Daily fucking reminder that Luigi Mangione is innocent, completely and fully. He has been convicted of no crime. He has had no fair trial. He is a SUSPECT. Luigi Mangione is entirely innocent and everyone needs to stop parroting this insidious propaganda that he ā€œcommittedā€ the crime he is only SUSPECTED of. He is not a murderer. He is not a criminal. He is an innocent man.

i cant stop thinking about conclave ive gotta see it again 😭
i am catholic, actually, and conclave caught me in a troubling moment with faith ig, i wasnt exactly doubting, just going through something around doing enough, and it really hit me right
beautiful beautiful movie been reassuring all my family members that receive whatsapp messages against it that its really respectful of catholicism and has the pope's choice beautifully inspired by god, theyd disagree if they watched but well for me its the truth
i wanna try watching it with a non-catholic perspective, maybe? i dont know much about the book, but its an american film so i know this isnt a ~catholic~ movie but well their believes in the church and god was really present for me as well as the belief of holiness of both the late pope and benitez for me strengthen the end so i definitely dont know how i could do that
god i cant stop thinking about conclave so so beautiful

the idea of a trump dictatorship actually terrifies me bc i know that the us does not have a strong enough constitution or any institution that coud stop a coup and i dont trust the us people to resist a dictatorship even if they think of themselves as freedom fighters its just not really on the history of most of them and even if the usians manage to resist and overcome a dictatorship i don't think they would actually change anything about that shit country especially their weakass constitution, at maximum theyd add an amendment, and dude the us is too powerful, it already is, it will be terrifying to try overcoming the us influence and military power with an outward fascist dictatorship, its already horrible when the presidents pretend they are good people

A rant while i thought of while watching Kuroko no Basket for the first time:
Kagami Taiga is the only winner of the entirety of kuroko no basket because he didn’t fumble Kuroko. Unlike the generation of miracles, Kagami managed to become everlasting partners with the biggest baddie Kuroko Tetsuya. Bro scott pigilgrimed his ass against the five (?) evil exes and won. The generation of miracles must be frothing at the mouth they all fumbled so hard. They all had better initial chances but look at my man Kagami go like yes king go get your man. It doesn’t matter how many baskets you make bcs if you get with Kuroko, damn you’re already the biggest winner. Congratulations Kagami Taiga you are the true winner of the clusterfuck that is kuroko no basket. Bro gets to wake up to Kuroko next to him GODDAMN. The other five fumbled so hard like you don’t understand— *gets carted off to the psychotic ward*

My brother in law recently became a veterinarian and it has really driven the point home as to how fucking bonkers veterinary medicine is. We don't expect human physicians to really know much outside of their own specialty - a dentist, an otolaryngologist, and a maxillofacial surgeon are three totally different dudes. Meanwhile a veterinarian at a wildlife rehab center is doing orthopedic surgery on a hawk and then doing rounds on baby hedgehogs in the hedgehog NICU and administering antibiotics to a ratsnake. And he also knows how to perform surgical interventions on a cow! What the fuck! Those are all totally, wildly different kinds of animal!!
Shout out to veterinarians, they know Too Much.

As someone who is working on a Greek mythology comic, I have to say to all of the retelling writers out there, one of the most aggravating thing you can do and something I've seen done many times, is completely clean the wrongdoings of the god or gods who are either the main characters or supporting characters of your retelling, but make it so one specific god or more still has all of their wrongdoings from the original myths, or add stuff they've never done before, just so you can have a villain.

