Fanfic asks - for the askers
Basically, it's a fanfic asks with a twist - because now it's the askers who answer the questions and send them to YOU! Mostly to give you some love about your writing! Giving you some well deserved ego boost! <3
So, askers - pick a number, or several numbers, to answer in ask boxes that you send to your fic author!
My favorite fic of yours
My favorite chapter in my favorite fic of yours
The best character you've written for
The best ship you've written for
A fic I haven't read yet from you, but I want to
Something I remember vividly from reading one of your fics
What made me the most emotional after reading
What I like the most about your writing
A fic i'm excited for you updating/posting
A character/ship I didn't enjoy/think about as much before you wrote about them
Something I wish/hope you write
A fic of yours that i've re-read
If i've ever shared/talked about your fic to someone else
A fic I didn't expect to like so much
A question I have about one of your fics

One Piece "Training Arc" thoughts - contains Elbaph Spoilers up to chapter 1139
With the appearance of Scopper G(y)aban a lot of speculation is floating around that Elbaph will conclude in another training arc for Luffy and I keep thinking, that there is another lesson Luffy needs to learn in order to go against the Gorosei - that is, if he even wants to, but more on that later.
The current thesis is that Scopper will teach Luffy a new Haki technique and so far it was enough to defeat someone stronger to crush their dreams. Heck, I believe even Oda commented in the SBS that Luffy doesn't kill because letting them live with shattered dreams is far more devastating.
What if the lesson Luffy needs to learn is: Not all dreams can be broken?
I keep circling back to Loki and the Harley "graffiti". It is becoming more and more apparent that the reason for Loki's imprissonment got muddled, that it's not all it seems to be. King Harold wanted to "bridge the gap between Elbaph and the rest of the world", which could technically mean to make Elbaph a World Government affiliated nation. What if Loki wanted to prevent that from happening to protect Elbaph from being exploited by the WG? And in order to do so, because the peace loving warrior king would not listen, he had to wreck devastation amongst his own people. Because the dream of unifying Elbaph with the rest of the world could not be broken by words or fists. It needed a more permanent solution.
So far all of Luffy's opponents are still alive - even Kaidou is marked as "unknown" as last we've seen him, he was chatting with Big Mom in a lava pool - but the Gorosei won't stop after that. Worse even: As they seem to hold some kind of immortality they might just wait for Luffy & Co. to die and start the whole thing from scratch again. Who's going to stop them when everyone thinks they're in a time of peace?
So what if the lesson Luffy needs to learn in Elbaph (from Loki) is that sometimes to accomplish your goal, you need to kill your emeny.
Which brings me back to my thought from the beginning: Does Luffy even want to fight the Gorosei?
If the mural and the Harley are a portrayal of what's to come, who is to say that Luffy will actually do it? He is a character that defies expectations left, right and center, never follows plans and does whatever he feels like doing. Oda set him up to only be motivated by personal connection, if there isn't a person he cares about involved, the problem doesn't really matter to him. And so far I do not see him following any kind of prophecy (plan/path laid out for him).
Fighting the Holy Knight's to protect the children of Elbaph? Sure. Protecting Vivi from whatever the WG throws at her? Bring it on!
Go against them because they are controlling/manipulatin/ruling the world in a horrible way? Nah. Why should he? It's not his battle.
He'd rather become the King of the Pirates and be the freest person ever.

Some thoughts about the reactions to the newest One Piece chapter (1137) ...
I find it utterly fascinating that a lot of people go around claiming "Twin-Shanks has been confirmed".
But it hasn't been?
Like, I have either missed something essential (and please, do inform me if I did!) or they all are jumping to conclusions without it being explicitedly stated.
Because, right now, all we know is:
The leader of the Holy/God's Knights shares a face with Shanks
He is a Figarland
He is the son of Figarland Garling
None of those confirm, that Shanks is his twin. It is heavily implied that they are related, but that is all there is. So far.
Shanks might as well be a cousin, younger/older brother - or a clone, but as Stussy was claimed to be the first successful clone and much later than Shanks' birth, that theory is not as likely.
At this point it is obvious that Shanks has Figarland blood, but we still don't know to what extend. As we have also learned with Hajrudin this chapter there are illegemate children. What if that parallel is not unintentional? What if Shanks is the child of A Figarland (maybe Garlings' twin/sibling?) and been outcast for being a crossbreed (conceived with a slave/non-noble?)?
The current theory is that he was found by Roger in God's Valley, right? What if he was one of the other prices because they did not want to sully their name/blood with a bastard? (Which considering Garling was sure to win the Hunt, would imply that he would win his nephew/whatever and could do whatever he wanted to him - keep him as a slave even?)
But all of that is still speculation and we won't know until Shamrock meets someone who recognizes his likeness and calls him out on it.
I'm curious how things will connect.

