How come when reading tarot or doing astrology we can sometimes get tangled meanings? My belief is that modern society has lost the necessary maturity to accurately interpret the full depth of meaning in a reading

Because we have disconnected from the natural world and a slower pace of life, and are immersed in a fast paced consumer lifestyle, it's hard to see the woods for the trees.

How we read it now: some sort of change (death) in the abundance or fertility (the empress) of a situation, 'bringing in the harvest'

Other ways to interpret it: it doesn't mean just the material level or even the rewards of effort. a change in your receptivity (fertility) to stuff like new ideas, other peoples feelings. even how able you are to tune into the wider universe. a fluctuation in these abilities. or even (classic meaning of death) the suppression or annihilation of an idea.

nowadays: can represent how we have to let go of (material) stuff, or surrender control over the results (fruits, harvest - the empress) of an outcome. we have trouble admitting our lack of control over change which is why we sometimes struggled to interpret this card combination

so if one or both have up recently but you don't know what they might be saying, hope this is an easy shadow work practice that can help unravel it :)

Thirty years ago today, Nirvana released their final album, ‘In Utero’.

I see every Nirvana release , from ‘Bleach’ to ‘Nevermind’, to ‘Incesticide’ to ‘MTV Unplugged in New York’ as mood pieces, which become my ‘favourite’ Nirvana album depending on how I’m feeling.

‘In Utero’ is definitely the one for me at the moment…with ‘Penny Royal Tea’ as my ‘favourite’ Nirvana song at present! 💛

90s Music and Uranus Neptune Conjunctions

I personally don't fall under this aspect as I was born in the late 90s not early 90s but those who do are part of a pretty intriguing generation as uranus neptune conjunctions take over 100 years to repeat

There's loads of stuff on the Internet about how people with this aspect in their natal chart are into fringe philosophies and mysticism so I won't go into that but it does interest me to see which albums where released when this conjunction was taking place or in the shadow of it:

I may have cherry picked a bit as I am into a lot of alt rock but let's analyse some of these releases in light of the planetary conjunction. There was also a lot of technological innovation that same year as musicians began to dabble with internet sales but that's a classic uranus-neptune aspect. uranus neptunw governs boundary pushing and taking things to the edge of creative consciousness, so it makes total sense that these albums were released while this conjunction was in the sky as all of them represented a change or nee beginning in terms of creativity for the artists who made them

My personal tastes aside, is it any coincidence that so many alternative rock albums were released in this year? The grunge scene dealt with depression and addiction; uranus neptune conjunctions often govern these matters and thus the energy was probably right for these lyrical and musical themes to be brought to light. Just my two cents.

Astrological Song Release Chart - Rina Sawayama, STFU!

Stuff I'm doing to push myself astrologically...

The idea that you can calculate an astrological 'birth chart' for just about anything is ngl my favourite bit of astrology and I've been fascinated for a while about doing this for song releases and if they are any patterns or different effects on the different signs.

I started with STFU! by Rina Sawayama because

it's honestly one of THE BEST pop-metal combinations I have ever heard

I've been living under a fucking rock and can't believe I didn't hear this when it first came out asdjkffjdd

I also wish I had known how racist and exploitative Matty Healy was, which I didn't until I heard about her calling him out. Here's to hoping Rina can get a new label sooner rather than later where he doesn't get any of the profits from this track (is it possible to transfer an artist's catalog from one label to another like this? imo is should be...)

So, this track is a scorpio...

stellium in Scorpio yeah I could fully analyse it much more than I have space for but it's pretty big. Lots of bold energy, mars is in a sign ruled by water though, so it's interesting how both this, the sun, and mercury (ruling air and communications and thus representing the media and music industries) reflect public image and social impact. This makes sense with the song's themes as a callout track, and in addition the sun's placement in scorpio can indicate the nu metal inspired changes to her sound that were previously unprecedented (scorpio is secretive af, yet the sun brings fresh and individual energy).

meanwhile Jupiter (expansion) is conjunct venus in Sagittarius (a fire sign) so there is plenty of big, active energy but that is balanced and moderated by the earthier energies of venus. this actually checks out with the musical balance of energies within the song (metal and alt pop, and the way it mixes and matches more intense bits with more mellow bits.)

Does the release date embody some of the same astrological energies as the song and the writing behind it? There do seem to be some themes which makes sense given the law of attraction, which is why I'm gonna do more of these

There is a lot more I could say about this chart but honestly I need and want to listen to her catalog more fully and deeply first. I don't feel you can analyse a song's chart without that kind of immersion but idk, maybe just me. I wanted to do this one though as it's such a great track in general so yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be listening to her stuff on repeat now lol.

This is also my first time analysing a song release chart and it has really got me thinking about astrology differently so I will probably end up doing some more...