I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist on main but all the memes about Luigi Mangione kind of piss me off bc I am 90% sure he is not the assassin.
I know I've joked in the past that all white men look alike but Luigi Mangione litterally does not look like any of the shooter pics.
The shooter has a long face and a sharp chin, Mangione has a more square face and rounder chin, and THE EYEBROWS!! You're gonna tell me he groomed his eyebrows before commiting a murder and they just grew back completely in less than a week? Nah
Not to mention, police claimed he was wearing the same jacket and backpack from the day of the shooting. You know, the same jacket and backpack the NYPD found discarded in Central Park?
And they're saying his fingerprints match the crimescene even though security footage clearly shows the shooter wearing GLOVES!!
Not to mention, after every meticulous step taken to get away with the shooting, why would the perpatrator still be carrying the murder weapon and a manifesto??
I genuinely believe the cops are using Luigi Mangione as a fall guy. They found a centrist Ivy League kid who kind of matched the description in order to shift the narrative from class war back to a less threatening "left vs right" culture war.
His politics are messy enough that people will spend more time debating over what side of the spectrum he is on than the actual issue at hand. THIS IS A DISTRACTION!
Also the story is all over the place. Was it a McDonalds employee or patron that reported him? The story keeps changing but either way it sends the message that the working class will turn on itself during an unprecedented moment of class unity and solidarity in the United States.
Also I think pinning this on an Ivy League kid was done in an attempt to shift the narrative from the assassin being a working class hero to just another trust fund kid. That being said, even if it WAS him, an Ivy League trust fund kid has more in common with you than you have with the 1%.
So people in the US, please think critically about the distraction tactics being pushed onto you and don't forget who the real enemy is.
Keep solidarity.
Deny
Defend
Depose
Edit: I have since been informed that Italians grow eyebrows at a very fast pace. I syand by the rest of the post though.

"I’m very concerned about my client’s right to a fair trial in this case.Ā  He’s being prejudiced by some statements that are being made by government officials. Like every other defendant, he’s entitled to a presumption of innocence. But unfortunately the way this has been handled so far his rights are being violated. And as you know, Your Honor, there’s a wealth of case law guaranteeing his rights to a fair trial, but none of the safeguards have been put in place yet here — in fact it’s just the opposite of what’s been happening.Ā
He’s a young man, and he is being treated like a human pingpong ball between two warring jurisdictions here.
These federal and state prosecutors are coordinating with one another at the expense of him. They have conflicting theories in their indictment, and they are literally treating him like he is some sort of political fodder, like some sort of spectacle.Ā
He was on display for everyone to see in the biggest staged perp walk I’ve ever seen in my career. It was absolutely unnecessary. He’s been cooperative with law enforcement. He’d been in custody for over a week. He waived extradition. He was cooperative at all accounts. There was no reason for the NYPD and everybody to have these big assault rifles — that frankly I had no idea it was in their arsenal — and to have all the press there the media there. It was perfectly choreographed.Ā
And what was the New York City Mayor doing at this press conference, Your Honor? That just made it utterly political. And as your honor knows under Loro v. Charles, the Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit has held it to be clearly established that these staged perp walks to the media unrelated to a legitimate law enforcement objective is unconstitutional. And I submit that there was zero law enforcement objective to do that sort of perp walk. There’s absolutely no need for that whatsoever.Ā
And frankly, Your Honor, the mayor should know more than anyone about the presumption of innocence that he, too, is afforded dealing with his own issues. And, frankly, I submit that he was just trying to detract from those issues by making a spectacle of Mr. Mangione.Ā
And there are consequences to this.Ā
He has a right to a fair trial. And I just want to put on the record statements that the mayor made publicly about my client. Nothing saying ā€œallegedā€ for example. And he said ā€œI wanted to send a strong message with the police commissioner that we’re leading from the front. I’m not just going to allow him to come into our city. I wanted to look him in the eye and state ā€˜You carried out this terrorist act in my city, the city of New York that I love.ā€™ā€ And he wanted to show symbolism.Ā
Your Honor, he’s not a symbol. He’s somebody who is afforded the right to a fair trial. He’s innocent until proven guilty. And the mayor was talking to jurors — future potential jurors that elected him. Those are the people that elected him that he is talking to and calling this man a terrorist.
So, Your Honor, I just want to make a record of this and put everyone on notice that this has to stop, and my client is entitled to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence."

Prosecutors argued that Mangione was carrying about $10,000 in cash and that his bag was a Faraday bag that blocks cellphone signals—all proof that he was a sophisticated criminal who should be held without bail. ā€œā€˜I’d like to correct two things,ā€™ā€ Mangione said after the prosecutor finished speaking, according to CNN’s Danny Freeman, ā€œā€˜I don’t know where any of that money came from—I’m not sure if it was planted. And also, that bag was waterproof, so I don’t know about criminal sophistication.ā€™ā€