an au of losing time where law is swapped with the younger version of himself that's already joined doflamingo
Ooh, fun. Snippet below the cut.
Penguin's not going to say it's the first time he's ever heard screaming and cursing coming from Law's room, but it's definitely the first time he's heard it at that pitch, and while Law generally likes to be left alone for most of his moods, it's different enough that Penguin considers the matter to warrant further attention.
So when he opens the door and a tiny ball of rage in a fluffy hat rolls out before he can even get a word of greeting past his lips, he resigns himself to it being more than an average Tuesday.
"Bepo?" he says a few minutes later, as he enters navigation. "When you said our path was going to take us close to Kairos Island today, how close exactly did you mean?"
"Within sight distance," Bepo mumbles, turning away from his charts. "Why--oh."
Penguin knows he must look a sight, standing there with a miniature Law scruffed by his collar, and sporting a few cuts and a black eye where he hadn't been fast enough, but in his defense, their miniature captain had come out swinging with a scalpel he'd found in their Law's bedroom. Only the sturdiness of his coveralls and his own speed had kept him from being hamstrung.
"I will kill you. I will turn you inside out and when my crew finds me, they'll do even worse," his assailant is spitting, swinging like a pendulum from the end of Penguin's arm.
"Oh seas," Bepo whines, staring at the ceiling as if something there could save him. "Doflamingo?"
"Doflamingo," Penguin confirms. There was no mistaking it; he'd been threatened with retribution at the hands of the Heavenly Demon at least a dozen times on the walk here. "Aren't we the lucky ones?"
"I didn't know the island could do that," Bepo mutters, sighing. "We didn't even touch ground."
"Maybe it awakened," Penguin grumbles, dodging a tiny foot aimed at his ribs. "In which case, I vote we never come back to this area of the Grand Line ever again. Tiny Law was at least tolerable, but you remember what he was like in his early teens."
Tiny Law stops squirming for a moment. "The fuck you mean, the Grand Line?" he demands. "I was in Spider Miles!"
Penguin sighs. "Look, kid," he starts. "We're going to go to the galley and get you some food and water. You are going to behave yourself, because we--" He points Law's face in the direction of the nearest porthole "--are underwater, and I don't know about you, but I don't fancy getting crushed and drowned today, and I know for a fact that I'm a much better swimmer than you. And then," he stresses, when Law makes a motion to argue even further. "We will explain what is going on."
"He's not going to believe it," Bepo points out morosely.
"Of course he won't believe it," Penguin scoffs. "At this point, I am offended that I have no choice but to believe in it. It's stupid. It's a fucking island."
"You two are pretty shitty kidnappers, you know that, right?" the gremlin in Penguin's hand points out.
Penguin sighs again. He hopes their Law is having a better time of it. Or at least not panicking. But given where the kid had clearly come from, Penguin wouldn't bet on it being quiet.
Meanwhile...
The man who had appeared out of nowhere at the Family dinner table, taken one look at where he was and launched into the most terrifying display of devil fruit prowess that Rosinante had ever been privileged to witness looked strangely familiar, but he was having a bit of trouble concentrating on why exactly that was.
He had noticed that every time he tried to do something he found himself turned around, or his bullets redirected somewhere else. All the kids had been neatly stacked in a corner too, though the stranger seems to have managed to tie them to their chairs without using his hands.
The rest of the Family was...not so lucky.
Doflamingo in particular was getting the brunt of it, and Rosinante had lost count of the number of pieces he was in now. It was hard to keep track of them when the air was full of pieces of multiple people. Multiple, somehow still alive people.
Eventually, whatever adrenaline is powering this impressive display wears off, and the man slumps bonelessly into the nearest chair. He takes off his hat and runs one long-fingered hand through dark hair, muttering something about islands and devil fruits and his luck, which he seems to think is poor, despite what he'd just done.
Despite being dismembered in ways Doffy could only dream of replicating so cleanly, his brother is laying into the stranger, promising retribution with a familiar grandiosity that Rosinante can't help but think rings a bit hollow when your head is sitting on a literal silver platter on the dinner table like a side of beef.
The man seems to agree, because he points at Doffy's head, not even bothering to look at him.
"Re:Room. Silent."
The resulting effects are so like Rosinante's own power that he forgets himself, making a choking noise of surprise that's a bit too audible for a purported mute.
The stranger looks up at him, and Rosinante is caught by the look in his eyes. Familiar, and yet not. Angry, but for some reason not at him.
"Sorry, Cora," he says, and it feels almost sheepish. Totally unlike the fury he'd seen before. Now the man just looks tired, and exasperated. "If I promise to explain, do you think you could call Sengoku? Impel Down's feeling a bit empty."
Rosinante feels his mouth open and close. How does this man know him, know Sengoku? Is he another undercover operative? A CP agent? Did Sengoku just get sick of how long this mission was taking and send someone for backup? He'd at least have appreciated a heads up if that were the case.
But from the way Doffy is silently screaming in both their directions now, his cover seems blown anyway, so...maybe he doesn't antagonize the superpowered man with the dangerous hands? Being done with this mission does sound appealing, regardless.
And where did Law sneak off to, anyway?
"Yeah, okay."

