Hi 👋, My name is Mohammad, and I’m reaching out in a moment of desperate need. I’m a father of three young children living in Gaza, and we are caught in the midst of a catastrophic war. Our home is no longer a safe haven, and the future here seems increasingly uncertain. 💔
I’ve launched a fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $40,000 to relocate my family to a safer place where my children can grow up in peace and have a chance at a brighter future.
Unfortunately, my previous fundraising efforts were abruptly halted when my account was terminated without explanation. However, I remain determined to keep fighting for my family’s safety and well-being. 🫶
If you could take a moment to read our story, consider donating, or simply share our campaign with others, it would make an incredible difference. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to safety and a new beginning. 🙏
Thank you for your time, compassion, and support. ❤️‍🩹

my favorite drug of choice is ships that AREN'T soulmates. they have had love before, they have lost love before, and now they're here. there's not a red string connecting them but instead a connection forged out of simply liking someone enough to love them. they were never destined, they were never doomed, they're just two people who love each other and that's it. in every other universe, maybe they're with "the one", or maybe they're with a different person every time, but in this universe, they are content and happy with their choice, and that's enough for them.

edwin getting tired of crystal's jokes about things that would kill a victorian edwardian child and snarking back: "we had aluminium in our bread, boracic acid in milk, and arsenic in our wallpapers. if anything, i doubt a contemporary would survive my times"
charles is grinning in the background thinking my husband is such a bitch and i love it

Dead Boy Detectives: My Argument for Renewal
So this is going to be a post explaining why I completely believe the show has been renewed, albeit quietly and why it has continued to stay quiet.
Dead Boy Detectives is officially past its first 90 days of release and we’ve had no announcement about it being canceled. If Netflix had wanted to simply cancel it (like way too many other shows) we would have likely heard already. There’s no reason to delay a cancellation announcement.
Netflix per more recent articles have cited completion rates as being one of the key metrics for renewal. Shows with above a “50 percent” completion rate have a better chance of getting renewed. While we don’t know what Dead Boy Detectives is, I would bet it’s at least above 50 percent.
In regards to observations, the continued engagement of the cast and writers is at minimum encouraging. From the cast to the showrunners, writers, and other crew have continually posted or reposted fan art or articles highlighting the show over the past 3 months. It points to one belief I have stood by the last few months: If the show was going to be or had been canceled the cast and crew would not bother. Why continue to engage with a show’s fandom if you were never going to work on it again?
Next up is one obviously important factor in decisions: cost. Dead Boy Detectives firstly was filmed in Vancouver, BC which is widely known as a less expensive place to produce TV (one reason many shows film up in Canada). Secondly Netflix, while distributing Dead Boy Detectives, did not produce the show. It was produced entirely by outside production companies as shown here.
Tumblr media
Lastly Netflix does not own the rights to the show. The show's rights were previously bought and are fully owned by Steve Yockey. When you add all this up it points to the fact that while Netflix aired the show, it cost the streamer far less money to make it in comparison to shows they produced themselves. One such example is sadly: Shadow and Bone. (This was verified on IMDB Pro, I advise anyone wanting to see it to do a free trial and check it out there)
The biggest “soft sign” I have seen thus far is this Deadline interview with Greg Berlanti of Berlanti Productions. Now this interview addresses multiple shows, but when you scroll down there’s one rather clear and really easy to interpret question.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Given that there is only one show currently named “Dead Boy Detectives” it seems all but certain Netflix (albeit quietly) renewed the show and are holding back the announcement for other reasons.
Those reasons I believe boil down to one extremely disappointing event: Neil Gaiman’s sexual assault scandal. If you want a breakdown of the news and a thread pointing out his behavior it has kindly been cited here. Shortly afterward NG canceled any events he was planned to appear at and has been silent entirely on his social media or tumblr mainly since July 2nd.
Now it’s likely he is addressing this in private, as he should be as these kinds of allegations should never be ignored or brushed under the rug. However in regards to Dead Boy Detectives his name has been tied to the show from the start, despite the fact he had little hand in making it. He himself stated on his tumblr that the show was Steve Yockey’s creation, not his. His only contributions were writing three scenes, and being an executive producer.
Despite this the potential for bad PR, especially for Netflix, remains. After the Baby Reindeer scandal where everyone, Netflix included, was accused of lying I would surmise they are trying to avoid any more bad PR after that fiasco.
Do I think they are going to delay it forever? No and I don’t believe they would want to. Since SDCC has now passed, the only time frame I can think of for hearing anything (and this is speculation obviously) is after Sandman finishes filming in mid August up till mid September for Geeked Week.
I know everyone has been disheartened by the wait with no bright shiny announcement from Netflix, and believe me I’ve had my moments. However when you look at the picture overall, and add up everything I’ve talked about here (and more I haven’t) I think we are due for some good news for Dead Boy Detectives.

i hate people that genuinely call others racist, homophobic, sexist, etc. simply for disliking them when it's unrelated to any of those topics. like it's time to stop viewing everything outside as an attack or prejudice against a part of your identity and starting looking INSIDE at why you can't accept the fact someone may just not like you for YOU instead of because of something superficial and out of your control. NO we DON'T care that you're queer or a poc or a woman, we care that you're a fucking asshole bro

george rexstrew deserves awards for many things but i have to say. edwin’s bloodcurdling scream as niko gets killed deserves a whole award unto itself. like. that scream did not feel at all like a tv show scream. to a somewhat jarring degree. and i can’t express how much I respect that

I know we make jokes about Edwin’s harem but it’s deeply tragic how every man who has ever desired Edwin romantically has also hurt him in profound ways. Simon is the reason Edwin was sent to hell. Monty abused his trust and nearly got him and Charles killed. The Cat King manipulated his repressed attraction and leashed him like a pet, keeping him trapped in a town with a murderous witch. All the while, the man Edwin actually loves, the man who has been nothing but kind and gentle and devoted towards him, does not love him back. Not in that way. Something Something Love is a punishment for not having been strong enough to remain alone.

i'm sorry but i find it lowkey hilarious that in almost every modern au merthur fic, arthur's a CEO/CEO's son. i know it's not intentional, but it's so funny to think that we immediately translate prince/king of an entire kingdom to the head of a business. because they hold the same power, resources, and money. like i feel like we SELDOM make arthur a prince in a modern au. nope. give our boy a corporate office job, he'll still hold the same power over people's income and means of supporting their families. AND I EAT IT UP EVERY TIME

UGH so excited because if buddie DOES go canon, like...how would they do it??? because, like, fanfiction is amazing, and there's such a huge variety of it that there's simply not a single way for them to get together that hasn't already been a fic. like it's ALL been done before on ao3, the question is, which fic predicted canon most accurately??
