There's no wrong way to get to know your personal deities. Sometimes they find you, sometimes you just think they're neat, so you find them. Both are good, as long as it's helping you.
Dude, the whole concept of waiting for a deity to âreach outâ confuses me.
I just picked my favorite god and started praying. đ¤ˇââď¸

"If only Zeus kept it in his pantsâ"
Me: Yeah, I also hate how the Kings and ancient governments commissioned mythological stories about their own birth, lineage or general ties tracing them back to Zeus in order to scare their subjects into obedience with ancient propaganda while also disregarding how their mothers felt about looking helpless since women back then had no say and over time their propaganda became apart of Zeus's canon that people forget he was constantly being used by ancient politics in the same way that modern politicians use God and the Bible to pass legislations that negatively affect the masses.
If the myth is about a demigod (with the exception of Dionysus because his origins as a god are complicated) there's a very high chance it was once used as ancient propaganda.

Also just saying, homophobia and Christianity are colonial values.
Unless you're of Middle Eastern descent and your family is descended from Abrahamic sects in the middle east, you're ancestors weren't originally Christian, they were victims of religious genocide, feudalism, or forced conversion and they were oppressed.
Instead of focusing on people who got brainwashed by their invaders, captors, or the church, figure out what your ancestors would have actually practiced before they suffered religious abuse or colonialism.
You literally don't want to interact with hateful, self-hating, idiot ancestors when you have better ones to focus on, one's that weren't colonizers or weren't oppressed by them.
As someone who's native and Welsh, I get that it's easier to just be like, "oh, the Christians stole our land, raped our women, erased our language, introduced queerphobia and racism to our homeland, and destroyed our cultures so they must be the only culture we have left" and it's just not.
Just go back farther and remember the ones that fought back against colonialism and bigotry, because they were probably just as queer, broke, and angry as you and they'll support you.
But if you're too focused on your ancestors who were brainwashed pieces of shit, you're wasting your time.
I find a lot of the conversations on here about ancestors extremely frustrating. People say things like, âI canât work with or honor my ancestors because they hate me because Iâm gay.â (Or any oppressed identity).
And Iâm like.... do you think none of your ancestors were gay? Really? Over the last thousand years? Back when everyone had ten kids? Not one was homosexual? Or bisexual? Or a person who experimented? Not one? And that they all care? Like every single ancestor from Adam to 1890 hates the LGBT community? There wasnât one cool grandma?
Itâs rooted in this notion that every person born before 1980 is some kind of mega-bigot and thatâs just not the case. I donât think thatâs a safe assumption to make, especially when weâre talking about a large group of people who cannot speak for themselves. I was always taught that someone becomes a capital-A Ancestor when there is no living memory of them on our plane of existence. So unless they were keeping a written record or stories have been passed down, thereâs no way to know how they feel without interaction. There have been cool people in every time period and there have been assholes in every time period.
People will try to say, âoh but my family is all really Christianâ or âwell in our traditional culture this was forbidden.â And Iâm like, what were they before they were Christian? You donât have any pre-Christian ancestors? Were all your Christian ancestors practicing modern American Fundamentalist Christianity? And in your traditional culture, was this always forbidden? Or was it just taboo and people were still out being gay regardless?
And even if all your ancestors are spiteful, why not adopt some ancestors? Why not call upon the Mighty Dead? Why not honor your Beloved Dead?
And why would you assume your ancestors wouldnât change over time? I feel very strongly that they can and do. If someone can change their life around in five years, imagine what they could do with 800.
And why would you assume your ancestors wouldnât love you? I think a lot of people who come from traumatic backgrounds hear a constant whisper - a whisper that says, âThe world is not to be trusted and you are not worthy of love.â And you are worthy of love. Donât let your trauma stop you from seeking love (from the living or the dead, for that matter).
A lot of people on here want to heal their ancestors using magical rites. I support that, but also, you need to heal from your trauma too. Sometimes pain confuses us. Sometimes we think the world has turned its back on us, when in reality, we have turned our back on it. And trauma stops us from knowing the difference.

So, ya boy is pregnant.
I literally got pregnant the day that I decided to start my year long devotion to Artemis and Athena, so I'm just kinda sitting here like...
"Guess their name is going to be Athena or Artemis, and I'll be stuck with them for a year between pregnancy and the newborn stage... K.... This works..." So yeah đ
Tiny pagan baby on the way, yay!

