Art is emotion, feelings, passion, humor, and the unveiling of one’s spirit. Creating art can open one up to things inside of their being they were not sure were there or maybe they knew were there but needed to expose it and show it to other human beings. Viewing art can reveal to the viewer something inside of themselves or a perspective seen from the artist’s standpoint that they were trying to reveal to the viewer. The emotions felt when looking at, touching, or listening to a piece of art, have a greater bandwidth than I realized until recently.
The Last Supper was just a piece of art that someone threw together and was reprinted and hung in countless homes I had visited – until I learned the techniques and countless hours that DaVinci put into creating it and educating myself which mediums he used and how long it took him to paint it on the wall of the monastery in Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan Italy, as well as the efforts of many to restore it over the years.
Prior to observing the painting Interrogation by Ali Banidadr, I thought of abstract art as paint thrown onto a canvas carelessly and haphazardly to sell a piece of “art” for thousands of dollars and more. While studying this painting I saw so much more than that. I saw a war scene and brilliant colors placed on a canvas with intentionality and purpose. The use of lines in the painting created a scene that would be missed had I not taken the time to see what the artist intended. I saw a canvas “filled with activity, a battle on earth and a possible spiritual battle” as well.
I have lived in my city for a little over three years and have noticed several statues in the park nearby. I always liked the statues, but really paid little attention to their details or put much thought into who created them. While studying sculpture as a form of art, I was sent to take photographs of one and ended up taking photos of many of them. I also ran into a homeless lady named Katie who knew much of the city’s history, and we spoke for about an hour about the artists and how the statues came to be and how long they have been in the city center. Hearing her passion for them sparked an appreciation for them that I did not have previously. As I drive by The Secret Bench of Knowledge on my way home from work every day I think of the Canadian artist Lea Vivot, and how the bench used to be in Naples but was moved to Bonita and I am thankful that they no longer appreciated it and that I now have the pleasure of it being in my city.
Poetry has never been something I appreciated much because I did not take the time to appreciate it. Dog was just a story of a dog who “wandered the streets enjoying the surroundings and taking in sights and smells of the city” until I read the poem a few times, then realized there was something political being said and had nothing really to do with a dog at all! What creativity to take a story about a dog and make it human.
Music has always been my top priority of most days. I love listening to music as it does much for my soul and how I feel and changes my mood if necessary. Every song I found to do with happiness, not only had words that reflected happiness, but the musical notes themselves made me feel good and lifted me up.
From the music that “incites happiness,” to the poem Dog which I thought was about a happy dog wandering the streets living his best life, to The Last Supper, I can distinguish that I lean toward things that are either spiritual in nature or that bring a sense of happiness to me. It is easy to fall prey to the negativity of the world and it can drag you down before you even know what happened. Through this journey, I can see that I have a constant drive that brings me towards things that will turn an adversarial day into a sunny one instead. Not only have I been able to recognize a constant in my personality or things I am drawn to, but I have a new appreciation for art and the artists who create them.

The Girl with the Pearl Earring
In a universe of endless space
Your beauty was portrayed using only your face.
Your eyes seem to have secrets you wish to reveal.
Vermeer used this opportunity to possibly steal.
Perfection on canvas painted with pride.
An earring the focus hanging down at your side.
Your gaze pierces even the hardest of hearts.
To take you home is a must, from you I cannot part.
Your stare is unescapable, it is now my demise.
Your beauty has captured even the wisest of wise.
Tell me your secrets, I will lend you my ear.
No longer will you stay there living in fear.
The Girl with the Peal Earring is an interesting piece of art. The beautiful girl is displaying only one earring and hence the title. One may be distracted by the painting's title and focus merely on the earring and not recognize the emotion in the painting. The girl appears to be quite young – thirteen or fourteen and yet at this youthful age, seems to have secrets behind her eyes. In a world of underage children being trafficked and used as sex slaves, it made me think of the possibilities of what this young girl may have been going through. No one knows the story of the girl with the pearl earring in this portrait. Light may not have been shed on situations involving minors. It cannot be ignored, the possibility of her being used or forced to pose for the painting. In whatever way the painting came to be, the artist captured emotion and feelings on canvas. As I wrote about her, I captured the look on her face, the feelings she may have been having and how someone looking at her might feel the need to take her home and rescue her from whatever they felt she needed to be rescued from. One could also perceive that even the wisest of men could fall into the trap of her youthful beauty.

