said slowly. “Y/n, you okay?” You nodded, and turned your attention back to Wanda. “The place is all yours…” Wanda didn’t let you finish. “You don’t have to move out, this place is as much yours as it is mine.” You nodded “It’s for the best.” Wanda didn’t want to pry but she couldn’t help it. “Where are you going?” The question came out. “Respectfully Wanda, that's none of your business.” There was a beat of silence, before you saw her eyes turn red.
“You were going to leave and not tell me!” You were somewhat dazed by the mental invasion. “What do you want from me?” She’d never done this, not to you at least. “You don’t get to just abandon me, I'm still your wife.” Kate caught on to the situation and took a stance beside you. “You can’t just reach into my mind and violate everything you once promised me.” Wanda’s anger had just blinded her and she couldn’t believe what she had just done. “You abandoned me long before any of this.” You told her your frustration showing as your voice raised with every word spoken. Your tears spilled freely this time. “You abandoned me Wanda! Not the other way around, remember that!.” Wanda wanted to cry, but she couldn’t; she didn’t deserve to. “Kate get my things I’ll meet you downstairs.” Kate listened and got all your things as best as she could and made her way to the car. “Before I leave Wanda I want you to hear this, I hate you, and I never want to see you again” The words were cutting but there was still one more blow. “Read my mind, I'm not lying.”
Safe to say Wanda didn’t read your mind. She didn’t want to know if it was true. She barely registered when you left her standing alone in her apartment. Truth was that she barely even registered when she invaded your mind. All she wanted was to understand, but she didn’t take the opportunity to, she only further violated your trust. She didn’t take the opportunity to make things right and instead she watched you walk away from her, again. Maybe you were right, she had long ago abandoned you.
