My name is Moataz, a journalist from Gaza.

My story!

Imarried Huda on June 22nd. I was very happy with her. I photograph humanitarian issues for the world. The war started and we were exposed to a deadly attack that we miraculously survived.

We became homeless, without food or drink. My wife was crying. I set up my tent for the first time after displacement on November 1st. We sought refuge with all the relief organizations, but no one helped me. We are now awaiting the birth of our first child after a long wait. Huda is pregnant... I tried to search for safety by any means, for me, my wife Huda, and our eagerly awaiting son, Malek! 😭

We were surprised by the new displacement and the terrifying sight of the bombing. We lost everything we owned for the second time, we took refuge in Rafah, I tried in every way to provide healthy food for my wife and our expectant child, but we were surprised for the third time by a major attack that made us leave without any food or shelter, Huda is eight months pregnant and we were displaced for the fifth time, this time is the worst, Huda and I stayed for five days sleeping on the burning sand of the sea. We did not taste food for five days, 💔

For Motaz and Huda, the past year has been filled with pain, displacement, and unimaginable suffering—all while holding onto the one bright hope in their lives: the arrival of their baby, Malik.

But war took that from them, too.

A few days ago, Malik was stillborn. He never got to take his first breath. Never got to feel the warmth of his parents’ embrace. Never got a chance to live, because of this war and the devastation it has caused.

Instead of celebrating his birth, Motaz and Huda were left grieving the loss of their son—yet another innocent life stolen by this war.

But their tragedy did not end there. Huda suffered blood poisoning after giving birth and had to receive a blood transfusion. She is still recovering, weak and fragile, as she and Motaz try to pick up the pieces of their shattered world.

With no home, no security, and now a devastating loss to bear, Motaz is pleading for help to rebuild his life with his wife. He had once sought support to provide for his unborn son—but now, he just needs the means to survive and care for his wife after this unimaginable heartbreak.

Rest in peace baby angel Amal Alyan. The newborn was beheaded and killed by an Israeli airstrike on a UNRWA clinic in Jabalia, North Gaza, where her family was sheltering. Her father and siblings were also killed in the bombing, which left 19 dead and dozens injured. Amal's lifeless body was brought to the Indonesian Hospital. According to her grieving mother, Amal had only been born two weeks earlier. She now has just one surviving daughter.

We worked 24/7 to make our house with bright colours, decorations and suddenly we lost everything since our first displacement. We saw the flame of fire above our heads. We spent tens of kilometers walking until we found a wall that sheltered us from the cold of winter at that time, and now we are writing the story of our fourth displacement, and we have lost everything. We have lost our happiness, our warm home, and our place. .The hot summer sand and dirty insects have become our companion,and diseases spread everywhere without any hope of mercy. You must know that the cost of living has exceeded, while there is absence of a secure income. Unfortunately, we have completely changed, We are now without any viable water. We dream of crossing the wall of life to live like others a happy life waiting our first baby like any family in this world. We dream of seeing our newborn in front of us growing in a very healthy environment not in the life of war.

Unfortunately, after nine month of pregnancy of my wife, Huda and I have lost our first baby because of Gaza war and malnutrition. My wife stayed a whole week in the hospital after giving birth of Malik due to blood poisoning so doctors decided to transfer blood for her. I’m afraid of losing my beloved wife and family members.