Ascension
Ascension Bill Viola
Watching this video, I was at first confused as to what I was seeing. Expecting to see some action I was disappointed, but then realized this was meant to be a form of video art, I took a second look and saw much more. As I have tried to hold my breath swimming from one end of a pool to the other and back, I recognized the effort that went into the video from that standpoint alone. I can appreciate the film from another perspective as well. The background is black and abysmal, setting the scene for the swimmer's ascension. There are no distractions around the man, only the light from above that seems to wrap around him and make him the focus of the video. Unlike a typical television series that keeps you coming back for more with its lack of finality in each episode, the Ascension leaves you feeling otherwise. I felt a little unappeased by the finality of the video because I did not know if he got out of the water, if he drowned, or how long he was able to hold his breath, and there was not another episode to reveal the outcome. I do find myself curious how the video was taken. What kind of camera did they use? How did they achieve the lighting or lack thereof? How did they come up with the idea to film this man jumping in and floating effortlessly amid the water? With all the questions I was left with I concluded that it was interesting and intelligent enough to be considered a form of art.

Hamlet's Demise
Scene 5 Hamlet’s father’s ghost appears to Hamlet and tells him that he has been murdered. Before he tells Hamlet of his death, he requires Hamlet to vow revenge and he does. He details how he was murdered by Claudius placing a poison in his ear, causing him to die. In a scene I watched on YouTube, the actor stated that the poison went into the gates of the body and caused the blood to curdle such as milk would curdle. There is a lot of dialogue between the two about how he was murdered and what revenge he wants through Hamlet. He makes him vow to do so. Much of the plot of the entire play hinges on this scene, as after Hamlet vows to kill Claudius we begin to see many opportunities for Hamlet to kill his uncle. In Hamlet we see a flaw in character due to his indecisiveness and his hesitations to kill Claudius, however one may contribute his indecisiveness to such anger because not only did he want Claudius to die, but he also wanted him to burn in hell. He waits too often although his opportunities existed on more than one occasion. He thought too much about it while Claudius was praying because of the off chance that he would go to heaven if he were killed at that moment. This scene of King Hamlet appearing to Hamlet to seek his revenge through his son brings on much tragedy in the play. Not only does Hamlet’s desire to avenge his father’s death bring death to Claudius but brings death upon himself as well as Laertes and Gertrude.

Elf and Under the Tuscan Sun
The movie Elf is a Christmas lover’s favorite. The movie begins with Buddy being accidentally picked up by Santa and brought to the North Pole where he is raised by elves. He thinks he is an elf, but never really seems to fit in. He eventually ends up in New York where he is searching for his biological father and not only finds his father, but also finds his identity, as well as love. The scenes are well lit and extremely colorful, and the story line bounces around from scene to scene keeping you entertained throughout the film as you watch Buddy and his antics. Under the Tuscan Sun is a film starring Diane Lane. She finds herself in the middle of a divorce with her unfaithful husband, while drafting her book. She loses everything material in her life because his mistress wants the house because it is in the best school district. At the beginning of the movie, she is in a cold weathered state, and everyone is wearing is sweaters, scarves, and geared for cold. The lighting is not necessarily dark, but it is not as bright as the rest of the film. This sets the stage for the rest of the movie where in Tuscany it is bright, cheerful, and sunny all the time. She finds herself in Tuscany on a romantic trip that was meant for her friends, who got pregnant and could not travel, so they award her a first-class ticket. While in Tuscany she decides to purchase a rundown home and restore it. While she is amid the restoration, she decides to take a break and go to another city and do some shopping. She runs into a handsome younger man, and she is swept off her feet and thinks she is in love. She returns home to finish her renovations and as much as she tries to make it back to see the man, it never pans out - even though he also tried to see her at her home as well. Her one true heart’s desire is to have a family, and a wedding and many people at her home. We find this out after her heartbreak from not getting to see the man (Marcello) again, and she cries to the realtor who sold the home to her and befriended her along the way. At the end of the movie, her renovations are finished, and you find her sitting outside on a beautiful sunny day, sipping a glass of wine, and wearing a beautiful mandarin colored satin dress. Her makeup is done perfectly, and she is relaxed and at peace. When a gentleman arrives at her side and ask her in his broken Italian “Where is the American author who lives here?” Ironically, there is a wedding going on that she is hosting, her friend is dancing with her baby, and there are many happy people at the house. All her wishes have come true, and you are left feeling that the gentleman that was at her side will be her true love. The setting for this scene is outside and it is bright and warm, and you feel as if you are in Italy and you have fallen in love, and all your dreams are true as well. There is no doubt that the lighting and weather differences from the city scene and the Tuscan scene bring in an element of distinction between the sad life she had to the now happy and joyful life she will continue to experience in Italy.

