I just got to the Alex's sendoff ep and I'm feeling all sorts of things and I love him, I do, he grew so much and I'm so mixed about how they chose to make him go but all the while I'm thinking 1) Izzie is still my babygirl and she's never done anything wrong ever in her life, I'm happy she's happy but sad it had to come at his and jos expense, and 2) I'm mad Alex got a proper (ish) sendoff, mixed and controversial as it was, while Callie got like 2 scenes, a humiliating defeat and practically no one caring that she left at all, or the circumstances in which she did. I'm so mad callie had practically no one in the end for her, her platonic soulmate was gone and her marriage was done and even her daughter was technically gone, her relationship with penny lacked substance and she just barely had mer? no other friendships to speak of?? There's not even passing comments about her as a doctor, not even when the Ortho head position was presumably open for a good while. God, Callie deserved better, I shout from the fucking rooftops every time I think about this show

ok ok trying to leave my callie bias aside for a second (not unfounded at all, but bias nonetheless), the biggest most objective problem I have with ny reunion fics and overall calzona fics is that it's not usually on an even playing field, and I get that someone's gotta give but then when it's so obviously one person doing most of the giving we end up right back up where we started; callie having to do most of the emotional labor in the relationship and when it fails, or falters, getting blamed for not trying hard enough or not staying or not doing it right. We end up back on the reason she did them both a favor and called it quits in the first place, and I hate hate hate that the shitshow that was the custody battle meant that was the last thing on anyone's mind, or the one thing that ppl skipped and got an update on through word of mouth so it's terribly skewed to one side at best, flat out incorrect at worst, and so it's the One Big Fault in their relationship, one Callie and she alone has to fix. As if it was the only problem, as if Callie was the only one in the wrong there, nevermind in all their other drama. The playing field is so uneven, any attempt to imply it is actually acknowledging both of their shortcomings rings flat and hollow and it's an outright lie.

as someone who only really ships the idea and the chemistry of calzona, and really really really should know better, is there anyone that ships them that isn't overly indulgent towards arizona and doesn't seem to blame callie for not bringing the moon down for her or something, even at her own expense, especially at her own expense?

I'm so goddamn tired of 'katara in lok' defenders and similar almost exclusively addressing their kids as only Aang's kids. The show, the creators and everyone else already do that enough. 'cloud babies' would be cute if they hadn't destroyed Katara's character and also had some water anything in them.

I didn't say that, but I can see how it may seem like it. I don't want Katara to have been a Airbender breeder, no, not at all and not in the first place, but since she feels like she was, harmonic convergence undermines that. We could've had a Katara with agency and shit to do besides being being seemingly content to be a stay at home mom and have kids until there was an airbender, and it would've been fine by the time lok came around

Of course there's nothing wrong with being a stay at home parent and wanting to have kids, provided it's what they want and in the case of fictional worlds, it aligns with what was established for that character, and realistically it may happen that yeah tenzin was the last, but this is a fictional work and they could've made a better impression if tenzin had been the second, at least. Yeah I don't like kataang but if well written it could've worked, maybe they would have wanted lots of kids, but loks poor writing in that department makes it seem like she was used as a means to an end, emphasized by how aang disproportionately favored tenzin.

I love lok but damn if it doesn't make me mad how harmonic convergence and therefore the airbender resurgence made Katara for all intent and purposes being an airbender popping machine irrelevant. They would've just come back anyway, only this time they had people to teach them (lit only one fam, when it should've been Kya and bumi too, as well as having tenzin a lil more in tune with water tribe culture). Like, it all just reinforces the fact that they undermined and sacrificed (for lack of a better word) Katara's character for nothing, in the end

for such a prideful character, i can’t stop thinking about Miranda only ever really taking ownership of her efforts when it’s her mistakes or her shortcomings. otherwise, it’s just her genes, her upbringing, her education, her position, etc. Her accomplishments aren’t really her own. She’s not supposed to make mistakes, so when she does it’s obviously her fault, her flaw, the reason she wasn’t good enough. i wonder how long she will still carry that in some way.

I know the mass effect 2 intro is incredible, but goddamn actually seeing it again after so many years....that shit slapped so hard it sent my mind back in time and it felt like watching it for the first time. You know Shepard is ok because there's still a whole lot of game to go, but the cinematography, the switches in pacing, the color contrast, red alert to blue space and dark vacuum, the music, the heavy breathing, the slow zoom out as the silence descends and shepard claws at their oxygen lines with increasing desperation, them fading into the darkness as they fall and you're left staring at the horizon glow trying to figure wtf jus happened. It still packed such a punch. Fucking 12/10, would die again

Miranda having trouble connecting with people beyond a minimal professional capacity, being the one most everyone likely dislikes/distrusts/is indifferent about, yet she’s the one who offers a squad health/weapon bonus..ironic but quite interesting –no matter what, she’s extremely capable and has great leadership and tactical skills, and people evidently respect that at least. Game mechanics showcasing her character better than the actual game story itself lmao.
