You were cold. Left alone in an attempt to keep you out of a fight, but something had found you anyway.

The stars were out tonight. It was beautiful. You couldn't feel your hands or feet. Back against the snowy ground, face red from the cold. You could feel your heart pounding in your chest and it felt like the only thing keeping you grounded. Were the others coming?? You didn't think so.

You wanted to move. You wanted to get up, to yell, to try to find even one of the boys. But you couldn't. Maybe it was a mental thing keeping you there, maybe you were freezing so bad that you just couldn't move.

Your thoughts are stopped at the sound of footsteps. Soft against the snow, hesitant. You turned your head just a little to the side, even if the action felt impossibly harder than it shoulder have. Black fur stood on four legs closer than you thought it was. Wolfie. Twilight. Finally, one of them could help you. Maybe??

It didn't feel real. The black fur that brought you comfort before was blurry at the edges. Were you crying?? Won't the tears freeze?? You blinked away any more tears collecting in your eyes, only to find a panicking Twilight in Wolfie's place. It didn't feel real. It felt like something your brain would make up to comfort you in your final moments.

His hand found yours, then both hands were around one of yours when he felt how cold you really were. Your eyes slid closed, exhaustion from the past few days finally catching up with you. Did dying people feel tired?? Was it normal to feel this tired??

Arms moved you, and suddenly you were sitting upright, one cold ear pressed against a warm chest. A heartbeat. Fast, like yours, in panic or fear. It wasn't yours, it was his. It felt real. It was real. It had to be. It brought you comfort. He really had found you.

You were safe.

I'm working hard to become an overseas J-pop idol! I kinda am right now, since I'm getting invited to cosplay conventions to dance! It's something I'm very proud of! (My next exhibition is this weekend! And the weekend right after I have another one, and the weekend after that one I have a contest :'0 it's a busy month, but it's exciting!)

MY HEADCANONS: CAN LINK COOK??

Hero of Hyrule (Hyrule Fantasy/TLOZ 1 + Adventure of Link):

Effortlessly skillful when it comes to cooking. Simple dishes with simple ingredients, but amazing results. He’s a pragmatic person with a great sense of deduction, so he always goes for what seems to be a “safe option”.

Hero of Legend (A Link to the Past + Oracle of Seasons/Ages + Link’s Awakening):

His uncle taught him a couple of basic recipes, which he modifies a little from time to time to avoid getting burned out from eating the same things. If he had to cook or bake something very different, though, he wouldn’t have a problem, but only if they provided him with instructions.

Hero of Time (Ocarina Of Time + Majora’s Mask):

Can’t cook at all, so he relies heavily on what he can eat raw or afford from the market. Following a recipe helps him greatly, but he doesn’t really enjoy the activity of cooking either, so he tends to avoid it.

Hero(es) of the Four Sword (Four Swords):

As a singular person, Link isn’t afraid to try cooking new dishes (as long as he can follow a cookbook). He’s better at cooking than at baking, though he's not particularly good at either activity. Still, it entertains him.

As four copies, they still enjoy cooking, but struggle to communicate, which makes it harder to get things done successfully.

Hero of Winds (The Wind Waker + Phantom Hourglass + Spirit Tracks):

Tends to get messy, but can cook fairly well. Often helps his grandma in the kitchen, and sometimes bakes cookies and other sweets for his sister. He’s not afraid to try new things at all.

Hero of the Minish (The Minish Cap)

He can make sandwiches. Very good sandwiches, in fact. He can’t do much more than that, even though he will gladly try.

Hero of Twilight (Twilight Princess):

Can cook, and enjoys it a lot! He uses the simple, humble ingredients available in Ordon village. On occasion, his neighbors from there trust him to be a babysitter for their children, and he manages to make veggies appetizing for them every time.

Hero of the Skies (Skyward Sword):

Since he lacks the self-confidence to try new things on his own, he feels better if the instructions are detailed and specific. He gets anxious if he doesn’t know exactly what to do or how to do it. When he attempts to cook, though, it usually turns out just fine.

Hylian Champion/Hero of the Wild (Breath of the Wild + Tears of the Kingdom):

Has mastered cooking by trial and error, and he loves it. To Link, every mistake is worth it when it comes to cooking and experimenting with new ingredients and recipes. He uses any ingredients he has and creates unique things every time. When things turn out well, he writes down the recipe.

It's still sinking in that The Owl House was about a girl running away to a fantasy world, all because of the ripple effects of losing her father at an unfairly young age — only to eventually learn that the fantasy world itself was made of the bones, and the flesh, of a loving father who'd protected his child with one of his final actions, before dying and giving life to that fantasy world. And eventually, in his truly final action, even giving life to Luz herself. Luz ran away to the Boiling Isles, all because of a single book that her dad gave her — and unknowingly, she spent every day walking over ground that embodied parental loss. A world that was born from a parent's death, a parent who had to leave their child far too soon — and not just any child, but Luz's own new best friend, in all of this new magical world. And King and Luz were only ever brought together because of their fathers' deaths — before they even realized they had anything in common to grieve. Before they realized a reminder of that grief had been beneath their feet this whole time.

But, at the end of the day... their fathers both gave them parting gifts. Their fathers both gave them the key to come of age in a world full of people who'd care about them — maybe not the only world where they could've been happy, but a world they wouldn't want to imagine missing. Their fathers gave them the chance to meet each other. To understand each other. And, ultimately, to heal and grow up together. Until the ground beneath their feet stops feeling so heavy, like grief — and starts feeling lighter again, like a gift, and a happy memory.