Cinematography
The Godfather is renowned as one of the most iconic mafia movies of all times. I always saw the movie as having low lighting and appeared low budget, and thought it had to do with the era it was filmed in and the lack of tools. learning it was done intentionally, leads me to think that they achieved exactly what they set out to do which was to make the movie dark and criminal in nature. La Jetée was a film that was very different from films I am used to. In this post apocalyptic film, the use of still photography combined with a narrator, created a sense that the characters were already dead, although they may not have been. The music was as strange as the film was, and at one point even had my dog cocking her head sideways at the flock of birds screeching during a scene.

Sun

The sun in all its brilliance and beauty never disappoints when it comes to showing off all its differentiability. A person could take several photos of the sun at contrasting times of the day, and they would have a variety of pictures. The clouds may be a dazzling white, or ablaze in an assortment of colors ranging from flowery fuchsia to tangerine and cyan. The colors that stream from the sun and sky are endless and the most avid painter may find it difficult to replicate all the colors represented in one photo. Some may argue that the sun, sky, and clouds are not art. Although this may be an accurate statement, from a scholar’s perspective, I would argue that the creator of the universe displays billions of epic cosmical paintings a day all over the world. One does not have to agree that there is a creator, but it is undeniable that every day at all moments of the day the universe is displaying its majesty through the movement of the sun and clouds in the sky. The Steerage is a photo taken by Alfred Stieglitz. The reason this photo has been noted as famous is because photography, only around for about a hundred years, was a form of art and was able to document that specific moment in time. No one was posing – no time to paint this scene and collect all the intricate details of that moment. In an equivalent way the sun must be photographed in that specific moment that a person sees something they want to capture, because in those moments the scene will change, and it will never be the same. Yes, you can paint a picture of the sunset or sunrise, but much of the painting will be from the imagination of the artist, unless they are copying from a photograph. I believe the f/64 group, a group of photographers founded by Alfred Stieglitz that took photographs that the foreground, middle and background were all in focus, would appreciate taking pictures of the sun in many different landscapes. Document artists as well, may contribute to their art that may also contain photos of the sun in their background as it is the reason we have light to document anything during the daytime hours. The sun can be a part of any type of art as displayed in many ancient art pieces such as The Monstrance or Anatolian. Although the sun can be a part of several types of art my photos are simply straight digital photography. They do not document any specific historical event and although some contain people, they just happened to be there and were not posing for a Pictorialism piece.