Law Novel to be released in German!
Couple months ago, I read a fantranslation of the Law Novel and was certain that it would never be translated into German because of its dark themes.
Apparently I was wrong!
German Manga publisher Carlsen just announced its release in August 2025! (German Instagram post)
I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this, excited for one, but also apprehensive. They put the age of the novel at starting with 12 and I have feeling that's too young and desperately hope that they won't change the content to match the rating.
---
Other than that has the announcement given me a plotbunny ...
This is part of the official blurb:
Gemeinsam mit Bepos Schergen, Shachi und Penguin, verfolgt Law das Geheimnis der unter Wasser fliegenden Schwalben, das die Insel umgibt. (Together with Bepo's henchmen, Shachi and Penguin, Law follows the island's mystery of the swallows flying under the sea.)
Yeah, you've read that correctly. Shachi and Penguin are now Bepo's henchmen. Just imagine Bepo as a mafia boss that apologizes after every stern warning, with Shachi and Penguin rolling their eyes and Law collecting debts and handing out punishment.
Can someone please write that so I don't have to? XD

Sometimes, when I get Kudos for my stories on AO3, I read the story that has been kudo-ed and am pretty delighted by what I find. Proud of what I've written so to speak.
Only to remember that they are barely known, just a little light amongst hundreds (if not thousands) of incredible fanfiction.
Then I start comparing it to my barely known original works and remember that I would have to do a lot more marketing, including posting pictures of myself, to change that.
As I'm bad at that, I'm glad Fanfics exist and have an easy "I read and liked this" thing that is way less daunting than a review on "The big A" for e.g. a novel and am happy again to occassionally get a message that someone kudo-ed one of my fanworks.
Keeps me working actually. And helps me practise/test stuff I want to incude in original stories.

I have been contemplating to add to this for days now, but I can't keep quiet, sorry.
Please do not make Law (and the Hearts) Bavarian! That would be the complete opposite of how he is portrayed!
Bavarians to my knowledge and experiences are boisterous, selfish and take up a lot more space than they were given.
Law in turn is quiet, thoughtful and sceptical, which is much more in tune with the people living near the North and Baltic Sea! The people who consider "Moin moin" to be talkative, that take a very long time to trust someone, but if they do are loyal to a fault.
If you wish to put him in silly clothes, take a look at traditional clothes from Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, they all have weird hats. Or simply put him in an "Ostfriesennerz" (literally: East Frisian Mink, actually: Oilskin) ...
~ Sincerely someone who is tired of Germans being definded by the one group of Germans, the majority of the country doesn't even like and has no connection to their traditions whatsover. (Saying all Germans wear Lederhosen is basically like saying all US-Americans wear cowboy hats and boots)
We all talk a whole lot about the Kid Pirates in Kilts here...
...but can we take a moment to ponder the thought of Law in Lederhosen for a minute?
Just:
With the little hearts.

Edit: I did it
