"There are cheaper, fake options," Kagome reminded her. "Having real flowers will be a hit to your budget—"

Yuka shook her head, her card snapping against the machine. "Money is no object!" she sang, thanking the owner for her patience. "I want it to be perfect."

"I guess Sess—er… Shou-san pays Daisuke well." She ticked off a few items on her tablet, adding the shop's name and promising the owner she'd be in touch a month before the ceremony.

Her friend linked their arms, flashing her a smile. "He just got a promotion! He's now the head of his department. He even gets a company car." She giggled as she listed off his new perks, and Kagome tucked her tablet into her briefcase.

"Why isn't he helping you pick things out?" she asked. "Statistics show that marriages last longer if both spouses are involved in the planning."

Dragging her from the shop, Yuka waved her off. "He's actually done a lot. All the major vendors are clients at work, so he didn't even have to narrow them down!"

Kagome clicked her tongue, making a mental note to follow up with the man once the day ended. "And he's fine with you planning the engagement shoot?"

"It was his idea," Yuka confessed, leaning close as if it was a secret. "None of his family know yet, so I have to pretend he hasn't asked yet."

"You found the ring in a sock drawer, didn't you?" They shared a look, quickly dissolving into laughter as they walked to their next destination. Even the most methodical plans could go up in smoke.