Music That Incites Happiness
Music That Incites Happiness
Happiness is something we all tend to strive for and the things we put in front of us help to determine how we feel and think. It is important to keep positive things going into your eye gate and ear gate as your body and mind react to what we surround ourselves with. All the music I have chosen has relative consonance as dissonance tends to bring feelings of negativity. The music I have presented does not necessarily have a theme of happiness in every song, but the songs either have a topic of happiness or the rhythm, tone, or melodic lines all contribute to happiness or feeling joyous whilst played.
Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is a well-known classical song from the Nutcracker. It is often associated with Christmas and for most, Christmas is a holiday known to bring happiness to many. The song itself makes you want to dance along with the ballet and the melody tends to repeat during the song quite a bit.
Happy Talk by Ella Fitzgerald is a jazz song that talks about things that may make a person feel happy and Ella says you need to talk happy and have dreams and to talk about those dreams. The music in the song is a basic melody and rhythm that constantly bounces along and is a steady and even song without crescendos or decrescendos like the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Somebody Like You by Keith Urban starts off with a repeating melody with a mandolin. The guitar playing in the song is steady and rhythmic with the mandolin coming in and bringing an extra bit of fun into the song. The song has a fun beat and there are harmonies within the song. The song is a country song, but you can feel bits of rock and roll playing through it and that part brings in a little bit of variation to the piece. It has a happy feeling to the song as he sings about finding love and he is quite content with the person he has found. Love is something we all search for as a piece of our happiness.
What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong is a jazz piece known worldwide. He sings about the beauty of the world and all the beauty growing around and he is moved by it. The “colors of the rainbow,” people’s faces, and friends telling each other they love one another when they do a simple act of shaking hands. Simple things such as white clouds, blue skies and simple smiles are all examples of beauty in the world and in beauty we can find happiness. The tempo of this song is simple and yet soothing and serene, and it makes you feel warm and free inside.
Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & The Waves, has a tempo that is upbeat and really gets you moving. The tempo and rhythm alone get your adrenaline going. The words of the song are also moving as the idea of “walking on sunshine and feeling good”, causes you to want to sing along and dance which also contributes to a person’s wellbeing and dopamine release which as we know adds to a person feeling happy.
Let the Good Times Roll by BB King is a blues song which you may think is not a genre that would make a person feel happy. The song has an upbeat rhythm and there is a feeling of happiness that comes through as BB sings “let the good times roll” over and again throughout the song bringing goodness to the forefront of your mind. There is a brass band in the background which can add a little bit of a symphonic feeling to the piece. The dynamic of the brass and guitars bouncing back and forth draws you into the song and makes you at the very least want to tap your foot and enjoy the idea of having a fun time.
Daft Punk’s One More Time is an electronic/EDM song that will get even the most serious person feeling elevated with its rhythm. This song's motive is to get people out on the dance floor and celebrate. The theme throughout the song is in the title itself “One More Time’ we are gonna celebrate” and saying over and over “we can’t stop”. These words implore you to keep on celebrating and have a fun time. “Music’s got me feeling so free” is repeated as well. The words and the tempo and fun vibe from the song will make anyone feeling down to be uplifted even a little bit.
Pharrell William’s Happy is a song that gets everyone involved in clapping and dancing and admitting to being happy. Even the idea of bad news will not stop him from being happy and his perspective is that nothing will bring him down because he is happy. The entire melodic line is about happiness, and it is a repeated theme throughout the entire song. The bridge is a room full of happy people clapping and repeating the word happy repeatedly. The song is very repetitive, but the main upbeat rhythm is intended to keep the crowd dancing and to bring a level of happiness to the hearer.

Lost and Found Love
There I sat on the plane with tears streaming down my face. The plane had not even left the landing strip, but I could not stop the tears from coming. Just six short days prior to now I had landed on the same strip and there were tears that came with a separate set of emotions. Excitement, nervousness, anticipation and wonder all filled my being. It has been thirty years since I was here. (sit A) Thirty years ago, Grand Cayman meant something different - it held my brother. He was alive and well and waiting for me to visit. We would snorkel together, watch the stars, have drinks, drive around the island, meet all his friends, go to nightclubs, and enjoy each other’s company. Today I was left in the memory of saying goodbye to him as Covid prevented me from going to his funeral. Two years ago, he passed away suddenly from a bilateral pulmonary embolism. After he passed, I found out that he had secrets. (sit B) I knew he had two kids which we had talked about, but I was elated and surprised to find out that he had three others as well and two of them lived on the island. Upon this news I decided to make the trip as soon as possible and now it was over. In less than a week I was able to meet my two nieces that I recently learned about, and I was able to see my niece and nephew who were little kids the last time I saw them. This visit I was able to do the things I did with my brother, but this time it was with his legacy - his children. We swam with the stingrays, walked through the caves, snorkeled together, went to Hell, and met their children and their friends. Memories were exchanged and a life lost brought family together and a bond that will never be broken. There will not be thirty years that goes by that I will not revisit. There will be no excuses as to why we will not see each other again. Life is but a vapor and is gone in an instant, but there are no new regrets. Time, this trip, and knowing I will see him in the afterlife, allows me to heal and brings happiness to my soul.

Home and Brews
As you pull into the driveway you instantly have a quaint and almost Southern welcoming feeling. The soft yellow siding, circular driveway, and coach lighting give off a feeling that you are home whether this is your home or not. Walking into the periwinkle colonial door is inviting and warm. The entryway is open to the main parts of the house. Upon entering you are greeted with vaulted ceilings and soft vanilla walls. The dining room is to your left and large enough to put a 5x8 table that seats ten to twelve people. The dining room and the kitchen are open to each other and spacious enough to have a small party. The kitchen is larger than the average kitchen in Florida homes – large enough for an island, but instead there is open floor space for dancing if you wish. The living room is off the dining room but also connected to the entryway. There are no hallways in my home and that makes it feel even larger than it is. The vaulted ceilings also add to the openness of the home. The bedrooms are off to the left and the right of the primary areas and they are also open and airy. Everyone who comes over for the first time always flood us with compliments about the home and how pretty and inviting it is.
A place I love to visit is a local brewery around the corner from my home. It is called Hopsized. My husband and I frequent the place as they always have food trucks and of course, beer. When you arrive, it is a basic storefront in a strip mall. Once you walk through the glass doors you are greeted by the long wooden bar and tall open ceilings with industrial piping and duct work. The ceiling and all its fixtures are painted black, but the walls are white and clean. The floors are concrete epoxy, and there are windows on the left side of the room that give it an incredibly open feeling. The back of the brewery has a large garage type door that is mostly closed, but sometimes open when there is a large event going on such as Oktoberfest which we recently attended. The openness, lighting, and industrial feel of this building makes it enjoyable to visit even during large events.
The two structures are quite different in many ways as one is a residential space and the other an industrial or commercial space. Yet they both have a welcoming and inviting atmosphere due to their openness, lighting, and light walls and lofty ceilings. For a person who has a little claustrophobic tendency, both spaces are keen locations to spend time in and the freedom to invite friends and not feel confined.