I used to smoke a mix of blue lotus, mullien, damiana, mugwort, and tobacco together but I gave some to my ex husband (who's a daily stoner and isn't easily affected by drugs) and he got so high he crashed our car, so I seriously want to warn people, some of these are really heavy and aren't safe to take before driving.
Please make sure that you're being safe while using these because they are intoxicating. Trust me and the remnants of my T-boned Toyota Avalon.

Just a PSA that the person who drew this is a traitor and a TERF and does not speak for others.
Christians are colonizers and colonizers aren't welcome in witchcraft.

Whew, finally back from school! Now that Iâm free, itâs time to reassemble one of my best school essentials for next quarterâtiny, reusable packets of herbs that are perfect for spells on the go (or spicing up a dull mealâŚwhatâs the difference, really?).Â
While I love the look of tiny bottles for portable ingredients, theyâre not as space-saving as these repurposed straws. So though my best staples get bottled for easiest refills, I like to keep the odd ingredient (or extra backups of the classics) rattling around in my pockets like this! Some things to keep in mind:
Only melt the ends as theyâre separated from the herbs by the pliers/tweezersâfood safe plastic or not, you still donât want that melting on your ingredients!
Most straws work for this, but thin plastic straws may warp and bubble further up the tube before the ends seal shut; try a few tests, and heat with care.
While I always carry around a pen knife, if you donât, consider keeping these in a little pocket tin with a razor blade for easy opening. Cutting the small notch in the end is pretty effective for fingers-only opening, but may cause leaks in fluid-filled packets and should be avoided in those cases. Small, neat incisions with a knife also make for easier sealing for reuse!Â
EDIT: while I didnât touch on it too much here, I also use these to prepare ready-made spells. If youâre doing this, consider matching the color of the candle and straw to the spell intent!

âď¸ đžđ đ đ đđŚđđ đđĄđđđ đđđŁ âď¸ This spell jar is to help manifest good luck within your life. Whether you want luck in finding a job, prosperity in financial matters or just want an extra boost of luck within your life in general, this jar can help.
This spell jar works better when created on a Thursday as this is the day which is associated with Jupiter, the planet of good luck. This is why the jar includes the symbol for Jupiter drawn on a small piece of paper.
The clover can be a three leaf clover as this is still associated with good luck and fortune, although you can use a four leaf clover if you are able to find one. Make sure all the herbs you use are fully dried so they donât mould.
Once all the ingredients are in the jar, burn a green candle on top of the lid to seal it. Then place it somewhere visible to act as a reminder to focus your intentions.
As with all spell-work, use the tools and ingredients you have at your disposal. If you donât have citrine and jade, use clear quartz or green aventurine instead. Go foraging for clover. An easy way to get mint is to buy pure mint tea bags from the supermarket and then split the bags to use the contents. If you canât find one or more of the herbs, rosemary is a great substitute.

Scrying Mirrors
Im literally in the worst fucking mood today so i decided to chill the fuck out by making you guys another tutorial. Today weâll be learning how to make and use a scrying mirror.
Scrying mirrors serve a few purposes for witches. At its core itâs used for divination. The scrying mirror is a tool used to receive messages from spirits, powers, and even our own subconscious minds.
Again, it is just a tool. Scrying mirrors can be made and used in a ton of different ways, so donât think that this is a one-size-fits-all recipe. Change whatever you need so that your tool serves you best. This is just how i made mine.
The only real requirement for making a scrying mirror is that the end product gives you a (usually dark) reflective surface. You can use literal mirrors, a bowl filled with water, stones, glass- anything. For this tutorial tho, I recommend using a picture frame. I made mine using a used one that i picked up from the local thrift store. It looked super old and aesthetic, and even better, it was only a dollar fifty. Any size will work.Â
Next get the rest of your materials. Youll need black paint, a paintbrush, something to clean your frame with, and old newspapers for the frame to dry on. You donât need anything fancy, I used like ten of these tiny ass paint containers from my momâs daycare.
Take the glass out of the picture frame. Paint over one side of the glass. Leave the other side alone.
Youll need a couple layers, especially if youre not working with great paint. To see if you need more, wait for the paint to dry and hold the glass up to the light. Take note of spots where the light shines through and put another coat of paint on. I ended up doing about four layers.
After its dried, place the glass back in the frame with the painted side facing in. The glass facing you should be smooth and dark.
Dont forget to cleanse and consecrate your mirror! I like doing it after this step because i feel like ive connected with it, but some people do it at the very beginning. Either works as long as itâs cleansed and consecrated before itâs used.
Once youâve charged the mirror, youâre ready to try scrying. Find a dark place where you can focus. Stand the mirror up and place a lit candle on each side. Position the candles so that you can see their light flickering in the mirror, but you canât see your own reflection. Get into a meditative state and gaze deep into the mirror, almost as if youâre looking past the surface, into the darkness within. Let your consciousness drift, opening yourself to receive messages. When youâre done- which could be after a few hours or a few minutes- write down what you saw. You can keep these notes in your book of shadows.
I of course CANT since my BOS was stolen. I also wasnt in the right headspace for scrying today so i didnt see shit but i hope this tutorial works better for you guys.
Sorry if any of this is incorrect. My notes are all in my BOS and who the FUCK knows where thatâs at.Â
Let me know if you want more tutorials. Stay witchy.

