Here is my new project bag, she is made from Liberty fabrics and a grey wool blanket.
It holds a surprising amount of stuff, I currently have a cardigan project in there with 600g of yarn, a pattern book and my big sewing case.
I hand quilted the base with rainbow sashiko cotton and the top is a patchwork of different prints made in a loop so that there is no side seam, hand quilted with pink sashiko thread. The base has a thick piece of stiff pellon to keep it flat and purse feet to keep it from getting damaged (forgot to take a photo lol) and the handles are pre-made leather strapping that I used rivets to attach to the bag. Instead of turning it inside out for the lining because the seam would have been so thick, I just basted the entire thing together then used binding on the top edge.
Overall really happy with this one!

I’ve been working on this for so long now, and it’s finally finished!
My previous sewing kit was getting too small and I needed an upgrade, so I started working on the bee cross stitch to incorporate and then came across the patches. I was tossing up which to use and then decided, why not make it double sided?
So after many hours of hand quilting it is finally finished and I now have room for all of my equipment!

I’ve reorganised my sewing needles using spare blood tubes from the hospital! It is such a great way of storing needles because:
1. I can stab them into the rubber thingy at the top so they stay organised and I don’t need to tip them out into my hand (the rubber is thick enough that they don’t poke out the other side)
2. They stay sealed in the container with anti-moisture beads so that they don’t go rusty
3. I can colour-code the tube lids depending on what is in them
So next time you are in your local emergency department, ask one of the doctors or nurses if you can steal some spare blood tubes!

Doing some fibre prep with my wool combs to use up all my beautiful blues pinks and purples, hopefully I have enough for a cardigan!

Belle doll I made for my sister. She has leather shoes that you can sort of see in the second pic, and the books made from felt in her basket have embroidered front covers. All made using patterns I drafted, with freehand crochet for the doll itself. The apron is removable but the rest of the dress and petticoats I stitched together on the doll so they are not able to be removed.

Spun up 200g of dyed merino roving in a green/blue/purple colour way with patches of pink and yellow. It’s not my usual colour scheme but I kinda love it! I’m thinking of using it to make a hood for winter because beanies mess up my hair !!

I made this little bucket for my spinning wheel so I can keep bits and pieces handy and store excess fibre. It has a pocket on the front made from a cross stitch I made a while back, and the main bucket part is hand quilted. The top has a drawstring that can be folded down into the bucket, and the leather handle has a snap so it can be easily detached from the wheel.

And here is the jumper made from the yarn!

I’m very happy with the pattern, I used BWM pattern PT8301 and modified the neckline to suit me better, plus added some pockets because a cardigan isn’t complete without them!

This is how I go from fibre to yarn, first it is spun into singles (1 thread) then wound to form a centre pull ball, so I can pull the thread from the outside and inside of the ball to ply it into the finished yarn (2 threads together). I then wind it on my niddy noddy to form a big loop that can be twisted into a hank. I then dyed this particular lot (over 1.1 kgs!) in a dark jade/teal colour to be knitted into a cardigan.

Some more attempts at leather craft, the first green pouch and the yellow pouch were gifts for my sister, and the second green pouch is for my stitch markers. I’m loving the green dye, I mixed some blue and yellow together because I was not going to buy another bottle of dye when I can make the colour myself !!

fiber artists be like “this project has shaven years off my life. for endless hours I have toiled with no end in sight, a man dying in the desert of my own foolishness. my loved ones will find my withered remains hunched over in my armchair, skeletal hands grasping the finished piece that drove me to my early grave. ooooh that pattern looks awesome I must start it right away”

hey so - we frogged your boyfriend. The pattern wasn't working out and we'd rather use the materials for something else. Yeah, we unraveled all of him, wound him into balls and put him back in the stash. Sorry. You can help us pick out a new pattern, if you want.

I made this cozy jumper using Bendigo Woollen Mills tweed 8ply yarn and their pattern Pt 8503. The buttons are replicas of Bilbo Baggins’ from The Hobbit films, made by BarefootSewing.

This is my attempt at a granny square jumper. I didn’t really use a pattern, just made the 6-sided granny squares (granny hexagons??), added some length to the arms and torso as I am very tall, and then free-handed the border and cuffs in single crochet. It’s so heavy to wear as it’s pure wool from BWM but I love it!!

This particular project is near and dear to me, as it is the result of my first attempt processing a fleece (freshly shorn off the back of a merino sheep at the Sydney Easter Show!). It was so full of dirt and veg matter that it probably wasn’t the best for a beginner but I persevered and got enough clean carded wool to dye/spin/crochet into a scarf.

I won this fabric in a raffle and thought it was perfect for making big quilted pillows with. They are 55cm tall and wide so are nice and comfy. I made 2 of the yellow/blue/white and 4 of the red/blue/cream ones.

Hexagon quilted case for my knitting needles. Every part of this from the zipper to the end seams were all hand sewn, there was no sewing machine involvement!