Dog
The first time I read Dog, it was about a dog wandering the streets enjoying the surroundings and taking in sights and smells of the city. Reading the poem, a second and third time led me to believe that there are some political connotations. The dog talks about a police officer that may not taste good, and that he would rather eat beef but then says that he does “not hate policemen but has no use for them” and proceeds to say that between a cow and the “policeman either might do.” Maybe he really does hate policemen enough to eat them should the opportunity present itself. Shortly after those statements he walks past Congressman Doyle who he states he is “not afraid of but that he is just another fire hydrant” to him. The irony and objective correlative of it is that dogs do pee on fire hydrants, but many humans might like to do the same to some congressmen if they were not taking the chance of being imprisoned for it. But this dog does not have time to pee on the congressman because he is free regardless of the “discouraging, depressing, and absurd” comments he hears. He goes on to say that he is free and cannot perjure himself and will tell the truth because of democracy and the right to be honest and or have free speech if you will. He does not want to be just another “dog” that is told what to do and to follow the normalcies of life without putting his perspective into things. He does not want to be another puppet “with his head cocked sideways, like a living question mark” not knowing anything about his existence or purpose in life.
Dog
BY LAWRENCE FERLINGHETTI
The dog trots freely in the street
and sees reality
and the things he sees
are bigger than himself
and the things he sees
are his reality
Drunks in doorways
Moons on trees
The dog trots freely thru the street
and the things he sees
are smaller than himself
Fish on newsprint
Ants in holes
Chickens in Chinatown windows
their heads a block away
The dog trots freely in the street
and the things he smells
smell something like himself
The dog trots freely in the street
past puddles and babies
cats and cigars
poolrooms and policemen
He doesn’t hate cops
He merely has no use for them
and he goes past them
and past the dead cows hung up whole
in front of the San Francisco Meat Market
He would rather eat a tender cow
than a tough policeman
though either might do
And he goes past the Romeo Ravioli Factory
and past Coit’s Tower
and past Congressman Doyle
He’s afraid of Coit’s Tower
but he’s not afraid of Congressman Doyle
although what he hears is very discouraging
very depressing
very absurd
to a sad young dog like himself
to a serious dog like himself
But he has his own free world to live in
His own fleas to eat
He will not be muzzled
Congressman Doyle is just another
fire hydrant
to him
The dog trots freely in the street
and has his own dog’s life to live
and to think about
and to reflect upon
touching and tasting and testing everything
investigating everything
without benefit of perjury
a real realist
with a real tale to tell
and a real tail to tell it with
a real live
barking
democratic dog
engaged in real
free enterprise
with something to say
about ontology
something to say
about reality
and how to see it
and how to hear it
with his head cocked sideways
at streetcorners
as if he is just about to have
his picture taken
for Victor Records
listening for
His Master’s Voice
and looking
like a living questionmark
into the
great gramaphone
of puzzling existence
with its wondrous hollow horn
which always seems
just about to spout forth
some Victorious answer
to everything