Comfort Items + Witchcraft
A collection of ideas on how you may incorporate your comfort item/s into your craft. Be creative, be specific, make it your own! This is just to get some ideas flowing <3
Stuffed animals:
Put small tumbled crystals in with the stuffing.
Make a crystal bracelet/necklace for them.Â
Make herb/spell sachets (or even a teeny spell bottle) and place inside.Â
Alternatively, sew on a little pocket and place the sachet/bottle in that!
Enchant to bring comfort/protection.Â
*Use as a physical tie for wards or spells.Â
Make little outfits - incorporate color correspondences, stitch sigils in them, add little pockets to hold herbs/crystals, etc.
Similar post (with more/different/specific ideas!) by @will-o-the-witchâ can be found by clicking here. Definitely check it out!
Blankets:
Stitch a sigil onto a corner (or use fabric paint).Â
Add a small pouch/pocket (with a flap) for herbs and crystals.Â
Spritz with an herbal spray.
Enchant to bring comfort/protection.
Color correspondences.Â
Make your own blanket and infuse magic into the stiches/rows. Be creative with the colors and patterns - how do they tie into what you intend to use the blanket for?
Other items/general ideas:
Hold and channel your energy + intention into the item.Â
*Use as a physical tie for wards/spells.
Draw/stitch/attach sigils.Â
Attach/include crystals.
Spritz with an herbal spray or attach herbs.
Utilize color correspondences/material correspondences.Â
Enchant the item itself, or attach something enchanted to it.Â
Things to keep in mind:
Cleansing. If you are using your comfort item to help protect from negative energies, Iâd recommend cleansing it frequently!Â
Charging. How do you charge the magic youâve added to your item?
Refreshing. With wards, spells, and enchantments, they tend to fade with time. When was the last time you refreshed it?Â
*Risks. Physical ties for wards can be affected when the ward is attacked/broken. Do you want to risk it? Also realize that there can be multiple layers to wards, you might use your comfort item as a smaller, more specific ward. (I recommend having multiple ward layers).Â
Have fun! Your comfort item is important to you, so what you do with it magically should feel goodânot stressful or overwhelming!

Bless you, YeyĂŠ, and your wisdom đ
Advice from an hereditary witchâs grandmother: things a crone has to say

My witch of a grandmother gave me her beautiful encyclopedia on healing plants to celebrate Ostara! I told her about my blog and she asked me to share some of her advice âfor those lovely internet disciples of yoursâ. No, YeyĂŠ, thatâs not how this worksâŚ
But hey! When the crone talks, you listen!

âA jar of glass keeps away envious spirits and people who want to hurt you.â

âEverything dead deserves to be honored.â

âStrings of seeds bring prosperity.â

âA stone in the windowsill is a soldier that keeps away thieves, but make sure itâs not a pretty rock cause they might steal it!â

âWhen you trim a vine, keep some branches by the door so all the hard work youâve done doesnât disappear in a single day!â

âWhen youâre old and canât move so much anymore, keep a jar of seeds by the Gods so they can pick their offerings as they please.â

âI keep lavender by the computer because it helps me remember how to open Facebook. Lavender is good for memory. Tell your friends of the internet.â

âI keep the obsidian and the agathe geodes in front of the TV so there will be no bad news.â
So there you have it.
Advice from an authentic crone with over 70 years of Craft , Old YeyĂŠ.
She wishes you all many blessings and love and hopes you are all well guided.
Happy new season from lucky Old YeyĂŠ!