The Secret Bench of Knowledge
The Secret Bench of Knowledge is a sculpture in the City of Bonita Springs, created by Lea Vivot, a Canadian sculptor. The sculpture sits near the sidewalk on Old 41 across from Riverside Park and in front of the Sheriff’s office and local library in the heart of the city. It initially was in Naples Florida until people complained that it had suggestive imagery, and it was removed. Vivot has created seven of the same benches, and the original is currently in the Wellington Street Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa. The bench is a little boy holding an apple and whispering in a little girl’s ear. In Bonita, you will oftentimes see flowers in the little girl’s hand. The picture of the girl's foot carries the signature of the artist and the commissioned date. The sculpture captures youthful and innocent love that may be experienced on a playground. The sculpture is lifelike and at times, as I have driven by, have taken a double look thinking someone was sitting there. As you can see from the picture, someone put flowers in both the boy’s and the girl’s hands. Today they are wilted, so it is possible that in a few days, someone will replace them. The sculpture has several inscriptions on the bench that are inspirational and things that kids on a playground would have carved. The full round sculpture was the first outdoor artwork placed in the city in 2003 and in 2005 the city purchased the piece. It took much effort led by the mayor’s wife to get the city to agree to purchase it, to save the bench. Having artwork such as the bench, leaves a sense of beauty and love for the city. It shows that the city cares about what it looks like and that they were willing to add character and charm to the outdoor spaces that people call home and wanted people to appreciate the place they reside. Since then, there have been several other sculptures placed in and around the park which add to the allure of the park. The sculptures and openness of the park with its large oaks make it inviting for all. At any given time, you can drive by and see many people sitting on park benches just talking, sitting quietly, or enjoying a meal. Having artwork such as The Secret Bench of Knowledge is integral to the life of our city and places, we call home.

Interrogation
Interrogation by Ali Banisadr 2010
Ali Banisadr | Interrogation | The Metropolitan Museum of Art
In Interrogation, the first impression I got when I looked at it was that it was a great battle. After reading about the painting, I realized the artist was in fact depicting a battle or a war. Although abstract, this painting is a bit clearer in my opinion than other abstract paintings I have viewed. The use of brilliant colors attracted me to this painting. The artist has used several lines throughout, in fact, the entire painting is filled with small lines which create forms of people who are in a field somewhere fighting each other. There are no apparent weapons, but in one person’s hand, it looks as if someone is holding a shepherd’s staff which leads me to believe that this was in a field during biblical times when shepherds had to guard their flocks. The lighting is bright yet some of the shading in what appears to be the sky leads me to believe it could have been near dusk or early morning. The entire canvas is filled with activity, and the sky and field depict a battle. I would say there was not only a physical battle but a spiritual one. One on land and one in the heavens. There is so much depth in this painting that one could spend several hours trying to make out all the delicate details of everyone yet, there is no distinct difference between them, finding themself in a battle of sorts themselves, thinking they have figured out the painting and the artist’s mind and motives.

The Last Supper
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Paul depict a story in the books of the Bible of Jesus sitting with his disciples eating the last passover meal. Leonaro da Vinci depicts what he imagined that day looked like through the painting of the Last Supper. In the biblical stories and the painting Jesus is sitting at a table with twelve men who he is raised up to follow his precepts, and in this last meal he shares with them that one of them will betray him. DaVinci captures the expressions of everyone perfectly, including Judas pretending to be surprised of the reveal of his deception. DaVinci paints each one of their faces seemingly disturbed at the news and Judas possibly pretending to be shocked that someone would do this or maybe he is in fact shocked that Jesus found him out in front of everyone as he reaches into the same bowl that Jesus reached into revealing he was the deceptor of the group.
Da Vinci painted this scene on the dining room wall at the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy. This is an important work of art because it derived from the Bible, and once commissioned, it took three years to complete, as well as had many restoration efforts over the years. It is important to me to see stories like this revealed in picture form so that others may percieve this part of history and what it may have looked like, and in turn, possibly take the time to look up the stories in the Bible and learn further of the type of person Jesus was. The evidence of the importance of the painting is revealed in how many times it’s been restored and reprinted. I appreciate the antiquity to this painting, the muted tones, the simplicity, and at the same time depth and effort made to create it. Also, that many average and not so average homes, have the ability to have a replica of it hanging on their walls. I love this painting because it reveals we all have the ability to betray even the closest people to us. Those who have poured into us, yet possibly don’t hold value to what we have been given. I feel it is an important reminder of how easily we can take a wrong turn. To have this painting on the wall of the monastery and to see reprints all over the world, reminds me to stay true to myself, and not to allow even the tiniest amount of greed or hatred into my heart.

I've never created a blog before and technology is not my forte. I am a paramedic but I no longer work for EMS. Currently I work in accounting. I am working on finishing my AS and AA. I need about 4 or 5 more classes and I'll be finished. This class is obviously one of those I needed to finish. I took the option of using Tumblr as I am not sure what I'm doing and have never created a blog before, but the others indicated it was a simple platform so I tried it.
